She brings an interesting combination of abilities to the table, using either Energy Explosion to damage multiple foes at range, or using her Running Shot to remain mobile while weakening the competition. For a low cost of 35 points, Catgirl should fit into any army that wants to deal with swarms or groups. <P><B>Game Design Notes</B><BR>Catgirl, from <I>Dark Knight Strikes Again</I>, is a fast-moving ranged attacker who’s made to target groups of characters. That’s the role she played in the comic, so that’s how I made her behave in the game. She has a short dial because she’s a teenage girl, but the few clicks she has are filled with powers that should make her useful and keep her on the battlefield. Right off the bat (no pun intended) she has Running Shot and Energy Explosion, so even though she targets only one character, she can affect many more if they’re grouped together. After the first click she loses Running Shot, but then has Leap/Climb to reflect her ability to move freely through opponents and obstacles. Defensively, she has a good defense value coupled with Super Senses. That combination should allow her to avoid being hit. Lastly, she has the Batman Ally team ability, otherwise known as Stealth. Keep her in hindering terrain and she’ll be safe from retaliatory ranged attacks.</TD><TD><IMG SRC="/images/cj093.gif"></TD></TR></TABLE>

I suspect that HSS reference means something other than that she has it - unless she has it on her last click or something. Besides making no sense, and costing enough so that she couldn't possible be 35 points with all of those other powers, the description of her powers seems to contradict it.

Yeah, the "Hypersonic" reference is throwing me, too. It's given a captial "H", leading us to think it's Hypersonic Speed, but it certainly doesn't fit the design notes. I'll lean on the design notes for now and not expect Hypersonic Speed... which wouldn't have made much sense anyway.

Actually, she has rollerblades. In the Frank Miller comic she was batman's other sidekick (kind-of like catwoman) in which she help out the dynamic dark one's battle against crime (while committing a few of her own on the way).

The reason they probly made her is because they made Frank Miller's Batman (DC's Hypertime: Batman U). You know...the one with the green krypton gloves. :grin:

Well, going from the design notes and the description, I'd be willing to be she has all three. Notice that they state that she has EE, followed up by HSS in close combat. My guess is, she has one click of RS, then picks up leap climb to get herself into position, then has HSS on her last one or two clicks. DC doesn't have Flurry, so this is probably going to end up like a cheaper Spider-Man fig. So, my guess is something like

RS/-L/C-L/C-L/C-HSS-KO

I believe Energy Explosion was what was being referred to in the "attacking multiple targets" line.

Perhaps she does have it on her last click, afterall, in which case her attack value would most likely be quite low, justifying the low point cost. 35 does seem a little cheap, though, but I guess Cosmic Justice is going to continue the trend of giving good powers to figures with low point costs, much like in Xplosion..

not only was the comic lame, but catgirl didn't really do much in it. she didn't get into hand to hand. and didn't really shoot people either. she was just there in the front of panels doing flips and stunts while the background was filled with other people fighting.... not only that, but she was never stealthy even once in the book, but she's got the batman ability, whereas batman himself in the U version didn't get his team ability (when he was being both stealthy and sneaky....).

She must have a dial that allows her to take only 3-4 clix before it's all over. Her AV probably is 9/8 & it drops a point per click, she'll hit supersonic W/ like a 7 AV. It probably will just allow her to get off an attack & than retreat. What do you think the DV will weigh in at? This could be a nasty perplex target & worthy sub for Huntress/Robin to make the wildcards invisible. It's will be interesting to see if she or Batgirl will emerge as more popular. The outwit may push batgirl past her. Does anyone know if batgirl has leap/climb?

I kinda felt that DK2 didn't have the same film-noir thing going on that Frank Miller usually adds to his comics, but felt that DK2 had a very 'classic' feel to it. Unfortunately DK2 has the dichotomy of 'love it or loathe it'.

As for the fig. I think it's a great idea to be implimenting individual characters from alternative and possibly obscure comic lines as uniques in the set. It gives the uniques a more special alternative aura.

Yeah, azs, the best thing to come out of those DK2 rags are the HeroCLix figures...you can make up the time and spent on that ####py series getting and playing Catgirl with DK2 Batman.

I was not a big fan of DK2. I think everyone was expecting
edgy and controvercial all over again. I do however like
Catgirl (I thought it was cute), but I'm not sure how well
this fig represents her. HSS is not for her that is for sure and
from what the last paragraph says she doesn't have it. It
looks more like R/S and CCE for her. Weird sculpt too. I can't
wait to write a review on her :)

Why wouldn't she have Hypersonic attack? It's spelled out right in the comments. I'm a little puzzled what the confusion is over. She has one click of Running Shot followed by one or two clicks of Leap/Climb followed by Hypersonic attack. By the time she gets to it her movement and attack value will be too low to make it overpowering. RS+EE, L/C+Super Senses, HSS all combined with low attack and damage and maybe 4 clicks of health - looks like about a 35 point figure to me.

The only time I can see this being of any use is when you move into hindering for the first time, and even then I think we can expect a range of 6. Whos she ever gonna hit with running shot??

Not so much. Those two powers kind of fight each other. The 1/2 movement coming out of hindering will really impede the HSS. And unless I'm really missing something, HSS doesn't override the 1/2 movement restriction. If her move is only 6 or so...
well, it'll be good, but I wouldn't say incredible.

I think that DC has way too many good characters to have to use something out of DK2....DK2 was a decent story...(not close to DK1) but I really believe they should start to use the classic DC stuff instead of all this elseworld filler....I dont know maybe its just me. 40-60 points probably (a useable Black Widow basically or a cheaper Nightwing depends) Basically a good way to make the now awkward (always short) Bat team even up. her rookie is rumored to be 21 points w/ a 4 range, 7 speed, 8 attack w/ EE, 15 defence, & 2 damage... & in the LE range of REVs. I would love the E to be JLA & the Vet to be Bats... Like I said a Cheaper Nightwing or (if no outwit) a better Black Widow.

I had heard they might be including her. I must say I'm very happy with both her sculpt and the powers they've given her. The Bat ally ability is always a plus. I guess I'm one of the very few people who actually enjoyed DK2, It wasn't quite in the same vein as the first Dark Knight book and it dealt with Bruce less than I would have liked but it had it's a few strong points and I think Catgirl was one of them.

I think DK2 was far more edgy and controversial than Dark Knight Returns. DK2 is basically a mirror of our times post 9-11, only Batman is painted as a terrorist, and the US Government and corporate America the enemies. Given the fact that this came out right around the time of 9-11 I'd say that Frank Miller didn't pull any punches. I'm really surprised that DC even published it. It certainly was a departure from Dark Knight returns, but complaining about DK2 is akin to complaining about your favorite band's last album not sounding like the one before it. Artists grow and change, and given the fact that there were 15 years between the two series, it's not surprising that DK2 is completely different than Dark Knight Returns.

TWR, youve missed the preview when first posted. It did mention "Hypersonic" attack, but never actually said she had the HSS power. After people made such a fuss about her having the power, they edited the post to correct the confusion.

I think what you'll most likely see tourny wise is U Batgirl (41)taking the place of V Robin (22) & R Huntress (18), but Catgirl (35) is a little tricky. I do hope V Black Canary is Bat team because it will make it easier to incoporate Catgirl & take out Catwoman w/o losing more points... Otherwise use cops for filler. W/ any team you want enough characters. If Batgirl takes the place of 2 it confines the team... If you can do w/o Nightwing (72) then it makes it quite easy for the 2 new girls (76) to slip in. Ultimately you want to weed out Catwoman since she is a zero range tie up Character.

Well she looks interesting, although I never did read DK2, I did scan through DK1. I don't think she'll be a "must have"fig for me, although I certainly wouldn't mind getting her though. Still, I would't have minded seeing Carrie in her Robin togs, but that's just personal opinion.

Carrie was the weakest Robin, she's didn't really have any formal training, she's just a kid who put on a costume and carried Batman to safety after he got beat by the Mutant leader.

I thought it was alright, except some of the narrative pacing was really poor....Like Hal just popping in to save the day...I mean for all their planning, if the GL didn't come, they would have lost.

I was able to get all three issues of DK2 for $15.00 at my comic shop last week. I started reading them and very quickly realized a few things.

First I had no idea what was going on. At first I chalked this up the fact that I had not read the first series and kept reading butthings did not get better. All I know is that it takes place in the future and the Justice League is doing Lex Luthors bidding and Batman is trying to take them down by recruiting some ex-members, such as Atom, Flash (Barry Allen !?!) and Martian Manhunter. Am I on the right track?

And Second that the art was just terrible! Frank Miller has really let himself go since I first read his stuff (the Wolverine mini-series, Give me Liberty etc..)

I have not read the third book and do not plan to unless someone can convince me that it gets better.

So this figure might be playable and by the sounds of it she does fit her description in the comic but I really don't see why they bothered to make her since she is not that recognizable of a character.

Is she a Unique? I really hope not! For 35 points you can do much better as a Unique
eg: Elektra or Shadowcat

DK2 was the worst piece of #### I have read in at least five years(and I've collected a lot of less-than-great comics). It was probably the only book that I seriously considered demanding my money back for. It started okay, but book two was bad and book three was toilet paper.

On to the figure. I like the sculpt and have a fondness for the character (mostly from her DK1 days). I think she'll be a nice addition to a Bat-based team. However, there are a lot of uniques that are higher on my want list.

Another lousy thing about DK2 was that we had to wait FOREVER for issue 3. I remember reading issue 3 and saying to myself, "I just waited three months for this piece of garbage?"

Speaking of waits, when are we going to get issue 4 of Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil that Men Do? I like Kevin Smith, but these waits are really irritating me.

Oh & whoever said they were wondering about the LoSH... Saturn girl & Cosmic boy are rumors... Its looks like its mostly a wide aray of teams. The LoSH (although comic wise: abundant) may be the Defenders of DC. Fear not though because the Superman & Batman allies will slowly die out leaving space for others... their enemies however are very plentiful. The JSA (many), GLC, & Mystics will all be less than the LoSH (many more) soon. In the end the LoSh could have the biggest team.

Secretwarrior my warningg is a big deal for me.
1st the english in no my 1st lenguage and in the begining I was dont know the rules of Realms.

All my warning I think is beacause my bumps in my trades list but, I see another people with more bumps and nothing happened, anyway I write to the moderator with forgidme (apologais) but I steel have my warnings.
Anyway I have respect for the moderators, and I love this Hero Clix page a lot, all the days in a lot of times Im here and I dont want more warnings. But I hope someday maybe dont have a lot level of warnings.
