I'm not really up for it this week...too much work and too much school...but I'll give it a try. BTW, anyone with a family who works full time and is considering goin to school in the summer: it's a ballbuster. No time at home, no time to study, and not enough rest. Hopefully it will all be worth it.

The previous tourney frustrations were behind me. As a bonus, there was some fallout from the 6 con artist tourney so they instilled some house rules. No name dupes. No more than 2 of any generic. Different and interesting. I played a tried and true team of:

U Green Goblin 62
U Electra 36
U Nightcrawler 83
R Vulture 15
U Wasp 44
E Black Panther 36
V Haqnd Ninja (Ranged) 16
R Paramedic 8

1st round - Ian playing:

Gambit, Mystique, Doc Ock, Con Artist x2

We start and I move all my people in just a bit. I play conservatively this game for some reason, and it costs me. He starts setting up all his perplexers and places the stealthers in hindering. I bring Elektra and BP into B2B with his Gambit and get Elektra to BCF for 4. Somehow, I either miss with BP or can't base him and he breaks next turn. Then the #### hits the fan and I start rolling badly. And Ian is a dice god. He rolls several breakaway rolls, and a couple of really high rolls to hit my Nightcrawler. He hits me with a 10 when he needed a 9 and an 11 when he needed a 10. :(I miss SS 2 (4 times this game total) and have to retreat with Nighty. Nightcrawler got knocked out of his supersenses/HSS by a Vulture with like 3 clicks of damage! When all was said and done, he killed my entire team. Only missed 1 time the whole game and I never got more than 2-3 hits in. Just horrible. To his credit, his team was very solid and perplex did help on some rolls. To mine, this is part of the gameand when it happens you just have to suck it up. I know I made at least 2 misplays (once pushing a medic out of support when it wasn't a critical situation and another when by not concentrating on his Doc Ock instead of everyone else). I made some mistakes and Ian played very well, but the dice were definitely not helping out.

Round 2
Ed playing Brotherhood
Ed was a decent guy who seemed unhappy with his team. He commented how he didn't want to play HC anymore and this tourney was cementing that, etc. It gave the match a somber feel to it. He starts off by turtling indoors with several barrier guys. slowly inching on, room by room. I waited until I made a leadership roll and went for the throat. I perplexed NCs Damage, punched a wall, flew in BP and Elektra and BCF killed Magneto in one turn. It was downhill from there. He charged with Sabretooth and gutted my Black Panther for 4. I flew Elektra away to concentrate on his Support crew (leaving a pushed Sabretooth against Nightcrawler, GG, and Wasp. My Ninja slowly chipped away at his barrier guys and I eventually won, only losing my BP.

Round 3 - Alex playing Masters of Evil.

Alex has a very wacky team that can be devastating in the right situations. He's a cool dude and we spend the match talking smack and egging each other on in a very cool and humorous manner. He plays very aggressively, pushing all his guys into B2B with my guys on a rooftop and murders my Medic like 2nd turn. This wasnt such a good move as he has just pushed all his guys and mine are gonna clear on my turn. I start in on R Ultron and V Hyde and kill off Ultron in 2 turns or so. He gang punches Elektra and fails with 2 characters so Elektra is still alive (barely). He fails some breakaway rolls and his now Ultron and Hyde-less team is not such a threat. I whittle him down to Vulture and Scorpion and eventually he stoops really low (well they are the MASTERS of Evil) and basically pushes his scorpion to death just to kill my defenseless and dying Electra. A very fun match.

Due to the first round slaughter, I am basically out of the running for 1st. In the end I finish 2nd, never having played the winner and go home after having a great time. The winner got Emil Blonsky and Fellowship was Sara St. John.

Sorry of I bored you with this one, like I mentioned, I'm basically a zombie right now and don't have the pep for this.

Maybe next time, I'll kick it up a little.

Take it easy.

Great report onew0rd. It's a shame that we didn't get to play each other in a fourth round. I on the other hand took on Ian in the 3rd round for 1st and won. I ran with the following
U Moondragon
V Doc Otc
V Mystique
R Destiny
R Black Panther
V Paramedic
V Samurai
U Shadowcat
We were on the Marvel expansion map, the park one. I started by the tower and had placed 3 objects up there for Mystique and +1 defense for Oct and Moondragon. I basically took advantage of a perplexed range of 12 with Moondragon. I managed to MC his Oct from a range and use his own perplex to up his damage to hit Mystique in hindering for 3 clicks. I let Samurai walk right into the mass of his squad to base with his medic. In the end, I lost Shadowcat and Destiny where he lost his entire force.
