Stoked about the figs and Angel and Kraven, but ...

BUMMED that WizKids has again ignored the input of Envoys, and are limiting the Marquee to a single weekend (like Indy and all Marquees before CJ) instead of a Sunday - to - Sunday (like CJ Marquee was). I still haven't heard a good reason for this policy. "We want to focus attention and make it big" doesn't work for me. I personally played more and got more excited over the chance to play in three Marquees for CJ than any previous (HeroClix or Mage Knight), where I only got to play in one (I always run one as well). It also sounds like they're telling us that the number of Marquee events will be limited, which also sucks rocks.

So, does anyone know if this releases 12/3 or 12/10? Another thing, having the Marquee so close to the release also sucks rocks, because it almost ensures that product shortages will impact the Marquee. I mean, how many venues do you know that still had enough product (from the first wave) to run a sealed booster tournament 5-10 days after release?

Angel could be real good if he is done right.

Rookie would be Vulture Veteran, but with better stats.
Experienced would be Hawkman LE with Leadersihp instead of CCE.
Veteran would be Hawkman again but, with Support and CCE.

Unique would be similar to Deathbird but, better stats.

I think that would be a good representation of Angel.
Team abilities would be X-Men, Defenders, X-Men, X-Men.

Thinking that they WON'T come out with a Unique (they seem to have stopped the Uniques as variants of featured figures in the set), R could be X-Men, an improved Vulture. E could be Brotherhood, with the ranged attack and BCF, with Running Shot and superior speed. V could be back to X-Men, with whatever this "Secondary Mutation" bit that keeps coming up is.

In my opinion, that would beat the "slight improvement in stats" method.

Oh, and Venom? He's hitting the roof for an instant during his pursuit of Spider-Man. That's it. It's a classic Venom pose. Quit looking for something wrong with it.

Archangel's second mutation is an increased healing factor. It turns out that his blood has extra healing properties, and, because of this, he can heal people by bleeding on them.

Angels second mutation is that his blood has healing properties. Somehow, he has developed a small "healing factor" that can be transfered to others as well as healing himself. He recently cured a small child with a cancer ( I think it was a cancer, or some other rare disease.). He has also let a doctor take some of his blood to study, and it wasn't that silly nurse that is now at the school.

Kraven! Venom! Surfer! Angel! Hulk!

Well you just KNOW Elektra is in this set somewhere.

The other secondary mutations running around in the X-books right now are:

Emma Frost gaining Diamond Skin (which is why her V in CT had Inv)

Beast becoming more cat like with even greater speed and agility. (This was triggered by Sage in X-treme X-men as her mutant power other than being a living computer is to realize the potential of any latest mutant powers that haven't manifested.

Iceman has become solid ice now permanantly.

So far there's nothing to make me regret having ordered a case back in August.

What makes it a little more confusing is that, presumably, this is a newer ad - the poster that mentioned the rule books was also back when this set was scheduled for a November release. It was probably just an omission in this one, focused as they were on other details.

I am also in the minority about Angel - I could care less...Venom - now that has me excited! I am also looking forward to Kraven. This is the most anticipated expansion (to me anyway) yet!

My guess for Angel will be R as a cheap flyer with X-men TA, E as a charging flyer with Defenders TA, and V a charging medic with X-men TA. Charging taxi will be so freaking useful its insane. Leadership or CCE doesn't sound to likely to me, leadership could only go with the vet really and it'd just interfere with the far more useful support.

I doubt very much that they'll make a Mephisto, there are so many other villains that could be used that I personally feel are better.

Gladiator is a freakin wuss, there's no way he'll be stronger than surfer. All sorts of power, but no brains to back it up.

About the ANGEL:

since when he left the X-men he was a Defender, then a Champion (wasn't that his team, even?) and he also bummed around with other west coasters at that time, why not give his Exp. version the Spidey team ability? I think it would be appropriate....

Someone said something about an Apocalypse yteam ability? I don't have an Apocalypse; am I missing something? did they slip that in there? I kinda doubt it, but I wish they would do stuff like that... just throw in new teams and such... Still I doubt it.

On the subject of the captain:

I am a big fan of the original Captain Marvel. I know his clone is all the rage nowaday, but I'm still a Fan of Mar-Vel (don't get me wrong..Genis is cool...) I just hope we get a Classic Mar-Vel Unique. Since they are (not yet confirmed) doing a Captain Marvel, I sure hope like heck they give us Kree fillers.

Apocalypse team ability was a joke. One character with the ability fits the usual thing (ask any Defenders fan clamoring for Angel, Namor, Valkyrie, Silver Surfer, etc)

Of course, with an Apocalypse team ability they could justify doing a Wolverine in the next set as Death (c'mon, you all want it)

Why can't they just make an REV Spider-Man against an REV ORIGANAL Green Goblin. They made Hobgoblin and Ultimate Green Goblin be arch enemies but not the origanal. And if Green Goblin is in the set and Spider-Man and Venom are arch enemys I will scream and kill someone and die!!! Plus Venom eventually turned good and even teamed up with Spider-Man sometimes. Plus they should have Spider-Man be A LOT better than what he is now, and have Green Goblin be his equal (or better). Spider-Man and Green Goblin are a lot stronger than people give them credit for.

When Silver Surfer renounced his heraldry(?), Galactus stripped him of the power cosmic.

My guess is SS rook = weakened Earthbound
SS exp = slightly stronger Defenders
SS vet = cosmic surfer

Angel as Defenders would give 2 new Defenders. That leaves Gargoyle, Valkyrie, Sub-Mariner and Nighthawk. And Red Guardian. And I can't believe they didn't give Moondragon Defenders!!

No, he put a barrier around the Earth that his board couldn't pass through. When he tried it as a passenger on the FF's spaceship (after dissolving or "internalizing" his board), he passed through fine.

Venom - step one :- carefully remove webbing. Step two :- remove figure from chimney pot / remove chimney pot from base. Step three :- re-glue figure to base. Lo and behold a useable figure !!!

Spider Man - As above, but no weabing. So, using either part of a disgarded flight stand, or a GW clear plastic "prod", fix Spidey so he's doing an (airbourne) star jump. There - fixed.

Silver Surfer - hooray hooray hooray (oh, you get the idea...)

Heavy Weapon Hulk - weeell, it's different. I like it.

Patch - not a bad sculpt, but what's the "wrinkle" with the fig ? Hopefully it gets the Sheild team power...

ANGEL !!! - oh yes, finaly. Please let's have one in XMen Blue and Gold (with Hood) and one in Red and White. I could live without Archangel, which should only be done as a Unique, if at all.

Kraven the Hunter :- well, I think this will be BCF with Stealth and a Super Senses save roll, and come in at just under 50pts. Just like all his buddies in Indyclix !!!

Spider Man - As above, but no webbing. So, using either part of a disgarded flight stand, or a GW clear plastic "prod", fix Spidey so he's doing an (airbourne) star jump. There - fixed.

Silver Surfer - hooray hooray hooray (oh, you get the idea...)

Heavy Weapon Hulk - weeell, it's different. I like it.

Patch - not a bad sculpt, but what's the "wrinkle" with the fig ? Hopefully it gets the Sheild team power...

ANGEL !!! - oh yes, finaly. Please let's have one in XMen Blue and Gold (with Hood) and one in Red and White. I could live without Archangel, which should only be done as a Unique, if at all.

Kraven the Hunter :- well, I think this will be BCF with Stealth and a Super Senses save roll, and come in at just under 50pts. Just like all his buddies in Indyclix !!!

I'm still waiting for the rest of the Masters of Evil...at least some of the earlier ones (Black Knight, Radioactive Man, Melter, Executioner? Baron Zemo is a must!). I'm juiced about Venom and Rhino...'bout time! Now we just need Carnage and Mysterio and Lizard and Electro...and the original Green Goblin!

We REALLY need a Giant-Man/Goliath to complete the Avengers...I mean c'mon...he's an original!

Silver Surfer I could take or leave, but he's a Marvel icon, so he's gotta be made eventually. Intelligent Hulk I'll be trading for another Unique. Kraven I could also do without.

Of course if they don't come out I'll just do conversions eventually (like I did for my Scarecrow and Captain Cold to complete my Legion of Doom...no idea how I'm going to do Giganta though; especially if they never come out with Giant-Man for Marvel! :P).

I have to go against the grain here and say I'm more excited about the chance for an Archangel U than for a Angel REV. Archangel is probably my favorite X-Man of all time, I was highly dissapointed when he lost the metal wings and had that second mutation. I'm glad that an Angel is in the works, but an Archangel U would be a crowning jewel in an already good (so far)set.

I'm not sure if you were kidding tyroc, but the Hank McCoy and Bobby Drake are not suped up versions of their characters. Hank's attack increases by 1 over his rookie version on his starting click, but his defense decreases after that in comparision. I think Bobby's LE follows the same kind of trend. Basically, they are supposed to be the versions of the character when they joined the X-Men. If Wizkids holds true to form, the LE Angel will also be the version when he originally joined the team.

regarding the vulture, i know he sucks as a playable figure and i never use him. all i am trying to say to wizkids is that if you are going to make a clix then make it right, dont give us this young man vulture version garbage. i am complaining about the sculpt, not the dial itself.

and i hvae mod'd one of my vulture sculpts by replacing his head with that of a henchmens....PRESTO-CHANGO....the vulture the way he should look.

and lastly, this type of complaint doesnt just go for the vulture....wizkids pulled this same type of garbage with the release of the GREEN GOBLIN.....what type of junk is that?!? their ULTIMATE version sucks......we want the original crazy ol' normie

I don't know, I can't judge them as i've never read em'. I say cover the "normal" traditional or most widely known versions before the alternate, new ones. The figure people have said coulc be the Rhino isn't! In fact I don't know who it is. Looks kinda metallic with an elongated leg and arm which ends in a club/hammer. Any suggestions?

The others, starting in the top left look like Dormammu with possibly Eric the Red underneath him and wothout doubt Mar-Vell to the right.

Both Domammu (?) and Mar-vell look like they are on U bases. Eric, Spidey and the mystery man are on REV.

Litz and mysterio_lives know what what I'm talking about. If WizKids is going to make Ultimate characters, I wish they would just make a seperate expansion for them so I can save my money. I don't want to sound like a naysayer but Ultimate Rhino appeared in only one comic (as far as I know). Even if it was a few comics I highly doubt that they will make him before regular Rhino. I was also under the impression that the reason U Green Goblin was made before the regular one is because of likeness rights dealing with the Spider-Man movie. If that's not true then at the very least Ultimate GG has appeared in like ten comics. I read the Ultimate titles and I enjoy them but I am an old school regular Marvel U fan at heart. I was disappointed to see Ultimate GG before regular GG but the idea of them making Ultimate Rhino at all just seems ridiculous to me.

Just to let all of you who wish to bash Wizkids about putting out Ultimate line figures (which I despise just as much as the rest of you), that it is not wizkids fault. When they send there list of figures out to Marvel, Marvel tells them if they accept certain figures or not, and they came back with the Goblin giving the green light as long as it was an ultimate line version. I'm sure the same is true for Rhino. I'm sure wizkids dislikes doing it too, but they are subject to the wishes of Marvel when it comes down to what version they can make of the figures.

Like the idea of having the Hulk with guns. He should still have a damage of 5 though, because at this time, he was everything good about Banner, Mr. Fixit and the Hulk. 5 damage at some point, possibly some Outwit/Perplex and some RCE for the guns. The sculpt looks good, but where are the bunny slippers!?!? This was his trademark during the "Professor" days, can't say I know why, but he seemed to like them?

Has anyone heard any rumours about a Howard the Duck click. I was thinking it might be a possibility since Marvel found some connection between he and the Silver Surfer for the upcoming series of Marvel Legends, so why not here as well?

I'm curious as to what will be new about this Spidey. The sculpt is great, but how different can he really be? And on the note of Spider-Man, would it not make more sense to make a completely different colour of base for various AE figures. I've heard/read many debates over whether the new Spidey is AE with Hobgoblin, or whether Bullseye is AE with the new DD and/or the Hand Ninjas. Why not clear up the confusion, make the nest Spidey with an AE base white, or the next DD sky blue or something.

I'm hoping to see Deadpool and Cable in this set. And since there is a new Cable/Deadpool comic soon to be on the racks, which pleases me to no end, I assume whatever trouble Marvel was having with the rights to the names has passed. Can I clix be far behind, I sure as heck hope not. (if anyone would like to fill me in on the name issues, or what has happened to end them, that'd be great)

Yes, Ultimate Rhino had those weird silver bump things on him if i remember correctly. He may have also has spikes on his fist (ie the mysterious spiked club hand). I remember Rhino looked really weird as did alot of ultimates. Remember, Ultimate series were the teams/characters' origins completely rewritten. (see: female Nightcrawler). Look at GG almost no one knew it was him!

Saw a large Critical Mass poster at my local store the other day and was able to make out some of the figs on the side of the box. Diablo is definaely the fig on the bottom left. Captain Mar-vell(not Genis) on the bottom right. Spidey below them. Top right is Rhino(in sucky new costume). Couldn't make out the fig on the top left (looked like that Spidey villian Carrion, anyone remember him?).

When are the gonna introduce new teams? I mean you can have a New Fantastic Four, Nightstalkers, New Warriors, Xforce, X factor, X caliber,Sinister Six, Acolytes

They are leaving off so many, and I wish theyd do the multi teams like they do in Mage Knight. Beast was a defender, an X man , and an Avenger all at the same time

Sinister Syndicate includes Sinister Six within it, and why would there be a new FF? Simply make them all FF team. Same for X-Factor, make them X-Men - most were anyhow. Same argument could be made for New Mutants/X-Force/X-Calibre - simply leave them as X-Men team. Same goes for Acolytes - simply make them Brotherhood, which for all intents and purposes they were (sort of like Brotherhood 2.0)

New Warriors? Some were Avengers, others would be *useless* figs - do you really want a Speedball? And there are so many figs that need to be done before a team like Nightstalkers is even considered.

I really can't think of many teams really needed to be added. Thunderbolts would be cool. Maybe Champions, but there weren't many of them and most were on so many other teams it's almost not worth the extra fig Guardians of the Galaxy perhaps, but a new team for less than 10 figs...?

Let's finish the teams we *have* before jumping the gun on new ones...

While Speedball would be a cool looking sculpt, the figure would be useless! In game terms his powers would have little to no effect and I can think of easily over a hundred figs that need to be done before he should even be considered!

I simply don't know what it is about Speedball that has made him so popular - he's irritating and obnoxious, his powers are ridiculous, and he's never been more than a 2nd-tier hero...

I just noticed somthing , if you look especially close to the dials , you might notice that both Spidey , and Venom have the Classic , IC , Arch-Nemises Base . These are of course prototypes , so there bases don't have any markings on them , however , might this be an indication that Spidey and Venom will be Nemisis ? I hope not .....
