This the event that caught my eye:

All day 10:00 am-5:00 pm:
Marvel HeroClix: Critical Mass Pre-release
78-player limit. This is it! The first place you can play with the new figures from Critical Mass. And this is a set shoots for the sky with figures like the Silver Surfer and "smart" Hulk. HeroClix Battle Royale Whether you're a new player or longtime pro, everyone's equal and it's all about the fun battles with your favorite comic characters.

Here's a link to the gaming listings:

I'm seriously reconsidering that whole Envoy volunteering thing! (j/k).

That sounds like fun. But notice the 78 player limit. And the Indy Worlds is limited to 96 players. And I don't think there's any way to pre-register for these events. So, one could fly thousands of miles there but miss out. That's poor compared to professional games conventions like Origins and Gencon. Tsk.

you're RIGHT! It's not as big a risk for me, since I live here in Arlington, but I can't imagine flying to England without a pre-registered seat at the table. Heck, I can't even get to GenCon or Origins any more.

That's my assumption. It kind of follows the pattern WK has established at previous big shows just prior to a major release.
