WizKids is pleased to announce the Pacific Northwest Regional HeroClix Championships, in association with Dragonflight Gaming Convention in Seattle, WA, sponsored in part by Wizkids Games. The event will take place on Sunday August 17th, noon – 6pm. Dragonflight is one of the Northwest’s premier gaming conventions, located in Seattle’s famous Capitol Hill district. The weekend will include all types of gaming fun; to check it all out visit www.dragonflight.org.
Because of the need to share space with other games (huh? There are other games besides Heroclix????) this event will be ticketed and the attendance will be limited to 80 people. Tickets will be available all weekend at the convention ticket office on a first-come first-served basis, so get there early!!!
The main event will be a DC booster draft, with three sealed boosters used to build a 300 point team. Come with your sealed boosters, or stop by the dealer’s room to purchase some before the game. Rounds will be set at 10 turns or 50 minutes (which ever comes first), and points will be accrued normally along the lines of the “Challenge of the Champions” scenario (KO points and survival points both tallied for a total score).
There is one special rule involved, that of the Tie Breaking Token! Because of the sheer number of participants expected, we have to expect a number of tie games as eventualities. So, as the game begins, a special token will be placed in the center of the board. Any figure adjacent to the token can pick it up as part of a normal move action. If you are KO’d, the token falls to the square the figure was KO’d in, and can then be picked up by another figure. If that game results in a tie then the team that ends the game with the token will win the game (and, if there are ties for the final round of 4, those teams who have gotten that far with the most Tie Breaking Tokens will move on, so it’s an important little token to pick up!).
We hope to see you there!P>The Info:
What: Pacific Northwest Heroclix Championship
When: August 17th (Sunday) at noon - 6pm
Where: DragonFlight Role Playing Game Convention
Seattle University - Campion Tower
900 Broadway

I looked at the Miniatures events page......that's the only HC event that they have listed! :(

Heavy on the MW games though.

This is one championship you can't win with dual Fire-Wasp.

Sorry, Rex. :(

So is it 15th through the 17th or on any of those days.so like do you sleep there or come each day or come one of the days. I'm very confused. I live in Woodinville and could possibly go if it was only one day.

Ahhh Spartanburg, I know thee well. Maybe I can send in all the Clix Points I still have and use them as TIE BREAK TOKENS? Will that get me prize support?

Well, thanks, guys. First-come first-served means that those of us who live out of town and would have come in just for the day are SOL.

How can it be a regional championship if the format (limited entry) gives preference to players in the Seattle area?

I live in Victoria. I would have taken the Clipper down on Saturday, gotten in at about 5, stayed overnight and played on Sunday.

I guess there's no point in that, is there?

Hey Scowlingone, I'm moving to the Comox Valley in Sept. What is Heroclix like in Victoria? I was thinking of going down with a bunch of friends to play in some tourneys until I can get it going in Courtenay. Do you guys get lots of people showing up?

Yeah I don't think they should call it a championship, it's really just a big regular tournament...

We get 2-3 tourneys a week between the two stores that run events. Usually the turnout at Curious is 6-10 players, and about half that at Yellowjacket. The competition is quite fierce; most of the regulars are in their 20s and 30s, although we do have a strong teen and pre-teen contingent, some of whom are very good.

But Victoria is an awfully long hike from Courtenay, isn't it?

Unfortunately, they don't run any events in Nanaimo, even though one of the stores there is an outlet of one of the venues here in Victoria.

I was going to go down there to visit my folks and I would like to go to some games while I was there. I am getting a venue up and running in Courtenay and if any of you guys are going to be in the area at the time, your welcome to come down to play. I know that clix is not really be on the island but I have to start somewhere.

ok folks....scowlingone raised a valid point, that out of towners won't have the same access to the tickets as those that take part in the whole weekend of dragonflight. so, to allieviate some of that, i've been able to secure 15 preregistration tickets for the heroclix event on sunday.

i went to some trouble to get these, so please pm me with your requests and include your name, address, and phone number (and email). no, you can't reserve any for others....and it's first come, first served.

so...hope that will help boost the attendence of some out of towners...

PS....we have TWO ted kords to give away (along with a bunch more stuff)...one for first prize and one for fellowship, so just by showing up and being yourself, you've got a chance to walk away with DC's most coveted prize!!!
