I gave her a few clicks of Running Shot and Ranged Combat Expert because she’s often seen flying along and blasting away at the same time. The combination may not be popular with some players, but it offers her options that other characters don’t have – especially with her good speed and range values. The length of her dial and a couple clicks of Toughness make her last a bit longer, which reflects her hardy alien origin and her training on the battle planet. All of this combined with the Titans team ability and flight makes her a useful character with a lot of power and options

VERY cool to have the points & team affiliation included now . . . this also looks to be a great sculpt to use for mods :)

OH YEAH!!! For a Titan freak like me this is the best. I guessed she might be the one on a couple of other threads last week. Then after seeing a few more clix like Green Arrow and Cheetah today I thought Wizkids might show another click that had already been seen. Oh my God!! I'm going to be so broke in June. (Plus I still need to finish a few more from HT.)
After playing with Running Shot on Deathbird, I have to say that I'm not all that bothered by a combo of Running Shot and RCE. It works to get in a first strike pretty well, even if it isn't as powerful as your RCE boosted attack.
I'm also really glad to see another Titan out there. Send her on running shot to attack. Push her for another one, then trade the damage to Dove, Hawk or Changeling. Hawk and V-Changeling can then charge next turn.
Starfire! Awesome. Looks like we'll be getting some more Titans afterall. I see that they kept her sex kitten costume.

Nice. Hopefully they added more members of the Titans to the set, personally I'd like to see Cyborg.

It looks like DC's CJ booster pack is going to through the balance off with the original Hypertime, but it will also make the game much more compatable with Marvel.
A very cheap and useful long distance fighter.

She had another costume, resembling a one piece bathing suit of armor. It wasn't great. The few couple of issues of the last Titans series had her back to her original.
Add another REV to the list. Good to see them building up their teams (although give me a Mystic and more JSA now!).

Pshaw, JonL. I think Running Shot RCE gives you just what you said...options. And I like options. i also like this Starfire.
What is good about having both RCE and RS, is that your opponent isn't sure what you'll do. Surprise is your best weapon.
More movement and higher ranges. I'm liking this trend. Board control is going to be a big part of CJ - Let the sniping begin! :)
(Now show me a Legionnaire...PLEASE!)

Ah finally, DC gets another 10-range attacker! And a Titan even! I'm very much looking forward to teaming Starfire up with Dove! No complaints about this figure. =)

I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion. Only her Vet has a 10 attack value, and for 88 points that's pretty ####py as far as Marvel is concerned, but great for a DC ranger. Other than running shot and RCE (I predict one base damage) she appears to be an expensive version of Booster Gold. And remember that NEITHER running shot NOR RCE can be used against Gotham's mighty defenders.
Please don't get me wrong -- I'm excited about this piece -- but part of my excitement comes from my thinking it DOESN'T seem to throw off DC balance.
Cyborg would be awesome. I'm definitely gonna have to replace rookie Nightwing with a Robin figure and re-paint him as the old costume.

I think I will have fun forming a Young Rookie Titan force led by one of the JLAers.
Think of it as Super Heros in training.
12 move, 10 range (with running shot) and 10 attack sound awesome! Well if they're going to do Starfire, Cyborg and Raven are definites.
+<|:-)
"DC Balance" was 'thrown off' as soon as we saw Superman doing 5 base clicks (not to mention Sinestro). Down with 'DC Balance", up with DC being made correctly.
SpakSpang
05/07/2003, 15:42
Well, it isn't going to be a completely thrown off system. I actually think everything will still be playable, but the numbers are beginning to look closer to Marvels...which is in many ways a good thing.
And for the record I think Marvel's numbers are beginning to look closer to DCs. Which people have complained throws some of the balance off from the original Marvel set which was alittle more powerful.
There will be complaints from everybody. In the end I think we are getting a better game in general because Marvel and DC will be more compatiable.

Looks like I'm off to sell some plasma. I was thinking about going light on this set, but now I have to have a case.
Stupid previews!;)
Too bad rookie flash isn't a titan.
I say depending on here stats we may now have the Female Firelord, except her range is better.
Mayberry Bat
05/07/2003, 15:47
I still don't think Dark Supes is gonna have a base 5. I've ran the numbers through retardog's formula. I'm actually working on it in some spots. I think I've got a couple of things tweaked. At least what I've done on a couple of things has made the formula a little closer on part of the clix. I think he'll have 4 for a couple of slots.
But I'm loving this. Seeing old Koriand'r does my heart good. I want to see some Mystics & Legionaires, too. But I grew up on Wolfman & Perez Titans. That's what got me hooked onto comics. I want a Raven now. With her rookie in the blue costume, exp. in white, and veteran in gold. Bring on Brother Blood!!

I like it...I like it alot :)
Personally, I am just glad to see another Titan. Starfire can replace Dove as my Titans taxi. This is the scenario I plan on using Starfire in:
Starfire taxies Hawk (V).
Next round, Starfire pushes to use running shot, and drops Hawk next to the opponent in question. Starfire then uses her Titans team ability to slough the click of push damage on the waiting Hawk. Hawk "freaks-out" and pounds the opposition into Play-Doh. I like it. More Titans. More CJ.
All I can comment on right now it I like the sculpt!!!!
I was pumped about CJ when it was announced, pumped about it when we saw the promo with 5 figs.....pumped when I saw the new Superman...and after Seeing Starfire.....I'm gonna be broke in june.;)
Ps I'm thinking Black Canary is in this set as well.

Starfire's in the upcoming Teen Titans cartoon. Maybe well see Raven and Cyborg as well (we already have Robin and Beast Boy/Changeling). Starfire also helps with the "Cosmic" part of the expansion's name.
The sculpt, with her hair/energy trail, is pretty cool.
::doing the 'Snoopy Happy Dance'::
We've got Kory! We've got Kory! And Ollie's confirmed too! I am sooooo jacked!!!
Cyborg would be awesome. I'm definitely gonna have to replace rookie Nightwing with a Robin figure and re-paint him as the old costume.
At the very least the rookie Nightwing needs to be repainted to the 'disco collar' costume.

Hey i'm thinking we'll see 4 titans, 4 jsa, 4 legions, 4
mystics , 1 gl and the rest "filler" for other teams.
yeah it's probably wrong but i can dream can't i?
i do hope im wrong about the one GL though

I would bet BIG that the base damage WILL NOT be 1...It will be higher. As he said...She's a Range Blaster, plus a runnning shot of 1 damage is just about worthless on a 88 point figure.

Whooo Hooo! An addition to the Wolfman & Perez Titians! Now I have my fingers crossed for Deathstroke the Terminator!
The V has a 10 range, movement 12 with RS. This gives her an effective range of 16. She can outdistance Thor.

Wouldn't this just leave you with a pushed Starfire and a Hawk that can't do anything until next round?
aka
A juicy target
If Titans is anything like XMen...it takes Hawk an action to take the damage which means he and Starfire are sitting pretty far forward waiting to get smashed.
Anyways...
12 Movement...10 Attack and 10 Range...IF she does 2 base damage...we have a near Vet Iron Man (4 damage instead of 5 w/ RCE) for 101 points less! And with a more useful team ability for the character too!

ahem......sorry, anyway, nice sculpt....these are looking more and more like marvel playability stats wise......
ok....yeah.....
Have a good one all !
For those complaining about her 88-point price not being equal to anything in Marvel, I disagree. One thing to keep in mind – she’s the only fig in the game (that we know of) under 189 points who can move up to 6 squares for her Running Shot without the help of Perplex. And from there she can shoot up to 10 squares away.

Nice sculpt, and she looks like a solid cut down ranger for DC, I wouldn't go nuts about her yet though :) one damage or low defence could easily let her down, aswell as a poor later dial. However she could be a hyper-efficent min/maxed fig.

This is a freakin' girl power set!
HT chicks: Harley, Catwoman, Huntress, Dove.
SO FAR CT babes: Wonder Woman, Cheetah, Batgirl, Starfire, and Fury.
Already more than in HT. I think they took the hint.
And about Starfire...umm...Storm who? In mixed play, she's outclassed, apparrently.

Another nice preview. I'm really glad that they did someone whom we hadn't seen yet. Last week they previewed the new Superman just days after he was spotted on the German site, then when I saw the Inquest ad posted this morning I though sure that they'd do one of the new figures we'd seen there, probably Green Arrow. Not that I'd have minded finding out what they had planned for Ollie, but it would have been sad if they previewed another piece that we had pre-viewed already. But they proved me wrong. I'm happy.
It is nice to see the Titans line-up filling up. Again, the tie-in factor kicks in. They may not have a movie in the theatres like Marvel, but the Titans are getting their own animated series a la Justice League, so naturally the set is Titan-heavy. Not that that's a bad thing. I just hope they don't neglect other more needy teams.
We're definitely getting at least one GLC, but what about the others? We've got at least a dozen confirmed figures now, none of them are JSA or Legionnaires, and it's highly doubtful that any of those we've will be Mystics either. Maybe Fury, but she's the best shot at that group and even that I don't think is too likely.
Don't get me wrong, I love what I've seen of Cosmic Justice so far and I will probably spend more money than is wise on it come June. I'm just hoping the next preview will be a member of one of the other under-represented teams.

That makes her the 3rd longest striking range with a range of 16 right? (12/2= 6 + 10 range)
That's also the longest for any REV versions right?
Wth 1 perplexer, her running shot can go up to 7 (because its 13/2 roudned up).
I'm not surprised if we wll see more 12 range characters (a few) here becasue we are constantly seeing the envelope slightly being pushed.
You did good! Great sculpt and abilities! Too bad she's dead......
Bring on the Justice!!!
(Cosmic Justice that is.)
only approximately 9480 minutes to go until the next preview.....give or take a few minutes.

This is SO cool.
I don't play DC much, I just have some singles I bought way after HT came out. But I made sure to buy the big guns of DC and my favorite super-team in DC in the '80's, The New Teen Titans. Sure, it was only Nightwing, Changeling, Hawk and Dove, but hey, at least they were included. I still need a Hawk and Dove, preferably both V with the Titans team power.
Hopefully, this will signal the inclusion of Cyborg, Wondergirl, and Raven at some point. I will definitely put that original Wolfman/Perez team together on the battle-maps. And where the Titans are, can Deathstroke the Terminator, Brother Blood, and a Trigon big-fig be far behind?
Doctor Strange
05/08/2003, 03:03
I for one love the RCE/running shot combo. It works very well for a flying figure expecially. So many options and tricky manuvers. Anyway...
Im not the biggest DC fan, but I have always liked the titans and she is one of my favorites from that team. Great sculpt and nice powers. A++

Another fine sculpt job. Cosmic Justice keeps getting better and better. Can't wait for June and Wizard World East show. I'm going to spend sooo much money on this new set, I hope I find a Superman and the rest of the set. Later.

mercer, I've been reading Titans comics all of my life since the Wolman/Perez era in the 80's. Starfire isn't dead. Where did you hear or read that?
Carlosmucha, actually all of them (REV) are Titans. She took a small break in the comics when they tried to get a newer (hipper?) cast of characters, when Dan Jurgens wrote for the Titans. But she's been pretty relevent the last couple of storylines of the now folding Titans book. And she'll be in the animated series and new Titans comic. But for your questions I would say the rookie and experienced versions would fit.
but can someone giv me a boost that theyl b making martian manhunter n hawk girl

I was wondering the same thing, Grinner. I even posted about it a little bit back on this. I know she went out into space for a while, but I don't remember any stories involving her dying. And I have almost every issue of every version of the Titans. Unless it was in another comic I don't think she ever died.
You know, after seeing these fantastic sculpts with CJ, I think I am going to throw away EVERY Xplosion figure I have.

Well she might have died in the Kingdom Come storyline...Robin was clearly single and his daughter with the purple suit/energy blasts and green eyes...
That girl ended up being pretty messed up..
Both sets of grandparents murdered...Uncle Bruce's parents...murdered...both parents superheroes and may die at any time....

Which I dislike...only cause they've already covered power boosting in the comics with their REV system...I dislike that later sets introduce characters that have these suddenly huge numbers...sure, some characters are going to be bigger or better in some marginal niche...the more obscure the characters the more random the numbers...but Kory having a movement of 12 and range 10??? Will the next set introduce necessitate a GL with a 12 movement and 12 range..."All new, with longest range yet!!" I mean she doesn't have any multiples of lightspeed travel as far as I know...certainly nothing faster than Supes...especially OWAW Supes with the Pluto to Earth at 20c trip...or a GL that casually travel the universe...they all better have higher movements then...and then where will it stop? For the really superfast space fliers...you'd need monstrous numbers to keep up...it's just a little distasteful the number boosting...
It's an arms race and I dislike it cause it will inevitably make most of the early characters weak in comparision...

Well, most of the 'superfast space fliers' don't move that fast within an atmosphere. Just about every superhero game out there (and many comic book stories too) have different speeds for 'in combat' travel, 'long distance' travel and 'space' travel. So just because Uber-Spacedude can fly from Earth to Alpha Centauri in time for breakfast doesn't mean that he moves that fast going from Cityville to Hugetropolis.

I don't read the Titans (isn't it cancelled now?), but I know in the first four issues of the Nightwing series, she's mentioned as being dead. Something about #### and Kory getting married, but she dies first..... Maybe I should read more comics! Anyway, if she's alive again, I'm happy to be wrong.....

I think you need to go back and re-read your Nightwing. It was the minister who was killed, not Kory. That's a pretty major difference, and I'm pretty sure Chuck Dixon didn't mix 'em up. I'd check mine, but that'd mean digging the boxes out of the basement ;)
And yes, the Titans is cancelled (which was why I called it the story arc that ended the latest Titans' title), with a new Teen Titans title coming this summer with characters from both the Titans (including, I believe, Kory) and from Young Justice.

Grinner, Kory is most definitely in the new comic & animated series, too. For some of you who don't know Geoff Johns, the writer for JSA in particular and a few other titles as well, will be the writer of the New Titans comic. There was a preview in the last Wizard magazine. Pretty interesting. Tension filled, with all of the surviving Young Justice people together, and Changeling/Beast Boy being his usual comedic self.

True, but straight line travel and even swooping around...it's difficult to make a case for Kory to have this high a movement...
WW has kept up with Jesse Quick going .5c in the atmosphere...
Supes has been shown to be around this or faster, at least currently keeping up with Flash in atmosphere
Martian Manhunter can blow through Mach Ten...even controlled dogfighting in the mach speeds...
GL's have been shown to be able to fly alongside Flash...they just can't respond at that speed...but certainly as fast or faster than anything Kory's shown to be able to do...
And is she really faster than say..Booster Gold? Has there been anything in the comics to suggest this...especially since her movement is so huge...there has to be precedent for it rather than artificial stat boosting to make this new set the latest and greatest...nothing shown that she's faster than WW, Supes, GL....definitely not Flash...so all of them better be up there when they are released/redone
Jadehorde
05/09/2003, 17:15
Which, by the way, just leads to more stat inflation...pretty soon, every ranged fighter will be a 12 movement/10 range and to impress us, or to shoehorn a character into an existing niche the "best ranged fighter yet" with 12/12 stats...or something...
Which I just don't like...
No functional difference beyond comic special FX (ie colored rays) for various energy blasters..so why artificially create one? They can all blow stuff up and some can fly around...except for minor differences in style and secondary abilities...make them exactly alike...no reason not to other than to purposefully make previous released characters obsolete...which is a good business model, but not something I respect.

Evil cap pointed out to me this posibility..
"she can attack from 10 squares away"
Does this mean that she possibly has 4 range?
She can move six squares with running shot and then attack with four range for a total of 10 squares?
Hmm.. lets hope not.
I like the idea of her and ironman having the exact same range.

Y'know, grinner, you may have discovered a hidden story arc that Dixon didn't get to flesh out; Richard Grayson (since I'm not allowed to type "####") moves to Bludhaven, angry at the world because the minister was killed before he could perform his wedding service! And he had already paid him a non-refundable retainer! Come on, man! Go down to the basement and give me issue number and page number on that! You can't; know why? Because it says Kory died! And like I said, if she's alive now, whoooppeee! Happy to be wrong and no amount of b.s. back-tracking necessary on my part!

Just a little off. Nightwing moved to Bludhaven to track down a killer. He stays there to get out of Batmans wing and to give the city a hero. I have the first issues of Nightwing right here and it doesn't say anything about Kory beig dead.
There is no way she can be dead and than have a roll in the "Our Worlds at War" story arc. In the Our Worlds at War secret files issue #1, we see her plant get destroyed. She left for earth to fight in that war.
So if you could, I would like an issue and an title of the comic book were Kory died. Because I don't see were that happened.

Y'know, I was willing to be nice about it, but you want to push it, you'll get your issue numbers:p
The aforementioned wedding (interrupted when an evil Raven killed the minister) was in issue #100 of the New Titans. Thirty issues later, when the title was cancelled, who was right in the center of the cover? Starfire. Who also appears in the Final Night Preview (free 6 pg giveaway, included in the trade paperback). And in JLA/Titans: The Technis Imperative and the following Titans series, although she left the Titans in issue 19 to live on the world shared by the Gordanians & Tamarrans. And she also made the appearance gryphonred mentioned in Our Worlds At War, where said shared world is destroyed by Imperiex's probes. She shows up further during OWAW in Wonder Woman 173. And she returns to the Titans in issue 48, in a storyline that ran through the title's end with issue 50.
Now, as for the Nightwing issues - our dear Mr. Grayson did not move to Bludhaven for any reason related to Kory. It wouldn't have been very believable for that to be his motivation since the first issue of his series came out over three years after the disrupted wedding. Nor was he 'angry at the world.' While he was portrayed as somewhat bitter in his miniseries that came before his series, there is no such anger in this series. As gryphonred said, he went to Bludhaven to find out who had killed 21 men, breaking their necks by turning their heads 180 degrees. He decided to stay in Bludhaven because it needed a hero.
Now, in your defense I did find one line that could be misinterpreted. Issue 2, Richard says "And my last relationship ended in a funeral." However, he is lightheartedly referring to Kory in issue 3 (the only time she is mentioned in the title for at least the first year), which certainly doesn't hold with the idea that she's dead. We aren't even sure that he's referring to Kory here. No name is mentioned, and Miggy, whom he was beginning a relationship with in the aforementioned miniseries, shot her father at the end of the story.
So, if you would like to get me an issue number where he says she's dead, or even mentions her name outside of the once in issue 3...what's that? You can't?
