Wizkids had a good presence at Wizard World East and were quite forthcoming about future plans. Points of interest:
1. IndyClix will have a revised rulebook which is intended to clear up all the current troublespots in the HeroClix rules. They were close-mouthed about the details though so it wasn't clear if this will include changes to the mechanics such as the flying carry rules.
2. Jon Leithusser is being assigned to a different game and so HeroClix will soon have a new lead developer. I think that Jeff Quick was the name mentioned but my memory of this is fuzzy. It was certainly one of the existing staff.
3. Marvel are said to love the game and so renewal of the licence should not be a problem. The story goes that Marvel wanted to seem hard-to-get but the truth came out when Wizkids visited their offices. When the Wizkids guys announced themselves, the receptionist complained that "they stole my Hulk". It turns out that Marvel's editors play the game every lunchtime. Of course, the money men might still screw things up but I was quite encouraged by the upbeat attitude of Wizkids' top execs.
4. Ideas for new big figs were solicited and all the usual suggestions were made (Fing Fan Foom, etc). They still don't seem keen on the idea of a Galactus figure and that's a shame, IMO. If MechWarrior can have its drop ship, HeroClix ought to have a 1000-point monster too. But they are certainly open to suggestions.
