She has an excellent mix of powers to help her teammates survive just about anything. She’s not a powerhouse when it comes to damage, but she can help out with her Barrier, Incapacitate, Probability Control, and a fair amount of Regeneration and Support. She also gets a big boost from the Phasing/Teleport over most of her dial, which allows her to maneuver around freely to get to whomever needs her help. Her powers also allow you to control the game a bit by blocking off areas (with Barrier) and allowing you – or forcing your opponent – to reroll (with Probability Control). She may not win the game for you, but she’ll certainly play a big part in the right force.

Hey first post :)
And Raven - the one I was waiting for :)
It all sounds good to me, especially Probability Control!
Probability control in DC? Glad to finally see it.
That looks like THE support piece. PC, barrier, incapacitate, regen, and support? Nice!

Okay, She should ba a flying fig and should also have MC.
Aside from that... NICE!

So, with all the flying models in non-flying poses we have, now we get a non-flying model in a flying pose?
Very nice, a PC character and one that I'd put on my team, excelent. Freaky expensive for a PC, but excelent.
Ever notice that every PC piece in the game is female? Oddness. (not counting mid-dial PCs or anything).

Finally Barrier in DC (you don't choose any of the other figs for their barrier clicks when 2 away from dying). Under my new collecting policy (JLA and Bats only, unless it does something those teams don't yet offer) I'm allowed to get her. Score!
Very nice sculpt, too.

PROBABILITY CONTROL IN DC! *dances*
Well, so far every single figure I've seen has knocked my proverbial socks off. Now I know how all the Marvel fans felt when CM was getting sneak-peaked!
This is wonderful. Sounds like my Titans may soon be truly playable!!!

Ever since Hypertime, I'd said that the thing keeping the X-Men from being as cool as the Titans was the lack of Regneration or Support. I kept waiting and waiting for Raven to come along with it, and here she is.
Boo. Yah. :)

She'd be much more useful as a flyer.
She had better have a long range for her barrier or she probably won't be very useful.
I love utility pieces, but I'll wait until I see her range and dial before jumping all over her as the next big thing.

Probability control is awesome, but what really excites me is:
Support (finally in a way that makes sense from the comics)
Regen
and Titans team ability.
Titans as a team option just got a *whole* lot better!
The GOAT
02/11/2004, 14:13
This is awesome. The X-Men have Jean Grey, a multi-purpose medic (the Vet at least) that is easy to keep on the right click thanks to her team ability (and cheap, useless team members). And now, the Titans have virtually the same thing, except Raven also has Prob Control to start off with. So early game, she tries to keep your guys from being hit, and then late game, she heels them back up so the can stay in the fight, I love it. Also, with the 3 Titans that all need the kick in the pants to get going (Hawk, Dove, and Changling), Raven should have no problem staying on the right click, even if she pushes.
Raven is certainly making some appearances today with the sneek peek here and landing on the cover of Teen Titans #8 which also comes out today. Anyone else think the E and V versions have her flying?
Cyborg, now Raven... keep those Teen Titans Wizkids coming!!
On a side note, I would love to see a Changeling/Beastboy Con Exclusive (similar to the Plasticman mailbox) where he is in an animal form!!

While the cartoon Raven would definitely rate TK (which is why I use a U Phoenix for her), in the comics Raven didn't fling things around like that.
I also agree with not giving her MC. Her mental powers, when used offensively, were more of the Incapacitating nature than the "do what I tell you" MC nature.
I'm doin' the happy dance!

Not really, since you can't re-roll your own impervious rolls. Actually, in a 2 player game, impervious can't be re-rolled at all.
No stealth?

And one other note - when a piece hits 80 points, I really, really don't want to think of it as a support piece.
Still, I see Titans theme teams in my future.

You cannot use PC on IMP rolls
One sweet sounding piece sounds like fun
And pc is still fine with impervious.. attempt to hit despero's 17 defense.. roll a 12.. make them reroll the attempt to hit your impervious fig again.. they roll a 9 barely hitting him
then make them do the impervious roll
mwahahaha
You know I completely forgot that, I haven't used PC in so long. Thanks for the correction.
What more could I ask for? How about some TK? I mean she is a TKing machine in the comics... moving all those items and putting up barriers.
Ehh, I guess they don't want Titans to be a good theme team after all. We'll be forever stuck using Cosmic Boy for TK.
Still PC... drool

WOOHOO! Her cost really shows how expensive Incap is, but at the same time she may have a 10 range &/or multiple targets for the Veteran, plus at Vet she has to fly. Exp should fly too. however the phasing/Barrier/PC makes her nigh invulnerable to attacks & she can always just use Regen/Titans if she does get tagged. Support late dial (a la Vet Beast) allows for some great tactics if you know your characters dials well. She pushes to heal Hawk, she rolls enough to put him on his first click, Hawk then uses the team ability to heal her & shave his activation. If she didn't push than maybe he healed her back to Barrier & PC, In this case Hawk could push to charge someone next turn & Raven can PC the attack or she could push next turn to barrier... thus letting Hawk pass safely... It makes for great strategy...

Normally I'd agree with you on that, but in this case I think it's a little different. This isn't Iceman-style one-trick support. She's not there JUST for the Barrier...she's got LOTS of support options. Healing, Barrier, Support, and then the ability to Regen herself...50 point on the R will probably be a steal, and 81 points is a fine price to pay for all those abilities.

Maybe Grinner can back me up on this (he seems as much a Titans freak as me). Raven does NOT fly in the comics. I'm at work so I don't have the issue in front of me. But Cyborg and her had a conversation. She told him she phases through dimensions. The only issue where I saw her fly (or should I say float) was in the issues where she was taken over by Trigon.
YES!! finally Raven and PC at one shot!!

If one of your figures are caught in an Energy Explosion that you make on your turn. Your roll on your turn.

Let's hope that she starts with Barrier, has a decent range, and starts with PC. That whole mid dial carp gets annoying. I'd assume she starts with barrier and PC then gets regen and support. But who cares, I love it!

02/11/2004, 14:53
Okay,
Absolutely love the sculpt. How cool would it be if the LE of Raven is painted white.
I do hope that the later versions of her are on flight base - as phasing flyers are much more useful than phasing grounded characters.
The suite of support powers are substantial - though I believe that the character should have received Mind Control and/or Psychic Blast.
With Regeneration, Support and the Teen Titans Team ability Raven should make it much harder to take down a Titans squad.
However, she is pricey. 81 points is a heck of a lot to pay for a "support" piece.
Still, very happy with how this one turned out.

Don't get me wrong here, she sounds cool and all, and maybe her Exp and Vet versions will have deep dials or something, but tying up 50-81 pts in support is a bit pricey for me in 300 point games. If you are a DC only player I can understand wanting her for the PC, but in mixed universes for 81 pts you can get healing, barrier, and pc on three separate figs and not have to worry about pushing if you want to put up a barrier on one turn and heal the next. Overall she looks pretty cool though, but I hope for her pt value she has decent AV/range/damage numbers.

I'd love to see the dials, but the description sound like she is VERY playable because of all her support abilities, despite an expensive cost.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but...
How many people have noticed that DCs support figures are much better than Marvel's. How many effective Marvel Outwit figures have multiple uses? Versus DC? Now look at Marvel's PC vs. DC's addition to the PC forray. Hm... plus she has support and barrier. Now look at Marvel's figures with Support v. the dual fighting medics of DC... hm...

Heck, if she has Support at the top of her dial (which she will probably have only in the rookie) with a 9 or 10 attack it would be WELL worth the points.
I predict 1 click of 9 attack/Support mid-dial on the Vet. Beyond that, I couldn't imagine having a Support fig who could easily heal a 16 or 17.

True, but look at costs of the figs too. V-Checkmate medic with an 8 AV is 19 pts, right? Rookie and Exp Paramedic combined is 18 pts for an 8 and a 7 AV. Granted the Checkmate Medic can attack for 2 damage, but one push on them and their AV drops to a 6.
And as far as Outwit goes, who is the cheapest DC fig with Outwit? Rookie Deathstroke for 40 is a pretty good deal for his outwit, stealth, and Willpower, but he is the only outwitter I would really qualify as a support piece. Black Panther for 29 points, while a one trick pony, can still be a game breaker.
So I wouldn't say DC support pieces are that much better. You can usually get the same capabilities for about the same cost in the Marvel universe, just maybe not in one fig (which IMO the more figs on your team the better).

Which comics are you talking about?
Unless you're talking about Teen Titans Go, the comic based on the Teen Titans cartoon, I don't recall Raven TKing people or objects. She would wrap people in her 'soul self,' but that's Incapacitate, not TK.

You are correct, a non-posessed Raven doesn't fly - she teleports. However, her 'soul self' does fly, and flight is the only way she can teleport someone with her. So while not technically accurate, it won't be completely inaccurate if they do give her flight on one of her versions.

Here's hoping for the first 9 Attack support. It certainly fits her character.

From what Grinner said about her "flight", it wouldn't be any different than giving Shadowcat flight because she floats and carries people through walls on a regular basis.
If Raven flies, it would be seriously kickin' to have a fig who could Soar/Barrier/heal adjacent soaring allies. That idea just thrills me.

Wow, now we're one step closer to the classic Pérez/Wolfman Teen Titans of my youth! And Cyborg is coming... I love they way they made her a support piece, with a set of power that gives the Titans TA a real boost.

I'd rather have that, then a lousy 9 point medic who's barely worth attacking for the points.

Paptimus, you took the words right out of my mouth. We are getting closer to be able to field the classic Teen Titans of the 80's. I guess at this point we are really just missing Kid Flash. (I know Speedy, Aqualad and Terra made some guest stints on the team during that time period. Am I missing anyone else here?)

RAVEN....Awsome support clix.
Raven (Blue) in Marv Wolfman era does not fly but can carried people by teleporting. (So she should be a flying character to support this power.)
Raven (White, with four eyes! with red skin!!.Trigon Posses.) Also in Marv Wolfman era does fly but not a Titans member.
Raven (White. with normal skin) Marv Wolfman era. Non flier. She came back as Titans again.
Raven (Black leather, dominatrix style!! Trigon seed saga)
Marv Wolfman era. Once again lead an evil Titans team and is not a T member.
Raven (Blue) Cartoon. FLY, TK, SUPPORT.
(Not to mention Green, Red, Purple, and other color versions of her in the episode(NEVER MORE))
Raven (Blue) Current .Ressurected to a different body. FLY????SUPPORT????Other powers????Carried Jericho soul???
How many of these Raven versions will we get to see in Heroclix form.
I am hoping to get an LE Raven (White) in Titans.
And a Unique Raven (White, Evil, Fly, 10 attack with Hypersonic Speed to represent her Trigon posses. Mind control, Four eyes and Red skin, non Titans) AAAARRRGGGHH!!!
I was hoping since it is Valentine week end, Whizkid would show Raven with Deathwing (the evil Nightwing from other dimention.) That would be a kicker.
End.
Titans Forever.
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a fantastic figure, but I just don't understand why she has PC???? Can anyone explain this?

Hell yeah, the Wolfman/Perez Titans are almost fully represented now. All we need is a Wondergirl and Kid Flash. Yeah yeah, Troia is essentially Wonder Girl, (come to think of it, I should just repaint my R version of Troia) but the Flash we have doesn't have the Titans ability on his R version. I can't wait to see Cyborg.
And I agree with most people here, I think she should be a flyer. I think the sculptor sure thought she was!!

Also, I think the PC is some interpretation of her empathic abilities. She should not have Mind Control, since I can't recall her ever taking someone's mind over. However, she was an empath, and could feel the emotions of friends and foes. She could heal people, thus her support is very justified, and she could sense emotions from her opponents, thereby giving the Titans an edge in combat. Is that PC? Well, the only person who really should have PC is Scarlet Witch, but hey, I'm not complaining.
I still think she should be a flyer, at least to represent the flight of her soul-self.

Yep, we definitely need Donna and Wally to round out the team. With Barrier even the rookie Troia isn't the Wonder Girl Donna. I still want a short-pants Robin too.

I'm a little bummed about PC showing up in DC. I knew it would come eventually (I was surprised Zatana didn't have it on one of her versions; I figured Dr. Fate would be the one who had it in this set), but I liked the finality of rolls in DC games. It made it seem more "pure" to me, kinda like NL baseball. Oh well, I'll get over it, especially since R Raven is 50 points, not a cheap 20 points for the obligatory free-moving, Super Senses, PCing blind chick Destiny you see on every Marvel and mixed team (and her fraternal twin, the 27-point Black Panther)...

I must be alone here, but i like my suppor figures to have one use, and thus be cheaper so i can have more figures. EX Black Panther rookie has outwit, but he has free move, so he doesn't waste any ac tions, he's perfect for a support piece, destiny has free move and have pc, plus since she has such a low defense she has super senses which rocks and works for her character so you can keep getting your re rolls without her dying. The paramedic heals, why the hell would i want her to incapacitate or something?
Raven's scult does look awesome though,

I like Raven and am very glad we have her. In my opinion we now have the Classic Titans. We have a Wally Flash (so he doesn't have a T - Its fair since Jay doesn't have an S and an A).
Her not flying probably best represents the fact that she doesn't have "Combat flight."
On the sculpt I like the color and the pose and the cape, but I was hoping her face would have been more veiled and shadowed. Perhaps flatter, more recessed behind the cowl, and dark, dark grey from the nose up.
Still altogether very happy.

I totally understand your POV from a utilitarian standpoint, but the problem shows up when a 1-trick pony is so much cheaper than all other options that it ends up on every single team. Boring, but if you don't go with the crowd, you give up an advantage. Eventually it could get to the point where HeroClix is basically chess, but each team has different bishops, queens, and kings...

That's an excellent point, i never really thought about that because I usually play 500+ usually 2000 point games though, so the teams are so diverse because tehre's so many guys.
Your right though GroovyBoy, in 300 pointers it woudl definately get to the point where ot's basically the same team against each other.

I can say one thing about DC .....from all the sets i have seen, they dont let you down with how GOOD these figs look,...........Not like the plane crash Marvel put out which dissapointed me.....but i guess i will still be a marvel fan.

I was thinking about having my venue going to a few 400 point games, but that was more in an effort to get the higher-powered figures in some games. It would be interesting to see if it also resulted in more overall diversity (as a teacher, I'm always preaching about diversity).
Some judges were also talking about "bruiser" events: 400- or 500-point affairs where each character must be at least 75 points. Raven would work very well in these as the high-priced healer...

Unleashed looks much better than Critical Mass to me. But let's not exaggerate, after all:
A) Hypertime was not overly wonderful.
B) Clobberin' Time and Xplosion were both very nice.
C) Raven is by far the lamest figure we've seen from this set so I hardly see her as evidence of great DC figs. Her pose is awful...

You know, I hear a lot of complaint about the expensiveness vs. other medics.
I would much rather see a real character than any more generics pretty much.
I just don't like generic medics. I play with them because it's about the only way to play the game and have a chance of winning, but I still don't like them.

IceHot said: Her not flying probably best represents the fact that she doesn't have "Combat flight."
However, flight is the only way to allow a teleporter to teleport other characters - which is very consistent with Raven. Her having a flight base would be the same logic for giving Kitty Pryde a flight base. She doesn't really fly, but she does phase and transport folks all the time.
Ah, but while Kitty Pryde doesn't fly in the Superman, Storm, Starfire sense of the word, she can move around in mid air by walking on air molecules, can't she? Assuming I remember correctly...
Question? What's Raven's story? I'd never even heard of her until she showed up in the Teen Titans cartoon. Her costume and powers motif also remind me a lot of the JLA reserve member, Obsidian(?), the one that got into a fight with Kyle Rainer in his apartment over Jade. Are they supposed to be related?
Can somebody explain to me why this character merits PC?

I love Raven, I think she's going to be an awesome character for DC Heroclix, but the pose...
I'm going to call her "Daniel-Son" in a Mister Miagii accent from now; she just reminds me too much of that last fight scene in the Karate Kid (ala Crane Kick).

No. Nobody can. :) She doesn't deserve it, but DC needs it... and her powers are sort of vague (but not *that* vague).

Someone else already posted it. Plus, you could go check out the latest issue of Titans, in which Starfire summarizes Raven's history for all the newbie Titans like Superboy and Impulse.
Short version: daughter of a four-eyed demon (Trigon), she was taught to control her emotions, lest Trigon's nature take over her... which it eventually did. But she died and became nice again (but still mostly dead). And now, in recent issues, she's mostly alive.

Beautiful, masterful and very smart looking piece...and my favorite character of the Perez/Wolfman run of Titans.
The powers look right on. No, no TK for the cartoon, silly proposal. Probability control makes sense for her powers. That plus healing and her soul self are accounted for. I'm hoping for a deep dial for the cost of Raven. So, unlike your cheap medics and Black Cats and Black Panthers, she has multiple uses and lives long enough to talk about it. For clix, you usually get what you pay for and if Raven has a deep dial I would easily play her.
With all of that good stuff out of the way, I do need to make a few comments. Not exactly bad, but I noticed the long boots, short slip dress and short hood. These are minor details and it does look like a nice sculpt, but does anyone know of Raven when she looked like this?
Titans reads know she had the high heels (good to poke out a villains eye  ) and longer dress and a more concealing hood. I guess it might be the new look for Teen Titans #8, which I haven't seen yet. But thanks WK and DC!! Like many have said, you do not disappoint.

Good job Wizkids:p

I'm a little vague on the whole flying thing because it's been so long since I've read TT. I would need a bit of a refresher on Raven if I wanted to nit-pick, but I don't. It does seem to represent her somewhat ambiguous powers from the comics. Looks like a good figure with lots of useful abilities.
I do wish they had incorparated the shading from her cowl on her face too. That's the only thing that bugs me in any way right now. Maybe at least one of her versions will be like Ex Livewire and I'll pull 6 out of every 10 boosters! That way I won't feel bad about painting one of these guys up a little.
Looks to be a good set so far! Can't wait to see all the figs and sculpts. DC keeps getting better with each expansion!
Please...MORE JSA and LEGION!
Eh, I do want to point out one thing about current Teen Titans available.
The Flash we do have (the REV) isn't Wally West. It's Barry Allen. Three reasons for me to say this - One, the outwit. Wally has never been a smart Flash, at least at the beginning of an encounter. Barry, on the other hand, was a foresic scientist.
Two, the speed. He's slower than the Jay Garrick Flash. It's established that Wally is the fastest Flash.
Three, the rookie isn't a Titan, he's unaffiliated. As a rookie, Wally was Kid Flash. As a rookie, Barry was just the Flash.
So yeah, they still have a chance to make the Wally West Flash with a rookie Kid Flash running for the Titans.

If the REV flash were Barry, he would have a lot more outwit, a deeper dial and do more than one click of damage. :p
I think Raven looks great, but she should have some willpower up front.
Cool fig. I hope she has a deep dial of healing. As of now any healers really loose it after 2 clicks. It would be soooo Cool if one of the uniques was raven when she goes all evil.

That would be the theory that makes the most sense. Unfortunately, WK stated early on that the HT Flash WAS Wally. It's so counterintuitive with everything in the comics, but what can you do? Maybe they'll change their mind and take it back (I interviewed Jon L. for HCRealms a long time ago and he said there was no point to making a Galactus clix). Sure, R Flash wasn't TT, but U Flash isn't JSA...

About the PC thing: I always thought that Probablity Control represented a figures ability to have an effect on the entire aspect of battle. So while psychics (like Destiny)and people who actively control probability (like Black Cat) should definitely have it, anyone with any mystical/magical ability could justifiably have it for a click or two.
Of course, that's just my opinion. :)

Okay "AT FIRST GLANCE" that LE Black Adam got majorely screwed in the dirt shoot, he is horrible. GL and Supergirl are amazing and finally some decent cops. Jizz for Shazam and V Red Rocket looks real #### good for sealed events with 3 damage FB and a deep dial. Oh well Im looking forward to the rest of the previews.
Peace Im outta here...

One last thing for the HT Flash. Yes, he's Wally, just look at the belt: it's got the Wally design. And for those who say he's Barry, because he's slower than Jay, know that Barry too was in his own time the fastest man alive, faster than his earth 2 counterpart. In fact, making a Jay Garrick unique with 20 speed and HSS (and without the JSA TA...) didn't make much sense. If you remove him, the HT Flash becomes much more accurate. And for the no Teen Titans team ability, well it's been discussed many times, but the reason is Wally had left the Titans when he became the Falsh, and he never re-joined them after (excepting the short period when he was both in the JLA and the Titans, in the beginning of the -poor- Grayson era).
For the new figs, well, I don't think Balck Adam is as ####py as many say (low attack, but a rather low cost too). Kara is good, but you'd better not push her. Hal is interesting, but glass jawed for the points. With the high attack figs often played even in DC only (Hawk, GA), you'd better play him with caution.
