Just for casual play with my friends, here are the main figures I am using.
V Bullseye, V Human Torch, V Annihilus, E Klaw, U XP Elektra, and R Destiny.
We aren't seasoned tourney players or anything, but they work well when we just play casual. I usually put Klaw, Bullseye, and HT on buildings and snipe his dudes with ranged attacks, and if they get too close, I have Elektra and Annihilus to lay on the hurt. I like Destiny. I protect her and my opponent hits me a lot less. Probability is awesome! I also like Elektra's Perplex, and her BCF has saved me a lot from his V Juggernaut. I have kinda limited figs(about 50), but open to suggestions. I have been playing for a month, collecting for 3, so I'm a rookie, and am looking to the vets for some pointers. Thanks!

Well, it seems like you prefer ranged combat to gettin' up close'n'personal, so if I were you, I'd just find figures that suit your style of play. Long range, 3-4 dmg (RCE or Perplexable is nice), solid ranged defense (I always park my ranged guys on some hindering terrain w/ their taxis behind them. Helps add to their defense).
My favorite ranged figures are V Dr. Strange (probably because I really love the character from the comics, and having 2dmg+RCE is cool, not to mention all his other powers on his dial), V Firelord (sue me. He's great for what I need him to do, which is blast, blast, blast), V Bullseye (high atk+RCE=me happy), and a host of others.
Lately I've been into using ranged figures that have Perplexable or Enhanceable dmg, ie, they don't have RCE, but still have high dmg. Guys like V Human Torch, V Taskmaster (man do I love that figure), V Magneto, E White Queen (Perplex up that unblockable Psychic Blast. Beautiful) and figures like that. I also am a big fan of B/C/F because ninjas are TOTALLY SWEET and they fight ALL THE TIME:p, so guys like V Silver Samurai, V Taskmaster, Spiral & other high atk B/C/F'ers are good.
Another thing I tend to pick out are characters w/ high defense. A team I've used to great success is:
V Dr. Strange 87
E Firelord 81
V Doombot 38
V Wasp 37
R Invisible Girl 37
V AIM Medic 17
297pts.
It's essentially one-trick pony, but what a trick it is. Blast, blast, blast away w/ Strange & Firelord, then hightail it back to Invisible Girl. I used this team in a Marvel head-to-head tourney some time ago and absolutely CRUSHED my opponents. This was before I got a U Wasp & an E Paramedic (swap the medics and swap the Doombot for U Wasp). Incredibly hard to hit and deals a lot of damage from far away. Beautiful.
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is use what characters you like and what you have fun with. Don't be afraid to try new things, either. You might find something you really like! As long as you're having fun, who cares how "uber" your team is? Just have fun!
i found a 300 point team that isnt that bad
e blastaar
v scarlet witch
e sandman
e pyro
r shield medic
r hydra medic
i forgot to add something, you can switch out v scarlet witch for a v bullseye since you like guys with range but scarlet witch has avengers and probability control
