So, anybody here has seen the latest Batman issues?

I love the whole scenarion Jeph loeb has set in the HUSH saga.

I have issue 608 trough 614 and let me tell you, this guy has sucked me back into Batman.

And Jim Lee's pencils really make the book come alive.

I Hope they stay for another 12 months after they finish their HUSH run.

Anybody with me?

Any Favorite Issues?

Mine has got to be 614.
Wow, that was a deep issue. And the surprise ending blew me off!

Honorable Mention: 612.
The whole Possed Superman Scenario was really cool!

although i hate bats, the loeb/lee run is pretty fun.(except 612) i do love lee's watercolor.

also after their current 12 issue run they will take a 3 issue break then do another 8 issue arc. After that, who knows...

In fact, I loved Loeb's The Long Halloween and the pencils of Tim Sale are just darker than hell. The following story (I belive it's called dark justice, or sometihng) wasn't as good as TLH was but it was cool.

Now, Ras Al Ghul is showing up next. I can't wait to see Lee's Talia!:p

i think it was called dark victory i liked that one just as well as TLH

OH yeah!

Dark Victory. It was really cool. I enjoyed the whole Year One scenario where at frist Batman is not THE greatest Detective ever.

Kudos, Mr. Loeb.

Jim Lee is doing a great, Loeb is doing a so-so Job. So far the Hush story has no flow and it seems like hes just throwing in elements just for the hell of it (did Batman really need to go to Metroplois?). Its not bad writing, but when you compair to the other work hes done its sub-pair, I'm disapointed with the story so far.

I'm enjoying the books too .. but I agree with ya Sluggo. Seems like Lee and Loeb got together and came up with a list of all the 'cool' things they wanted in a storyline (mystery villian, catwoman romance, fight with superman, Batman coming real close to killing joker, etc.) and wrote the story around it.

Lee has been doing an amazing job and I guess we'll just have to see where the story goes ....

Don't get me wrong. Loeb is a great comic writer, but this current run on Batman has been weak. A sort of re-write (adding a childhood friend for Bruce? okay, but .....) of Bruce's past, plus from the first issue of their run, I felt the book was off. Lee's art is phenomenal, but I thought that Gotham had gotten cleaned up since the earthquake. Looks like I'm wrong from the area Huntress (who remarkably now looks like Psylocke, or is it just me?) found Batman and saved him.

I'm looking at this story arch as a "what if?" situation. It's like "What if Leob and Lee did Silver Age Batman?(The romance story for Selina and Batman) The side step to Metropolis was forced, and I'm sorry, I can't get over the lameness of the "Bat gagets" they've now added to the suit. Gas dispenser in the cowl, for just in case he gets smashed across the head? Water jets in the boots? Huh?

Now, Loeb was on with the writing of Harly. I could almost hear Arleen Sorkin doing the voice for some of those panels. Joker was drawn well, but talk about no story, Batman faces of against Joker in the alley, and its in the same alley, within 5 minutes, that the Joker is re-captured. That was lame.

My hope with the villan being revealed as Two-Face will kick up the story a notch. (Although, with this story, Two-Face now knows Clark's secret. That is a major no-no in my book, but that's just me.)

We'll have to see how this keeps on going.

Peace,

Tim

I must say that I think the whole story seems to be rushed some and doesn't seem to flow very well. I think the art is very good. I have read other books Jeph Loeb has written and this is not his best work. That being said I don't think it is bad it is just not as good as I think it could be. It should get better, I should think, as we get closer to the end of the story.

AFAICS, all Two-Face knows is that Superman is really attached to the crew at the Planet, Lois more than the rest.

Which, all things considered, is really a "duh" sort of statement about Superman. [Selina's not the first to kidnap one of them to use against the Kryptonian.]

I don't recall names or relationships ever being mentioned.

*******

Yes, this run almost seems to be a "Best of Batman" rather than a solid storyline, but I'm liking it a lot anyway.

Long Halloween is funny, because it gives you a character batman didn't beat at the time: gilda dent.

That's why I say that I liked the Long Halloween!
Batman thought he solved the case when he didn't!

Yes! Batman is at his best when he is flawed. He's sort of like a tragic hero who never falls.

True, he never falls. Unless of course to talk about the time Bane pitched him off a roof, bouncing all the way down off of awnings, billboards, and other buildings.

OUCH!

PEACE!!!!

I haven't really been able to determine what the actual story is. It seems more like a series of Bat-Villain encounters with some shadowy figure (possibly two face) lurking in the background. The illustrations are excellent though. I was actually enjoying the "Dead Reckoning" storyline in Detective more than this, though the ending seemed a bit off.

Dead Reckoning has been a much better story, but I agree the end didn't seem to flow very well. It could have used another issue to finish it out in. Otherwise it has been a better read than Hush has been.
