View Full Version : The Object of your Affection:What new 3D objects should Wizkids make?

Ok, we've all had fun placing crates on rooftops, dumpsters in alleys, mailboxes along sidewalks and pop machines in the break rooms. Now, what new 3D terrain pieces should be introduced into our grand game? Assuming Wizkids will make more somewhere down the line, speak up and voice your suggestions about what kind of new objects you'd like to see, and, if you've thought it out, what kind of possible gameplay modifiers the objects could bring to the table?
Here's some of mine:
*Outdoor 3D objects
-Gasoline barrel-
Light object. When thrown, this object does its normal damage to the figure hit, *and all characters adjacent to the targeted fig will receive 1 damage as though the target was hit with the ENERGY EXPLOSION power.
-Fire hydrant-
Light object. Does normal light object damage in close and ranged combat attacks. *In addition, when this object is picked up, 1-4 squares of specified water terrain may be placed on the board by the player who picked up the object at the end of his move. These water terrain squares are permanent and at least one must occupy the square the hydrant occupied, even if only one square is placed.
-Telephone pole-
Heavy object. Does normal damage when thrown and used in close-combat. *However, when a close-combat attack is successful with a telephone pole, the target of the attack automatically takes knock-back due to the idea the character is using it as a giant bat to send the target "out of the ball-park" as it were.
-Wrecking ball on chain-
Heavy object. Does normal heavy damage +1 in close combat like the pop machine, *but it also does so in a ranged attack. Also, like the dumpster, *it cannot be destroyed. Only one wrecking ball per game is allowed.
*Indoor 3D Objects
-Fire extinguisher-
Light object. When used in close or ranged combat, after doing normal light damage, *the attacker also gets to place 1-4 squares of smoke cloud terrain anywhere in the square of or adjacent to the target of the attack. Normal smoke cloud rules apply. The smoke cloud disappears on the attacker's next turn.
-Steel ceiling fan-
Light object. *While on the board, this object does not act as hindering terrain for purposes of movement or determining line of sight. This is because on an indoor map, it is considered to be on the ceiling. Otherwise, it can be "picked up" and used normally. However, the attacking player can either decide to make a normal close-combat attack adding the light object modifier to damage dealt, or *substitute a blades/claws/fangs close combat attack instead. Once an attack is made with it, it and the blade/claws power is gone. The blade/claws attack is not an option at range...it does normal thrown damage.
-Tool tower-
Heavy object. Does normal heavy damage in close and ranged attacks, but when used in the attack, *gives the attacker a bonus perplex-type action that can only be used for the attacker's stats. Movement can only be boosted when using the object with Hypersonic speed, charge or running shot. Otherwise, in the attack, the player can increase attack, range or damage #'s by 1. This modifier represents all the various tools in the tool tower and how they could add to the attack in a "swiss-army knife sort of way." Remember, this modifier only works during the actual attack action and not while being carried normally.
-Grandfather clock-
Does normal heavy damage in close and ranged attacks. In addition, while in posession of the clock, the figure carrying it gets either a free move or attack action. The free attack action must use the object in its attack, meaning it only gets to do it one time. However, it can use a free move action as long as it carries the clock. This allows the figure with the clock a strategic advantage in first moving into position and than the freedom to hit regardless of actions on the team. Basically, if you've got the grandfather clock, you've got the time...Clobberin' Time!
So, there's some ideas for starters. Tell me what ya think, or go ahead and suggest some of your own ideas for objects that you'd like to see.

A Car - Heavy
This object gives +2 to damage dealt (so heavy object + base + 2), and always generates knock back. This object is immediately destroyed after use.

Say, these are great suggestions! You sure you don't work for Wizkids?
I don't have any suggestions, but I've loved playing with the objects. They've even taken on a personality of their own after dozens of games! The crate is now officially the Bat-Crate since Batman or some snot-nosed ripoff always hides in it. The office desk is now officially Ted Kord's desk, since I always play with him. The desk always gets destroyed and it's rad to imagine Blue going ballistic since his desk is in half.
Maybe it would be cool to have the Batmobile or something as a new terrain piece?

For DC
Heavy objects:
Batgirl's Motorcycle
Metropolis Bus Stop light post
Light Objects
Daily Planet Paperbox
Phone Booth
(For Marvel, make it Captain America's bike from the 80s, a Daily Bugle paperbox, and a New York bus stop).

I've always thought it would be cool to make 3D barriers. They could make fire and ice barriers out of the same sort of stuff Iceman is made from. There would be four pieces that would line up like a normal barrier. I think it would make the games look quite cool. People would start using barrier figs just for the coolness!

A Park Bench - would be cool as a light object
A Parking meter
Indoors - a bathroom stall - Rip the door off
I would like to see interactive, booby trap maps. For instance an electric fence, or maybe a barbed wire one. Pits and collapsing bridges. Dunno just dreaming here.

Cement piece
heavy object
cannot be destroyed and plus one when hit in close combat

I'd go with the WWE/Mick Foley light objects package:
- Steel chair
- Trashcan lid
- Stop sign
- Bowling ball
- Table
- Ladder
- Popcorn bag
- Bag of tacks
You could go with the more hardcore (sledgehammer or barbed wire covered 2x4) or the Japanese (box of glass/explosives). But I haven't watched wrestling in a while so maybe they've come up with some new props.

Car (Heavy) - Always generates knockback.
Propane Tank (Heavy) - Energy Explosion in addition to normal damage.
Port-A-Potty (Heavy) - Similar to Desk, only a heavy object.
Lawnmower (Light) - Does Blades/Claws/Fangs minus two in addition to your attack, for an additional bonus of 1-4 clicks!
Anchor (Light) - Optional close combat version of the attack at 4 range.
Tree - (Light) - Incapacitates

I think Port-A-Potty should incapicate too. I think getting poo on you in any fasion would stop anyone in their tracks.

In the same vein as the other objects that add B/C/F, one I thought of a while ago seems like a natural:
Chainsaw - use as a normal light object, or use it to add B/C/F to your attack. This object is only destroyed on an unsuccesful attack. If the target is succesfully hit, place the object in any square adjacent to the target. Destroying blocking terrain is automatically succesful with this object.

A tombstone has always been a favorite idea of mine, but I like the idea of a Port-A-Jon, as well.

If they made a chimney item I'd have to make a custom tick figure, then fight a hand ninja team. There'd be no other option.

A phonebooth, a heavy object where whatever character rests on it gets leadership. Leadership is all about team coordination after all.
Basil Elks
11/17/2003, 17:23
a tank
telephone pole
a big rock
a sewer lid cover
a fire hydrant
a big wedding cake
(if any of these are already made, then oops, sorry.)
I thought of the phone booth as well, but I added the idea that the carrier of the booth now gets stealth until the booth is destroyed in an attack. Hey, Superman always hid in one to change, right?

Those are some good suggestions guys!
I really like the phonebooth and kitchen sink idea too.
LOL on the wedding cake, Basil!
And chi_madness, your ideas for booby traps really aren't that far out since they made some for MK Dungeons. Actually, they would have been perfect for the X-men's Danger Room map pack. It could have included a training combat robot with its own dial, a force-field cage that's tripped if you roll a 1-3, a holographic image of of some sort of monster/alien invader that can only be taken out by a role of 5 or 6, a giant electro-magnet that forces you to role break-away, etc., etc....They would be good for Dr. Doom's castle, the Avenger's training room, and others I'm sure. I think they're a great idea chi!

1. Parking Meter: light object. This object is not destroyed when used in close combat (Ya just can't seem to be rid of the dam things!) and the attacker retains possession after use.
2. Ficus Plant: light object. The character carrying this object gains the Stealth super power. This power is lost after the object is used.
3. Statue: heavy object. A character may use this object to make a close combat attack while adjacent to it. The attacker does not have to be in possession of the item. (as if he/she is pusking over the statue)
4. Car: heavy object. Instead of picking up this object and using it normally, the attacker may roll two dice. In the event of rolling doubles (except a critical miss) the character may "enter" the vehicle. This character may then choose to make an attack action (as per normal Charge rules) to "run over" an opponent's character. This attack deals +4 damage to the opponent's character and 1 damage to the attacker. (Good thing he was wearing his seat belt.)

I dont have any object ideas, but i have other ideas to throw out.
SHIELD TANK/or HELICOPTER- A mobile unit that can carry a certain amount of people. It would also have some offensive capabilities and some defense. Basically set it up like a sentinel or sinestro. Give it a clix dial with REV indicators.
Some rules that would have to go with it: only shield team members can get into the vehicle. No wildcards or anyone else in the vehicle. And you cannot hurt the people in the vehicle until the vehicle is destroyed. And maybe to balance that rule you could have anyone who is still in the vehicle when it is destroyed will take some amount of damage.
I think thiws would be a cool idea. I know it sounds a little mechwarrior-ish but SHIELD needs it. Without the budget of the US government on SHIELDS side, SHIELD just dosent stack up in the clix world.

BTW has anyone else seen that Tamiya has released a range of 1/48 scale model tanks. The tanks are made up, painted and motorised they retail here in Australia for $25 Aus which is about $17.50 US. The models are M60Super Patton, M60 Starhip, West German Kanone, and a Japanese Defence Force Type. These models could be perfect for the Pitiful Earthling defense scenarios

I have no idea why, but I'd like to see steel I-beams. You know, the steel girders they use on buildings.

someone put down a kitchen sink a while back, which got me thinking...how about a bathtub? a full one as a heavy object and an empty one as a light object...and as a bonus, if spiderman goes near it he's trapped in it for the rest of the game...roflmfao
I think with the Moleman/Moloids they should do a subteranian set. Have a mine/maze on one side and a Sewer on the other
Heavy:
Boulder:
When destroyed, leaves a permanent pile of hindering terrain debris in the square it was destroyed in or the square of the figure that was hit with the boulder
Explosive Barrel:
Barrel does regular light object damage when used to attack. When Explosive Barrel is destroyed when using it as an attack or targeting crate directly, treat it as if using an Energy Explosion attack. If you are targeting the Explosive Barrel directly to destroy it, make a roll and compare it to surrounding figures Defense Values
Light:
Steel Pipe:
Adds one to attackers damage rating
Poison Barrel:
Treat barrel as having the Poison super power. This also affects the figure carrying the Poison Barrel.
I had sugested these back in Feb of 2003 in

Just my two cents.
(light) Table: same as desk
(light) Parking meter: +1 to AV
(light) Manhole cover: 8 range or indesctructible
(heavy) Tree: +1 to AV
(heavy) support beam/pillar: +1 AV
(heavy) statue: +1 to damage
Explosive Barrel should read
Explosive Barrel:
Barrel does regular heavy object damage when used to attack. When Explosive Barrel is destroyed when using it as an attack or targeting barrel directly, treat it as if using an Energy Explosion attack. If you are targeting the Explosive Barrel directly to destroy it, make a roll and compare it to surrounding figures Defense Values
Motorcycle - can be used as transportation by anyone, gives the user running shot or 2x range, this object has it's own defense of 14 which cannot be altered. It may be the target of an attack, if destroyed all adjacent pieces take 1 click of damage, if destroyed while it is ridden the rider takes 3 clix of damage, gives +2 damage bonus if thrown or used in close combat.

I like this - the one thing I would change, though, is instead of being destroyed, change it to hindering terrain.

I say have a heroic statue, and it gives the wielder either Leadership while holding it or Willpower

Also a figure with Battle Fury gets +2 to hit the one who hit them with a bucket of poo

For those Nightcrawler scenarios...
Light objects:
Church pew - May be used as a normal light object, or may increase the carrying character’s defense value by 2. When either option is used, the object is destroyed when an attack roll is made.
Stained glass window - If the attack is successful, roll one D6 for damage like B/C/F due to the breaking glass. If the attacker rolls a critical miss when using this object, the glass breaks in his hands.
Door - Increase the attackers attack value by 1.
Pulpit - Increase the damage delt by 1.
Heavy objects:
Church bell - Adds +2 to the damage dealt when thrown. ANy figures, including the target, with 0 or 1 action tokens that is successfully hit with this object also receives an action token, which can result in pushing damage due to the bell's ringing.
Pipe organ - This object is not destroyed when used in an attack. The attacker places it in any square adjacent to the target after use.
Steeple - May be thrown up to 6 squares. Adds +1 to the attacker's AV when used in a close combat.
Stained glass window - Is the attack is successful, roll one D6 for damage like B/C/F due to the breaking glass.

I think they sould make 3-d objects for scenerios. A cosmic cube, briefcase, generic scientist figure, artifacts like they sell in packs for mage knight. and actuall figures of the tokens from the new map packs
