View Full Version : Weekly Poll: What Indy "icon" do you want to see in 'Clix?
webhead817

This week I'm throwing out some of the big name Indy characters that didn't make the Indy set, which do you want to see the most? As usual write-ins are encouraged if I don't list your first choice.

I'll cast my vote for Spawn!
I think he was the corner stone figure that would have helped propel the Indy line. I like all of the suggestions however! HeroClix can use as many different character's as can be made!

Isn't Lady Death being put out by Cross Gen now? Maybe we'll get a crack at her yet.
I know Spawn was the big name when the Image Overpower set came out. Though I think he's lost some of his pop, he's still a very well recognized Indy character.
Gen 13, Wild cats, (I know this isnt indy but i want to see robocop in a marvel set, probably never happen) Lady death, Savage Dragon. Speed racer not sure if he is indy think he is. Street fighter, they had an independent comic for a while. Predator i know he made an appearences in Dc but he had his own book in Darkhorse. Ill think of more later.
The Tick, for sure. Arthur, too.

I want Death (from Neil Gaiman).
I voted write-in, because I want Ripclaw.

The Tick
Conan
I voted TMNT before I read the write-ins.
Tick would be awesome!

I voted write-in 'coz I want Jim Starlin's "Dreadstar" (Epic/First/Malibu/Slave Labor) :)

02/24/2004, 04:57
I wanted to see characters that blend with the Marvel and DC sets - figs that fly or have Super-Strength, or Invulnerability, of RCE - super-heroes.
Thats what was the biggest disappointment in Indy (for me).
I was looking for Stormwatch, WILDcats, Gen 13, Cyberforce, etc.
AAA Pop Comics
This line of Characters includes Mike Alred's Popular Madman, as well as his Friends the Atomics, The Valorous [colo=red]Spaceman[/color], The enegmatic Red Rocket Seven, and all their friends, acquaintences, and enemies.
These would be great characters to see in Heroclix, and though they would be less well known; they have much more dynamic powers and appearences than most of the sword and gun weilding Heroes and villains in the last indy set. I assure you that even if you didn't know who these guys were, you'd enjoy getting them in packs, and playing with them in games.
I also hope to see Mike Alred's X-Statix Characters in future Marvel Sets. Cross overs between the Atomics and X-Statix would be cool, as would one team against the other. maybe we'll see this on the comics page someday!

Death, the spin off from Sandman, is a DC Imprint, starting with DC, but now Vertigo.
It isn't INDY.
I voted TMNT, but my second choice would be Dragon, and third, Grendel.

I think this is kind of a no-brainer:
http://www.cosmiccomix.com/news/051703/maxx.jpg
plus, little black and white Isz would be a great replacement for those dumb moloids.
(Not that I wouldn't love a Savage Dragon, but slapping some green paint on a Despero isn't all that hard. :p)
WakandaMan
03/23/2004, 02:23
Hmmm....
The Mask!
(followed by)
Battlechasers, The Tick and Mystery Men (technically they're a Marvel property).
Wasteland
03/23/2004, 02:42
Spawn takes a close second. I think that Wildstorm should do an Indy set, not a DC set, as they are sort of seperate from the DC Universe. This would give Indy to also get a wide variety of clix with many different powers and abilities.

I'm actually quite suprised that there is not an Indy Spawn click as of yet.
But....nobody's with me on the Maxx? *sniffle*

03/23/2004, 15:05
I think Usagi Yojimbo would be great...and all his supporting cast. Now I know nobody wants pointless BCF anymore specially after Indy Clix seemed to have too many.
I would love to see Usagi clix done differently and create a whole new means to interprete sword fighters.
I would also love a minature game in the style of clix featuring a feudal war style...or something like that.
Perhaps a East meets West. Take that time period and design abilities to fit how different cultures fought during the time period and have huge teams of like 25 characters at your disposal at one time.

This is the first of these polls that I have looked at it and cursed the fact that I couldn't have more than one choice.
TMNT
Gen 13
Savage Dragon
All good. Ultimitely I picked Savage Dragon.
Imagine all of them though
REV's of the 4 turtles, with perhaps couple U's from the image series, like Raph in the shredder armor or cyborg Don.
REV Savage Dragon or even just him as a U. Not to mention an amazing Savage Dragon supporting cast. A Mighty Man click with an activation click that has support. That would be something
REV Gen 13 characters, with a U that has Fairchild in one of her various "costumes" that she donned in the original series (although I believe DC currently owns Wildstorm who owns the Gen 13 line. I could be mistaken.

Sephie from the now defunct "Meridian".
Flying, Willpower, Support, leadership, willpower, TK, Regen, CrossGen TA

I'll be happy to see the TMNT, but I did a write-in vote. I'd really love to see some clicks from the new Streetfighter comics. Secondly, I'd like to see some of the Thundercats. (I know there is enough BCF in Indy already, but I just like to see the characters).

Mage
Madman
Nexus
Marshal Law
Tick
TMNT
more B.P.R.D.
Groo (if you can have other fantasy characters like Arwyn...)
Mighty Magnor
Martial Law
Alan Moore's ABC Line (Tom Strong, Promethea, Jack B. Quick, Splash Brannigan, Top Ten, Greyshirt, Cobweb)

TMNT all the way. Here's the team ability.
If two turtles are in play, all turtles get plus one to there attack.
If three are in play, each gets plus one to the attack, and plus one to the damage.

The Tick!
SPOOOOOOOON!
Thunderclese
05/08/2004, 04:54
And also, the Maxx. I just like the big dumb characters, I guess.
But the Tick and his universe are still my first choice. I can't believe he wasn't a choice! Lady Death?! Vampirella?! They haven't been cool in a while! (no offense intended) The Tick, however, is evergreen!!
I voted TMNT.
But whatever it takes to get another Indy set out.
There are sooo many great characters you could put in a set.
All of the poll choices, Aliens, Predators (can you say AVP movie tie-in?), The Tick!, The Maxx....
Top it all off with a Galactus sized Godzilla big figure.... aces baby.
It'd be a crime to see Indy die with so much wasted potential.
Hatut Zeraze
05/20/2004, 02:42
I voted for Vampirella, but I agree with many of the alternate choices expressed in this thread:
1. AAA Pop characters
2. The Maxx
3. ABC Characters
and I would add:
4. Astro City characters
5. Freedom Force characters
6. Dark Horse Comics characters (Ghost, King Tiger, Motorhead, Barb Wire, etc.)
7. Flaming Carrot. I need a heroclix to go with my favorite shot glass.

06/03/2004, 21:57
The Tick, Vampirella, Evil Ernie, Scud, and the Maxx.
Valiant... Valiant... Valiant.
Give me Magnus, Solar, Turok, X-O Manowar, Harbingers, Bloodshot, HARD Corps, Shawdowman, Rai, and Darque.
Of course it needs to be the original Valiant. Not the Acclaim Valiant stuff.

06/03/2004, 22:56
oh, and let's not forget a special big fig package:
Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot sold together but on two bases (a normal one for rusty, and a sentinel one for BG). Set them up so they come in at say 300/400/500 points for the duo.
I'd love to see The Mighty Crusaders!
Fly-Man, Comet, Black Hood, the Shield, Jaguar, etc...
They'd make great clix!
shock man x
06/03/2004, 23:08
I wouldn't mind seeing Spawn and other future Indy Figures sold like the Mage Knight Hero packs where you get 5 figures in each pack. They did a team of four and then an enemy they all united against. So you could get all four turtles with a turtle team, and Shredder.
I think this might be a better way to go with Indy than it's another set.

I voted for TMNT, because of the more than Hero Clix fan base that would buy up the set, just to get them. Would boost the sales and drag in new players. But all the choices need to be in the next one, plus the Tick, the Maxx, or just hint that they have been signed and will be in another expasion.
How about Robocop (even though it would be hard to pull off), Shadowhawk, and the Wild Cats Team especially Warblade!!

The Elementals
Mighty Crusaders
Nexus
Aztec Ace
Reuben Flagg (from American Flagg!)
Jack Staff
Airboy
Usagi Yojimbo
Astro City
the characters from 1963

The Spirit

Neil Gaiman's Death. (I know she's not Indy but the Sandman is so far out of Continuity to the DC universe they'd probably market her as such and if no. . a DC Unique wouldn't be bad) Problem is her Dail would be pure Carp. It's not like she's Marvel's Death who is a God (Or Goddess depending on the Comic) But I still think she'd be a great figure to have. She'd probably have Phashing Teleport, Physic Blast, and perplex. . .Yeah Rp a Triguns Daughter off the base. . and you'd pretty much have what I could see her as, but I haven't read too much of her, one Comic I found on a cheap Rack and a Mangaish side book that was more comic relasif then showing what the charactor can do. . .Oh Yeah she'd also have an 11 click Dail. . because she's Imortal. . except for the one day she goes to Earth in Human form (And that's probably wha ta UNique would be if we got one)

I voted, the Crow. TMNT, would be a close second, followed by Spawn. Grendel, gets honorable mention.
lensnart
06/06/2004, 15:08
Neil Gaimans death is too a god. In fact she is one of the endless who are above the gods, she ushers gods into death. She is said to be the last thing in the universe that will die she will shut of the lights and close the door when the party is over.
Her dial would if it was done like the comics would put Galactus to shame, her defense could concievably be infinate and she could bring death to any that she chose, (though this could lead to philosphical arguments of if she could only take people when it was their time or if since she is killing them that it would then be their time.)
Frontman
06/06/2004, 15:38
John Kovalic's "Dork Tower"

With that said, I would like to see any or all of the comics you have listed as eventual releases in Indyclix sets, Particularly TMNT and Gen13!
Heck I would love to see the Tick, Mage's Kevin Matchstick, and Astro City. I'd also very, very much like to see more characters in Indyclix for Dangergirl, Hellboy, and Crossgen, although considering Crossgen Comic's current financial problems it may be a long wait...

Time for a new poll. this "weekly" poll has been up for four months. Either get on these polls or allow us to make our own polls.
P.S. indie clicks will only be good if they keep out the lamewads from image and crossgen, and stock up on GiJOe, Tick, Usagi, Astro City and anything from the ABC universe.

Well, Indy could be great if WizKids would acknowledge that the overwhelming majority of people who play HeroClix aren't nine years old. Give us characters from "mature" major publisher imprints like Vertigo, Wildstorm, and Marvel's MAX line. Make them the central draw for an Indy set and guess what? It will sell like nobody's business...
what is "Indy" about DC's Vertigo, Wildstorm, and Marvel's Max?

They're in keeping with the Indy spirit - author controlled characters, mature themes, niche markets. You've got to cast the Indy net a little wider if you actually want to land customers. I know the set sold well enough, but how many boosters did you open where you didn't know a single figure in the pack? You'd get three chicks with swords in KISS make-up and a random Bruce Lee lookalike. Just the chance that you'd pull a Hyperion or a Jenny Sparks or a Mervyn Pumpkinhead would give the set infinitely more appeal. The biggest battle would be to iron out the revenue sharing between the big two and the little guys...

Hey Thor I bet even Jesus knows that Vertigo, Wildstorm and the like, though they are not indie have an indie feel. Maybe you should be quoting thomas, you big doubter.
Well. lensnart, He surely does, but I didn't ask Him. Indy-ish isn't going to get passed the fact that the licenses are held by DC and Marvel, not the Independent companies.

Although we do need a new poll, I voted anyway.
If they put the Ninja Turtles in an Indy set, I would be happy. Happy in the way that I would run around my local gameshop yelling "Heroes in a half-shell," then having a friend respond with "Turtle Power."
I can see how would like a Spawn in a set, but due to my hatred of McFarlane, I wouldn't be too excited about the figure. Therefore, if this ever happened, any Spawn I recieved would be instant trade fodder. For TMNT, preferably.
Other characters I would like to see: the Tick, Abe Sapien, and in keeping with the late '80's thing I have, I would like to see Ghostbusters clix, even though I have no idea how that would work. (There is a really good series of comics now, go buy them!).

savage dragon
i dont really read much indy but these are teh ones that stood out even before the first set(except the hellboy stuff i didnt know a hellboy from a bellboy before indy clix) if they cant get spawn to me its a waste of time.

I'd buy another Indyclix set in a heartbeat. But of course it'd have to have the big Image names.
My favorite image character has always been Savage Dragon.

The next Indy set could have the feat "Sword" . . . "This Character has BCF." :p

"Super senses" This character may roll one six sided dice when attacked, on the event of a 5 or 6 the attack misses!
Indy character's could def. benefit from that ;)

That would be awsome. Buffy clix, I'd buy'em.
I want to see capcom clix. That would be better.

I voted Crow. D@mn, I'd love to see him in clix form.
wasn't sure if Transformers were from Marvel/DC liscensing or not ? It'll be great to see them in a hybrid Mage Knight/Mechwarrior dial . maybe one with the Rider dual dials , but instead of the usual 1-inch dials we'd have 2-inch dials .
i know it's hard to implement :) one can always dream ...
I voted TMNT . I would LOVE to see a whole bunch of retro Mousers on my board.(i've already got my Ewoks and Jawas...)

Personally, I want to see the Elementals and their villains....Most of the other choices on the list are OK too, but I want the Elementals!

Why doesn't anybody like GRENDEL?
I voted on this poll so long ago that I forget who I even voted for. But since this poll has resurfaced again I have decided to change (or maybe its staying the same since I can't remember who I voted for in the beginning) my vote.
I now say the Tick
or
The Shadow.
It looks like 23 people who voted like Grendel......
