Just wondering if I missed it or something, but my favorite site for heroclix maps have been unable to be accessed for a while.

Is it gone for good or just experiencing downtime?

I'm working on a website for HC map-making, there's a few of the building templates from heroix for download.

Something happened (not sure what) and our good buddy Heroix had to leave HeroClix behind.

However, he left his maps and clicker in the hands of CreationMatrix. You can go there to use the Heroix maps and Clicker. However, the clicker is not updated, but CM has its own clicker to use.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for your help guys. Too bad that Heroix was left, oh well, sometimes life calls.

That's too bad. Heroix's site is what inspired me to make my own 3d buildings/rulez. Heroix had a ton of cool info on there, that was much appreciated :)

hey spychopanda what do you use to make the 3D maps. That sounds like something I might wanna try

I use the simplest method possible...Legos!

Yea, everyone probably thinks its silly, but it works and I can break apart walls when they get damaged.

My basic setup is: 6sqx6sq foam board sheets that I put together for the main map. I've colored them with markers for parks, roads, etc.

Then I have another foam board tile that I use as a base/sidewalk for buildings. Buildings are built from thin legos, making the walls. Then I place another piece of foam board on top (colored grey) for a ceiling/roof.

Add some plastic toy pieces I picked up from a dollar store and I'm off and running with a fully customizable and easily storable map.

I've also constructed "altitude" flight stands of 1,2,3, and 4 squares high using foam board pieces glued together. We use an altitude system in place of the hover/soaring rules of Heroclix. It's actually worked pretty good with our group, but probably isn't for everyone.

I put up some older pics of my map stuff

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/hc_wire

The map is all colored now. The "indestructible building" (early experiment with foamboard/duct tape) has been replaced.

The cave/hill is still being used. TO Morrow got stuck on top of it in one session and would like to thank Brainiac-13 for that lovely bit of planning "You see any wings on me?!?!" The tupperware lid lake is still a hit, Black Manta sat out there in the middle one whole game, pelting She-Hulk with incap's. "Call me rubber ducky?!"

We had to have a shot of the monster known as Ultron as well. Him and Sauron whopped it up in that game.

You can pretty much get the idea of how we use our "flight stands" from the pics.

Some future ideas are to add printed wallpaper to the lego walls (segmented of course), to make them look not so "lego". More legos to add more floors to buildings. Get more tree/hedge stuff. Figure out how to incorporate cars and other vehicles a little better. More pics to put on website!

Um, oh yeah...get a table so that my buddies don't have to sit on the floor...heh, heh ;)

That looks very cool. I will have to bust out my legos....
