I was wondering why this thread was locked or deleted?

I agree. I just went to read it, and now it's gone. Man! That was a great thread. Why was it killed? Who said something that bad that a ten page thread had to be deleted over one post?

Seriously!
I'm hoping maybe the mods just took it down for just a little bit to erase that minor 'flame war'. Can any mods tell us what's up?

I missed it. What was the minor war about? Was it because of Spidey's "RAtM sucks" vs "Spidey is crazy" or did it have to do with the "Please don't say shortbus", because that was the last post I had read before it was killed.

I made a comment about asking for the shortbus stuff to stop. I said the inverted version of carp twice in my post but other than that and the short verbal battle with Spider I can't think of anything else.

I don't know. The last thread I read was NickCarraway's (sorry if i got name wrong) about the poo flinging in his store's bathroom. I posted a reply, then got an email saying that there was a new message, when i went there, it was gone.

I hope it wasn't me. I made a joke about going into a Victoria's Secret and asking to use their bathroom, and if they let you, ask to borrow a cataloge. But I haven't been warned for that (Not that I thinks that's a 'warnable' offense) and they could have just deleted my post, IF it was me (but I don't think it was).

Good news I hope. I spoke with Webhead817 and he told me he wasn't the Mod that deleted it, but he'd look into it, see what the problem was, and hopefully it can be salvaged.
It would be a shame for a great 10 page funny thread to be permenently deleted because of a silly flame war that someone started that lasted 5 posts. Hopefully this isn't the case. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed.

I agree, the thread was a great venting tool and I think it brought a lot of people together who didn't know they had shared similar experiences. It would be a shame if the thread took a short yellow bus off a bridge.

Msybe the Mod that deleted it was an irate customer? lol

Maybe the mod was the manager of one of the stores mentioned?

Or it could have been how I asked if people would stop making short bus comments like the some jackass just made again.

uh oh, now this thread is gonna go too :(

If it does it'll be my fault. I have a daughter that's mildly autistic and rides the "short bus" to school. I'm don't need you to feel sorry for me, give me hugs or send me money. What I would like is for you to think for a few mins about these people that have children and the hardships they have to go thru. I care about my child enough to get pissed when someone thinks it funny to make fun of these children.

I agree with you, although I didn't know that the term 'short bus' was derogatory. I always thought that's what it was called, the 'short bus'.
I have a cousin who has Fragile X Syndrome and I too wouldn't want people making fun of him. However, from the threads it seems that people weren't griping about the special needs children, rather griping about the supposed supervisors who did anything but.
In my one thread where I mentioned that the menatly capable person pee'd on my stores carpet, my gripe wasn't with him rather with the person who was supposed to take care of him. I feel that the biggest shame here is that we have people who have special needs, and they are given caregivers who are either no qualified (scary) or just don't give a #### (scarier).
I don't know if you noticed this or not but I had a comment in an above post that was "I don't know if the mods tood it down because of people saying shortbus". We had typed our comments at the same time and yours posted first. Reading your comment of "Please don't say 'short bus'" I edited that line out of my post, not that I felt that there was anything wrong with the line itself, but out of respect for you. I only bring this up now because after reading your last post I feel we can have an intelegent conversation about this topic.
As far Shin-Goji goes, and I'm not taking sides, he happens to be one of the more helpful people here on realms, and (still not taking sides) I too was suprised at his comment. I'm sure it was made without malice.
Lastly, I read the old thread religiously and I don't remember you asking us to stop saying 'short bus'. I belive you posted it, maybe I missed it. My question/statment is I think maybe you had the final post? Maybe no one got to read it. The last thing I saw was Nick Carraway's post, was it after that?
Anyway, best wishes to you, and as long as we're all here, let's start with the stories again!

Inelegant?

I thought every flame war was inelegant. Intelligent, though, that's a different matter.

OK, quick Funco story. We loaded up "Sega Bass Fishing" in the store's Dreamcast and we inserted the fishing controller for it AND the Gun from 'House of the Dead 2'. We'd tell kids that not only could you catch 'em, but you could also shoot 'em. :p
I SWEAR you wouldn't believe me if I told you how many kids fell for it. We busted a gut watching people hammering away on the Gun controller trying to shoot a fish. I think we lost count after 32.
(PS: for those of you who don't 'get it', you can't shoot fish in 'Sega Bass Fishing')

Irrelevant?

Most flame wars are not relevant to the main topic of the post. But oh well. Some people just like to flame away no matter how inelegant on unintelligent it is.

I slipped it in there right before it got deleted and slipped in a story myself before I noticed it died. But let's get past that and back to the stories. I'll rewrite mine.
I worked at a warehouse that sold heating supplies, ie furnaces, duct work, etc. Well towards the end of the day we have to empty the big metal dumpsters out on the will call dock where they have the compactor placed. This one guy named Brian who I'll swear to this day seemed like he was baked all the time. He drives the forklift out to the compactor with the dumpster and raises it up and dumps the garbage just fine. Well when he goes to lift the dumpster up off the compactor for some reason he keep lifting it without stopping. You only have to raise it about 3-4 inches to clear then you can back up. Managed to push the forklift guard up thru the roof overhang. Most people would stop when they hear the cracking of wood but not him. He pushes it another two feet into the roof.
Lucky for him all they do is have to take a pee test which takes about 1-2 hrs while still being paid and then go back to work.

I hope it had nothing to do with my Special Ed comment, because that was based on a Crank Yankers character. Didn't give it a thought about actual retarded kids. Sometimes I think I should've road the ...bus. I'm pretty sure it got deleted because of Spidey and darius' flames. Sure hope it wasn't me and I hope it returns.
Laterz!
