Like a lot of figures that require some kind of transformation to take place, Witchblade starts with a click in which she’s fairly normal, other than a click of Stealth. After she pushes or takes a click of damage, the Witchblade becomes active and her combat values increase significantly and gains some Charge, Energy Shield/Deflection, and, of course, Blades/Claws/Fangs. She has a range of 4 in her Rookie version and 6 in her other versions. Near the end of her dial she has a couple of clicks of Regeneration as the Witchblade heals Sara back up to a more powerful level. This figure is pretty straightforward, the only real problems I had with it was determining just how powerful she should be. I think she’s tough both offensively and defensively, but is still a reasonable figure, especially for her cost.</FONT></TD></TR></TABLE>

BCF with charge is always fun... and this one doesn't have battle fury which is a plus... but eh, I'm still not terribly impressed with the previews still. I'm also still kinda miffed about the whole UK getting way cooler figures than we are... but oh well.

Atleast this is one "rumored" figure we can confirm.

I hope they show one of the other Danger Girls next week... I'm hoping for them much more than Abby... so it would be a great thing to see.

Is this ANOTHER figure where they have a Unique and REV? We already have that with Danger Girl (swimsuit), and now we have it with Witchblade? I didnt like the overabundance of this Infinity Challenge.

The art on these sculpts look fantastic. The sets just keep looking better and better.

They are really learning how to do flesh tones too. Just take a look at Luthor in CJ and compare him with the pasty faced Superman from Hypertime. No comparison. The paint blending is really good at this point.

This is probably the best Indy sneak preview yet.

And as Darius Dax said "Cool! Another BCFer with CHARGE!!!".

But what would really be cool is if she had it w/like a 12 speed. We really need a character w/12 speed charge and BCF.

That would just kick ###!

Yep, she is definetly 'Top Cow' amongst the others. I really wished that they came up with another team affiliation than what they named them.
I hope the unique is stronger than what is given

I like the point spread. It seems like there might be significant upgrades between figures instead of just a 5 point difference and a subtle change.

Spidersense, from a business POV, there's probably a bunch of REV & U's because the comic companies wanted their main figs to have significant representation, and so that no one company would be more represented than another.

And as long as they are different sculpts with different powers, who cares? This way people who like a particular figure get more of what they want. :)

Darth Sabre
07/30/2003, 16:13
Oops, can't edit!

Actually, she sounds ALRIGHT, nothing fancy. For the points, she seems pretty good-but I'm betting that her numbers are somewhat moderate-to low.

A charging B/C/F fig can make for a good offensive figure.

That First click of Stealth, as Webhead stated, may be good.

The sculpt looks kinda lame, if you ask me.

She has a gleam to her that makes her look, mannequin-like.

Still, nothing's blowing the doors off for me, out of this set.......at least, not yet. :disappoin:

I saw a sneak at the unique at GenCon. It didn't look like it had an activation click at all. So I'm betting that's going to be the big difference. Can't remember what else she had though.

I Believe that the UK is not getting some figs available in North America, so maybe the UK traders will have something nice to trade us for and vice versa. Which figs aren't available in UK by the way, I know we won't be getting a bunch of Judges from Judge Dredd.

Azs:

Yeah, I see your point, but it is a trend that I am basically not in favor of. I actually dont mind if they do it over a couple of sets, but within one set I feel like I got a little cheated.

I guess they while there very well may be future expansions, they arent going to assume there will be a 2nd or 3rd expansion of Indy Clix, so they better strike now with the popular/well known figures, i.e. Danger Girl/Witchblade.

The more I think about it, Sara probably deserves a REV + Unique. But Danger Girl? Nah.

Is this just going to be the hot babes with B/C/F set? Give us something new to wet our appetite with WK! Still going to buy it, can't have enough 'Clix. Make mine Babe HeroCl...er..Indy HeroClix!;)

Twistedly cool, Shin. I'm voting for you the next time I have to vote for anything.

I say the more Witchblade figs, the better. Don't know why, I jsut say it.

I'm hoping this version of Sara can make a good team filler. Assuming her stats are right for hitting something. Since it looks like she'll hit her prime clix mid-game, she might be good for taking out figs that have been softened up by heavier foce members in the early game . . . we'll just have to see.

shin-goji
07/30/2003, 17:05
Is it possible that all IndyClix figures are designed to be fillers for Marvel and DC teams instead of stand alone teams?

darius_dax1
07/30/2003, 17:06
I know what disturbs Shin about the Indy Clix set. There are no munchy mutants in the X-Men or Brotherhood teams for his Sentinel ARMADA to gobble up for triple point value.

Before WK was very hush hush about mixing sets, now they are encouraging it even going so far as to promote house rules during tournies. This would allow people to play with IndyClix on Marvel and DC teams.

There's no munchy mutants in DC either, but I'll still happily grab a DoS Superman for double points.

The fig has promise. The game breaker here will be the stats on the "human" click.

Otherwise, she sound's playable, but again, the full dial will really be the decider. Then again, you can always toss her in a Con Artist army and have her take a Pulsewave hit to get to the good stuff if need be. *shrug*

She moves for free so getting her to the second click on a push will not cost you an action, so that's always good.

shin-goji
07/30/2003, 17:16
She'd have to drop stealth to get pulsewaved. That stealth on her first click will help her live longer than any other activation figure.

07/30/2003, 17:25
Am I the only one disappointed by yet another random chick click? I'll admit it, I don't read most of these comics. I only read Hellboy out of the whole set of Indy Clix that has been talked about so far. That isn't to say that I don't read independant comics. I just read the good ones. ;)

I'm feeling a serious case of "sour grapes" coming on. Not enough properties that I care about in the set and more cheesecake than Blob could eat in a sitting. Yay. Color me excited. At least there won't be Spawn for me to ignore in the set too. And nice sculpts can always go under the knife for conversions.

shin-goji
07/30/2003, 17:27
Mr. P, Witchy is one of the more known faces of IndyClix. She's supposedly got her own Animated Series, but that's like saying you have a show on the WB.

Eh. Let's see a powerful fig. Someone over 100 points, so we can see what type of bruisers will be in this set, ya know?
We got Leap / Climbing BCF, now Stealth/Push click BCF, let's see something new and powerful, like Pulse Wave/Mind Control or something...
This fig dosn't look bad, mind you - just not too inspiring...

chase_jyd
07/30/2003, 17:59
Despite the mixed reviews, I love this figure already. Push click to keep her cost down, followed by BCF and charge. Awesome. Regen so she can be more self-supporting, and likely regen right back into her prime clicks.

But even better, push click has stealth so she has some protection to help avoid first strikers and such, and even better, free move to make pushing her that much easier.

Economical figure. If her attack value is anywhere near what it should be after her push, this sounds like a well designed, very dangerous figure.

I don't know about everyone else, but at least potentially, depending on her stats, this figure impresses me, and there's finally a review that really makes me look forward to the set, even if I don't follow Witchblade terribly closely.

Wait a minute. Stealth. Then Charge with BCF. Then Regeneration. Is she just a Wolverine?

And Shin, I know who Witchblade is... I just don't read it (or watch it on the WB!). But this isn't really the place for me to rant about the selection of properties for Indy Clix. We now return you to your regularly scheduled cheesecake.

I think I will like her, 'cause she got BCF and no Battle Fury. And 'cause it seems she has nothing I don't need (and remember a starting click sinks the pointscost) she may be hitting hard...

WarHULK
07/30/2003, 19:35
Well, reading over her info again she has the potential of being this set's Hawk... push to strong stats and good powers... She trades SS and CCE for BFC and Toughness for ESD but she regains some staying power by having Regen on her dial... most of her powers are cheaper powers than those found on Hawk so it's *possible* that she might get comparable high stats after her first activation click. If she does get some great power-clix then I'll be sure to play her on ocassion.

I really hope there's a cheap female pulsewaver in the set so I can keep with the "ho" theme with a little Con Artist/Witchblade activation move. Toss an E Dove in there as a flier for Witchy and that might be a hell of a team...

KaiserSelroc
07/30/2003, 19:45
Shouldn't Witchblade be...you know...half naked? Most of the time in the comics, she has nothing on except for the witchblade covering her bits and pieces.

I'm also kinda suprised by her point cost. Stealth protecting her until she "hulks up", and then charge, b/c/f and es/d followed by regeneration for 28 points? Her attack, speed and defense values must be pathetic, and her dial probably has something like 5 clicks of health or less.

So imagine my surprise when I see the Indy clix on display at GenCon. There were 6 Dredd figs. Dredd himself, of course, Judge Death, Judge Fear, Judge Mortis (sp?), Judge Hershey (great pose, by the way - she's doing a flying kick, both feet out, supported on one hand) and a generic Judge (Mega-City Judge, or some such, except it wasn't Mega-City and I can't remember which city it was).

Well I like this better than "Ian the Un-Silver Samurai" we got last week. But Shin brings up a good point most of the indyclix stars are scantily clad female versions of blade. There really aren't any complete powerhouses.

If you ask me they need to make Sonic The Hedgehog, clix. He had a darkhorse comic there for a little while. Forget Nightcrawler, Sonic would rock.

And isn't interesting how we instantly relate all women to #####s because they just happen to be showing a lot of skin. Most all of the female population of comics an inturn clix are sculpted and drawn in the same fashion, yet we still call them hoes.

PantherPriest

And actually they are getting better in sculpt work. I like that someone took the time to sculpt the individual kinks in John Stewarts hair. Now if only they could get skin tones locked in I'd be amazed.

My local store told me that Wizkids confirmed with them that there was indeed 2 sets and one would be released in the UK only. The differences were a few figures (maye even 1 unique) and a different packaging. Oh, and my store is also getting me cases of the UK as well as US release! Go me!

I think that if this set sells well enough then other indy comics will jump on the bandwagon and we will end up having unaffiliated figures. Also, let's not forget that there is the Helboy team (I can't remember the abbreviation) so I would assume that all Hellboy villians will be unaffiliated... Same with Danger Girl villians.

scissors
07/30/2003, 22:32
BRPD is the Hellboy team in the comics, if they're smart enough to carry that over in the clix....
BTW anyone else think that the 200AD TA sounds like it'll probably just be the PD aility....

As for this the sculpt is okay but I wish this was the unique and the ad scuplt was the REV. With rationales for powers like "He wore armour once so we gave him ES/D" you'd think a dress worn by the character once would be the unique and the nothing but armour look she usually sports would be the REV independently of the appearance/ powers connection.

By the way shouldn't someone who caught a bullet in one issue get a click of supersenses?

Ah well. I'll be happy if I get this and the Hellboy characters and save my compulsive set completing for the two big guns

I doubt INdy clix will have too many people that are over 100 points because of the type of characters that are usually in independent comics. I can't think of anyone really who would have Incapacitate or Invulnerability and those are two of the more expensive powers.

Looks like indy clix are gonna suck.

for those who care. crossgen has a title called Sigil and in said title the main characters name is SamandahlRey. he is a VERY powerful. in one issue he stopped a planet from explodin' and he also built a his ship, bitterluck, outta raw material w/ said powers. cant wait to see how they define him.

Looks like indy clix are gonna suck. Just because they aren't bricks doesn't mean that they can't be over 100 points. Look at V/U Batman, Mandarin, Electra: Assassin...

Plus, we still don't know who all they got for other Top Cow or Image guys.

Hmmm, sounds like he'll be about 4000 points, can't wait!

Hm, she's relatively cheap and low powered, so I guess that that Ian Nottingham guy actually has a chance of beating her. Still, it may be for the best that they aren't AE's.

As others have pointed out, there are too many B/C/F girls in this set (Witchblade, Shi, and Kabuki at least)! Why would we want to/need touse any of them when that's what Elektra's for? Well, here's to hoping that the next preview is someone with more varied powers...

I saw 2 figs in the WK display case at GenCon over 100 pts. One was the Unique Hellboy @ 166, IIRC (Charge & SuperStrength on his first click - and I think toughness, or maybe Inv. I think he had a 10 or 11 atk. Sorry for the sketchy details, but there were so many figs to look at. I should have taken notes or something;)). There was also another guy who was 188. I remember not being impressed with what I could see of his first click. 10 atk, for one.

There was a Darkness fig, but I don't remember if it was U or r/e/v.

BRPD is the Hellboy team in the comics, if they're smart enough to carry that over in the clix....

BRPD was the team symbol on the Hellboy r/e/v (he had a U and r/e/v - two completely diff sculpts. The U was reddish-purple with two long curving horns on his head)

I'm not sure where [rumor] the UK clix distribution would be different came from...I've heard people pretty confidently say it, but I've not seen a thread where someone in the know..even a person attending a convention stating it directly....

I'd like to know about this one for sure. If anyone's out there...and they could link to a thread or post that answers this question a little more directly..I'd appreciate it.

Got to talk to JonL for a couple minutes. He said there were 8 figs that would be diff in the two releases. Idiot me, I realized a few minutes after he left I should have asked if that meant 8 total, or 8 r/e/v's which would be 24. Anyway, not to worry too much, he said they would be available for a limited time here (I presume it will be the same on both sides of the pond), so you should be able to get both releases, if you're so inclined. On the positive side, it means we're getting more than 96 figs in the set.

Also that 5 Marvel/3 DC set rumor is not true. Marvel's just been getting more media exposure what with all the movies, so they've been taking advantage of the free advertising by releasing Marvel sets quicker.

Finally, if someone could point me to a rumored Indy list, I could see what else I can remember seeing.

M!

I don't think she's inexpensive for her powers. I think she's overrated, especially for a title character.

just a quick question because i'm a curious little monkey.
some of you have apparently seen these figures at gencon.

are her arms articulated or are they just attached very poorly?

i hope wk isn't going to try making these figs with articulation, they have enough trouble just keeping them on the base.

shin-goji
08/03/2003, 14:04
I seriously doubt they'll be articulated. Although an "action punch" would be kind of neat.
