View Full Version : Impulse in Unleashed???
The GOAT

After scanning all the romured lists of figures for Unleashed, I saw an empty slot on almost everyone's list. Could this spot be filled by Impluse/Kid Flash III (technically should be Kid Flash II, but was given to the character in Kingdom Come). I find it hard to believe that Jesse Quick will be made before Impulse, but in the same set seems reasonable. I would forsee R: Impulse E: Impulse V: Kid Flash III. They could give the V the Titans team ability, since they screwed the Titans out of R Flash, who was a Titan even after taking on the mantle of The Flash. Anyway, I could see Bart Allen going from some power combo very similar to Wally's with Hypersonic and Super Senses, then moving into Flurry and Energy Deflection at the end of his dial. I can't see them giving Bart a higher movement than Wally, as that would break the DC idea of Wally being the Fastest Man Alive, which is unfortunate because they did Wally an injustice. So I think in his Vet Bart would look something akin to 10(HS)/9/16(SS)/1. Whadya all think?

HISTORY
The daughter of Golden Age heroes Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, Jesse has always had a healthy respect for the mystery men and women of the World War Two era. Despite a difficult upbringing, in which she felt herself to be pulled apart by the relationship problems and eventual divorce of her parents, Jesse became a strong, moral young woman with a keen desire to do well in the world. As a graduate, she researched the history of the mystery men she so admired, with particular reference to the many generations of super-speedsters, and was delighted when the Justice Society returned from the mythical limbo in which they had been battling to prevent the coming of Ragnarok.
Using powers inherited from both her mother and father, Jesse began a super-heroic career of her own, at first alongside the newly returned Justice Society and a corporate-sponsored group, the Conglomerate, but later either alone or alongside various other super-speedsters including two generations of the Flash, her father and the young Impulse. The first time she operated alongside this ‘Flash family’, she was named by Wally West (the current Flash) as his successor. For a time, she was delighted by this, but soon learned this was a ploy to try and shock Impulse into some sort of responsible action. Angered by this, relationships between herself and the Flash were tense for some time until he proved his trust in her by battling alongside her against Savitar. At the culmination of this battle, her father was absorbed into the ‘Speed Force’, a sentient energy field which grants the speedsters their powers.
Obviously saddened by her father’s death, Jesse was determined to continue in his memory, despite strong opposition from her mother who was more affected by the tragedy than she would admit. Jesse inherited her father’s job as the head of Quick-Start Enterprises and has been balancing life as a business-woman and as a super-hero ever since. From time to time, she has demonstrated a workaholic tendencies - to the extent that her appointments diary once took over her life so much that it caused her to lose her speed.
When Wally West was temporarily unavailable, Jesse briefly took his place in the Justice League and later, in another move to show that he believes in her, the Flash nominated Jesse for membership in the latest group of Titans, an offer which she somewhat reluctantly accepted. The Titans have taught her how to relax (to the extent where she allowed Argent to move in with her for a while), but she inevitably bonded most closely with the group’s workaholic leader, Nightwing. When he was unavailable due to a crisis in Gotham City, she demonstrated her strong leadership skills in a case involving the speed-drug Velocity-10. Her life began to be more grounded and stable, but her mother then announced her engagement to a much younger man, Philip Geyer, a man who Jesse began an affair with (a very out-of-character decision on her part). This affair was a great shock to her Titans team-mates when it became more general knowledge following Philip's murder. After this, Jesse thre herself ever more whole-heartedly into her business career, putting her friendships on the back burner and spending less time with the Titans, although she was present with them for the disastrous encounter with Indigo which brought about the break-up of the team.
Recently, when Zoom attacked the Flash's wife, Linda, causing her unborn twins to miscarry, Jesse realised how her over-dedication to her business career was affecting those around her. When Flash needed to confront Zoom following the attack, Jesse jump-started him with her speed formula, all of her speed passing into him and leaving her powerless. In the wake of this, she has accepted a position as the business manager of the JSA, where she has friends to support her and help her re-build her life after going, as both she and they see it, off the rails. Whether her speed powers will return is unclear.
POWERS AND WEAPONS
As well as her keen intellect and dedicated study of the methods and skills of super-speed heroes down the ages, Jesse possessed a number of advantages not enjoyed by the other super-fast heroes she associates with. From her father, she has inherited the ability to fly whilst using her speed, and from her mother, she has inherited vastly increased strength and an iron determination to get the job done. She proved to be a capable leader in her time with the Titans, and it is quite clear that her brain is as formidable as her powers were.

So that's Jessie Quick. I remember her from Young Justice/Teen Titans: Graduation Day.
Great, a cool character, but now powerless. Bet WK didn't see that one coming........

Of course, as I'm sure you know Jaythor, Jesse Quick's loss of powers simply means a hiatus of her career as a superhero. We've seen patterns like this before. In a few years, when the story is right, she'll be accessing the speed force once again
Any thoughts on what Jesse Quick's team affiliation will be? Titans? JSA? JLA?

i think she would have titans on one version. i think you could make an argument for JSA, since she is now the currator of the JSA museum, although she's not really a part of the team.
Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. Is the currator connection enough to get her the JSA nod, or would her rookie version have the JSA team ability given her brief association with the newly returned Justice Society as set out in the bio in Cigam Retah's post.

I think that that fig looks a lot like Flash IV from Kingdom Come.
I'm not a huge flash expert though.
Just my 2 cents.

So basically it's just further proof that ever since Geoff Johns got his hands on poor Bart, the kids been reamed left and right?
Ah well. Time to mod a Quicksilver and slap it on Jessy's LE/Unique Base (if she gets one, that is), or a rookie Flash base.

That's not true about Johns, he's just roughed Bart up a bit. If you've been reading the new Teen Titans, you've probably seen how much Bart has changed lately, especially after reading an entire public library in about 20 minutes.
Robin: Impulse?
Bart: No.... Kid flash!

Eh, they made Hawk and Dove, and those two were dead when Hypertime came out. Hawk still is, I belive. And I still swear up and down that REV Flash is Barry Allen.
There is one detail missing from the history (I am quite the Flash expert... he is my second fav character, guess who my first is.)
when the battle with Savitar happens everybody except for Flash is temporarily stripped of their speed. During this time Impulse's cousin from the 30th century (XS a Legion member) was visiting and let Jesse have her flight ring. And XS soon left without it. Many times after I noticed Jesse using her flight without running first... she just flew. I assume she still is carrying the ring.
Anyway for her TA I would assume she would have none at RK but Titans at Ex. and Vet. (remember people this Outsiders/Teentitans thing just happened... it's been less than a year so don't expect that, it would be like expecting Juggernaut to have been released with his Vet version as an X-men ally. Which he now is.
Impulse should be Impulse through out. Calling him Kid Flash as a Vet will cause Confusion with the true (wally west) Kid Flash whenever he is made. Did you notice that the Batgirl we currently had is a Unique? That was so there wouldn't be any confusion when they made Barbara as B-girl. I would assume that any Bart Kid Flash would be a Unique.
