Weekly Poll: Critical Mass Marquee?

As most of you know, this past weekend was the Critical Mass Marquee weekend. This week's poll asks various questions about your marquee involvement.

I had the opportunity to play Friday night after work. Our venue was full up with 12 participants, they actually had to turn a couple of folks away. 3 boosters, 300 points, 3 rounds.

My pulls were not bad, I got a unique Dormammu, and my team consisted of vet. Corsair, vet. Hepzibah, exp. Brood Queen, exp. Kraven, rookie Brood Warrior, rookie Diablo.

I took azs to task on the vet. Hepzibah in his marquee primer, and as a "reward" I pulled two of them out of my packs!

Anyhow, my strategy was simple...each Outwitter got a taxi to stay mobile, and the Starjammers stuck together as harassers/flankers. All of my games came down to positioning...a lot of careful figure placement and cat and mouse between me and my opponents.

After three rounds, I was the only undefeated player and took the first place prize of the le Kraven. Very nice! Fitting, since he was the co-mvp of my team.

All of my opponents played great games...if any of them read this, good job guys.

I already posted my team in the "I won the marquee with this.." thread, but I'll say again: I pulled 10 rookies in my 3 boosters, but it worked out perfectly because they worked quite well as mastermind fodder for my Veteran Nebula. Another victory!

I also posted my story w/ my teams on the thread "2 Marquees and 2 wins" but I had a blast this weekend. MVP of the first Marquee was the combo if E Angel and R Dreadnought. They were able to incap all of the heavy hitters while E Umar took them out.

The second tourny I got some outwit w/ an E Diablo, but R Umar and R Moonstone had to be the MVPs. R Moonstone never goes below 2 damage, thus she was able to kill a silver surfer on his last click even though he had toughness. Also I must mention E Hezpibah. I had 2. I would try to keep one on RCE and push one to BCF which also helped in the long run.

This is the first time I won a marquee, so I was even more happy to win 2!

My team for the marquee ended up being R Black Queen, Ulik, Daredevil, Elektra, Swat duder, E Calypso, and V Moon Knight. The one consistant factor in every game I played, was Ulik got killed, and I went undefeated. I was the only one that pulled ol Queenie and her combined with Ulik made for plenty of damage being dealt before the troll was taken down. By the time he was on the ropes, MK, Elektra, an DD provided hella good cleanup efforts. Having 2 mc's and pc was a plus too. I took home WW3 for my win, choosing him when given the option of who I wanted. Kraven has a nice dial, but I couldn't pass up the blue skinned hotness.

I was lucky enough to participate in 3 Marquees over the weekend. I finished in 2nd (tied for Fellowship, lost roll-off), 1st (and I had Kraven on my team), and 2nd (won Fellowship).

I fully credit having Calypso on every team for much of my success - long live Probability Control!

Having won my first tournament ever, I posted my team on a couple of threads already, but here goes...

In the final game, I faced my son! I wanted to win the fellowship (2nd place in this tourney) WW3, so I thought this team....

would give him a good shot, since every other turn, I'd have to clear, while he'd have more moves. His V Rhino went down before Dormy's psychic blast and the other two's ranged attacks, then his Warlock, Spidey, Moon Knight, and Kree were mopped up. Dormy never moved from starting position. I think my son wanted to win Archangel, too!

I guess I had no right to lose; I pulled 3 Uniques! Dormy, Cap, and Beta Ray Bill!

Wow, pulling three uniques is almost as good as winning by itself! Amazing pulls.

It was hard for me to put Dormammu back in the box...but I didn't have the kind of support I would want for him. He's a beast if you end up going against Rhinos, Absorbing Man and Ulik's, but I think he might get torn up by some Kraven's and Diablo's.

man, i mentioned it before, part of me wishes i hadn't gone. i rolled ####, i pulled #### (every good one i pulled, two people pulled the better experience level) my R Ulik went down like a cheerleader on prom night. And as a third of my team, after that I was pretty much screwed.

I enjoyed my marquee a lot. We had 8 people play, and out of those 8, five people pulled Uniques! I pulled a Beta Ray Bill, which was cool. My MVP would have to be my E Moonstone. She was very flexiable, with good damage at range and close up with her Super Strength.

I played 2, won one, and was runner up in the other. In the first tournament I had a great pull. V Diablo + E Meteorite = Destruction. I was able to get in and KO some figures w/Diablo outwitting toughness and poisoning my opponents, then get him out w/Meteorite's phasing. I drew LE Kraven for a prize, but then was offered a trade for U Nightcrawler, which I accepted!

My pull in the 2nd tournament wasn't so good. I pulled V Rhino and chose him as my main weapon, but he was only good for one big attack. He ended up getting his Invul outwilled, and with a 14 D, was a big sitting target. He never got KOed, but I had to pull him out and "bravely" run away each time. In any case, I managed to make it to the finals and lost by a Moloid.

My team was R and V Electra, V Moleman and Terrax. Had to sit out the first round due to odd number of players. Second round was against a large team. Kraven, Spidey, Diablo, Calipso, couple moleoids. Got an early hit on Spidey which made him run away, set the two Electras after Kraven, but never got to hurt him. Thankfully the guy pushed Kraven not realizing he only had one click of outwit. Spidy had been hurt down to his 18 Defend click, which made the rest of the match a bunch of useless flayling on my side. Terrax was on his last two clix when time was called, barely won.

Final match was against Surfer. (Surfer, Moonknight, Corisar, Dreadnaught, Marrow). Electras took on Moonknight in hindering terrain. Marrow came up to help, a critical hit took her out in one shot. Moon knight followed, then the two Heralds joined in. Electras were killed, but not before hurding corisar and the dreadnaught. Moleman backed up Terrax, killed the Dreadnaught when it came after him. Corisar got behing Terrax to use blades, but Moleman shot him down.

The surfer/terrax fight was great, lot of back and forth. First hit put surfer past his impervious, but then he hit regeneration and got back up to them. misses on both sides, critical miss by terrax. Finally Moleman hit Surfer with incapacitate, pushing him to a regen click, Terrax made sure he did not get the chance to use it.

Victory and LE Kraven were mine!

hey I had to vote I played but had no luck winning but i did get 2nd

I usually keep playing Marquees until I have at least one of the prizes, but this time around I only played in one. Three of my games I absolutely crushed my opponent, losing at most a R Archangel....unfortunately, the other game I rolled six critical misses (and a whole lot of regular misses), so that knocked me out of the tournament.

Played in two, placed first in the first, placed third in the second. Took home Sergei Kravinov. (which I wanted the most :grin: ) Forgot what my teams were :o .

I played, but lsot both games. I don't remember anymore what I did wrong, I thijnk it was my usual "Play someone big and scary rather than the best possible team" strategy. Works like a charm. *rolls eyes*

My fiancee won fellowship though, so it wasn't a total wash.

We eanted to go to a second Marquee, but the weather got in the way.

I Won with a team of V Ulik, V Diablo and E Calypso. Didnt pull any U's and one guy pulled 2.

MVP had to be Ulik, in one game he chased down a R Ulik and Venom in the dying turns of the game.

Got the LE Kraven, shame I collect Xmen :( I wanted Warren.
