IDEAS WELCOME

3d DANGER ROOM/WAR ROOM TERRAIN

I am looking for any and all information I can find about the X-mens danger room, I need statistical information, weapons and Technical info, also I am looking for blueprints and any and all types of things that could make the terrain look cool.

I also want it to play well. I want to include some clever traps.

If anyone has any Ideas to share I will take them on and try to include the best ones. Also if you know of any sites that provide exclusive information on the danger room or any comicbook that can provide details. Please let me know where I can get them or see them.

Some weapons systems/ or traps I have thought of are...
Tell me what you think...

Spike Walls (Part of wall that pushes in when Triggered)
Doom Ball
Electrified Floors
Lasers (Laser pointers)
Anti Grav-Guns (for the pesky Flyers)
Barriers (Plexiglass may Work)
Capture Floors (Plexiglass may Work)
Elevating Floors
Destructo Disks/?Buzzsaws? (Bey Blade Parts may Work)
Various Targets (for extra victory points)
Mirrors

?????
Do you think rookie Mech Warrior Bots could be used as Droids.
?????

So in a sence the X-Clix will be actually fighting the whole room instead of just another team of villans or the 2 teams can face off in a room that doesn't to much like them.

I also wanted to include ways that different traps could be turned off or destroyed.

Also what color should the D Room Be????

FEEDBACK IS WELCOME

Hey Obsidian,

I've starting writing the rules for playing Danger Room Devices/HQ Defences/Arcade-Villian Bobby Traps...and such.

we could share ideas...and create a fan-based expansion.

Wus up Drex

I was thinking of that too...

The mirrored walls thing sounds sort of catchy to me. I also thought of using circuit boards from different broken appliances to make wall and floor details.

Some of the things that come out of broken vcrs and computers are nice add ons.

I am searching for ideas for floor tiles. But as of yet Im stuck with using plastics for tiles. I might even have to resort to painting the tiles myself.

ONCE AGAIN ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME

Danger Room (DR)

Team Ability: When any (DR) device is KO'd, it explodes causeing damage to figures in all adjacent squares. Rookie DR devices cause 1 click of damage, Experienced DR devices cause 2 clicks of damage, and Vetern DR devices cause 3 clicks of damage.

Thoughts behind devices:

Rookie DR devices represent the original style danager room devices and devices created by the common villian or that guard the typical hero/villian HQ. (limited movement, no flight, no super senses/Toughness)

Experienced DR devices represent advanced technology (better movement, some flight, no super senses, some energy shiels/deflection, Invulnerabilty)

Vetern DR devices are either alien technology, mystical items, and futuristic devices. Most devices of this type are able to move great distances, Phase (relocate beneath floors), have flight, are Impervious, and able to predict character actions (super serses)

Some Rules:

All DR devices are immune to knockback and damage from pushing. They are also immune to Mind Control, Psychic Blast, Steal Energy, and possibly Outwit (maybe not).

Starting/Set Up:

DR Player's starting area extends from the DR Player's map edge to half way across the map.

DR player may choose to place all, some, or none of his forces (figures) on the map at the time of startup.

A DR figure may be placed on the map at any time after the first round, at any location on the map (except in any other players starting area) Adding a DR figure to the map is a power action and added figure can nnot perform any action that turn.

Problems:

-The danger room fequently alters the elevations of regions, how to represent this with a figure? Idea: purchase elevated floor tiles for XX points as part of army... and use/move them as a figure. (i.e. 1x1 elevated tile, 2x2 elevated tile)

Truly Genius....

I was thinking of modding some droids by throwing differnt toy parts together and fitting them with small enough mounts to fit the flight bases in heroclix:

The bots that I thought of were:

Buzz Saw Bot (Charge) or (BCF)
Sniper Bot (Stealth/RCE)
Force Bot (Force Blast) or (Pulse Wave)

As for the Elevating floors I have discovered some interesting devices at my job that look pretty sci fi....

I work at a factory where we make auto parts and I have found some Gears and some Tech-like structures and have joined them together... Together the parts Measure 4.5 inches high.

The Gears and the Tech parts sit up pretty high and they tower over the heroclix bases and characters, giving that larger than life appeal that the Xmen always have and that the Danger room should Reflect...

I have thought of different sizes also to make the room more interesting there will be Elevation 1, 2, and 3 tiles... Extended tiles for rising floors as well as single tiles... that would be able to forms systems of steps or stepping stones... I just call'em (Lilly Pad Tiles)

I was also thinking of making a Rising Quad... Four squares of movement for a single character and a trap for four characters in one place....:ermm:

Since the Heroclix maps are 24x24 I was thinking of enlarging the terrain to an equal 30x30 which would allow for lots of room and extra hiding places for figs and Booby Traps.

I have found some nifty items in other places to make the Danger Room look more technical... My broken VCR has provided some otherwise useless circuit board and some interesting artifacts for Heroclix Games.

The rules you have made are Great and I will be sure to apply them...

As for Outwit/Perplex in the Danger Room, Beast, White Queen and Gambit
are the ones who posess these powers...

Beast: is the Xmen's Brainiac I was thinking that Outwit may be used to take advantage of the use or effectiveness of the devices.
Gambit: is the Clever Cajun type... So I can see where he would be able to outsmart some of the Danger Room Defenses...
White Queen: leadership ability comes in handy early especially in the Danger Room, then that outwit ability is useful in a bind from 10 spaces away...

What Are Your Thoughts Omega...

Get back to me with anything you have, it is a pleasure to share Ideas with you... Feel free to let me know what u dont think would work...;)

You can also find old computer or monitor boards. some of the transformers on those look wicked. You can desolder the hardware you don't want off & use the rest as trap items or whatever.

Maybe these images will help. Also if you can snag a copy somewhere there is an awesome book called - X-Men Survival Guide to the Mansion that Marvel put out that has nearly anything and everything you need for the layout and design of the Danger Room and the whole mansion. I snagged a copy off ebay awhile back just for the same reason.

For cheap and effective, you could use Aluminium Foil covering the tiles.

The you could leave them removable (use a temporary sticky substance) and flip them for effects - like when it turns to water, tentacles, a robot appears, blocking terrain, etc.

Sounds Cool

What types of temporary glues have you seen that I could get my hands on...

My thoughts were to make the tiles changeble so that the layout of the DR could change enough times.

I was thinking of using some rookie doc ock tentacles for those effects but I dont know how the tiles would fit onto the platform evenly with the other tiles.

?Water?

Interesting to see that you brought that up... How do you think that could be best represented???

Should the water tiles have a special effect on the figure who enters it?

Hope to hear some feedback Ty

Thanks;)
