Okay, so the header says it all:

"How much would you pay for a professionally printed, 1-sided, full-size color HeroClix map?"

I know I'd personally spend in upwards of $15, depending on the quality. $20-25, if it were double-sided (a la the WK maps) & superbly professional... AND TO SCALE!!!
:p

Anyone else? I'm not real keen on having to dl the files and THEN still try & print them out. It'd cost $10-15 to print them at good quality, on good quality (i.e.: "lasting") paper. I dunno. You're thoughts??

I didn't know you could download maps. Where can this be done?

Well printing of the maps costs upwards to 60 dollars. Therefor if you are buying them for ... 15 then the person printing them loses about 45 dollars...

Swampfox: there are plenty of custom maps available for download that you can print at home, work or friends place.

Drashia, thanks for letting me know there are plenty of maps available for download. I had kind of already figured that from what Genesis said. Unfortunately I still don't know where to get these maps. Can someone give me some web sites?

Ten bucks tops. Why pay $20 for just a map when the starter sets give you a map, a handful of figures, rules, etc. for the same price?

Exactly why I would pay UP TO $15. My thoughts are this: your point about the starter set is a bit limited, since you only get ONE option per starter set, per HeroClix set (i.e: HT, CT, XP, etc.). To get a good map like that, or have a selection of maps to choose from, I'd pay $15, perhaps no more...

Good point overall, JS. Thanks! Anyone else?

There's got to be a cheaper way of getting these things printed, especially in bulk for resale. Walmart sells door-sized full color posters for 3.99 and up, and they rarely pay more than 1.35-1.75 per unit on them (trust me I worked there long enough). The services are always higher for a single map because of the labor markup at place like Kinko's. Printing out several 8-1/2 x 11 sheets and cut and pasting them is cheaper but sloppier. I'm going to try and compile a list of resources next week to aid us in our quests....

Eesh. Twenty bucks for one map? Forget THAT.

I wouldn't mind paying fifteen or so for a map pack, but I'd want at LEAST two double-sided maps... and they'd need to be GOOD maps... I already have all the park land I'm ever going to need...

I would so pay 50 Cents for a paper map!!!
HEll if i where going to pay 15 bucks on a map i would just build one on Chunk of ply-wood with to scale Models of the buildings and than just Grid it all ^__^ not to mension it would be way more fun to play on. the only thing is makeing it so walls can break. remove Garbage cans and Telephone poles to beat echother over the head with wouldn't be so hard :devious:

The Rabbidgerbal is thinking 15 bucks seems pretty steep.

with maps people post that you could print on your own it seems kind of silly to pay alot for them. if you want something more perminant you could always bring your color copies to the copy place and get them laminated.

You don't need big maps. just make square tiles that you can put together. They are better anyway becasue they can be put together in different ways. moreover a stack of tiles is easier to carry around than a rolled up map (or worse folded) that never lays flat unless you toss a piece of plexiglass on it.

There's a rumor floating around the WizKids is doing location packs with famous battlesites, like, for example, X-mansion and Avengers Mansion. They would be double-sided, exterior on one side, and interior on the other side. I'm very okay with this...provided that they treat them like the object packs. A map, some stuff to put on that map that can be tossed around, and maybe a scenario card or two. Fifteen bucks is as high as I'll go, and I'm really not sure why. Laminating the maps I have costs around 12 bucks. Downloading, taping together, and laminating custom maps costs twice that (I don't have a color printer). So, I guess 15 dollars splits the difference for me.

Anyway, I'm hoping they actually expand the maps with new objects. That would be nice.
