Favourite DC Villains

As I said in my favourite heroes post:

The best villains are Darkseid, Mordu, Culp and Vandal Savage

I also include the Brainiac with the yellow hair and green skin (I don't care for Brainiac 13)

BTW, the Mordru fig is WOEFULLY underpowered. 109 points! What are they thinking? This man trashed the JLA, the Legion and took on Doctor Fate in his own freakin' medallion!

Even the Legion needed another Sorceror to just even it up!

Mordru ought to be almost the mystical equivalent to Galactus. At very least, they should have made him in the 200+ point range. This is the guy that Mon-EL and Superboy ran away from!

and the best villain when written well is
LEX LUTHER

All you have to do is dip your hand into Arkham Asylum and pull out a gem.

If handled correctly Batman villains can instill immeasurable levels of terror in the average man. Behind their gimmicks lie a core of insanity, and the frightening possibility of reality.

At first glance they may seem silly and under-powered. However, within each lurks true villainy - insanity unchecked by the morals of the common man.

The writer who chooses Riddler, Scarecrow, the Mad Hatter or, god forbid, the Joker had better strap himself in for a trip through the macabre.

These characters are sadists and killers. Only the Bat is willing to join them in their miasma of mental mania. Within the darkness of insanity he wields the same weapons as his prey... only the Bat fights for us.

As a villain the Joker stands out as a true psychopath. His deeds have left a trail of murder and disfigurement throughout the DC universe. Who else in either the Marvel or DC continuums can rattle off a list of crimes that hold to this very day? Who else has killed a hero? Who else has crippled a hero? Who else has murdered the wife of a main character... and had those moments remain?

True, others have committed unspeakable acts, but their achievements fade with time or are covered up with continuity changes and revamps.

Ask Commissioner Gordon about the depth of the Joker's evil.

The permanency issue means we have to scratch off:

Doomsday, Bane, Neron, Graven and The Suit. Their kills/cripples all recovered. Did any other victims come back from death or being damaged?

And c'mon, did David Knight ever really become Starman? Wasn't he picked off on his first night out?

Here's my top 5 DC Villains, in order:

1. Joker. Let's get this straight. He's the complete opposite of Batman. Down to their very existances, they are complete opposites. If there was ever a God and Satan in comics, it'd be these two (I'll leave who is who to you!).

2. Parallax. Crazed Hal Jordan=Uh oh.

3. Ra's Al Ghul. The one guy to ever use Batman vs. everyone. Read JLA: Tower Of Babel.

4. Lex Luthor. Not only the main thorn in Superman's side, but he's beginning to stab at the Bat as well.

5. Prometheus. Ok, this one's a little personal, seeing as how he's one of my favorites instead of one of the best. I just think the whole "I am every hero, but I'm evil" attitude is awesome. Now only if he could do something about that Catwoman......
