Wizkids had a good presence at Wizard World East and were quite forthcoming about future plans. Points of interest:

1. IndyClix will have a revised rulebook which is intended to clear up all the current troublespots in the HeroClix rules. They were close-mouthed about the details though so it wasn't clear if this will include changes to the mechanics such as the flying carry rules.

2. Jon Leithusser is being assigned to a different game and so HeroClix will soon have a new lead developer. I think that Jeff Quick was the name mentioned but my memory of this is fuzzy. It was certainly one of the existing staff.

3. Marvel are said to love the game and so renewal of the licence should not be a problem. The story goes that Marvel wanted to seem hard-to-get but the truth came out when Wizkids visited their offices. When the Wizkids guys announced themselves, the receptionist complained that "they stole my Hulk". It turns out that Marvel's editors play the game every lunchtime. Of course, the money men might still screw things up but I was quite encouraged by the upbeat attitude of Wizkids' top execs.

4. Ideas for new big figs were solicited and all the usual suggestions were made (Fing Fan Foom, etc). They still don't seem keen on the idea of a Galactus figure and that's a shame, IMO. If MechWarrior can have its drop ship, HeroClix ought to have a 1000-point monster too. But they are certainly open to suggestions.

Hey Andrew,
How do you get this information? Was there a Wizkids question and answer session? Or ? I appreciate the info just curious where it came from.
Secondly, I would like to commend you on posting all of the Philly tournament information.

The dinner wasn't much - a slice of pizza and a can of coke - but the speakers were good and the topics were interesting. There were sneak previews of the next MK and MW sets but nothing equivalent for HC - just the pre-release sales of Cosmic Justice (which is cool).

The fun part was getting everyone to stand up and then sit down as their home states were called out. I think there were attendees from 30 different states and a protectorate (Puerto Rico). There were a few Canadians and I got a good cheer for being the only envoy from Europe. I hadn't travelled the furthest though - that distinction went to a chap from Hawaii and he got a good cheer too.

Andrew

And how are the pre-release sale values for Cosmic Justice? Did they say how it compared to previous expansions? So much gets said around here about Marvel being more popular than DC...

too bad if JonL leaves. However, i think wizkids will have enough sense to stick another comic lover on the heroclix staff.

As long as HeroCLix is made equally between Marvel and DC (and Indy), with equivalent power levels, I'll be happy no matter who the lead designer is.

if the new rule book is only planned to come out with indyclix, i wonder if they'll be sent free with prize support to give to the players?

i hope so, especially if there are fundamental rules changes.

Well, I know Jeff Quick was the lead developer BEFORE Jon L. Does this mean he's coming back?

More likely, they'll put it up as a PDF on their web site for people to print out.

Thanks Andrew,

By the way did you hear anything about the rumor regarding IndyClix UK version having more 2000 AD figures than the IndyClix US version, replacing Crossgen figures with them? I'm a big fan of Judge Dredd and my old roommate read 2000 AD so I'm familiar with many of the characters (Sinister Dexter, Durham Red, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, Slaine, Nemesis, A.B.C. Warriors). Just one of the more interesting rumors that I've heard as of late. Next time you end up on the west coast for Shadowfist or HeroClix we will have to meet. Cheers,
