Anyone else read this comic from the writer/artist of Gold Digger?

I just picked up Second Inheritance, and it's incredible. Great concept, and some of the best full-color art I've seen. It's probably the best work Fred has ever done, it's his personal project and the effort he's put into it shows. The first (which was first released as 4 issues, then re-released in a larger form like this one is. Think sorta like JLA/Avengers in format but thicker) was pretty good, but this one was a noticable step above even that.

The story's about the fight against a being called the Wrath Shadow, a corrupting powerful force. It was defeated long ago by a group of heroes but escape. The mage, using his abilities to see there would never again be a group as powerful as they, thought all had been for naught, when the priest came up with a plan. The 10 would sacrifice their lives to send their spirits forward and gift future heroes with their powers and allow them to fight the wrath, the legacy. First Inheritance is about the first group of 4 Legacies who encountered and fought against it in the current generation. Yea, yea, it sound pretty typical in concept, but it's thematically quite different than standard 'get powers-kick ###' fair, and it's done in a quite dramatic fashion and designed for a closed story format (so it has a beginning, middle, and end, it's not 'heroes get powers, thwart legendary evil, kick ### in an continuing comic. It's a high-production value miniseries. Think Kingdom Come in terms of dramatic scope. Yes, I think it's that good so far. I don't know if in the end I'll be able to say the same, but it's gripped me and drawn me in, especially with the introduction of the Second group of legacies), I don't know any comic that does it quite the same.

If you haven't read the first one, buy them both and read them in order. If you have, why aren't you already reading it?

Yea, it just came out I think two weeks ago. It's about the same size as the whole opening story (Fred decided to collect them all and release them when done to avoid working two full-color comic series on a regular scedule at the same time, in addition to some side-comics. Which is good, as opposed to him having a nervous breakdown).

It's so... epic.
