Thanks for the History Djangomank2k , I knew Hulk fought X-factor and had the guns then, but didn't know of the other times. It's good to see that some of the people who play heroclix actually read comics.

Sidenote: Why do people complain about getting more Spidey's and Wolvie's. You know it's gonna happen, there's no surprise to it. They are contractually obligated to put out one of those two with each set. I understand that some just don't wanna see more cause they already have one and don't really use it for play. However there's a players out there that are hardcore comic fans, that will have to have every spidey and would be happy to see more. I don't know I just don't see the point in repeatedly whining about it when it's inevitable.

Also I hope they bring Close Combat Expect to Marvel. That way Intelligent Hulk is tougher up close. Blades/claws/fangs just isn't a good power for him. Also good for a new Captain America

The whinning is inevitable because wizkids as ####ping out more spidermans and wolverines and hulks instead of figures we haven't seen yet, figures in high demand according to hcrealm postings like punisher or power man and iron fist, or maybe some avengers (whose book is better than all the x books combined) So YOU deal with it- I read plenty of comics, more than you have probably looked at- and I don't care if hulk beat up x-factor and sheild and some third world despot it's not like they could have hurt him anyway he's the HULK for gods sake, and on that note who hasn't kicked the crud outta x-factor and sheild it's laughable that the hulk needed guns to do it!! I stand by my posting hulk with guns is queer!!!!

I wouldnt mind the redundant daredevil/elektra duo, if at least one of each was playable. I sit at my mod desk looking at daredevil trying to find a reason not to mod him into someone else. And Elektra with those little dangly-things on her staff. Looks like she crashed on her Schwinn and still has ahold of her handlebars.

How about a Cosmic Spidey with flight?

Or a yellow/red Daredevil?

Elektra in her white uniform?

Cap as US Shield or whatever he called himself

I really thought the next series would be spiderman based with all the good spidey characters still out there:

and it would be great if spider man had the avengers team ability because he is a reserve member after all- I think a black capain america from the truth would be cool if nothing more than really unexpected, a yellow DD would be neat he should have super senses up the wazoo!!! and leap climb, because that's really all he did when he wore that costume;)

As much as I like Peter David while I was in college (the death of Jeanne DeWolf), I really hated his "frat-boy hulk". The spidey figure and the silver surfer are ready, along with the old captain america figure to reinact a Michael Jackson video (your choice, beat it, or bad)

Here we go... a new set.

Ignore the figures you don't want, use ebay for the figures that you want. At least a new set helps bring down the prices of the earlier sets because they draw more bids.

The Surfer will be a must, but the other three? Feh.

Brood? Maybe.

Hopefully we get some old school types in this set.

Is there any provenance for these pictures?

1. No copyright or trademark on the photo.

2. Hulk's feet cover the space where names, point costs, etc would normally go.

3. Surfer's flight base looks proportionately too large compared to his body and the other figs..

4. The reflections don't all show the same point (ie showing Hulk's knees but Surfer's board).

5. A white aura around the figures is a common means for Photoshoppers to hide an obvious paste-on-top-of-the-background job.

My 5 points do not preclude this image being real, it's just that I have my suspicions.

I'm not saying they're fake but I'd like to know where this shot came from. The internet has a bad rep for this sort of thing.

Reportedly, these are the same four figures shown to Envoys at the last con, so it should be legit.

It's also one of those rare storylines where you see the Hulk get totally owned by someone. Havok drained the gamma radiation out of his body and blasted Hulk into the next country. Hopefully Havok will be in this set too.

And yes, the Hulk should be wearing bunny slippers along with those guns. Great sculpts other than that.

Well since I know there was a lot of Press coverage about WizKids at GenCon, I guess I can confirm that yes these are the figures we saw in the Critical Mass preview there (I know I've seen articles mentioning these figs). And well if I'm wrong about that, I do hope the Moderators will let me know.

As for the whole image of all of them together, I couldn't say one way or another if it's official or not.

And remeber, WizKids preview figures can end up any any sort of base. Just because Spidey is on an old style base means nothing. Go back and look at the Scrye picture of Thor for the CT preview, he wasn't on a flying base.

I don't mind more Spideys and Wolverines. They are the most popular Marvel characters. Instead of Hulk with guns (how out of character is that? Just proves there are stupid stories out there that were big mistakes), let's have another Captain America! I'd even take a Sgt. Nick Fury!

WizKids may not be under contarctual obligation to do one of each of these every set but they do have to have everything approved by Marvel and if you have read Marvel as long as I have than you know that Marvel will push those three ( not elektra until movie is coming out) . And you know what Adding three uniques is not going to be that much closer for you to get those figs you want because then you will say that they didn't do that fig correctly and most of the big ones you want should be done a REV anyways :)

I guess people are sick of the whining because they are sick of the fact that some people just can't come to grips with the reality that there will be at least the big three in EVERY SET. Deal with this and get over it and find something else to do with your life than bore us with your unconstructive whines about the same figs being in each set when you know it is going to happen.

The humor is good and the demands/calls for favorites that aren't done great but pure whines about something that will not change is POINTLESS.

Do we need Patch ( NO) but hey there he is play him don't but don't whine and cry because it won't change this fact.

The Surfer sculpt looks pretty awesome. Kinda gets that prestige and power feeling from me. The board is probably a little short but I'm sure they had to think about the size constraints of a booster box.

I wish the Patch sculpt was in a different pose. I don't mind seeing another Wolverine but the sculpt is just very similar to the Logan sculpt and I would like some more variety.

The Spidey sculpt just looks plain awesome. I just hope that one of the Spideys they release will be good enough to be a tournament piece. None have been so far.

If the Pantheon Hulk had the bunny slippers then it would be perfect, as it is, it's still pretty friggin' cool. A big, powerful Hulk figure with a nice range and some big ranged damage. All of those people who complain about him having guns are just silly. He's a close combat fighter and he was working with a group that had all kinds of high tech weaponry, so that allowed him to do some damage from range before going in close. It's just smart battle tactics to have some artillery. He's done it several times in the comics and it's never seemed forced or cheesy to me.

HCF - I think that was the Wolverine limited series you are thinking of - Wolverine #1 has Wolvie as patch dressed in black standing on a pile of bad guys.

Lemme say this, though - I AM SO PUMPED! These figs look totally awesome, and by totally awesome, of course I mean sweet. All of these figs look ready to FLIP OUT and chop off other clix' heads! Surfer looks like he's about to deliver an exploding uppercut to somebody's privates! Spidey looks like he's about to kick your mom and your grandmom in the head simultaneously! Patch is all about severing limbs! Hulk looks ready to fight ALL THE TIME! A killing machine! I just wish he was wailing on a guitar - that would be SWEET!

Simply guessing, I'd suspect it'll be one of the first two Wednesdays in December (3rd or 10th) since the later they wait in the month the more shipping will become a nightmare for them.

k i dont mind their being redos of figures, their is no way the can make a character as a clix and prtray them exactly how they are in the comic books, each and every figure would be so high in point cost they would be unplayable. each incarnatiopn of spiderman for instance is focesing on a diferent power of his and a diferent way he fights. same with wovie, he has had so may different images and costumes they can make hundreds of wolvies and each o9ne would still be different(im waiting for the spy wolvie when he was with maverick and sabertooth), as for hulk, him i never liked to begin with in hte comics so i dont know what they would have to draw from.

IF they decide to re-do some of the characters, they really need to work on Professor X first. OMG...the greatest mutant mind in the world has a wussy damage of 1 (Unique) with NO Mind Control? I do agree on Capt. America re-do, but Magneto needs to be re-done too. Oh...while they are at it...add Flurry to Patch/Logan/Wolverine...whatever.

Jessica Drew was the first Spider-woman. Her costume was mostly red and yellow and she had black hair. She generated bio-energy 'venom blasts.' For a picture check out here:

The Spider-woman cfj28 was talking about, Julia Carpenter, first appeared during Secret Wars. Her costume was very similar to Spidey's black symbiote suit, but with silver gloves and boots, as well as having her red hair flowing out. She was able to generate psychic webs. And as to the figures -

I like the Surfer. I do think the Patch pose is too close to the Logan pose, but the Spider-man pose just rocks. And personally I'm glad to see the Professor Hulk, although I agree the Bunny Slippers would have been nice.

I love the idea that they redo people like Spidey, Wolverine and Hulk. Elektra sucks.

Anyway, this gives people options. If you want to play one of them, you have a big variety of powers and fighting styles to choose from. Since these characters are major icons of Marvel, it makes sense to give the most amount of players possible these options when playing.

Besides, it's like 3 characters out of the 40 new ones you're going to see. Not a big sacrifice.

I was thinking the same thing. I think they have created a clix that will be harder and more sought after than Nightcrawler. And he looks a little weird from the side view, but I am still anxious to get a hold of him. Can't wait to see his dial.

As for the others, I am getting sick of Spidy/Hulk/Wolverine. More so of Spidy and Wolverine. Wolverine is like a sick old tired mule that Marvel just keeps beating. Like a used up tube of tooth paste that has all the paste gone and they keep squeezing the hell out of it. Just kill the #### guy already and let Marvel evolve without having to rely on their mutant/wolverine crutch.

Whoa! Sounds like this set's gonna rock! Hope so, b/c it's got a lot to live up to since it's following up X-Plosion (my favorite single set so far).

Silver Surfer! Another Defender at last! Now we just need an Angel and Namor to round out the high profile members.

Another Spidey? I'm a Spider-fan, but it seems a little unnecessary. Ah WTF, I'll go w/ it. Hopefully they'll make him right this time. (BTW, how's "Leapfrog Spidey" sound as a tag for him?)

Patch and artillery Hulk seem kinda aukward, but once again I'll go w/ it. Hopefully they'll be fun to use at least from a utilitarian standpoint.

Ah, Venom, at long last. All I can say is that I have a feeling that he's either gonna be really good or really bad. Of course, I'm hoping for good, but they could easily pull a Scorpion on him. (It's mentioned clearly several times in the comics that he has more raw power than Spidey, so why are his Attack and Damage so low?)

A friend of mine did a conversion of hobby, turning him into Green Goblin complete with pumpkin bomb and very cool glider. I play him on the GG U base.

the only spideman fig i liked so far was black suit spidy.
But i love leapfrog spidy. Great sculpt. As for wolverine as patch I find it ok. Silver surfer looks good. Thanks Wizkids maybe now i can quit reading complaints of no sufer. But get ready for "its not right" " he sucks" etc...
As we all know someone always thinks it wasn't done right.
Hulk with gun.... well if it was in a story line ok then.
I hope the venom fig looks as good as these.

They did announce an eventual retirement for IC, though no timeframe was given. The Indyclix starters will become, at least for a time, the default starters in terms of having up to date rules and Powers cards. All that said, I still don't expect them to officially retire IC (or HT for that matter) until they're ready to come out with a new base set of figures. The question then will be how many of them will be tweaked versions of the figures in IC?

We should also remember that as they've ceased production of Clobberin' Time already - we're in sell-through mode from warehoused stockpiles - we could be seeing reworked versions of some of those coming through soon, too. I suspect the #1 wish in that respect will be an r,e,v for Nightcrawler, with the question then being of how they'll stack up against the U version.

ok folks i went back and clicked on the pic and got a closer look.
The spiderman fig is not much wider than the base.
Also his hands come togather at the gargoyle head
if it is a big fig there might be a pin under the hands that goes into the gargoyle head simular flyers.
The hulk figure looks about the same height as a typical flyer which makes it about 1/4 taller than Mr.fixit and savage hulk.
he doesn't look much wider than the arm spand of savage hulk.
So don't worry i'm sure they will fit in the boosters...lol

Lots of spoiler stuff in the Icon USA ad. But it is great stuff to know, and I definitely will be buying this, especially with the Surfer coming out. The other three are cool too, with the "Patch" being the least cool. I didn't buy that particular Wolverine series very often, but I seem to recall Patch ran around in a black, wrestling style jump suit and black gloves. I guess that looked too much like th Unique in IC, so they went with this brown suit, which looks odd.

I too don't think the packaging will be an issue. I just hope I can get most of the figs I want.

I don't remeber where i read it but they will also be twopacks(2 figs in a package) coming out later this year.
So if we do get new starters for Marvel we will be able to get these in starter/booster/2pack sets.
I wonder if they will do premeire sets any more.
Since they just did one for Mech warrior I hope so.
I hope they do like they did for mech warrioir where the premeire had two uniques in it.

Everybody who is complaining about another Wolverine, Spidey and Hulk, can send those figs to me if you get them. I do not mind having another copy of those. But you will probably keep them when you get them. After all, complaining about them and not not telling that they actually look pretty cool makes you a cool person and you can hang with the cooler kids who think that everything is stupid. But thats okay with me, as long as you send me the Wolverines and Spideys and Hulks.

It was mentioned (the base) though if it means an AE I'm with those presuming it'll be Venom, given that he's in this set.

From what our local venue Judge is saying is that Dark Phoenix will be a large figure put out with the next set. She will be the small HeroCLix size, but with a Huge Phoenix background. Similar to the Sentinal and Sinestro she will have 100,200,300 point varieties. That will ROCK!!!!

I'm hyped because of the large size Hulk! This opens up the possibilty if seeing one of my all time favorite characters, Atlas, show up in a regular booster! Goliath of the MoE would be acceptable...

And I KNOW we can always expect Logan/Spider-Man/Hulk in each set, but I would REALLY like to see those spaces used by new characters (Thunderbolts/Alpha Flight/Wrecking Crew, more Defenders/MoE).

Well, this is some great news. All the figures shown look great... well, Wolverine looks "OK"... Great news about Venom and the Brood. My call is that The new Spidey and Silver Surfer will be REVs. We've only seen one REV of Spidey so far and we've seen 2 of Wolverine already... and 2 of Elektra...

Well, there's my speculation.

logan wore many different guises as "patch" he rarely hung out in that Madipoor dive bar wearin' his all black jumpsuit. that was his prowlin' gear. most of the time he wore suit pants and jacket.

My whole point is that Heroclix as a product doesn't need THAT many "chasers" to get folks to buy. EVERY Marvel set has had Elektra, Wolverine, Hulk, and Spiderman, in various forms. DC repeated 2, Batman and Superman. I have no problem with a few repeats, but really, when WK says 12 uniques, they really mean 8, as Wolvie, Hulk, Elektra, and Spidey will eat up 4. If Marvel had for example Hulk and Spidey in Xplosion, and Elektra and Wolvie in this set, I wouldn't be as annoyed.

And, anyone who believes Silver Surfer will get a R/E/V treatment is fooling themselves. He won't. He's going to be the Nightcrawler of 2003, we just have to live with it. It's all about getting us to buy a ton of boosters, and SS will be the pick 'de click. Everyone will want him, he should of been in Clobberin' Time, the heroclix players are salivating for him. He'll be as hard to get as WK can make it. And, I'll go on record as saying this, I'll be surprised if SS gets the Defender logo. They blew it with Moondragon, they'll probably blow it again. Look at Beast. Couldn't find a way to make him an Avenger? Bah.

And it isn't a "select few" players who are getting annoyed with repeats, its a growing number of players. And while yeah, its always cool to get a unique, to keep pulling the same character/different pose gets old. Granted, Daredevil wasn't done right in set 1, he gets another figure. But to keep on doing Spiderman is silly at this point. Xplosion was the closest you'll get to representing Spiderman, why do another one? Oops, to sell more, pure and simple. Now, if Spidey was done as Peter Parker, ok, now Wizkids did something fresh with Spidey. But Patch? Come on, its Logan without a hat, for cryin' out loud! Put Wolvie to rest man! How about fixing Captain America or giving us Barron Zemo finally?

Marvel has so many great characters, its a shame to keeping doing the same ones over.

Trust me, I'll be this annoyed if another Superman is done, save either a "Speeding Bullet" elseworld Super/Batman or else Superman Blue/Red. Same with Batman, unless they start doing like Batman Beyond or an all black suit Batman for the films, sans nipples of course. Otherwise, its just he same figure. I'm a HUGE Batman fan, but I was annoyed to see DC get Catgirl when there are so many great characters DC set 2 could of used as a unique. Sentinel, Spectre, Hal freakin' Jordan, Dr. Fate even. Catgirl? What a sad, sad waste.

Or when Indy Clix set 2 is done, and we get another Hellboy/Witchblade/Danger Girl. Stop doing redos, or at least cut back a bit.

4 each set for Marvel is a joke. 1 or 2, I have little/no room to complain. 3 confirmed is sad, and I'll be surprised if Elektra doesn't get another figure. Before anyone says "What can they do with her?" She hasn't appeared in her white outfit yet. Mark my words, WK will do another one of Elektra.

Hey Frontman, I'd like to trade the overmarketed monsters but EVERYBODY HAS THEM! their in every set! Wolverine has 5 figures, he isn't that varied, the figs dont even look very good, half of Spiderman's figs are done poorly at best and are widely unplayable. There are so many interesting characters in Marvel that arent the big cash cows. I suppose it's great if you like those characters but even the most obvious characters are getting overlooked in favor of old web-head and claws, there's no Punisher! 99% of the X-men are cooler then Wolverine, Spiderman's biggest draw was his Barbie doll-esque costume wardrobe. I like them both but they are arbitrarily making these figures based on popularity and frankly wasting valuable room in each set with redundent pieces.

I expect Silver Surfer to be a high rarity R/E/V like Green Lantern, Magneto, or Superman. He just doesn't look like a unique quality fig, know what I mean?

Wasn't keen on the Pantheon storyline in Hulk, but the Logan is decent, and the Spidey is gorgeous. Don't complain, boys... a new set is a new set. There'll be more in there that you like, than those that you don't. Stop bellyaching, and put your energies towards the spoiler list! Who wants to name it the Rutabaga this time around?

Once again, you act as if you're speaking for everyone. Does really everyone have them? I know people that STILL can find an IC wolverine or a CT Spider-Man. The point for making so many is to represent different versions of the character. People complain about every incarnation, and when they re-release them and fix what they are complaining about, they complain about something new. So that might play a factor. I dont know, Im not wizkids. Point is, there is always a buyer for anything. Always. Dont believe me? Look at eBays existance. Thats the other option. Sell it on ebay at the minimum price of what you bought the booster for. Then you've made your money back. Then, once you collect your money, quit #####ing. For every 1 person that complains, theres 5 that are content.

I agree there are SOME characters that have been overlooked. But most of them are stupid and/or obscure. As far as Punisher, does it not make sense that they would release him next year around the time of the Punisher movie as to boost interest in buying the set? If you think Heroclix was created to please the fans, you're wrong. Its a marketing tool. Thinking of it any other way in origin is ridiculous.

First of all, Im pretty sure they've covered most of the X-Men. Second, Wolverine is what draws out the fanfare. Go on, try and prove me otherwise that Wolverine is not a major reason why the X-Men are so popular. Im sure that all of the people would rather get James Marsden's autograph than Hugh Jackman's any day of the week, because Wolverine is so uncool. Point is, whether you want to accept it or not, Wolverine is the (for lack of better word) gimmick that keeps readers and viewers coming back for more to the X-Men. As far as Spider-Man, do I REALLY need to convice you of his popularity? And one last thing, you said "wasting valuable room in each set". Ummm..........mac? Its 4 slots. Count em, 4. What other uniques could fit in there that you're DYING to see that are so much more marketable and/or popular as Wolverine, Hulk, or Spider-Man (although I will concede that elektra gets too much press, especially looking at her comic sales as of late).

is correct. They are some of my favorite marvel characters
and clix like moonstone & absorbing man would add alot to the game. I'm not sure if there was a critical mass Nova story other then the fan fiction one on the NOVA PRIME web page.

Ok, after sleeping on it, I still think I'm disappointed at the amount of redo's, but with also something else bugging me.

Couldn't they at least have shown a character or two besides the "Big 3?" Ok, so we get Silver Surfer. That was smart, considering it stops the "Is he in the set?" talk. But, what about knowing a bit more about the other figures? I'd like to see some R/E/V talk about maybe Angel, or Namor, or any other freakin' characters besides Wolvie, Spidey and Hulk!

Now, out of those 4 figures, I thought about it, I'll bet that Spidey is the R/E/V. Wolverine got a "redo" R/E/V in CT, as did Elektra. Spidey hasn't had one done yet. Same with the Hulk, but the Gun's A blazin' Hulk doesn't seem to fit a R/E/V figure. Looks too good.

Now, if the Spidey is a R/E/V, I'll be happy. That's a great looking figure, and pulling duplicates of him would be cool. Spidey also seems to have the AE base, and if Venom gets a R/E/V, it would be cool for them to do the same with Spidey.

Ok, just some more for all of us to talk about.

I have to say on behalf of the many fans who would obviously like to have him in some form that I think you guys are being selfish in this. (Keep in mind, I not only have a Nightcrawler, but was lucky enough to pull a total of 3 - no this isn't a trading thread, and I traded one of them away months ago.) The perception that this is becoming just another rich guy's game (something I heard from too many former Magic players) will eventually hurt Heroclix. As a short term matter it's was one thing - it was something to be hoped for by many as they opened boosters - but now that CT has ceased production it's soon to be entirely in the hands of profiteers.

Here's how I'm hoping it'll go (keep in mind this is pure fantasy, based on not a shred of Wizkids info aside from knowledge of CT): By the end of September the warehouses are expected to have sold through their cases of Clobberin' Time, by which time the secondary sellers will be pushing them as rare, last chances at the set. Speculation on Critical Mass will continue to build, and one of - if not the - last sneak peek will be of an r,e,v Nightcrawler. They know that once they announce it the sales for the set will shoot for the sky, but they won't want to mention it too early or else the retailers will be upset in the sudden drop in interest in acquiring those last cases of CT. (Though there are plenty of other figs in that set to recommend it; depending on the specifics of the rule changes, those inexpensive TK units - Mandroid Armor - have the potential to be seen as sudden gold.)

I would hope that an r,e,v would reflect the development of powers that was seen in Kurt over the years, and that even the vet version would still be a little slower and less powerful than the U version - there should be some preservation of its uniqueness.

The R and E versions in particular could emphasize his ability to disappear into the shadows as Stealth (it was a major factor in his powers for years), and his ability to only travel to line of sight destinations would preclude the use of Phasing. Stealth and a high Speed - higher even than his U version - would be approriate, as he wouldn't have abilities that would call for HSS at that stage. No, wait... give him high Defense and SS, extremely high Speed, and Charge - that would better simulate his ability to reach a target and strike. (It's a shame that the Marvel Team Abilities doesn't include an analog for the Batman Team ability, as that would be perfect, always providing him with Stealth.) Also emphasized in those early years was how much the teleports took out of him - so I'd expect a sharper drop-off in Speed down the dial. The E version could start off with a click or two of HSS, a trend that would run deeper in the Vet version.

Anyway, that's my hopeful bit of imagining for the morning.

If your displeased with a product or service the people who provide those things should care if they've done poorly. Youd be suprised what an angry letter can do. While omitting the bunny slippers was a terrible blunder I'm looking forward to seeing this version of the Hulk. It was an interesting chapter in the character's life and deserves to be captured as a clix. Giving him a ranged option, and almost certainly a steadier dial, will be an interesting blend. Giving him some outwit to balance out the loss of sheer rage-induced peaks of Damage with this more intellectual side would be a nice touch, too.

While I agree with Litz that it's an unfortunate truth that the squeaky wheel does get the grease, it's easy for businesses to ignore people if they complain but don't modify their buying habits. If enough people react badly enough to what they see that they buy markedly less than they did of earlier sets, then it will be an effective complaint. Until then most of it's only whining.

Two things:
Complaining about a figure sculpt after the fact is pointless; it's already been made. It's being painted as you're reading this. They did exactly what the people asked for; they made a Silver Surfer figure. From a customer service standpoint, they have gone above and beyond what is expected of them. Complaining about it now smacks of immaturity. "Aw, man, it's not the Silver Surfer I had pictured in my head..." That's an unrealistic goal to put before any company.

And two...
Letters, however shrill or indignant, don't work. Not when the money is pouring in. What it says is, "I'm paying money for you to tick me off!" Well, guess what? Their job is done. If you REALLY don't like something, and you REALLY want to make a point to a company, then you have to not buy any of their products. That's the only way to do it. Period. Don't give them a dime. The company will notice, and they will either go away, or fix it. But until there's a massive drop in Heroclix sales (and I hope that doesn't happen), you won't see anyone trying to telepathically involve the fans in the process.

Someone earlier made a good point: for the comic book companies, this is a marketing tool. Wizkids is trying to make a good game. The comic book makers are looking at sets with an eye towards licensing and marketing. Something else to keep in mind when you think the company is deliberately trying to irritate you with more Spideys, Wolvies, and Hulks.

I don't play Dragonball Z CCG anymore thanks to Scores terrible deck sales practice wich, they admit is a cheap and easy way of making money, yuck. I'm reluctent to simply end buisness with someone haphazardly without first voicing my objections clearly and trying to informative and understaning of opposing arguments and oppinions. But if a company won't listen to its consumers especially in a fan driven industry, they will soon find themselves supported by only the blindly loyal and superfans, and not enough to continue buisness successfully. We will get past our uneasy fellings of quitting in favor of keeping our pride. I only hope (and like to believe, and from Indy's new rules it seems i'm right) that Wiz Kids do only one thing, and that's LISTEN TO US. First off I have to say I actually dont mind the sufer fig I think it look fine. But some figures are just really bad. As an artist I take great pride in creating something, if it's not up my standards I throw it out and try again. I for one want good looking figures, not the exact way I think they should look but I would like a cerain level of quality. These figures are to be dispayed and admired if not for the fig it'd just be a dial on the table. I want good looking figures, not perfect, just good, most are.
and two, Letters DO work, I know several people including my uncle who've been horribly dissatisfied with a product or service who've written letters stating they will cease buissness and gotten their money back etc. But unfortunately your right, most companies are too big to care, but some do, and if they believe you'll stop buying they still probably wont care. But if they believe enough people will stop they will, they have to. For the most part I think Wiz Kids is doing a bang-up job! I LOVE HC! My complaints and gripes are minor compared to the immense joy I get from collecting and playing this game.They are just problems I feel need to addressed. I agree Mr. Finn, I hope Hero Clix lasts along time.

Seriously, it's your opinion, and you're welcome to it. But, how can you complain about them selling to the "superfans"? That's kinda the point. To non comic people we're all freaks for spending this much on super hero toys (I don't feel this way of course, but try telling my wife that) "superfan" is a matter of perspective.

Wizkids is in this for the money, so you're complaining about the fact that they do something that will most likely make them more money.

Not so fair when your not one of the ones being catered to is it? It must be nice to be a Spiderman Wolvie Hulk fan, your favorite guys are in EVERY set, so you see nothing wrong with it. I like Spiderman and Wolverine a little but I know real big fans of ALL of them and THEY even think it's laying it on thick!
Indy lame? why, because there are no ultra hype monsters in it? Yeah it's my opinion, and yours is as valid as mine, but It's ridiculous to give any character no matter how popular, such unbelievable special treatment because when you do someone else recieves less, thus their fans are alienated.
The game is MARVEL hero clix, NOT Spider Clix etc. It's unfortunately useless to argue with some of you cause you just don't get it. Ok, before this becomes a flame war, Litz has a right to say his beef, just like anyone else on list, without taking cheap shots at him (like "his mom?" Braden, great way to cause a fight there dude. Why not call him "Sissy, sissy Sarah" while you're at it and really get him going.)

Look, so guys like me and Litz are getting annoyed with repeats. Wizkids watches the boards for feedback. If something about the product bugs you, you should say something before it gets to a point you hate the product.

While I'm not saying its bad business, they should begin to anticipate the over-saturation of the market. Look at any action figure line, and the line begins to tank when there is the multiple versions of the same character. If a new version of a figure makes sense *a'la Star Wars and Luke Skywalker in his various outfits/uniforms/lightsabers, ok. It might annoy some, but its understandable. But take a look at the Batman action figure line. Forget it. Its just redo's to get more $$$. Or the current WWE action figures. How many versions of Rock and HHH do you need? Short term, it makes cash, long term, it drives the consumer away. Bringing in new customers while driving out old will NOT give your line any growth, it will remain constant.

And that's the part that Marvel/Wizkids doesn't get. Sure, you'll get folks to purchase some boosters who might not if Spiderman isn't in it. But, eventually, collectors will get to a point of "Screw it, I'm buying singles from fill-in-the-blank.com" and not buying boosters anymore. Or, they might get out of the game entirely. That will lower booster sales. Lower booster sales means less income. Then it gets to a point of "ok, Heroclix was once hot, why isn't it anymore, what are we doing different?" Answer from the marketing boys, "Nothing. By the way, here's the proofs for the new Bunny Slipper Hulk, the Toby McQuire Spiderman, the Frank Miller Elektra (after the Sai through the gut) and the Wolverine without the healing factor looking really old from Genosha figures."

It's an attitude out of Marvel right now that frankly bugs the hell out of me. Say what you will about DC/Marvel/Independents, but out of the big 2, Marvel was mere days away from folding up shop permanently a few years back. Now that their movie products are generating $$$, they act like they are untouchable once again. Blind arrogance will get them knocked out of competition again, and I don't think fans will forgive them twice. Thinking that slapping a product together without any long term thought will get them to turn a consumer away. Short term sales are great, but you need return business. If everyone on the planet bought your burger for a buck, you'd be rich. But if noone came back all year, you'd go out of business.

And don't think I'm not willing to throw those comments DC's way. Sure, I'd expect Batman and/or Superman in each set, but they better be smart about it. The two they did were fine, Superman's being a bit of a reach, but still acceptable. A 60's TV show Batman and a Superboy figure from the 60's comic would totally stink. Elektra hasn't been acceptable since IC. She didn't deserve a CT R/E/V set, and sure as hell shouldn't of eaten up an unique slot with Xplosion.

Doing redos for the sake of redos will just annoy folks, and eventually get folks to go elsewhere with their gaming dollar.

I think the big question is this. Just because your favorite character didnt make it into the set, you're not going to buy any of it? Are you THAT bitter and immature that you cant make a consuming decision based on the quality of what you're given, instead basing it on a petty "yuu guys didnt gimme wat I wanted so ur not getting $$ from mee!". If you're going to not buy the set, fine. If you want your character to be made, fine. But keep your ideas basic. You act like this is the end of the world. Big deal. So 3 or 4 slots are taken up. Big deal. Would you rather have had it be those figures in a R/E/V version? Then you could complain that there are too many "good uniques" to get and that this is a marketing disaster as well. Point is, Wizkids doesnt have to cater to us with figures. They can claim they are in the design phase for the next 4 years if they wanted to. Just release a big figure and a map set now and then and people will still keep coming back. They now have plenty of other games to support themselves. I mean for gods sake, Shadowrun is almost 20 bucks a pop, and people are buying it like crazy. I am, regardless of what figures are release, going to credit Wizkids for the effort. If I dont like whats in the set, I wont buy it. Not going to whine and ##### like an immature 5 year old "but I want my punisher NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!". Just remember, the idea of heroclix is to have fun. You want a punisher, make him yourself. If your games of heroclix are totally ruined by not having a punisher on the table, play with deathstroke or someone similar, pretend theres a punisher fig on it, and keep quiet.

What continues to surprise and shock me is that they keep using THOSE as the display previews. Are they so sure that existing players will buy in that they feel the need to show us figs of the only three characters sure to bore most of us?

Surfer's okay. Not great. Could be better. But seriously ... after the outcry over Nightcrawler, repeated over Martian Manhunter ... people still bought the sets ... WK is going to keep doing this every single set, picking a character obscure enough to get away with making Unique but popular enough that people will tear each other apart to get him.

And of course one of the other unmentioned uniques will be Elektra. Assuming we don't get another R/E/V of her. The entire IndyClix set is Elektra. Elektra Elektra Elektra Elektra. Elektra? Elektra ...

Hulk and Spidey are okay, but I'm really getting sick of the Wolverines and Elektra's. Not that they are bad characters, but it seems that their clix are pretty much the same. B/C/F with Flurry or Stealth or whatever... I mean how many combinations of these powers can you do? Spidey has the same problem. At least all the Hulks are vastly different.

I think Surfer looks fine, don't be so picky. How many time have we seen previews that look like ####, but then the figure looks pretty good (cough, Psylocke, cough)

For the love of God, what would you have wanted in PLACE of Hulk with a gun!? You KNOW that they're putting a Hulk in just about every set. This Hulk has range, and will probably be like SOD Superman with RCE instead of CCE. That's pretty useful! And playable! The sculpt is dead on to the comics representation of him, and personally I'd rather have this hulk (Smart Hulk NEEDS to be represented) than some other re-hashing of existing Hulk figures. With this one we can have Outwit, Perplex, and RCE in addition to LC, SS and Invulnerability! So, kudos to WizKids for making a great looking figure that gives us clixers something to have fun with!

O.k., here is what i think about this new Set:

If all rumoured/confirmed come out it is good. For me it is like this, as i am a purist (i play and mostly even collect only figures with TA: If i draw a Surfer and he is a Defender or a Wildcard i keep him, if not i offer him in the trade forum.Further i want every X-Man, Syndicate-Member, Defender or Avenger. So keep an eye on my trading threads as Hulk and Spidey without TA will appear there if i will draw them.

I'm really glad to see the Surfer. As for the rest, yawn. Another Logan. Another typical Spider-Man. At least the Hulk they've done something a little different with, though the sculpt doesn't impress me that much. It's Wizkids' way of giving us a sneak peek without really giving away anything at all. At least we haven't seen an Elektra yet, so maybe there's hope. Now the first Cosmic Justice peek was great because they didn't do the obvious and give us SOD Superman and Vampire Batman. Sure we were all pretty sure we'd get a Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, but Bizarro, Batgirl, and Penguin were either rumors at best or real surprises.

Personally I'll wait to see what other NEW characters we'll see in Critical Mass before I get too excited. Though I'm sure I will be excited once they start slipping more info.

I like Spider-Man. I don't mind another Spider-Man. I don't know why people are upset about 4% of a set being repeats. Four percent. Heck, I'm about twenty times as upset as probably 10% of it being stupid generic figures. "Oh joy. Another medic." "Oh joy another stupid SHIELD Agent." "Wow, you mean I can have lame-o Evil-doer Guy in three flavors?!" "Oh hey! Here's my Unique Spider-Man! Yay! Spider-Man is da coolest!" And even Venom, and a possibility of a Venom AE? Even better. Those three are Unique, and thusly, much harder to pull than carptastic generic lamers, like Old Lady Walking Down the Sidewalk or some such. Face it, they contracted Hulk, Wolverine and Spider-Man for each set, and its only 4%. Deal with it.

I don't know about Venom but Surfer looks pretty sweet, someone said his board looks too big? I'm no surfer but surfboards are big, some are huge. I dont know, my only surf knowledge comes from the movie Back to the Beach, remember that ?!? The one with Frankie and Annette with Pee Wee Herman and Giligan'n the Skipper and a whole mess of people who aren't popular anymore. Venom would be real cool, I could excuse Spidey's new figure if it's an arch enemy that aint so bad. I'd run a list of guys I want but thats been done.

Good point TheYorimitsu. It is only a small percentage of the set and as they're likely uniques, I probably will never pull them anyway, given my luck, so I don't really think that it's that big a deal. The preview just isn't that exciting is all I'm saying. It's (almost) all figure we already knew were going to be in this set anyway.

I've long since resigned myself to the first 18 or so figures in a set being generics. I was disappointed at first, but like the "contractual obligation" figures, you just deal with it and play anyway. Hopefully they'll move in the direction of more interesting figures for the generics if they're going to make them anyway. One reason I'm glad to hear that the Brood will be included in this set.

It has already been confirmed that the Punisher will not come out until next year when the movie is released.

Not sure about Carnage, but it would be cool if he was an AE of both Spidey and Venom.

Hopefully the new Spidey will be REV and be allowed to be on his own team in all versions.

I'd just like to try and make a point. I know people will call me stupid for saying this but I feel it needs to be said.

The fact that certain characters make it into every set doesn't have so much to do with WK being required to make them, or greedy enough to keep popping out duplicates of the same characters.... it has more to do with WK being smart enough (even if some long time collectors can't see it) to recognize the fact that every set draws in new players. I guarantee you that little Billy Smith, age 13, or John Smith , age 30 is going to start collecting Heroclix with Critical Mass.
And if this set didn't feature a Spiderman, here's what they would be saying, "What, no Spiderman?! What kind of stupid game is this?"
This is whats known as a "jumping on point" for new collectors.
Every set will have big name, marquee characters so that the new collector or the passer-by will notice and go, "Hey, cool a Spidey, I love Spidey."
There are certain comic characters that have the luxury of being recognizable all over the world... Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Hulk. You don't even have to read comics to know who they are. I think I read somewhere that Superman is as recognizable as Mickey Mouse, or more-so.

Since I've been playing (and i've been playing since the game was released) I've started like 8 or 9 other people on the game. And when they start whats the first thing they say to me? "What set can I get a Spiderman/Superman/etc in? They're my favorite character." Followed by, "Wow, that Hulk looks sweet, what set can i get him from."

So cut WK some slack, they aren't doing "the same old characters" to piss you people off. They're doing it to bring in new people. And the more people who jump on and start playing Heroclix the better. That means more sets in the future. And more sets means you can get that obscure character you've been crying about that WK hasn't made yet.
"I want a Red Ghost and his Super Apes!", "I want a Krypto.", "I want a figure based on those two or three issues when the Carnage symbiont infected the Silver Surfer."

So to sum it up... More Wolvies/Hulks/Spideys/Supes/Bats = more new collectors = more sets = more of the figures that long time collectors want to see.

Hope that makes everyone feel a little better.

(I think these figs look sweet, I can't wait for CM, here's hoping for the Lizard, and Silver Surfer better have the Defenders ability :) )

Well spoken jedah_s. A vey valid point. I was inticed into Heroclix by the idea of getting a Spider-man figure and many hundreds of pounds later I still buy and play the game.

Give Wizkids some slack - Heroclix is cool!

What would be very cool is to have National or World Championships where the winner got to pick a figure to be relaeased in the next set AND they got the ONLY copy of a promo version of Ltd Edition version of that figure. HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?????

Not sure about the SHIELD affiliation, but I imagine he won't have BCF if it _is_ Patch, except maybe at the very end of his dial. Perhaps this and the Hulk w/ Guns are Marvel's way of getting CCE? I sure hope so! :) Then maybe Captain America and Spidey can have it! Hehe.

Ok, I'll give you that Jedah, but I think I still have a valid point that you don't need all 4 of the repeated characters every set. Spiderman, ok. That's their flagship character. But the least they could do is rotate the other 3.

Remember, when you make characters archenemies you may never field them in the same force. Spiderman and Venom would be great, but if you wanted to represent Venom and Carnage as AE they could never team up. also to see all of them on the field at once youd need at least three players wich is probably why there aren't any multiple AE's (to my knowledge) Also these characters represent massive spans in their experience and lives they could be enemies then allies etc. I think different REV levels should change AE status as well as team.

About this AE trinity of the Spider, the Alien and the alien offspring, I see it might end up like how Daredevil's been done, in IC he was an AE to Bullseye so maybe we have Brock AE to peter, and in XP DD was AE to Ninjas, so maybe in a future set we'll get ANOTHER Venom *big grin* who is an AE to Carnage. Or even better representing experience levels (although a tad costlier), different experience levels could have different AE dials.

Okay Litz so are you opposed to these remakes? Remakes in general? Or just remakes that you don't like? And seriously what is wrokng with people expressing there opinions about this set maybe sucking because a few characters that go with there counterparts ARE NOT in the set (Thanos). Oh yes, Im not going through 250 threads of I love this and I love that.

Obviously if there is a U Silver Surfer ONLY he should have AE Thanos, this is a no brainer. If there is a R/E/V we would see a Defenders version and it would probably be E but I don't think R/E/V Silver Surfer shows him well. He has the Power Cosmic, is a Demi-Cosmic Being (as are a few others: Thanos, Adam Warlock, In-Betweener and the other heralds.) and hasn't changed much over the years .
Now I thought the fig as shown looked a little weak but it looks more zoomed in on then the others and the SOD Superman looked like #### before I had him in my hand and saw the real deal so I reserve judgement.

INDY CLIX: Who has been hating on this set? Sure there are several makes of non and uniques, an abusive amount of BCF and a annoying over abundance of Stealth in the set but for the most part these characters will fill out any existing teams very nicely. People think about it... All the characters shown are multiple abilities for low cost. That is a good thing not bad. If you want awesome, uber-powerful, high cost characters, just get the uniques from Cosmic Justice.

Well enough of this rant but Im still pissed I see SS and no AE Thanos. Thats way more important to me then building the ####py Defenders. Oh yes and there is truely only one Defenders team (Surfer, Strange, Hulk and Namor). Its like when they change the FFl, it just makes it s h i t. If I wanted #### characters, in a #### comic, with #### abilities, I would read and like the X-men. ( )

Carnage should be AE of Venom only. The fact the Cletus is first and foremost a serial killer and just hunting any old Joe to try and kill them more along the lines of Venom's Lethal Protector Modo. Now a special one set only U Spidey could easily be AE of Venom but after that quite short span Venom and Spidey aren't enemies they just don't get a long. Mostly because Peter Parker is a wimp and Venom is a Badazz.

Carnage should have more tricks then Venom and be more energy based BCF, Flurry,LC, INC for alot. While Venom could be more beatstick based, Superstrength, Toughness and only maybe 2 clicks on INC. Also Venom would have an extra click of life over Carnage but Carnage would regenerate for 1 possiblt 2 clicks to represent his amazingly quick recovers afetr a battle neds where he has been defeated and when the allies look over he is gone, or ready to go at it again.

Well, I can't speak for Litz, but I can speak for myself. Its the amount of remakes that Marvel has been running, the "Big 4" Hulk/Wolvie/Spiderman/Elektra. See my post about action figure lines continuing to produce the same figures over and over, and you get to my point.

That's what Litz did, if you don't like it, that's fine. But man, rippin' into the guy and his mom is just plain stupid (not you Thanosied, some other guys have.) I got my opinion, you got yours, and really, as I also said earlier, speaking up and speaking out gives Wizkids an idea of what is going on. Xplosion sold like hotcakes. I hope this set can reproduce that result. BUT, with the signs of a CT repeat, which did not sell as well, at least at my store (and I stocked it well, trust me) I hope and pray that the rest of the uniques are decent/great, because if these 4 shown figures are the best uniques, it will hurt sales. Some, not all, players don't want to chase characters they already have, or buy a full case not have no sign of a Silver Surfer.

Just my thoughts.

THANK YOU! I was going to write pretty much the same thing. Thanos and Surfer don't like each other much but they have teamed up for the 'greater good'. They did it in Infinity Guantlet and keep doing it up until this latest Infinity Abyss. If Surfer were to have an AE, I'd think it would have to be Mephisto and I'd be surprised if they made him at all. I would hope He is a REV too so they can show his Team Affiliation(s) on at least one of his dials. He should have one that is Defenders, but then again Beast should have one that was Avengers and we got shafted on that.

Wizkids has said before there is *NO* obligation from Marvel/DC to produce characters in every set. They simply said they were the characters people wanted. If you are that offended by the dupe character DON'T BUY THEM. Stop crying about it. Trade them away, they *WILL* be wanted trust me. You will get a good deal for them especially when they first come out.

Not a hate reply, just a resonable rebuttal. Sure, the four heroes that you mentioned started the Defenders, but unlike the Fantastic Four, to use your example, the Defenders were never really centered around them. The FF has never gone for more than a dozen or so issues without at least a majority of the core members. The Defenders went for a hundred issues or more after the departure of the last of the founders as a regular member, with a good cast of heroes. Hellcat, Valkrie, Nighthawk, Damon Hellstrom, Gargoyle, Devil-Slayer, Moondragon, and on and on. Not headliners any of them, I'll grant you, but if anything, that makes the book's long run that much more impressive. Personally I'd love to see all of the characters listed above appear as Clix.

What I liked most about Heroclix from the beginning is that they could have very easily just made a bunch of A-List characters, but instead they allowed all of us old-time comics fan the chance to say "Hey, Whirlwind/Controller/Firelord! I remember him! He was pretty cool!"
