Now, I'm not saying this will be a show I put on all the time, weekly or ever again. I had a rant about new powers I wanted to talk about. These are not in the game, just powers TA's I think should be in the game.
Now for this chat/show/Rant! I will probably use this as a way to just talk about heroclix in general, and when something comes up just bring it to you guys.
Basically the New power and TA I talk about are the ying and the yang to Enhancement and Hydra. If your interested check out the video, its about to get REAL! :)

Anyone for a Fun Rant?
The required adjacency part for close combat "enhancement" is a bit much, as you are now exposing yet another figure to make a close combat attack. It seems to compound all that is wrong with close combat.
A ranged shield like power/TA that once per turn gave a +1 to attack or +1 Damage(you take a power action) would mitigate the exposure problem a bit more.
The game should be renamed rangeclix because range is so overemphasized compared to close combat.
Of course another option would be making charge full movement attack, and non-charge figures get 1/2 movement attack.

I'm not sure I understand your post. Did you watch the video?

You raise some interesting points. I think part of the balance in close vs. ranged combat comes in the form of powers like B/C/F and Super Strength, which themselves have no Ranged combat counterpart. It also seems that close combat characters typically have higher damage values than ranged combat characters, though I could be wrong. I'll do some digging and see if that's true. Also, range can't hit stealth. So there is some give and take when it comes to range vs. close combat.

Yeah it's not perfect! I just dont see why they can't add a enhancement for close combat. Those powers are good for cc though it's also another discussion but it's true they are unique to cc.

Good thoughts, DC.
I think a bunch of us were thinking that (back at WoS) when we were going to be getting our first X-Force Wolverine that there was a possible opportunity to create some close combat powers that mirrored their range counterparts (like you suggested with about Enhancement) in order to better capture Wolverine leading a CC team from the front lines.
IIRC there were a lot of D&D designes with people tossing out ideas I think some of the more common ones were along these lines....which seems like a combo of Hydra/Enhance for close combat.......(say it's for Wolverine)
'when an opposing character is attacked with a close combat attack/action by a friendly character to Wolverine, modify the opposing character's defence by -1 and increase damage delt +1 for this attack'
...........I have no idea what color they would use but I would welcome a 'close combat Enhancement' type of power.
I think this would be another good step in balancing Range vs Close combat.............and I'm a big fan of the decreased (overall) ranges.......and am expecing the support trio (perplex/outwit/PC) to follow TKs lead and be brought to 8 at some point.

I was referring to your enhancement for close combat. For hydra/shield the enhancement gets to be in the back row, nice and relatively safe. Your close combat "enhancement" requires the support figure to be up close to the battle. So your solution is to even further hamstring the close combat folks by making their support get into the fray. So I was simply saying that a shield like TA/power where they can "enhance" their close combat allies from range would be much more beneficial.
Basically, I don't see how you solve the close combat problem by forcing your support into the heat of the battle by being adjacent.
Something needs to be done to aid close combat.

Yes, it would put those support figures in the fray, but I think its better to have some help than to have none. It would be interesting if it was ranged, but I think it starts to get abused. IDK though, I guess you just have to figure they might take damage but that is damage your brick won't take :)

The good hydra and shield figures bring multiple support effects to the ranged attacker. Usually the TA, enhancement, perplex, barrier, etc... for under 40 points
To do the same with brick figures, which everyone agrees are already at a disadvantage, you need to have the adjacent figures lend two useful benefits, but also be protected in the fray. I don't see how that happens for under 40 points.
Maybe a defensive power that worked as a kind of reverse mastermind where these close combat support figures would be able to reduce all damage taken to 1 if they give an adjacent figure with inv/imp one clix of unavoidable damage.
Likewise, another close combat support power/TA could lend an Atrocitus like power. Adjacent figures with a range < 4 can have their defensive powers outwitted, but only replace them with the next lower level in damage reducing rank. Meaning Imperv->Invul->toughness->nothing.

Great rant.
What do you think about this; If you're adjacent to two or more opposing characters that share a team ability, your defense gets lowered by 1.
That could basically represent Cpt America holding Red Skulls arms while Thor punches him.
