He’s a powerhouse, but on a human scale. Despite his immense size he always manages to show up right behind people without them noticing. Once he’s there he unleashes with his super-serum-powered strength which he can use to either heft objects using Super Strength or clobbering opponents with Close Combat Expert. One big plus, once he loses those abilities, his damage value increases, so that he can still deal the same damage for a while longer. The Major also has a heft dose of Toughness in each of his versions, so he can take some damage without folding. Finally, at the end of his dial he has a click or two of Regeneration to get him back into fighting form. His Rookie and Experienced versions don’t have a ranged attack, but his Veteran version has a range of 8 and Energy Explosion – remember when he grabbed that huge machine gun? I do.</TD><TD><IMG SRC="/images/indy/in052.gif"></TD></TR></TABLE>
Where's the B/C/F? Now I'm disappointed. :p

Looks cool from the neck down! What is up with his face?
Also, is it me, or does this dude sound like an Indy version of Bane?

09/24/2003, 14:47
That is without a doubt the worst proportioned figure I have seen.

Thank GOD someone made that joke. Seriously. I'd miss it if no one said it. It's become an old friend on these preview threads, the B/C/F-No B/C/F jabs. Like a sore tooth that you can't stop tonguing, these quips.
And to the person that said the proportions are off, let me suggest to you that J. Scott Campbell ain't no master of anatomy to begin with...so when you take something that's wrong to begin with and then shrink and compress it into a 1/48 scale figure, well, it's bound to look a little wonky.

He looks cool.
Even if he reminds me of Marvin the Martian with that face.

What a funky looking guy! I have no idea who 95% of these characters are in the new expansion, but I'm still excited for Indy just for the fact that the figures are so neat looking and, hey, they're someone new to play with! :classic:
That's Illduium Q36 Explosive Space Modulator thank you

Very cool figure, Bane done as Aquaman with a dash of Wolverine at the end. In the Support poor IndyClix environment, he will be a great figure to use. I just wish we could have some generic neo-naz..er..I mean Hammer Troopers to go with him. Great sculpt BTW.
AlaskanXIII
09/24/2003, 15:05
Yeah, his proportions are pretty much exactly like that in the comic. It's intentional, people! We're past the days of Thor-like sculpts and rogueish paint-jobs! *fingers crossed*
Wait, comics DON'T always have exact proportions?!? NO WAY!!!
Seriously though, He actually looks pretty good, like the comic. My ONLY gripe, "stealth"? common! Look at him! Whos gonna miss this guy, A giant neo-nazi in a trenchcoat, with a big tank of glowing blue liquid on his back! He put to much into the whole appearing behind people aspect. Charge hello? Force Blast, something besides stealth. Other than that he's cheap and cool looking. Better than Sydney who got screwed. I still think they should have made the Hammer Empire TA.
Evil Kneebler
09/24/2003, 15:07
LOL, the more I look at him and think of Marvin's voice, the more I laugh. Can't wait to play him now.
My gaming tactic of choice: Distraction!
AlaskanXIII
09/24/2003, 15:08
...course, that doesn't mean they've gotten any more creative with the poses themselves. A Stikfa in a trenchcoat? Try Ultron!
And when they DO get creative, we get "Swan Lake" Spidey and Venom...

the detail on his arm band and back pack are sweet

09/24/2003, 15:09
The drugs Maxim uses are supposed to be part of the Nazi's err, the Hammer's obsession with experimentation with physical and magical whatnot to increase their chances of taking over the world. Maxim's a great character and his piece looks great too (sculpt and stat-wise).

The CCE and SS on his first two clicks on veteran are kind of redundant, as they do the same damage. Seems fairly push friendly, on the 3rd click, he becomes a very good ranged attacker.
All that for 50 pts, this guy is a stud. Even the R/E versions are undercosted for what you get.

I still think they should have made the Hammer Empire TA.I think the worst decision behind IndyClix was making the "teams" based on publisher rather than in-comic organization.
space_cowboy
09/24/2003, 15:42
I don't know. How many teams would there be otherwise?
I have the E-Major Maxim. 35 points for super strength, 10 attack and CCE (on top of 1 damage). The rookie gives you SS for 28 points - cheapest ever! He and Judge Hershey are probably my favorite sculpts of the Indy line.

Apparently, you haven't been to a "Gentleman's Club" lately. Where do you think Campbell and Turner and the rest of them get their inspiration from? Turner draws fake breasts like nobody's business. And Aspen? That's totally a stripper name. Danger Girl? That's Campbell's three favorite strippers. Look at the names. Look at how they dress.
The ONLY good thing about Stripperella is the fact that it's honest about its source material. Think about it. Have you seen those Image guys? Nebbishes, the lot of them. Paste-eaters. Video game-playing morons. Why not hang out with strippers? They can afford it. And in the VR world of the strip club, these guys are all really funny and clever and important...as long as the $20s are forthcoming.
Man, I'm glad I'm getting married in a month.

Spider Senses are not thesame thing as CCE.

Not Super Senes, Super Strength. He seems to give CCE to Maxim based solely on the fact that his serum makes him a lot stronger. So my question is, how does Super Strength = Close Combat Expert?

09/24/2003, 17:05
I think they're really experimenting with power combinations in this set to minimize cost.
Look at all the figs we've seen. The descriptions say that characters are so so powerful, then the point cost is like, 12 > 16 > 20
Maxim goes from 1 dmg w/ CCE to a raw 3 dmg. Doing weird stuff like this probably helps to beef up the figs without making them all over-priced. It'll also help to sell Indy clix. A loser character that plays really well is still a good fig for a power gamer's team.
While i agree it's nice to have more playable figures, i'd like to see figures represented more truely.

I would have like the HUGE machine gun like the action figure. Course I would also of liked Deuce, Valerie, JC, Agent Zero, Johnny, some generic Hammer guys (medic? hello?) and a Sydney that didn't suck. I suppose thats what expansions are for, fixing the inevitable screw ups/room space constraint issues of the main set. He looks awesome though.

Hey Mark don't you use the old five dollar bill with a fishing line attached? Oh becareful the strippers I know throw those ice cold quarters back at yeah.
:knockedou :)
Super strength while carying an object equals CCE for the most part, for the one that was wondering, like the fig, can't wait to see what else is in the set

LOL! I was wondering who would catch it! :)
If Big Al's was the venue, I guess I couldn't run any juniors tournaments. Hmmm... is a thong on the map considered hindering or blocking terrain?

Hey that'd be cool no kids, and beer. Easy tourney winnings.

Probably because Maxim actually gets his super-strength from an external source, and you can Outwit it to reduce his damage.
The combination of SS and CCE is kinda redundant, but it has its uses. Maxim bases you with an object. Now you have a choice – outwit Super-Strength, in which case he hits you with CCE. Outwit CCE, in which case he’ll still hit you with the object. Outwit Toughness and hit him, in which case he’ll probably still do 3 damage unless you hit him hard.
For a character who can basically be summed up as “Mini-Bane” he’s not that bad. Probably one of the best in the set.

If nothing else Mark you're always entertaining to listen to.
Strippers and heroclix. What really speaks volumes is that it would sell huge. If they avoided the obvious controversy.
Ladies and gentleman I do believe that this is our last indyclix preview. This time next week Indyclix will be here. Love it or hate it, you have to admit it's upcoming has turned more controversty then any other set.

I don't think it is that redundant. Super Strength gives the fig more options: making range attacks by throwing light or heavy objects to inflict 2 or 3 damage without having to be base to base.

Actually, I've never met Campbell but I hung out with Turner a bit at Wizard World Philly, and he cleans up pretty nice. Also, his girlfriend (fiance' I think) was H-O-T HOT. She was pretty much on the same league as anyone he's drawn.

Man, I'm glad I'm getting married in a month.
Does your wife know she's marrying such a huge superiority complex in a month??
Can't speak for Campbell but Turner is an accomplished martial artist (I think reds in two discplines as of 98) and does stuff like barefoot water skiing...
He ain't the stereotypical comic geek...
I'm mainly giving him props for fighting off bone cancer that had him lose some serious bone mass...not a big fan of his work, but since you're mainly making a personal attack on someone you've ASSUMED to be so far below you socially...due to some beliefs on what artists that draw in his style would be like.
That and I took umbrage at the video game playing morons comment...
Hey if you find no enjoyment in playing video games, fine...don't be denigrating others for their hobbies...comic fan...just to let you know where I'm ocming on this one.

Were any of his comments based on an interview or anything based in fact or just assumptions. Cause the DG's are ONE thing "CAMP" they're campy Charlie's Angel throwbacks. Their names aren't "stripper names" they are puns. Abby "Chase's" after relics and villains, Sydney is Australian (makes sense now) Savage part refers to her wilder more flirtatious manner. Natalia Kassel is a real first and last name, whats strippery about J.C.? Silicon Valerie is a pun based on both the Silicon Valley, and Silicon in computer chip boards.(She's a hacker par excellence.) Maybe they ARE based on real strippers I don't know I'd like to think more of J.S.C. and though blatant T&A it was entertaining and well done.
Stripperella has no point other than to claim to give what me want and pander to the beer swilling man show watching Maxim reading crowd. As is the case with the whole Spike network giving MTV the run for the "most pretentious network in the world" honor.
I play allot of video games, as for the most part I can't stand TV anymore, what with the sitcom almost going the way of the dinosaur. Time was back in aught' 6, we had these things called "shows" that told stories. Now people compete for brides and eat piles of crazy carp for prizes. Makes me sick just thinkin about it!
Anyone better be careful throwing around words like "dork" or "nerd" here, as they might shatter their glass house with those stones.
