I just got a v absorbing man out of a booster and I was really looking forward to use him. I tried to play him but he was just too slow. Even if I pulsewave the 1st turn, I still can't make the most out of him because of the NAAT rule. Like Bane, he isn't as effective as with the old rules. I was just wondering if anyone had succesfuly played this bald guy on a 300pt, 200pt Marvel only team. Thanks:)

forget a Taxi and slap a Mandroid with him. He can take a few hits (assuming you miss the Imp rolls) That man made my Marquee a SLAUGHTER

i have, but it was just in home games, for fun, i dont go to events because i hate the people at them, but any way, yeah he can do a lot, as long as he is in the thick of things, i just throw wave after wave of cheap grunts and such, in front of him, then march him right up to any tied up enemys, but that wont work in tourny play, so i dont know:ermm:

The freak, the problem is, when you tk baldy, he just gets left there in the center of the map. Without, leap/climb or charge, he wouldn't do much. Also, he can't take a beating coz of his low defense, which even a moloid and an outwitter could hit.

the E is better...

How is the E better? I have him to but I preffer the V for his 5 clicks of cce

The E has clean 4 damage and its always great to see an E absorbing man kill a V ulik

For maximum utilization try pairing up Absorbing Man with a flying TK'er. Problem is you can say just about the same of any big bruiser in HC. Another thing you could try is to just taxi the guys up to opponents along with R Invisible Girl while letting cheap shooters, like E Bullseye take pot shots at the enemy.

I agree with you though that he is real hard to use. Also try not to always PW him right onto his good clicks. He can be pretty dangerous even on his first, he does after all have 11 attack on it. You just have to be extra careful with the guy.

Hope this helps,
VH

I tend to agree here, that E, IMO, Is better. First of all, he has the natural 4 damage, which can be combined with SS to increase damage, while the V has CCE. Now, don't get me wrong that CCE goes along way after the initial hit, but you can still perplex the 4 damage to 5, easily. Also, the two range might not be that much, but it's still 2 range which could do some damage if you tk and still can't reach the opponent.

If you're so worried about leaving him out in the open, don't. I doubt he will be alone out in the middle and if does, what's to say that your opponent won't take advantage, remember the NAAT is for both you and your oppponent.

The reason you would wanna use the exp Absorby is that he has the MOE team ability. I made a nice little MOE team using Absorby, Titania, Vet Whirlwind. If you get them grouped around one target they can deal out a deadly 14 clicks of damage.

Pair him with the R Invisible Girl and let them go to town.

I'd say that you'll have fun teaming him up with either Selene or ideally, Moondragon. Moondragon has 10 range, TK and MC, plusshe's a flier. She can TK Absorbing man into thr fray, them sit back and MC anyone fool enough to get into range to make them move into Absorbing Man's attack squares.

I'D say pair him up with a few cheap B/C/F's (Elektra, Blade, even exp logan will do in a pintch) as well as some version of quicksilver and possible whirrlewind. Send all thouse figures out and remove some of the biggest threats to Abosrbing man before bringing him to the for front. Kinda clear the way so that when he gets there, attack values will be lowered, out witters and rangers will be in place, and the other player's figs will be tied up. This way you can control who Absorbing Man attacks and who can hit him back. Just be sure to plan ahead and try to control the bord as much as possible. Don't hold him back for more than one turn and try to time it so that the opponents big fig will have to push in order to figtht him. Hopefully you got some good B/C/F rolls or whirrlewind gets off a hit or two and you should be in buisness. This is the way I used to win with IC Juggernaught. By the time Juggs got there sometimes he would only have to hit one figgure before the rest of the team couldn't hurt him. Well hope this helps.

I like the Moondragon/Absorbing Man idea. The Mandroid idea is solid too. Why are ya so worried about Outwit? TK at the big guy at the Outwitter and knock him down a few clix. No more problem. Send a flier in to get A-Man next turn so they arent moving at the same time. My take on this is that the original poster is looking for A-man to win the game all by himslef. Cant do that since NAAT. And I'm glad.

I've been toying with using Exp Absorbing Man, LE Doombot, U Spiral, U Moondragon, and R Jean Gray.

If you TK the LE Doombot and Absorbing Man up to a figure, the LE Doombot can Pulsewave and knock the Absorbing Man onto his Money clix, who can then also attack right after being Pulsewaved in the same action (thanks to the MOE ability). The LE Doombot can Perplex down the target's defense after PW to make it easier for the Absorbing Man. You can clear or push them after TK'ing Spiral up to make sure whoever it is gets finished off.
