View Full Version : DC HeroClix: Cosmic Justice Sneak Peek - Superman

So what makes the Dark Superman so special? Well he does not have the Leadership or Force Blast. He also loses Charge earlier. But he’s still 218 points! The difference is made up of the 11 clicks of Close Combat Expert. This Superman is a close combat machine. Get him in fast, and then use either Super Strength or Close Combat Expert to pound your enemies into submission!
Game Design Notes
The Superman in this set is from the “Superman: The Dark Side” Elseworlds series, in which Superman was raised by Darkseid on Apokolips. Anyway, there are some differences between this Superman and the Superman we all know and love, mainly that he’s much more physically capable and doesn’t have his patented heat vision—or at least he never uses it in the story. In order to reflect this, I gave him huge damage, a great attack value, more Impervious than normal, and left out his ranged attack.
In addition, he has Close Combat Expert, so even when he doesn’t have an object around he can do up to 7 clicks of damage. Yikes! Due to his point value, he won’t see play in low–point-value games, but he’ll be a lot of fun in big games.

Sweet
With 7 clicks of Dam. I'll use him more often than (E)Superman. Him as a taxi for Doomsday will be wicked.

I have to say it. When I first saw this pic, It thought it was Destro from GI Joe without his helmet.

ELEVEN clicks of Close Combat Expert? Holy.......well you know.
But the fact that he's still Superman Ally seems a little off. He should be unaffiliated.
Holy mother of god. 7 clicks of damage and a full dial of CCE.
Wow, I guess I'm buying a case for sure. 7 damage, ouch!!!
Sculpt looks good

I'd rather see more characters from the "original" DC universe rather than a character based off of "Elseworlds". This version of Superman has been seen only once and there are plenty of other (reoccurring) characters in DC I would like to see be made.

Sweet Jebus. An actual cool Superman figure. All those clicks of CCE are insane.
shin-goji
04/30/2003, 15:13
This seems odd. He's unnaffected by stealth or hindering terrain, but he has no range. Guess it's for throwing stuff.
But the fact that he's still Superman Ally seems a little off. He should be unaffiliated.
But then he would lose X-ray vision.
Angelofhate
04/30/2003, 15:15
I think the point of Superman Ally is the X-Ray Vision that superman has... he's not on the "Team" but he can still see through that toaster that batman hides in.

Wow - this guy looks like he's going to be a LOT of fun to play.....
5 clicks of damage BASE on this Superman....my prayers are answered.
wow from the sound of it with impervious and a lot of cce this guy should be able to beat savage hulk. the fact that he flies is gravy.

A flying Superman with charge AND 5 clicks base damage? If he has super strength and picks up a dumpster on the way, 7 freakin clicks!
Now that's what I call Big Blue!
Bring it!

Well, now DC players have something to match the dissapointment of Marvel fans who didn't want to see "Ultimate" figs before more of the regular ones were done . . .

That's why they kept him to Unique and not R/E/V. Just like 6-Armed Spidey was only seen once :)

The sculpt looks sweet; however, I agree with JakeStone. DC has a gazillion cool characters in regular DC continuity that have not been made yet. Why would they make an Elseworlds figure from a book that like 5 people read?
Also he almost sounds too powerful

What a monster this guy will be...
Oh. My. God.
If he has the Superman team ability, I think we've all just found the Superman. If he'd only had a ranged attack, he'd be perfect.
Either way, I'm putting in my order for a case of 'em. Right now.

You guys have it all wrong. don't think of it as an addition from comics perspective, think of it as an addition from a clix perspective. This is essentially the DC version of Vet Ultron, albeit a handful more points.

You can always perplex this Superman's range instead of throw stuff. That's what I did with my Aquaman this past weekend. With 4 perplexers on my team I perplexed his damage to 4 and his range to 3. Throwing a light object wouldn't have been enough to finish off Steel, and it was the last turn of the game.
I'm glad he's a Superman Ally.....he's SUPERMAN! It's lame when Spiderman isn't a Spider-man ally.
So with Bizzaro, Batgirl, and Superman we've probably got 9 Uniques left. I hope there's an Etrigan, an old school Aquaman, & a Barry Allen in there.

I'm wondering if DC was like...
"Savage Hulk does 5 Clix of Damage there is no way we are going to let the fans think Hulk can take Superman!" So they came out with this.
NOW Marvel will be like...
"Son of Apokalips Superman does 7 Clix of Damage! There is no way we are going to let the fans think Superman can take Hulk!" So they'll come out with ...
The Maestro! 8 Clix of damage! Then DC will be like..
"Psshhh... Son of Supeman does 9!"
"gah.. well .. well... Cosmic Spiderman does 10!"
rinse .. repeat.

I know everyone is complaining about seeing a version of Superman from Elseworld, but I don't recall anyone saying anything about the 6-armed Spidey or Mr. Fixit or Weapon X. This is pretty much the same thing. I assume we'll see certain figures in each set the same way we do in Marvel. Superman, Batman, Flash, and probably one more will be remade in this set. Just an observation.
But this Superman figure is a great way to start off the sneak peaks. CCE for 11 clicks??? Up to 7 Damage??? All I have to say is we've finally found a counter for Batman.

I'm a very Superman's fan, and I dont like it. Why?
In elselworlds i hope only the Kingdom Come Superman (tell me if not the Superman Unique what anibody want).
I want a betther (sculp) "normal" Superman, and mayby the Electric, or maybe the Hunter prey Superman or maybeanother real Superman like JakeStone tell.

That and the fact he has NO RANGED ATTACK!!! with the Superman Ally. What a waist of points!!!!  and a few more of these !!!!! just to show how angry I am
They almost got it right with this one, all they had to do was give him a ranged attack. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
I like!
As for the fake list... HA HA HA! Proof of FAKENESS!
Sorry. Fake lists anger me. So do REAL lists if they're early! I don't want Cosmic Justice to be ruined the way XPlosion was! NO EARLY LISTS FOR ME!
Imagine this team:
U Superman (SoD) - 218pts.
V Avalanche - 32pts.
R Con Artist (x4) - 44pts.
Total: 294pts.
You get Superman who is going to utterly smash anything in his path. And you get him with a 4 range (or 9 base damage) on the first turn.
Up that to 400pts. with this combo:
U Superman (SoD) - 218pts.
V Avalanche - 32pts.
R Con Artist (x12) - 132pts.
E Paramedic - 10pts.
R Paramedic - 8pts.
That's 400pts. exactly. Superman, on the second turn, has a 10 range, and 7 base damage (or 8 range, and 9 base damage) ... and you can heal him up when he get's beat on.
This is truly going to be e-e-evil.
 My Thoughts exactly. It seems to me that DC always has to be better then Marvel, and That really Gets me
so now superman can dish out 7 clixs!!! I mean does any one else think that he dishes out way to much damage??
It seems to throw the game off? And I Know hes Superman and all but Give me a brake.

Evil Superman. This is a dream come true. Man, 7 damage? That is awesome. No ranged attack sucks, yah, but he is still unbelievably awesome.

Something I just thought of is that since he has no range attack, will they give him a better attack value? I mean 11's not bad, but there are several in the Marvel Universe that can top it. Since this superman is apparently a flying Hulk, let's hope he gets Hulk's AV too.

Wow!! That red and black looks amazing.
Since we knew we'd be getting a Superman in every set, I for one am glad they gave us one that is significantly different from the existing ones, (and way cooler than Electric Supes would have been, IMO). Way to go JonL! Hopefully the Batman (and whatever other dupes we get) will be this well done also.
I'm also betting on 5 damage. I don't think you could call a 4 damage "huge."

I have no problem with Superman being an Elseworlds Superman, particularly since for Cosmic Justice it got us a Superman from another planet. What else would you folks have recommended for a Superman figure in a "cosmic" set? Bear in mind that there IS going to be a Superman figure, so don't say "I wanted a Unique Creeper instead!"
And did you people complaining about Elseworlds Superman complain about U Batman in the last set? The Dark Knight Strikes Again wasn't continuity.
And sol, we shall see. I just remember the designer saying that no one does more damage than an enraged Hulk. Other than an enraged Hulk, only a 300 pt Sinestro has an unmodified 5. So I'll hold my bet and see you... when DOES Cosmic Justice come out?

Anyone who saw the Cosmic Justice set in Inquest this past month, the one with the GL offer in it, would have seen that. It says at the bottom of the add, "Collect all 96 figures in this DC expansion set." I was kinda of bummed when I seen it, as I was hoping for another 130 set, but hey, if they're going to give us figs like this supes, then I'll gladly settle for 96.
Hey WizKids!
Can I now request that in the next DC set you make this exact dial for Supes, but change his ranged attack to a 12? :)

Can I start a Son of Apokalips Superman is broken thread now?
This is unbelievable. It also bodes well for WW being as dangerous as she should be.
Also, so far, it seems like we DC fans are happy to have elseworlds versions of our favourite characters. Of course, it's not like the Green Goblin thing. We already have five different Superman figures (though many of these are terrible/unusable in competitve play).

all i have to say is bring him on
cant wait to field him on a team
an evil supes no less cant wait to use him with darkseid in a 400 or 500 pt game
i am a devout marvel fan but im glad they gave the 5 damage to the man of steel who i know deserves this
he can do the damage but chooses not to for his normal versions even owaw supes decided to unleash he still has an unconscious feeling not to go all out its the boyscout in him
now this supes never had ma and pa kent put any of those thoughts in him go EVIL supes go

Then it's all a matter of semantics. :)
No one does more damage that an enraged Hulk; that would indicate that base damage was a 6, which is more than a 5.
However, there is already at least one character -- as you already mentioned -- that does the same damage as an enraged Hulk.

Yes, if he does not have Battle Fury on his dial you can up Hulk's range to >0 with Perplex and have him make a ranged attack. If you wonder what this ranged attack is, it is his thunder-clap. Great fun with Mr. Fixit, who supplies his own Perplex (and can't have Battle Fury at the same time!).

Yep, the faq specifcally mentions range as something that can be perplexed. It doesn't say that the range has to be 1 or higher first.
Oh my god. I cant bealeve that, then Hulk can make range atack???? mmm please tell me.
As long as he doesn't have battle fury.

I agree wholeheartedly with Jake Stone. I don't want to see "extra" versions of characters, particularly not Elsewhere versions. I don't even want the Unique Batman and Joker from IC. DC has SO MANY amazing characters, that it seems a shame to waste a clix on a variant. I can understand doing it with Marvel, which has fewer characters, but with DC is it's just shame.

I want Darkseid's other kids too! I could make a team with:
Darkseid 151 pts
Superman 218 pts
Dessad 47 pts
Kalibak 84 pts
500 points!
What do you think? Should they make an 84 point Kalibak?
Anybody who has a problem with this particular figure is glossing over the immensely huge cool factor this rendition of Superman brings to the table. I mean, look at him! Wizkids just upped the ante for this game, and that means the future (and the CJ set) looks bright. How can people not be happy with that?? If I only get one fig from CJ, and I've only seen one, I want this Supes.

I'll be replacing this figure with a normal Supes or I'lll repaint this one to be a normal supes. It's cool that Superman is a badass now but it isn't the regular Superman....but a quick figure switch will change that. But whay have the Supes ally? To up his cost for no reason? To throw things? I believe that's what leadership is called in Mage Knight. Perhaps he confused the names of 2 identical powers . . .

who isnt going to let out a shout when they pull this fig. Imagine all the groans at the marque when someone pulls him and plays him. If i pull one i'll play him just so i can see how nervous everyone around me gets. sure playing him in a head to head w/ some extra control over the other figs will be awesome but at a marque when everyone is out for blood it will be even sweeter. i just hope i get that lucky
Command is Leadership in MechWarrior and MageKnight. It's not a new power.
I'm just wondering if Cosmic Justice is going to see the cheap Outwit that XPlosion saw with Perplex. If so, this Superman may be obsolete before he's even available and that would completely suck.
In Mage Knight and Dungeons (which is the first of the WizKids games JonL worked on I believe) the ability is called command. And if you notice he said he replaced the command (leadership) with CCE because the Son of Apocolips doesn't have Leadership or the Force Blast (developed his powers differnetly in the gladiator pits I am guessing :) )
So there is not a new special ability called Command it is just Leadership.
And trust me when you work with (or in Jon's case on) all of WizKids games there are many similar Special Abilities (Super Powers or what have you) that are similar and it gets real easy to call them the wrong thing (I still call blades claws fangs Weapon Mastery when playing HeroClix and when playing Mech Warrior I call hand to hand blades claws fangs I am so messed up :)
Gaidin
PS They do say in the flyers that there will be new powers that have not yet been seen in the DC Universe but I am guessing that this will just be the Marvel abilities brought over to DC
The Rumour is that BCF will make an appearance. Cool fig and I am glad they got rid of the useless leadership power on a 200 + fig it is never needed unless you're playing a >500 or so point game. Very cool though, cudos to the sculptors of this set, they all look very good so far.

Wow, I was wondering about another Superman and its great to see that Jon L is fixing some old problems and giving the people what they want. This Supes will rock anyone's world, one shot kills are always good. To the person who said one outwit and he's dead. Well one outwit and anyone's dead pal. But this superman can kill outright any character with outwit in one shot (except Darkseid).
Well I think once again it is useless to give him Superman team ability because he has no range, but whatever they needed to bring his costs up a bit and if it were lower you could fit another flier or some low cost cannon fodder in your team to help Supes out.
Well great job Jon L and Wizkids, now show me Captain Marvel, Firestorm and your new remake of Thanos for the next Marvel exspansion and old mistakes will be forgiven.

Now if they only do a Captain Marvel one...

Superman, Son of Darkseid is the MAN! Holy smokes.
As for the Superman Ally team ability, not only does it work if he's throwing objects at you, but I'm really hoping to see some Legion (aka Wildcards) members in this set to copy it!

Well well well.
What do you get when you give Superman a set of balls?
The new Superman figure.
Now he can do more damage than Batman finally.
Don't forget, on the command part, it's saying that he DOESN'T have that power, like the vet. and OWAW have leadership.
And to those that say one outwit and he's a goner, do you think it'll be easy to take out 11 clicks of life??? All I know is if I get him, I'll be keeping him in a soar mode until someone slips within my range, then do a charging dive with a hot dog stand. WICKITY WACK! Dead outwitter.

You're right. It is Supes. I too kind of had a little surge when I saw this. Good thing I forgot to bring my wallet to work today, or my account would be $200 lighter. ;) (and my butt a few pounds lighter after my wife got done with me)

Hey thickvic, this Superman is basically "What if Superman's craft landed on Apokolips and not in Kansas." He was raised by Darkseid, and therfore didn't have the morals of Ma and Pa Kent to make him the boyscout he is. I only read half, but I remember the story. He was pretty much a jerk. It was a real different take on him.
I love this fig and can't wait to pull him. The best part is, he doesn't look like Micheal Jackson like my other ones do!!!

I'm disappointed. I wanted to see him with his sword and helmet and have an HSS/BCF combo. Only 7 clicks of damage? How meager!
Anyway, let's see this dial with a General Zod figure on top of it, but with Superman Enemey and a bit of range (since Zod does use vision attacks and shoots rays from his guantlets).
I really hope CJ will provide cheap Parademon taxis with high speed numbers to carry SoD Superman and his pops around.
Btw, if this guy is such a monster, I hope to see an Orion in this set to challenge him. Wasn't Orion an important part of that SoD story? I forget. We also need an updated Darkseid. How does a character who can shoot Omega beams that can cross the universe and track it's target have only an 8 range and 10 AV? Remember the times Clark Kent was running away from Omega Beams that chased him across Metropolis (or similarly the multiple times they've chased Superman down). If we're gonna have a 7 damage Supes, let's see the 20 range 15 AV Darkseid.

Just an observation.
But this Superman figure is a great way to start off the sneak peaks. CCE for 11 clicks??? Up to 7 Damage??? All I have to say is we've finally found a counter for Batman.
A counter to Batman?? He's a little expensive just to use as a counter to Batman if you asked me. What about Steel? We already have him, and he won't be two thirds of your team. ;)

For all who think that the Superman Ally team ability on this figure is without worth: In addition to throwing objects at figures with Stealth or simply behind hindering terrain, the Superman Ally ability also permits the figure to ignore hindering terrain for the purpose of movement. That means when Son of Darkseid charges, no amount of intervening hindering terrain will stop him!

if sups defence is high and stays high how hard will it be to heal him. most medics have pretty low attack numbers, so if im able to give sups 5 clicks minus 2 and his defense is still 16 what are the odds i can heal him.
Ghost_Rider
04/30/2003, 19:16
Let's face it: without any range, I doubt adding the Superman team ability really raised his point cost a lot. Still, it's useful for throwing objects so can we please stop the complaints? We've finally got an ultimate Superman the way that he should be. Yes, there are other characters that could have been made instead, but there are always going to be Superman and Batman figures being released since they are so popular. Son of Darkseid is pretty darn cool. :)

Are you people complaining DC has to be more powerful than Marvel?
Marvel to me is way over powered than DC. I am glad that DC didn't include cheap powers like Blades/Claws/Fangs and Probability Control.
They may include those powers in the next set, but I really hope not.
Right now DCs game definately feels like there is more strategy to the game. DC even balanced out Batman's power of stealth with flying characters, and balanced out the Impervious power with Splash Damage still applying.
Yet Marvel hasn't done the same thing, and they should.
You are complaining that Superman can do 7 clicks of damage, well I will say Wolverine should not be able to do 6 clicks of damage. Or anybody with Blades Claws Fangs.
If they want to balance B/C/F they should do it like regeneration. Roll the dice and then subtract 2. You have the possibility of hitting for 4 or completely missing.

Why would sups be healed 5 clicks minus 2? I believe that
only applies to the defence power regeneration.
I would just like to point outthe possibility of being toyed with by the makers of this fig. 7 clicks could include a crit hit. We have to then assume that he can do at best four clicks without CCE. I coulld also include the opposing fig being thrown off of a buildig. This could mean his base damage is 2. If it is, then I for one would bee pissed. Most likely his base damage is 5, but lets wait and see.

Also he almost sounds too powerful
I think the answer is pretty obvious ...cuz its Superman!! I'm sure each DC set will have a version of Batman and a version of Superman ...the big guns of the DC universe.
I think its a great choice. I'd much rather see a cool, dark superman, rather than, say a toyman. There are a lot of cool characters we have yet to see ... but there are also a gazillion ###### characters that I won't be disappointed if they don't see the light of day.
Hmmm.... though it is interesting. I'm guessing Lex Luthor will be in this set ... will there be another superman to be his AE?? Or will we fianlly have a three-way AE?
Inuyasha
04/30/2003, 19:47
He's very cool no question, but 218 is a hella tempting target in any format, I'd reckon he starts at 15-16 defence (Impervious figures tend to be easy enough to hit, just not to damage) and with outwit so plentiful in DC I can see him being hit for 5 or 6 damage in a turn which will no doubt hurt his effectiveness. Add to that he's probablly also lost charge to a double/triple outwit combo.
Supercool: Definately
Invincible: Nope.
I hate Superman... but I really like this figure. Something about an evil Superman intrigues me... Sounds very playable. I'll team him up with some wildcards for a little mayhem. He may not use his Xray vision for much but Dr. Doom and Ultron sure will like it when he tells them where to shoot *mwahahaha*.
I'm suddenly very excited about this set....

I think this is a make up, for the last one... But, we'll see one in every set... So, is Batgirl the Batman variant? Or will there still be another Batman?
Grr. Well, at least it isn't Superman Blue.
I was hoping we wouldn't get ten kazillion Batman and Superman figures, but considering what the Marvel sets have been like, it was a little too much to ask for.
So, this they went with a lame-brained Elseworlds no-one read, I guess this means the Batman U will be the Bat-Joker. Or one of those Legends of the Dark Knight where he's a viking or a pirate or something.
As long as I get Cassandra Caine and Cassie Sandmark, I'll be happy though. Bart Allen would be excellent.

remywokeup
04/30/2003, 22:35
The good thing about the Superman Ally team ability is that the point cost is based on range. Since his range is 0, it's costing him next to nothing.
I, for one, am betting on the 4 base damage. The "possible 7"is a throw off. He can do "up to 7" with a critical hit.
Nonetheless, Charge and Super-Strength coupled with 4 damage makes him tough on his own. Give him a taxi, and the other teams heavy hitters will drop like flies.
and on top of that, if you outwit CCE, he'll never not have it there to 'un-outwit' 2 outwitters make short work of him....mebbe.
Great figure, ok sculpt (better than the current), finally a Superman that is as powerful as he should be. Unhappily, he is a unique and many of us won't have a chance to play him. I guess WK has to keep the game commercially viable. Good for them, bad for...

Someone posted a link a few days ago to a German game site. It had a Cosmic Justice banner which included this version of Supes. Didn't say anything else about the set, and the other figures pictured we had already seen, so you didn't really miss much.
Elseworlds... Evil Superman... drool, drool.... The fact that he's a unique means I'll never get him, but he's still dang cool...
Now this guy looks interesting...if it's 5+CCE, I'll probably play him. (And lose horribly since we play 300 points, but oh well ;-))
I just hope he has a nice high attack value; I'd love to use him to take out Firelord :-)
I am more concerned that only one person makes a decision about the powers the characters have. No wonder Iron Man is a POS!

I personally am disappointed in the choice of figs to realease. Especially the first sneak peack. They could have at least done a more well known version. I mean he is an evil type right. Why not Ultraman instead. At least he has made numerous appearances since the sixties whereas this version has only had the one story. When I first saw there was a sneak peack I was like, far out let me see, let me see, now I am knda like... Huh, what is this.... The stats sound good but I would have rather seen an electrified Superman or an Ultraman instead....

I posted this on another thread, too. But I thought this might be a good place for it.
I've been playing with Retardog's formula and spreadsheet. (I know, I know it's not exact.) And by only putting a base 4 damage on this, trying to use the description of 11 clicks of CCE, & losing charge early on, I can't get this figure below 245 points. This may well be the DC answer to Firelord. But at least the stats (or description) seem a lot closer to the Superman we all wanted in the first set. I'll get it irregardless. Now I've got 2 months to finish out my HT set.

While I too would like to see a unique of the Superman/Batman Hybrid from Speeding Bullits Batman, I also wanted more of the mainstream figures done first. I would much rather have seen a Golden Age Superman and a Silver Age Style Batman before a one shot wonder like Darkseid Superman. If they were going to do an Evil Superman, why not Ultraman or the blonde evil Superman that used to fight the justice league? How about the Sandman-Superman, he was a major powerhouse and a pivottal character in the Superman Mythos. I mean the elseworlds are okay, but I for one would like to see something more. I thought perhaps a Clark Kent figure with him ripping open his shirt showing the Superman Emblem underneath and having no team ability and have stealth. Something along the Logan figure from Marvel. What Superman are we looking at next?? The Red Son Superman from the just released story of the same name? Come on, let's have something more, anybody have any other ideas??

There are multiple reasons for this Superman to be the supes of choice for this set.
1) Its just plain cool to have a Supes that is all about phyisicality (not sure if that is a word ;) )
2) It gives a truely new fig from an existing character. No on can complain that this is like XP where Weapon X is just R Wolverine with Willpower thrown in.
3) Granted, it may not be a comic story line everyone knows all about, but with the Superman cartoon thats on now, everyone knows about Elseworld, including kids that were too young to have read the comic. There was even an episode with an "alternate universe" Supes a costume similar to this. Granted he wasn't raised by Darkseid in that episode, but kids will relate it to that, and like it all the same.
Way to go WK for a nice take on an existing figure and not just rehashing existing ones.
(And I'm not even that big of a DC fan. But now I really want this set :) )

Just tried the previous Retardog formula and spreadsheet by Enigma. Used the same stats from the new formula and it came to 218 on the dot. I'll post 'em later when I can. Too much work to do and too many bossmen over my shoulders right now.
If Wizkids is going to do Elseworlds cahracters... I would much prefer they use Unique slots for them..... and leave the REV slots to the other, more well known characters.....
(still bitter about Nightcrawler being made into a unique!)

I don't mind it myself, but it tends to accompany a low DV and it doesn't stop things like poison.

How often are you going to take damage from Poison though? I mean, very rarely would someone field a figure with Poison.
Personally, I think Impervious is great because you have a 33.33% chance of 'dodging' damage.
More clicks of Impervious on this version of Superman will be good, considering he's mainly a base-to-base fighter.

I also think it's very lame to put this as the first preview when there are so many new characters that will be in the set. At least I think and hope there are new characters and not just Elseworld versions.
I think another reason this one may have been first was because it was leaked out on this board (complete with photograph) almost a week ago from a German site (which apparantly had a different 5 figures for their ads). Well the same 4 plus Dark Side Supes instead of Bizarro.
Just another attempt to keep most things secret. I wouldn't be surprised if the next 5 Previews are the current 5 who are on the ads. Although I have no problem checking out Wonder Woman's abilities. I'm curious about Penguin and especially John Stewart too (since I heard somewhere that at least he won't be nearly as expensive as I assumed the Green Lanterns would be).

Although, an mostly-poison team can be really annoying...
right up to the point where you totally eliminate all its figures! heh heh

I haven't been on the net for a week. So I didn't see, but that makes it even more lame if that's the reason they put this one up first. I want something new, I want a reason to order a case of these things.
About something else, who uses a character with poison? I've used Red Skull plenty of times and won most of them. He's a very useful figure that can sit back and command the troops, then come in and poison and kill off the remains.
And if they make Poison Ivy, which a preview would insure I buy a case, not Superman, she'll be on every team.
why is his cape so.... fake looking?

I think that's just when it comes to the previews, the images used are generally pretty cheap and look like they've been cheaply cut out of a picture with Photoshop. Many figures that look bad tend to look a lot better in person. I was particularly surprised by how much better Deathbird from XPlosion looked in person as opposed to the online picture.

I concur.

Oh. Ok. It just looked completely computer-generated. I had hoped that they would have the final figure my now, but who knows. Anyway, I want him bad. I want a bad superman. It's really cool about the one-shot Unique Supes coming out after the one-shot Unique Bats. I wonder who the next one-shot will be next set.

See, I think you went about this all wrong. Many people would have been sympathetic if you had just said that DC has fewer sets...and those sets are smaller, so fewer variants would be prefered to get the stable of DC characters out there to play with...
But now you've pretty much alienated half the readers here...since Marvel and DC have basically the same number of characters (unless you REALLY want the Howling Commandoes, Losers, and other "historical" characters), you've just implied that Marvel has inferior characters that are not as "AMAZING"...though Spidey'd argue that one...
Hardly the best way to win over a following to your way of thinking, particularly since it was unneccessary...and I'm generally a DC fan...

oh come on now...I enjoy the concept of "What if" when i started reading that book and think a bad superman in black armor is cool.
Sure a character's going to get left out because supes is here but hey, look at him as just another fig you can use not "he suck s because he's not so and so." I'd love all the JSA, but i know they aint gonna get made for awhile, so just sit back and appreciate the little geek touches WK adds to make the game fun (i.e. an elseworlds superman)
Hey did anybody read the "what if" where the FF all got the same powers? Crazy1

This guy sounds like he would make a good Captain MArvel. All you need is hypersond speed (speed of Mercury) and he's set. Oh and drop the superman team.

Okay, please tell me that someone didn't just say they were disappointed with this figure and the damage he does.
Well, I kinda am...if the 5 base damage, CCE is true, then it's just feeding into more number boosting...
I had that problem with the 3 damage Beast and 5 damage Crimson Dynamo...just seems like each set is artificially boosting some characters to one up the previous set, particularly characters in similar niches...ie cheap heavy hitter, mobile "street" level heroes, psychics, etc...
Basically, an arms race is bad...releasing a character that is almost identical to a previous one is fine, because in all honesty, is there a real difference between the Thing's, Hercules', Colossus', punches?? Some stats may vary, but they are all superstrong heavy hitters. Or energy blasts that come from your hands, eyes, wherever?? Artificially making a character with higher stats to make some new niche or up their worth just doesn't jive with me, because it necessitates constantly upping the stats...if you up Beast to 3 damage...then people will argue that Cap should have 3...or whoever...then it wil be speed, or defense, or some other value..If Spidey (who lifts cars, busts through concrete) does 2 damage...then just about every other street level character should be in the same boat...basically incapable of harming an invulnerable character...
That's just my thing...I LOVE the fig and the backstory for it...I like that Supes is a monster...just don't think pandering to fans (by giving boosted stats) is necessarily the best way to go about it..since it will inevitably lead to other fans complaining that their fave character is being shafted...

amen jadehorde!
That's a great point. People have to learn that the game is basiclaly a strategy game with superheroes. Each piece is designed for strategic value. Yeah Beast should not be able to do more damage then Captain America, but Cap's value is of a different nature (and he costs less). Maybe they'll make a Patriot Cap or something to reflect the new Cap and he'll be accurate to the comic, but that doesn't make him worthless before. Just maybe not a piece you'd want on your team.
The cape looks better on Wizkids.

Yeah..I undestand that...which is why I support characters that fill niches...maybe slightly varied niches...stealth RCE, stealth BCF, stealth superstrength...etc...
I just think that if a character is shown to fit some niche...but another character is already there...then by all means duplicate the stats, or make them similar...no harm in that, because stripping away the special FX and gimmickry...a blast from a visor, or from your hands, or from a big honkin gun should be about the same..they do big damage at range, maybe some running shot or something else...so if there are already characters that Leap/Climb and are moderately good at close quarter combat, then don't shy away from making another fig exactly the same...(talking about Beast here...)
Crimson Dynamo is another problem where RCE boosts a necessary close combat damage of 3 (for fighting Iron Man)...to a monstrous five at range...there really should be a 1 damage modifier for ranged combat specialist or something...to show some skill at range, but not automatic taking out Juggernaut...just leads to a point where people will clamor that their fave is jipped and they want better stats too, then someone else will complain...until the 20 damage Captin America appears...

I think we already have a three-way AE.
Hand Ninjas - XP Daredevil - XP Elektra LE.
They all have the same colored AE base. But, since this is the first time it's happened, it would be nice to be sure if that's how it works.

Here's my beef with Impervious. Superman is standing next to Aquaman (or whoever). A Shield Trooper targets Aquaman with EE. He rolls high enough to overcome the def of Supes & the fish-footed one. Supes takes splash damage. SINCE WHEN IS SUPERMAN VULNERABLE TO A GUY WITH A MACHINE GUN?!?!?!?!? This really ticks me off. Same thing with poison.

that s why i want DC to pick up invulnerability even if it means we have to drop the supersenses roll, i ll take it anyday
Funny how no one objected to Batman w/ kryptonite gauntlets when it's clear that Frank Miller's Dark Knight does not reside in the current DC continuity. I don't mind Elseworlds characters like these popping up as uniques. After all Marvel gave us both Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Green Goblin in Xplosion (yes it is Ultimate Spider-Man if you look closely at the sculpt).

Well, maybe it's guilt...he should have gotten in the way of the bullets...but now Aquaman is seriously hurt...the shame of failure is too much...a close friend is badly wounded...he's distracted in his grief...and so less effective

my point (hastily and poorly made from my work computer) was that Wizkids has already established a trend towards introducing characters that are not in present continuity as Uniques. Batman, six arm Spidey, Supeman (black suit). Having an elseworld superman is not that big a suprise and I like him.
that's the point of a unique... a figure that hasn't really changed much in his / her career...

I now realise that energy explosion is an excellent reason as
to why Impervious would suck, but mostly that is based on
mixed games. Unless Cosmic Justice is loaded with characters
packing the support power EE in DC barely phases people.
With that in mind I wish impervious were worth more of its
weight.

I personally like having one or two uniques per set that are out of the current continuity, or are representative of a very specific period of a normally REV character's existence.
I also like Elseworlds quite a bit. I'm not a very regular reader of many comics, but I like the one shot stories.
Here's for a Unique al Jhor Dan someday.

I think many people (including myself) are more accepting of the "Kryptonite Batman" than of the "Darkseid Superman". After all the costume and look of the K-Batman is just one of his older style costumes. And Batman has used Kryptonite more than once on Supes. So he kinda reminds those of us who have been around a little longer of an older style Batman. Also, Batman is still the good-guy in the K-Batman version. But the new Dark-Supes is more the Bad guy and he only made one appearance in that costume, and it is still fairly recent whereas the K-Batman has been around for over fifteen years and he has at least had two mini-series.
Now I would like to see the following Supermen and Batmen as uniques:
Speeding Bullits Batman
(Yes from the One-shot, this is where I make exception, but the book has been out for a number of years.)
Matches Malone Batman (A fig similar to Marvel's Logan fig)
Golden Age Superman
(A more of a brawler version with outwit)
Sandman Superman (from the Kryptonite No More Story)
Clark Kent Superman (Similar to the Logan fig from Marvel)
Given time I could name a dozen for each but WizKids people get paid for that. I just want to see so many villains and JSA, JLA, and Titans figs that I am dissapointed to have to wait and then see "Darkseid Superman"
Oh well, at least we have Bizarro... Still Hoping for a General Zod! Hey, now that's a.........:cheeky:

I seriously hope this Superman has better Attack power stats.
At the very least I'm hoping he clings to an 11 longer.
I think Superman is an extremly difficult character to
represent in clix form. I look foward to the future versions of
him I'm sure they'll continue to make. Despite how bad I
found the storyline I would like to see Superman Red/Blue
as well.
