Here's some recent news regarding the third (excluding the tim burton version) installment of batman.

Johnny Depp is almost sure (but not yet final) to play the riddler and that's another good actor..guess they are trying to continue what heath ledger did for the 2nd movie but the bad news is Chris Nolan seems a bit less interested in making the third film...if there are no good stories on the table he's not keen on doing a third batman film.

To be honest, I don't want another Batman film. Dark Knight is a perfect bookend to the film franchise. Unfortunately, it was so good that it raked in so much money that whether Nolan wants to or not, a third Batman film will be made by the studios. All we can do is hope that the third movie won't be as bad as Spider-Man 3 and X3.

"Jurassic Park III" director Joe Johnston has signed a deal to bring the Marvel comic-book hero Captain America to the big screen.

"First Avenger: Captain America," a World War II-set movie, is scheduled for release in 2011 through Marvel Studios. No writers are on board, but the studio expects to hire shortly.

Created in 1941 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon for Timely Comics, Captain America is the heroic alter ego of Steve Rogers, who is rejected by the Army for being too sickly and undergoes an experiment that takes him to the pinnacle of human form. Paired with an indestructible shield, he became a symbol of the war effort, in and out of comics.
The character disappeared in the 1950s but was revived during the early era of Marvel Comics. He was reintroduced as part of the all-star Avengers lineup, the absence explained by having him being in a state of suspended animation during a war mission until found by the superteam.

The character's last live-action appearance was in 1990's "Captain America," a cheap indie production that ended up going to straight to video. The movie starred Matt Salinger as the hero, dethawed in modern times to fight his archnemesis, the Red Skull.

Johnston first met with Marvel two years ago. When the two parties clicked, general talks turned into Captain America-specific meetings, with much of the project's current direction resulting from those early conversations.

Kicking off with "Iron Man," Marvel Studios' slate of movies -- including "Thor" and the "Iron Man" sequel -- is building toward an "Avengers" movie set for release in 2011, in which the characters from the films team for one big adventure.

Johnston is in post-production on Universal's retelling of "The Wolfman," starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins.

Too many changes were put into effect, plus the US' financial crisis pa. Bad combination. Well lets see what happens. They didn't "kill" Clix per se. Plus there's hope that another company might go for the brandname.

Well, just because the game isn't going to be produced anymore, it doesn't mean we all can't get together and play, right? Organized Tournament play is just a clever marketing strategy to make sure people kept buying the product. HeroClix, like all other hobby games, whether cards or figures, were designed to be played amongst friends. Over the past 2 or 3 years of playing this game, I've gained some friends in the Phil HC community, and I don't see why WK closing down should stop me from playing with you guys. I don't think I'll start another hobby game after this. I have enough hobbies and responsibilities to keep my wallet thin and penniless as it is, but if ever there is a tournament or even just a get-together-free play, I'll try to make adjustments to my schedule.

You're right bro! Heroclix is not dead. There are still a lot of figures we haven't use in our games so maybe we should give them a try. Morlocks,moloids and moleman...the list goes on. I'm just surprised and saddened by the immediate "cease of operations"of Wizkids by Topps. That's not the way to end it. It didn't go out in a "Blaze of Glory"! If they at least finished their last set with Hammer of Thor and announced Wizkids' closure in advance then it would have been easier to stomach..oh well....

Yeah, I agree. No one said we have to stop playing. They're not taking our figures back or anything. And actually, I'm still looking forward to AA when it arrives (hopefully it's on its way). I feel bad for those who "invested" in Heroclix as a game because yeah the immediate reaction would be that it's total waste of money. I can speak in behalf of comic book fans that we don't feel as bad because at the end of the day we still have little plastic replicas of our favorite charaters on our shelves!

My call, laro to sawa na lang! Aside from figs syempre as Cons would put it, we got the camaraderie. We've established a really great gaming community and sayang naman kung papabayaan. We know how to contact each other. I'm still avaialable to play (if work permits). And I'm still looking for a lot of figs!

The game lives on.

the main problem with not having the product produced anymore is that you lose FUTURE player. there are no problems with the players we already have THEY WILL KEEP ON PLAYING (my daughter would be probably be wheeling me in to ATC to play with a 200 lb Ecchs and a nearly balding Geoff) but there are no incentives for NEW PLAYERS to come in to the game (see Mage Knight).

sadly it's not that the game will not be played anymore but we lose the chance to expand the game even further ... (besides paano mabubuo yung Great Ten ... apat pa lang sila)

Hopefully realms will remain, the servers crashed big time several hours earlier which was unexpected. (I'm actually relieved it's still here in one way or another.)

Newbies coming in? hmmm....if the Mech players can attract new players after it's long dead then I dont see any reason why we cannot do so too. The game is good and with the "death" of Wizkids I believe the figs(at least the nons) can be made more available to the new guys at a new, and very reasonable lower price. (waw!! bagsak presyo!!)

There are still old LE's, a few of the newer ones, maps and boosters to last us a few more years(a lot better than what Judge Mikey made an example of na indy figs just to play...I remember that one too my friend) I think and we can make this game more creative than just hoping to get a an LE or a Chase via first pick on a tourney.

Dawg's right that the vets and the guys who loves clix will keep on playing the game for as long as our knees will allow us coz we have made fun, camaraderie, barkadahan and respect the main reason na of why we play heroclix. (sanay kami na 4 o 5 lang every Wednesdays nun after work, no LEs, no boosters, just 4 old men having fun...that was way lower than what we have now - but we were happy) Parang get together yan with your friends, brothers, peers in a friendly competition that will pit your favorite figs against each other in a fun filled Saturday afternoon or just a relaxing Wednesday after work or school.
So is clix really dead? Only the company has, I believe...our community will live on!!! Wednesdays and Saturday Games will still be there every week for you guys.
Let's just rally for a better format now that we have been presented with the opportunity to use all the figs available to us....wala ng restricted figs. It will be fun for sure.

Heroclix will be around as long as there are players,both veterans and newbies,who continue playing and supporting actual tournaments(even if there's no tourney LE prizes) or free plays. I'm not joining the "abandon ship band wagon". Heroclix is not dead and buried. It's still alive and kicking. Believe it or not the Horrorclix website itswickedfun.net is still up and running with dedicated players to boot! I'm a Horrorclix fan myself! We can follow their example.

Nice blog Cool! Salamat na-special mention pa. Anyway like I said, there are things to look forward to and one of the them is this: the Ultimate Unrestricted Army. 300? 400? And so on and so forth. So yeah, old players may start digging their bins for long lost clix, and relatively new people need not be afraid of looking for old stuff because restricted tourneys won't be around as much (choice of sets now will be Judge's call). Non-generic themed teams get a big boon. Plus, the ICONS Superman and Joker are back. The question is, do they still have their game?

Cool is right when he said there's more than just playing your favorite heroes in Heroclix PH. It's the players. Never a dull moment kapag tourney. Ultimong inactive players me contribution (like Charlon with gay jokes and Arthur with manong jokes).

Thumbs up to Judge Cons for pledging his loyalty and his willingness to continue judging. Geoff just texted me and ATC is still alive and kicking. How I wish bumalik na ang NG sa Glorietta.

OF course if the game expands without new PRODUCTS, prices would go up. HE HE HE. Anyway, we're still here. NOT GOING anywhere.

Much like Mechwarrior and how people still love to play that game (heck I still play it), I still enjoy playing clix every now and then, but since I saw potential in SW minis and really enjoyed the game itself (not to mention the universe) kaya I agreed to promote it. But seeing clix products end so abruptly kinda makes me sad na wala nang next expansion to look forward to... pano na mga characters na hinde pa nagagawa :( oh well rest assured I support the judges in whatever endeavors they want to do as long as it keeps clix alive!

My reaction to the entire thing is "great! no more restricted/unrestricted!" and "the older pieces will be cheaper!"(see mage knight)

It's sad that there won't be newer sets or prize support, true. Mainly because there are pieces yet to be made and second, as some pointed out, harder to attract newer players. To me, this only means we'll have to be more creative.

We've still got cases of SI and hopefully a boatload of AA coming in. And there's probably still a lot of Avengers, JL, M&M and Crisis cases/bricks out there, aside from the Hypertimes, and ICs, Indys, and probably even Legacy and the rest. Whether they're boosters or singles, they will probably get cheaper to acquire. So no "official" prize support? Big deal. It's the game that counts. We lasted for a while buying Horrorclix and no LEs so we can play at the venues, at least right now may actual Heroclix sets pa(though I hope the Hypertime stuff drops to more reasonable levels... like P50 per booster ala Mage Knight when it tanked). And if the well eventually runs out? We'll buy Pokemon... or WoW... or Warhammer... or Star Wars... or DnD... whatever's on tap.

House ruling is going to be pervalent, and I support it 100%. Of course the basic rules remain the same, but I fully intend to modify the ones I think make no sense or turned some figs unplayable (Injustice League? Prepare to be at par with MoE; Support? -2 is too restricting, but -1 looks fine; Regeneration? minimum of 1; Hypersonic? You can flurry at -2 damage minimum 1; Figures with no keywords?? No such thing! and so on) I will eventually post what will be the Ground Rules at ATC.

Again its sad that the future looks bleak, but the community, the camaraderie and the game itself dying? NOT ON MY WATCH

Oh I'm not throwing out all of the current rules... just the ones that don't make sense or modify them to something more strategically sound. I'm still adhering to the no range when based, too. We're not going back to the nonsense of Flyers carry flyers or the uber-powerful hyper+full-range. However, one of the "positives" of this situation is freedom: to be creative and to expand what is and what can be. :cool:

The Topps Company announced today that WizKids will immediately cease operations and discontinue its product lines.

Scott Silverstein, CEO of Topps, said “This was an extremely difficult decision. While the company will still actively pursue gaming initiatives, we feel it is necessary to align our efforts more closely with Topps current sports and entertainment offerings which are being developed within our New York office.”

Upon notifying our partners, Topps will immediately pursue strategic alternatives so that viable brands and properties, including HeroClix, can continue without noticeable disruption. To that end, WizKids will continue supporting Buy it By the Brick redemptions for Arkham Asylum, and the December Organized Play events for HeroClix.

I see a silver lining here - atleast they are pursuing alternatives to allow HeroClix to continue without disruption. There is hope for new sets and new players! :)

SO THEREI totally agree. I mean I think it' be easier if we stick to what we have muna. And then try to change those stuff that really doesn't make sense. Though I'd suggest to do these one by one and slowly over a period of time. We woudn't want conflicting rules on different venues, right?

Hello guys, I'd like to thank everyone for their concern and prayers towards my health and well-being. I've been well for the past two weeks, thank you guys for your support. Sadly, I got bad news a few days ago about our beloved game and all I could say is that as long as we play the game, with or without prize support or tournaments, the game will never die. On a side note, back to Arkham. Just got a Joker SR and I realized this is one of the good things about the set. They actually made the figures fit in one army!

Joker SR, Ridder, Firefly, Penguin and Two-Face all add up to 400! Nice well-rounded team, won't be really competitive but I'm sure you'll get a lot of fun out of it.

Arkillo's a great piece. And for only 126 points. Yellow Lantern is weird but i'd wager he has his uses. The Manhunters aren't too shabby either, just a bit pricey at 64 points.:grin:

Sinestro Bats is just to costly. You're better off using Lyssa Drax with brilliant tactician and An Amon Sur. An all yellow team haha. Still Sinestro Corps Themed but has more annoying potential.

When JL was released, two of its top figures were Merlyn and Bronze Tiger, I used them a lot in non-themed teams with great success. Crisis gave us Batgirl, then Alpha came with a decent revamp of Ra's (nearly full dial of stealth, BCF and MM) and of course the real killer came in a 20 point package of death that we now know as Talia. AA designers must've read a lot of people's minds when they made the Man-Bat Assassins, cheap fliers to transport the League to execute their targets. So there.

here are my tips on how can you predict, kung ang katabi nyo ay mandurugas, schmhacker, mandurokot,... base on my own experience and my co workers experience. straight from the files of recto university school of thoughts and thefts!!!!:devious:

1. jeepny scenario 1 - nakaupo ako sa dulo, sa may malapit sa estribo, may sumakay na 6 na lalaki, ung 3 sa harapan ko, ung 2 sa tabi ko, ung 1 sa harapan, papasok ako sa work, biglang hinawakan ng kaharap ko ang binti at nagsabi na wag kang malikot, may beinte pesos sa ilalim ng upuan mo, sabay piga sa binti ko at tipong minamasahe habang kinukuha ang invinsible 20 pesos, yung katabi ko ay biglang dumikit sakin at nakatago sa bag nya yung kamay nya na tipong on the process of pandurokot na, pero bigla na akong pumara kaya hndi na natuloy.... hint: hawak sa binti.

2. jeepney scenario 2 - nakaupo sa dulo, malapit sa estribo ung co worker ko, biglang may humawak sa binti nya at inilabas ang kalahati ng katawan sa jeep habang nagsusuka kunwari at dumudura, mga 2 minutes nyang ginawa ito, di napansin ng co worker ko na yung katabi pala sa jeep ay kasama ng dumudura, biglang para ang mga durara boys, wala n ang cellphone ng co worker ko, .... hint: hawak binti ulit

3. jeepney or bus scenario - nakaupo ka sa jeep, biglang may nagsabi nang miss or tol may uhog yung buhok or may biglang humatsing at kunwari ay pinatama sayo ang dumi ng hatsing nila, siempre mandidiri ka at tatangalin ang uhog, habang gingawa mo ito, on the process na ang pandurokot ng wallet at cp mo, common itong ginagawa sa mga girls or bakla, btw, may bakla b sa thread na ito?:speechles

4. bus scenario 2 - this happened in greenhills 3 years ago, aircon bus, may biglang sumakay at hinahanap yung manok daw nila na naka kahon, at mag sasalita ng, yung manok ko boss nakita nyo, sabay tingin sa ilalim ng upuan mo at kunwari guguluhin ka sa pagkaka upo, siempre, matatawa ka, kasi manok naiwan sa aircon bus, pero matatawa ka pa ba pag nawala n ang cp mo?:eek:

Eyo! This is just to clarify the ruling re: Shape Change/Alias vs HSS last Wednesday.

The ruling in question is that if Figure A has Alias and Figure B has HSS, Figure B MAY declare Figure A as a target of the HSS attack even BEFORE moving thereby triggering Figure A's choice to use Alias or not.

So to clarify stuff, I dug out some definitions of the powers involved. So Alias grants the figure to use the power Shape Change, and SC says:

SHAPE CHANGE - When this character is chosen as the target of an attack, roll one d6. On a result of 5 or 6, the attack can’t be made. The attacker must choose another target or be given a different action.

The word target was the word in question. Now are you really allowed to declare a target even before moving your character? According to the FF Starter Glossary, target is defined as such:

target: The character or characters against which an attack is being made or a power is being used.

MAKING A CLOSE COMBAT ATTACK - When one of your characters is in a square adjacent to an opposing character, you can give your character an action to make a close combat attack.

HYPERSONIC SPEED Give this character a power action. It automatically breaks away and can move through squares adjacent to opposing characters. During its move, this character can as a free action make one close combat or ranged combat attack with its range value halved for the attack.This character must be in a square where it could legally end its move in order to make the attack. This character can continue to use the rest of its movement (if any) after making the attack.

I've attached the CC Attack and the HSS wording as well. I'm assuming since HSS clearly states a close combat attack is granted during (and not before) the movement, the Alias/SC will trigger only when the attacking character is adjacent to the feated figure. That's my .02 cents.

Again I am amazed on the quality of Human Being I have met through my Mod contests. The winner of this one was Zero_Cochrane (Watchmen team) who is from Australia. The Last winner was Stevenrogers who is from the Philippines. Zero asked me to send one of the 5 LE's I'm sending him to Goldeeh who came in 2nd (Silverhawks team)! He is sharing his prize with his Judge who did not get a full set of FF LE's. Steven is an Envoy who gave out the figs as prizes at his venue! I find it comforting that we share the Realms with these quality people.

Pwede - that particular batman is hard to get, so he should be equal in value to a chase superman - either version.

Thanks for the quick headsup. I really don't know anything about Heroclix these days.

The batman came from a brick of Arkham and other Heroclix stuff that my friend sent over as a Christmas gift. Apparently he didn't know I already left the game, so I'm now stuck with stuff that I don't even play with. Have to admit though, the Con-Exclusive Anti-Monitor and the KnightFall Batman looks tempting to give a play run.

Maybe we can get together with Nicky and Elvin and have a few casual games before I make up my mind of disposing them or keeping them.

Have to admit though, the Con-Exclusive Anti-Monitor and the KnightFall Batman looks tempting to give a play run.


Give the Sinestro Corps Anti-monitor a test run of sorts. Compared to the mass produced Anti-monitor it's actually more playable.:grin: At 400 points it's pretty brutal. (Although the "quake" special spower of the old AM is still loads of fun)

Just test play it. Even better if you have Lyssa Drax and brilliant tactician.

I got mam Anna Mendiola, the marketing department chair. :P we just proposed a lot of possible products under several brands like FHM and Fitness first. And the group decided that FHM underwear has a lot of potential so we went with that:p

Guys, i have to share this. I mean wow, we know the DC Direct action figures right? Well here's the thing, they've recently advertised the new line up of DC direct figures. WHat's surprising is what it revealed. The New DC Direct action figures feature the first 2 Black Lanterns.

I passed by the new NG in Glorietta. There's enough space for a few tables of Clix play, and it's not hot and stifling like the old play area we used to have in G2.
