A 96 point Hulk?? Whew! Glad I didn't bother to send in for this one.
Hulk is weakest one there is!

He actually looks like a very playable figure...especially with the new rules. No Invulnerability hurts though.
Greenandgold
08/29/2003, 16:27
No invulnerability means he looks less playable than the R-E-V Hulk in my eyes.
Actaully if you run the cursor over his last three clicks of Toughness, the power description that comes up is Invulnerability. Will have to wait to pick up my figure and see for sure.

08/29/2003, 16:34
Yeah, you know I take back what I said earlier...he kinda sucks, huh? At least he gets SS and toughness on his second click anyway.

08/29/2003, 16:36
No way for 96 pts if those last three are inv he kicks ###.

08/29/2003, 16:41
I like him, his other versions never really fit on smaller teams for scenarios and such, but the 17 defense late in the dial with a 3 damage and a 12 attack would probally kill most of the other figs that would be hanging around late in a game with a couple clocks of damage.
And the 10 movement is nice too.
Gotta think Tiny with this one! :)
Thoughts:
Regardless of invul or toughness, he has a lot longer life which balances out against the rookie hulk, much more damage; higher movement.... battle fury which is not half as bad with the new rules, a good second click...
Looks like Blastaar to me almost =)
Inbetweener
08/29/2003, 16:43
Geez, I think that is invulnerability...that changes my opinion again:eek:
Either way this will be a fun kamikaze type character who I'll use quite a bit...96 points isn't bad for a pushable and mobile brick.

If you go look at WizKids site, the dial there shows that he has 2 clicks of INV near the end of his dial.
But it makes me ask: Since Cosmic Justice started to mix IMP and INV, shouldn't Hulk get at least one click of IMP somewhere? I don't know that much about the character, but I always get the impression he's tougher than INV...
On wizkid's site his 7th and 8th click are Invulnerability.
DS-00-0, FSD
08/29/2003, 16:48
I popped over to WK's site and they have him listed as having Invulerability on the 7th and 8th click.
BatmanForever
08/29/2003, 16:50
I was just on the Wiz Kids site, and the stats for him are up. He has 2 clicks of invulnerability. He has it when his defense is 16 and at the click after that that says 17 defense. On his 2nd click of a 17 defense, he has toughness. To make it easier, he has Invulnerability at the same time on his dial as his last 2 clicks of leap and climb. If that doesn't help, here is a link to the heroclix site.

Here's another question:
Why is the WizKid's site listing this Hulk as part of Infinity Challenge? And what do we call this Hulk? So far, there's Not-So-Scary Hulk, Mr. Fixit, Savage Hulk...So who's this? 'Junior, Come Home this INSTANT!' Hulk, I say.
Francesco_V
08/29/2003, 16:52
This is surely the most playable Hulk figure ever.
I like him just because he is a cheaper hulk. I was really hoping for some hypersonic speed or some charge though. The article promised the fastest hulk ever. Going up to 10 movement is cool but charge or HSS would have made him a good sendaway.
krusticlese
08/29/2003, 16:56
hulk could never move that fast....
He's a gold medal long jumper though!...:p
harles2000
08/29/2003, 17:07
well, if you watched the hulk movie, you could agrue for hss, but charge are the very least is due the hulk. i mean come on. if nothing else, hulk uses his L/C to land on someone or to tackle them - there you have charge. give the hulk a useful movement power if youre gonna make him battle fury.
Very cool. I'm glad I sent away for this one.
Honestly, the only problem I have is that I'd really have loved to see a click or two of Charge late in that dial. He'll be a fun figure to play, and at 96 points a very workable team player. This is just the sort of fig one can play well with the new rules. So what if he bases another character? So long as he does it on a side that restricts multiple characters attacking him you'll want the fig you base to take a good shot at him.

the hulk can leap 3 miles! that is a pretty good distance for a big guy. I did not get a magazine so I will have to trade for it

Names for consideration:
"Pull my finger" Hulk
"Squating" Hulk
"Doin' the Butt" Hulk
"Why doesn't he have Poison or Force Blast?" Hulk
"I hope he didn't eat a Burrito" Hulk
"Thank goodness he doesn't dress like Angelus" Hulk
Likely he'll end up being LE Hulk or Leaping Hulk

An awesome awesome playable hulk.

08/29/2003, 17:26
not bad.....i didint send out for him but if any are left i probably will
It's a fun, potentially useful piece with great improvements down it's long dial, and with an agreeable cost. Is it destined to become one of my all-time favorite, Must-Use pieces? Well, probably not, but then again I don't think any LE should fit that bill.
They surprised me with this one. I was expecting (though I hadn't realized it until I saw the dial) the most expensive Hulk to date, with an emphasis on Speed. Sort of the OWAW Superman equivalent (though most assuredly without any HSS) of the Hulk. I'd have been fine with that, too, but in terms of most gameplay that one would have soon become a novelty piece. I tend to think that, especially in 300-400 pt games, I'll be more likely to use this 96 pt fig.
"I hope he didn't eat a Burrito" Hulk
but, he doesn't have forceblast
"I hope he didn't eat a Burrito" Hulk
but, he doesn't have forceblast
DS-00-0, FSD
08/29/2003, 17:39
Or perhaps:
"He better pass that kidney stone soon" Hulk
"Where's my Bean-O" Hulk
"Better not put R/E/V Hulk behind me" Hulk
"Thank goodness I do not have a cape" Hulk (See HT Superman for this joke)
In all, I like this Hulk. He's cheap and has some great stats further down the dial. Plus he's going to be very playable with the new structure of the game. Being able to take a hit and then follow up next turn is going to make the NAAT a moot point for him.
Greenandgold
08/29/2003, 17:39
The fact that he has 2 clicks of Invulnerability definitely changes my assessment. I like him for 96 points. Very playable under the new rules.
And now I am cursing the fact that I couldn't find a copy of the PSM magazine. Heck I even did the 1 free issue offer, but I did it too late. :(
I like him. He's very cheep and very fast and has a very deep dial. If only I sent away for him:disappoin

It may not be too late:

Yeah, I'm fairly sure it's not too late, too. One can still send away for OWAW Superman and the Phasing Green Lantern, and I believe the same applies to that "Berzerker" Wolverine.

still rather use swampthing, but tha's just me...

I like Swampy fine, but these "beat me, please!" dials the Hulk has are fun! ;)
As for the Abomination and the Hulk, so much depends on who gets the first shot and whether or not there's a heavy object around to hit the other one with. An 86pt E Abomination could hit a 103 pt R Hulk with a heavy object while Hulk's on his first click, doing 7 clicks of Damage to his 8-click dial, and leaving a Hulk with an 11 AV, sure, but only a 2 Damage going up against an Abomination with a 16 Defense and the Invulnerability to nullify that 2 Damage. Sure, if one puts Emil up against an E Hulk that changes sharply, but an E Hulk runs 117 pts. I guess this is just my way of saying I like the Abomination.
Maybe if Heroclix lasts long enough someone will remember that when the Abomination first appeared he was much stronger than the Hulk - Banner had to trick him into a device that drained off some of the excess - and we'll get a 200+ pt Abomination...
I_Blame_You

What are the odds I could still get one if I sent off now?
I presume that if Wizkids is still offering the magazine with that LE connection, you should expect to be able to send in a coupon now and get the one or two you ordered. (I decided to order 2.)

Well, at least the sculpt is cool. I hope the paint is not caked on over all of the fine muscular details nor the face.
Take a moment to compare this new Hulk's stats to the rookie Hulk. You'll find that this one's far better and for 7 points less!
In the context of an earlier example on this thread:
If an Exp. Abomination hits the rookie Hulk (103 pts) with a heavy object, delivering 7 clicks of damage, you have a Hulk who's one click from death, unable to deal any damage to the Abomination, and with an unadorned Speed of 5 if he wants to try to get away.
In the same scenario with this new Hulk (96 pts) those 7 clicks of damage leave him on what's arguably the best click of his dial (an AV of 11, Defense of 17 with Invulnerability, Damage of 4 with Battle Fury, and a Speed of 10 with Leap/Climb)... and with two clicks of life remaining! If he hit Abomination then (which he'd have an excellent change of doing) he'd do 2 clicks of Damage (Abom. has Invulnerability) and would leave Abomination with and AV of 9, Defense of 16 with Toughness, and a Damage of 3. Even if he pushed himself on the next turn to strike back, he could only do one click of Damage (which would kick Hulk's AV up to 12, though he'd lose L/C and the Inv. would become Toughness, though still over a Defense of 17), and would reduce the Abomination by another click in the process.
Honestly, it's a useful piece and the best Hulk available for the points -- and then some!

RAAARGH! Why puny posters always take stab at Hulk? Hulk just wants to left alone, on shelf collecting dust with Manta-Guy, Ninja Spear-Girl, and Snake-Ropes Man anyway. Leaping Hulk is the cheapest one there is!!!! LE Hulk think that prehaps him have lots of Battle Fury 'cause it help prevent guys like Shiny-Head Wheelchair Man from getting into Hulk's head and make Hulk hurt Hulk's friends. And Hulk not have many friends! Before, people who get into Hulk's head always take click of damage for the effort, but that not true anymore.

I hear ya! The trick'll be deciding where to throw him and whether or not to push him first. I'm looking forward to giving him a try.
Though he'll be talked about for a bit, a figure that's under 100 points who can take 7 clicks and come out smiling is likely to be a surprise to anyone who's not familiar with his dial.

did they forget a 1 or a 2 infront of the 96?!? hulk for under 100pts must be a mistake!
i love him =)
I was suprised to see how cheap this Hulk is. I too was expecting a moster hulk over 200 pts. After inspection of the dial, however, I am very pleased with this Hulk. Personally I find him to be the most useful, most playable mail-away LE thus far. Cheap enough to play in a Tourney with stats good enough to warrent using him. Let's take a little look at the stats:
- 10 clix of life
- 7 clicks of 10 attack or higher
- 8 clicks of damage reduction, two of which are Inv.
- 6 clicks with 3 damage or higher, 2 clix of 4
- Decent Def. of 16 for one click, above average 17 for 2 clicks
- useful to the last click. 11 av, 3 damage
- 15 def. on last click isn't too difficult to heal
All-in-all I think he's an amazing bargain. He'll work very well now that Battle Fury isn't as much of a handicap as it used to be, infact, now BF is a decent ability if the figure is mobile enough.
So there you go. I can't wait to get mine.

I agree, until the new rules are used, that is. Unless you catch someone offgaurd with that TK Abomination combo(hahahahaha), you will have to park abomination for a turn to get his arse handed to him for a hat. On the other hand, for 4 less points you get someone who can take a licking on keep on ticking. Heck, this hulk can even make his own way into battle. And like most hulks, people usually try to avoid him whenever possible, which will be a little more difficult in the new environment.
I just want to know what they are putting him in the IC Set #199... Why are they going backwards ??? I thought this Hulk was going to be part of the newest release... How are we to keep track if they don't go in some kind of order !!!

As ever, to each his own. I already have that vet Abomination and can make use of him when I want to use an Abomination. However, there'll be times when I want to put a Hulk on my team, and this one's a nice addition to the selection. :classic:

I've never actually seem someone win a game using Hulk, but this new Hulk under the new rules may have a chance. Previously, the game moved quick enough that the opposing owner could just ignore Hulk totally and win. The new rules and slowdown definitely favor Hulk!!!

I have won a couple games using the Savage Hulk. Just weakend them with Sgt. Rock's EE and then started pounding for 6 clixs( perplexers.). But I will probably use this hulk in any team I make.
96 points and you get a walking Panzer tank. Probably the close combat fig for his points or lower.

you know, Superfreak, you could have paid for the USPS postage, I have had fewer problems with USPS. Also no one demanded that you get two of them. And hey, if you didn't like Infinity challenge, I'll take all your infinity challenge figs off your hands, free of charge.
You should've done what I did. Get a friend to go in half with you on it. I only paid half the cost of the magazine and one fig and he got the other fig.
No one demands you use the Hulk, but there's always a possibility. Remember, people have crazy house rules where powerful figs and medics are banned so Hulk could be useful there.

Since this was suppose to be the "fastest hulk" it would have been cool if they gave him flurry on his two 4 movement clix.
Can you imagine hulk hitting two different characters for 4 clix in one turn? Well I can. It would make the hulk so uber in the new rules that it would be scary.

While it's true no one demanded I buy the LE Hulk, let alone two of them,I always get 2 of the LE mail-aways so I get one and have an extra to trade to others who missed the opportunity to get one.
I don't know where you get that I don't like Infinity Challenge. It was a base set,and a very good one,but as a base set it generally lacks the power and efficiency that oft comes in expansions.Since IC hasn't been out since the beginning of last year,I don't see the reason to make another mail away based on it.Make it a mail-away for Xplosion, with stats more powerful and efficient.
This Hulk would be powerful in "Crazy Rules"tourneys, but I don't think it's necessary to have a LE that is only usable in "Wacky"games.Call me old fashioned, but if I'm gonna take my hard earned money and put it into a "Special figure", It really ought to be special.
And no,you won't take my figures free of charge, thats just stupid.Kinda like this LE.:disappoin

I was looking at the new PAC, but I didn't see any changes to Battle Fury? What has changed about it?
it's the same as before but now since taxi's are realitively a thing of the past BF isn't as limiting. Since Hulk get's LC and high movement he's more than ready to motor himself all over the board. BF protects him from MC so you don't have to worry about your 96 pt. Hulk doing damage to you and the MCer taking no damage for a fig under 100 pts.
So, in my opinion BF has received a huge boost due to the new rules. It's still, by far, not a great ability due to it's limits, but it's not nearly as hindering in play either.

Has any one gotten theirs in October? Any signs of the 2nd wave coming out?
So far nothing here. (Order sent in early July, check cashed August 1st.)
Technically, if they've taken your payment they have to send your product within 30 days. That's the FTC's rules. So if your check was cashed way back on August 1st and you haven't gotten anything you really should try to contact them and see what's up.
As for me, they sent my form back to me saying they don't accept Discover card. I then lost the form and just recently found it and sent it back in.
So I don't expect to see my Hulk fig for at least another 7 months.

A friend of mine contacted Wizkids to find out what happened to his Hulks...he says he was told there was a problem with making them and they're not expecting to get the next batch until November, so we probably won't get them until at least December.
>Technically speaking, which level is this Hulk? Is he a LE6?
Technically speaking, I don't think he comes with an LE box, so there's really no way to tell :-)

So, since we have to wait so dang long........ any chance of receiving something extra for our inconvenience? im not expecting anything, but a little note saying sorry for the delay would be at Least nice.

Yes, I would like something extra. At the Marvel Wizkids site they posted something saying the figures will be delayed, that they messed up.

A quick, recent history of mail away LEs:
The Witchblades (which were handled and shipped through Krause Publications, publisher of Scrye) were the first such HeroClix figure handled by that company. Other than some initial confusion over the way the shipping charges were worded on the order form, they pretty much hit a home run in customer satisfaction, sending figures out within 2 or 3 weeks of them being mailed in. They were also the last mail-away- LE offer to date to be published.
Arwens were published some weeks before, and appeared last in Inquest, and before then in an issue of Wizard. No reports of Arwens arriving have been received yet, though some have reported their checks have been cashed.
The month before them was Boon, appearing in the previous issue of Inquest. Boons have begun arriving, and at this point, I'd estimate most orders have been filled. Estimated turnaround on this offer was approximately 10-12 weeks.
Backing up even further, to June 15, we find the PSM Hulk offer just hitting shelves. The offer stated (and WK recently reiterated in an email to me) to allow 8-16 weeks for delivery. That was approximately 17 weeks and 5 days from today, Oct 17.
Wizkids says they aren't expecting another shipment of Hulks from their manufacturer (China?) until Thanksgiving or later. This means most of us will have a unique Silver Surfer before we get a PSM Hulk. Chalk up another mark of endearment to WK for always putting customer satisfaction on the top of their tree. We luv ya, WK! See ya Xmas, Hulk!

Have received my 2 Arwyn's about a week and a half ago. She has RCE all the way down the dial, and the Crossgen symbol, for the dog I think. She also has a range of 6 ( I think) and two lightning bolts. Her stats were a little off of the veteran, but fairly close.

Got mine today - very dark paint job.
Hey! Another thread I forgot about!
As reported in a couple of the others I was part of, my two arrived on Saturday the 6th. Four months and 5 days after they cashed my check. Not a record I'd be proud of.
If this had been some sort of give-away item - something we'd just sent a token amount in on - it might have been more forgivable, but we paid well for the figures and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wouldn't have picked up a copy of PSM were it not for the ad. My interest in the magazine was next to nil, so between the $8 for that and the cost of the Hulks, I paid a premium price for something I then had to wait over 5 months (from the point where I sent in my order) to receive.
It's done with now, and I'm glad I have the piece, but I'll definitely think twice before I start down this path again.
Looks like the second wave went out.
But since I still haven't seen a charge on my credit card, I'm wondering if I will ever get it.
Especially since the card I gave them 6 months ago is now expired.

When I ordered the GL mail-away my card expired by the time they tried to process.........but (this surprised me) they sent me a letter telling me the card number didn't work and I could send them a new number and they would process as soon as they got it. It also said if i returned it in 2 weeks they would guarantee me a figure (or 2 as that's what I ordered). 3 weeks later I got my figs.
As for the PS2 Hulk, I got my 2 a week ago.
