4 maps, plus tokens and scenarios. Sounds like good bang for my buck. Now we just need the Marvel map set with the Fantastic Fours HQ, the X-Mens Mansion, Avengers Mansion, and Dr. Dooms Castle. SHIELD Helicarrier anyone?

I assume that's two double sided maps, and not four? Or is it four maps, each with two sides?

Finally! "8" new maps to play on. I just hope that these ones don't have any confusing parts to them. Thanks for finally giving us new maps to play on! Really looking forward to them.

Well hooray and reasonably priced too - sounds great. I thought the adventure kits were too expensive and having to buy the Big Box set to get two maps just wasn't my thing. This is what I've been looking for.

I wonder what those rules will be for? maybe special rules for locations and teams like in the batcave batman allies alwys have stealth. that would be freakin cool.

"I just hope that these ones don't have any confusing parts to them. "

Hopefully that's the rules sheet included

What I have always wanted are little diagrams of the maps like (obviously graphics but I can't do that here)

XHBXXXXXX
XXXXXBHXX

just an example but X would be empty square, H would be hindering, B would be blocking.

You could use W for watter... maybe there would be a few more things.

But this would be nice just to clarify once and for all what all the squares are.

We shall soon know the answer to the burning question, is the giant penny blocking terrain or only hindering?

Best thing yet...!

I [for one] am VERY glad that WK is finally putting out maps without having to buy Starter Sets. Great idea! Now to see how good the quality is...

BTW- Veggiehater: WK marketing defines a single map as "one-side of a two-sided print". Note that the adverts for the Premier set claim it has 4 maps (in actuality 2, 2-sided maps). In other words, no, it will be the same thing: 2, 2-sided maps.

i'm personally very interested in understanding what they mean by "improved game dynamics"!

Is anybody else Annoyed at the thought of fighting in the batcave?

I mean the Watchtower and Avengers mansion have had some serious battles on the front lawn but the batcave is supposed to be "secret"

How are we supposed to Justify 3 people with a 500 point army each all being under the stately manor at the same time anyway.

I would have prefered another location personally, star labs and the watchtower (hopefully inside and Out) (hmmm Battle on the moon!)

Plenty of battles happen in the Batcave (just not the kind yr used to):

"Holy Wealthy Pervert! I'm not putting THAT on . . . "

Yeah, yeah, I know. I've already got directions to my specific circle of Hell for telling that joke . . :disappoin

I know that, I'm not that dense! :p What I meant by "8" new maps, is that we have these four AND Marvel's four new maps...

This is exciting news. I will buy these the moment they come out. I am intrigued by the scenarios and tokens they are talking about.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree, second, third, and fourth all comments of how cool this is, BUT....

What would be the two map locations (one DC and one Marvel) that they didn't mention? Also, "JLA Headquarters." Hopefully this is the watchtower, but could it also be the mansion Maxwell Lord had for them? (They did make Booster and Blue Beetle figures, so it might.) And, if they do the watchtower, will it be the moon (as in the comics) or a satellite (as in the Justice League cartoon. Also, they had a satellite during the time of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, right?) Heck, if they did the "Hall of Justice," I'd still mark out over it.

My votes for Marvel, make the map either Four Freedoms plaza, or since they've started doing Ultimate figures, The Ultimates team HQ. A good idea would be Peter Parker's neighborhood!

For DC, I'd say Titans tower would be cool, but the Guardians base on OA would ROCK as a location to play. Or how about the Flash museum from Central City? JSA headquarters?

Just getting the mind flowing.

PEACE!!!

I was thinking the giant penny might be a heavy object, but then again, it would be pointless to waste 1 of the 3 objects on something relevent only to the batcave...the penny SHOULD be elevated....and therefore no stairs to it....

Frontman

Ok, just re-read Wizkids press release on the map set. Each set will be two indoors and two outdoor locations. Marvel will have Avengers Mansion and the X-mansion, with both indoor and outdoor maps for both. Something tells me that will be the four map locations.

The DC one is still up for grabs. Star Labs and the Batcave sound like indoor sets, so JLA HQ might be an out door map set. Then again, since the Batcave is so deep, maybe they're going to consider that one outdoor.....

PEACE!!!

That would literally be the best thing ever!! (heroclix related anyway. Using hexagonal maps would be the quickest way to vastly improve gameplay, in my personal opinion.

I wish the maps were not made of paper, but I have a bad feeling they will be greatly similar to the maps of yore.

Hexagonal maps are one thing we are considering making for this game set. The only downside to hexagonal is that hexagons do not make perfect edges, and the map designer would have to play it smart while trying to close off the edges of the maps.
Not impossible, and certainly a consideration for us. I'm not sure that WK will go that route... we shall see soon enuff! Mebbe they'll go with the measuring system (a la MechWarrior)! That'd be cooler than counting squares! (But would limit the younger audience a little.)

(is it August yet??)

The extra rules are probably for items that come with the maps like the lampost and dumpster in the previous map expansions. I'm hoping they put some of their dungeon traps into the marvel map pack to simulate the X-men danger room. I hope I hope I hope.....:squareeye

I'm already down to buy a set of Mage Knight Dungeon traps for that very reason. I'm also thinking of getting a full set of 3D dungeons, to set up for heroclix (Granted, the size of the squares is off, but 6 squares versus 4 squares is only 2 square difference, no matter what the size.)

The hope with Character tokens for me is hopefully, they do characters that it wouldn't be practical to make figures for (Alfred for DC, Jarvis for Marvel.) That would rock.

PEACE!!!

This is pure speculation. However, after playing Crimson Skies today, I wonder if these tokens are going to be "one-click" characters like the tokens in Crimson Skies?

If they aren't, they could be anything.

Did the price of these thing just go up all of a sudden???

daredevil11

Yes, the price did go up . . . so I retract my early statement, there's nothing reasonable about 14 bucks for two pieces of paper.

The maps are no good without figures, so making them sort of increases business by nature doesn't it? - no need to gauge on the map price. I wanta like this company, I really do, but they make it hard sometimes . . . . :ermm:

Guess I'll do what I did with the adventure sets, steer clear until they start collecting dust and get sold at some unnamed auction site for 8-10 bucks (shipping was free).

Whoa. That stinks. Especially since they listed them in Game Trade magazine at 9.95. I don't think Game Trade has a disclaimer, but man, talk about screwing over local stores that place advanced orders using that mag. If I put down my money on something for ten bucks, then the store asks me for 4 bucks more when I come in to pick it up, especially with a magazine in hand showing the price at ten bucks, I'd really be peeved!!!

I thought the prices went up on these things. I think that is a bunch of ####. 10 dollars for a couple of maps sounded too good to be true.
