I read the latest issue of New X-men, and here's the low down: Bishop finds Sage, who's in a mental daze for a while, and finds the shack with the Pods. When they return to the mansion, Beaky tells Bishop he did it, but something else isn't right. Bishop and the X-men return to the shack, only to find that the babies have hatched, with Angel there to greet them. Later, Jean Grey gives Beast the last piece of Emma Frost to beast. She tells beast that she didn't deserve to die, because Emma loved scott more than her. So she decides to use her Phoenix powers to bring Emma back to life, Who screams one name....ESME!
The young girl of the group of blond Quintuplets, Esme, is last seen leaving the school in a car, with a smirk on her face.

This is definitely one of Morrison's worst stories ever. WHY BRING HER BACK? WHY? What was the point?
I think the point was never about Emma's death, but to show how powerful Jean has become. With godlke powers, she's going to have to make tough decisions. Since he probably never meant for Emma to stay dead, I have no problem with it. What's going to happen when Kitty asks Jean to bring back Colossus though? How far is too far in playing god?

True that would be going a little too far, but as a avid reader of the New X-Men Iam for one in saying leave Peter Dead!!!!
I agree. Colossus is my 2nd favorite, but I have to see him in Ultimate. Still, the usual problem isn't too much ressurection, but too much killing in the name of drama. In Peter's case it was important to the story, but in the mid-nineties, both companies were killing too many good characters just because. Death of main characters should be sparing, so when it happens, it means something.

re-read the issue, jean says that emma's mind is there still. it's not the first time she has displaced her mind, she switched bodies with storm once. Jean just put emma's body back together again and allowed emma to return to it. I would love to see both collassus and majik make a return, but I think that that will eventually happen through exiles

Well, being a comic and all, I kinda assumed Colossus would be back. At this point, nothing is ever, EVER final. And I expect any writers who kill anyone off to assume we know that. I mean, in the new Captain America...... yeah, it seems like we might see Bucky. Alive. In the present. I'm just waiting for Peter to come back. It's not an IF. It's a WHEN.
This was a good story, and really left a good mystery - who was Esme talking about at the end?

Thanks for the clarification. I could only read it once, as my mom was rushing me out of the store. I'm definitely going to buy it though.

didja notice how the cab had no driver? here's my lowdown... esme makes some comment about dying her hair, right? maybe the hellfire club is reforming and they wanted emma out of the way??? esme would make a great black queen for a new hellfire club, cause she knows the inner workings of the mansion and where cerebra is at.

There was also that part with sage, remembering some lost information. The person that was holding the gun was a male, at least 6'2". The case isn't entirely closed yet.
Morrison is the worst thing to ever happen to the X-Men. He is the sole reason why I quit buying them. He has to have the worst writing skills out of all X-men writers. Half of his stories are re-hash of already done stories. (This badguy does this, xmen stop him, everyone is happy). The other half is WTF Bullh*t stories that don't make any sense. (Emma gets killed, but not killed, and Phoenix revives her because the b*tch loves her man more than she does). I go to bed everynight praying that he might pull a decent story out of his @ss (a few times my prayers have been answered). Every time I go to the Comic shop, I pick up the newest issue, flip through enough to see how horrible it is, then put it back down and depressingly sigh. Why can't Collosus come back and Morrison die off?

I love Colossus, but I would hate to see him brought back. Leave dead as dead this one time. I think Marvel could do it, but if he has a vital part in X3, we'll see a return. For as much fighting as Marvel Superheroes do, their death numbers are way too low.

What about Magneto's return....A taxi cab with no driver? Anyway, Chuck Austen (from Uncanny X-men) begged and pleaded to have Colossus come back because he really felt that Uncanny was missing a bruiser. Answer was a resounding no, Colossus is dead and shall remain so. That's why we have been seeing Juggernaut in the pages of Uncanny. Wouldn't hold your breath for Colossus or Magik, but you can find them both in the "Hard Choices" story ark of Judd Winicks' EXILES. (which is an excellent read)
It's so adorable when people wish death upon a creator. :cheeky:
The Murder arc hasn't been one of my favorites (felt an issue too long) but it has some great implications for the future. There is now a great deal of distrust among the staff and students which can only lead to potential tension. White Queen has displaced herself multiple times (as stated above) and if you are going to falt Morrison on it then you need to make sure you take shots at Claremont, Lobdell, & Lee/Portacio. What's interesting to me about Emma being reassembled is the fact that she is a physically broken character. The flashback to her origin reveals how she went through plastic surgery to make herself beautiful, and she is certainly a character who has prided herself on her appearance. Now it looks like she will be stuck in this shattered diamond form. I doubt her "human" body could withstand such damage.
I keep wondering how things would've been if they had the Internet back in the late 70s. "This Russian guy sucks, bring back Hank! Wolverine, what a joke!" ;)
what gave you the impression she will be stuck in the diamond form?

Ya, when Phoenix brought her back, she wasn't shattered, but whole. As for morrison, I think he's been doing a great job. The only other X-book that I even touch is Exiles, the rest are pretty bad. Don't feel sad about Peter, he died doing what only the most heroic of people would do. His death saved an entire race, they better bring him back, or what was the point of his sacrifice?
But i'm sure that's what everyone said when the phoenix comitted "suicide" about twenty plus years ago.

wanna know a secret?
morrison is the best thing to happen to the x-men in at least five years. everything he does is fresh (and whoever said it was rehashed i'd like to aks what exactly is rehashed). everyhting is on a more personal level. you can see how the x-men affect eachother. and best of all, it's all self contained and not some huge crossover (one in the summer and one in the winter) where you have to buy 18 books to read a lackluster stroy.
so morrison is worse than what?
Onslaught? please.
the death of cyclops? he came back (dammit).
the twelve story line? (whatever)
the x-men skrulls? in space?
the substitute x-mena take on genesha?
uncanny x-men? it's like reading cardboard.
x-treme x-men? what the hell is that? how can claremont have 2000 words of script and not have a new idea anywhere in there.
am i getting close?
x-men has been so unreadable for years. morrison has made it cool again. and like him or not, people actually talk about the stories.
