View Full Version : Marvel Anyone submitting stuff to Epic?
Epic is Marvel's most recent attempt to bring in new talent and readers. They are asking for writers, pencilers, inkers colorists and letterers. They allow both 100% creator owned projects as well as stuff involving currently unused Marvel characters.

Is anyone going to submit stuff to Marvel's epic line?

shhhh.... keep it down, the less people hear about it the less competition there will be
shhhh....
i already have alot of stuff i plan on submitting once they start accepting from noones like me
SSSHHHHH..........
It sounds interesting, I'd just be able to write the story. If I read the page right, I'd also need someone to do the penciling, inking, etc...

Hey:
I hear that Image & TopCow are doing like wise. Thought I'd share the love.
As Epic goes I want them to bring back Marshal Law! it's all about that Mills & O'Neil magic!

Once they accept your script, you choose the Penciler, I think the Penciler then chooses a colorist and inker and someone chooses the letterer. You can only choose from accepted people though.
so how long until I'm able to submit? And when is Mar-ville 7 coming out, isnt there goign to be more info in there?

It came out today and it is essentially a how-to for making a pitch to Epic.

I mailed off a script and summaries for the following three issues on Tuesday. I'd been working on it for a little while, in between the rest of my life. Anybody else send anything yet?

I was going to when I first heard about it, but after reading the guidelines it looks to be too restrictive for my kind of story telling. I need at least a mini-series to tell a story and they seem to want one-shots, at least to start out with.
BTW, if there are any pencillers out there who are looking for a good story to work with, send me a PM!
So when is the deadline? I've got about four different projects that i think im goign to end up submitting, i just need time to actually put them on paper and format them (danged school taking up too much of my time).
I didnt see any deadline in the issue

Wyldstaar, this is directly from the Epic site:
"You are welcome to pitch multiple-issue stories. You can write a closed-ended mini series (like a movie) or an open-ended ongoing series (like a TV show) -- it's up to you. In either case, we will need to read a full script for the first issue and "beat sheets" for the rest of the arc. A beat sheet is a scene-by-scene story outline. It can be in any format that you choose -- some people prefer bullet points and others prefer to write in paragraphs with sample dialogue."
There is no deadline. It's not a contest that'll be over in a month. It's a new line of comics that they hope will go on for quite some time. If they had a deadline, then, a year down the road, they wouldn't be getting any new writers or artists. So, take your time, if you want.
great. The last thing i want to do is send in a rushed script proposal

You might want to have a sane adult proofread those scripts for you.
hey....rejections letters dont have to be bad....when i was ten and submitting i got them all the time and cherished them.....then i stopped submitting because i was convinced i sucked that Jim Shooter could write comics at 13 and i couldnt......ok....now im sad again....SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE?

HUH? I dont get it...
Ok, I need to ask everyone something. Can we submit more than one story (script) or can we only submit one?
'Cause I have a sciprt I'm working on using one obscure Marvel character most people have never heard of, one 'What if...?' like storyline, and one original character story
very good question.....i want to submit three or four different stories if it's possible....if anyone knows if we can submit more than one, then let us know
Oh, also, I'm a little curious... for those who are submitting scripts, what Marvel characters will you guys be using? I'm not asking for the plot of your script, but just what characters. For mine, I am likely going to be using Jennifer Kale as my main character. What about you guys?
I'm going to be using Taskmaster, possibly Agent X or Deadpool as well.

I used She-Hulk. They don't clearly state whether or not you can submit more than one script, you're right. I would assume, though, that if they didn't want us to, they'd say so. I guess you'd have to have all of the appropriate paperwork for each script, though.

You can send in as many as you want, but they are getting 60+ proposals in each day. Expect to wait a while before hearing back.

I wonder how many staffers they have assigned to the Epic duties. Where'd you get your numbers, firstfederal? I'm not doubting you, or anything. I'm just wondering if there's an online source of info, or something, that I'm not aware of.
