I've also just finished the survey. Interesting questions indeed!
Interesting questions...... Thank you to WizKids for even asking for our feedback.
Likewise.
Come OOOONNN, Galactus!;)
Nice to actually see them ask us for a change.
Some really interesting questions.

I'll second that! I can actually say that I feel like my input, while minute, could actually make a difference! Great job, WizKids!

at the end they should have left some space for some feedback that wasn't "chosen" by their questioning...
although the questions were very good...

Maybe they are realizing where they erred. Winning Galactus would be nice, but I really hope they decide to make it available at our local venues where everyone can have a chance at getting him.
hmm, what does it mean by "recent online redemptions"? Did I miss something?

I think they meant the player rewards they've been offering...
at least that's what I thought it was...
Maybe it's for another game?
Darn, I have no idea how many HC tournaments I've won in the last 6 months, guess I'll just have to take a wild guess for the survey...
I finished, come on wizkids, send me Galactus.

I think it was for MW or MK. It didn't really apply to Heroclix players.
(And more important than Galactus was the questions and the answers that WK gets from this.)
Eh, you could be right, GonzoDracus....in which case I wish I'd voted lower. I don't care for how they're doing it :-p

I hope thisy take note of the answers, both positive and negative. It is nice to see that maybe, just maybe, they really want the opinons from the players.

Yes VERRRY intriguing questions.
WK certainly SEEMS to be listening.
Well at least now I'm officially counted:
======
* I'll be spending equal or less on WK product this year
* I'm opposed to the cost fiasco that LEs and chase figs have become
* I no longer attend tourneys, and Restricted format will not get be back
* I prefer them to develop interesting new game dynamics rather than banning or errata certain figs or power combinations.
* I will only be buying singles and/or complete sets through trades or Internet purchases. Case purchase is okay but buy-by-the-booster costs too much.
* I love both Marvel and DC
* I'm a gamer, collector and fan of these cool little plastic superheroes!
how will we find out if we won Big G?
How is not my question, mine is when...I think they'll e-mail you and tell you if you won.

*"Chase" figs help keep me interested in the game
* Powerful playing pieces are the reasons I collect the pieces
* Couldn't care less about comic continuity
* Bought more from Indy than any other set and I still have to choose between Marvel and DC
* Voted to errata figs. Errata never hurt the other games I played...it was just annoying.

Didn't you see the part of the Wizkids website that officially and for all time absolved certain Heroclix and Mechwarrior players and designers of their sins, both mortal and venial?
I heartily approve of these online redemptions and hope to see more.

I took the online redemption offers as something for another game - so I voted I didn't like them ;)
Interesting survey -

02/28/2004, 01:01
ohh, and I voted for banning certain figures, and that was surprising even to me that I did, but as I was thinking over the question, I thought to myself how many rule changes and policies have been written to deal with a handful of problem pieces that should just be banned - save everybody a lot of trouble.
Thorgrin
02/28/2004, 01:06
I'm glad they asked for some kind of input on this, though someone had the same thought (and posted it already). Basically a feedback area for general comments on the end.
As far as the redemption stuff goes, I was assuming it meant any mail-away figures which I like.
Hopefully they'll get numbers out of this and if the numbers say that retirement of figures is good, then I'll live by it.
I am glad that they are asking people what they like and dislike, with the information they get from these questions they will be able to determine better ways to improve the game.
Hopefully Galactus will be won by someone from a different country, since they are not able to go to the conventions.
Salutations All,
I hope the release the results of the survey so that we can all see what the players voted for.
My preference is for large sets every six months. That sounds good to me - less duplicates in a case.
I noticed that INDY Clix barly got a mention in the survey! Also no questions about if you mixed universe or played pure games.
Marlow
Thanks for the survey. It's nice t give some feedback.
Also, I wonder how they decide when a "strategy is overplayed or used too much" in regards to changing rules/figs.
Banning or changing figures and rules based on limited feedback is awful. That's how the taxi and action after taxi rules changed.
A vocal minority turned their playing preferences into HC Law.

Awesome.. this is exactly what Wizkids should have been doing all along. Maybe now they will listen to the actual people who buy their products.
If anything, it at least makes us feel that they are listening.
Kudos Wizkids!

That was a good move on Wizkids part...Thanks
did the survey and it was heartening to see that someone on that end was listening to the players.
But won't it be interesting to see what they do on questions like the one concerning errata, rules redesign, faq and such....some groups gonna get left out.
I didn't see any real questions about making the game more team friendly though. All these TAs and most largely used in a wild card TA chain. I wanna play a straight up team out of the comics
but KUDOS to WizKids nonetheless

Chase figures (I'm not sure on the technical definition) as I believe it are figures that would be in every case. For example, Mechwarrior just came out with a "limited edition" called the Bounty Hunter that was guaranteed (I think) in each case of Mechwarrior, thus you actually got 9 uniques in a case than the usual 8 figures. I believe the Bat Sentry will also be a chase figure and at least 1 per case guaranteed.

Have to say I was surprised to see it. I will have to take it when I get home!
hrm .. from the post i understood that you could only have 1 entry to win either the galactus or one of those others..
so can you only have a chance at one of them ?
or can you answer all the questions and have one chance to win in all 4 of those ?

Very interesting questions. Here's hoping that A) they listen to the feedback, and B) the post the results for all to see.
I'm already getting a Galactus, so I don't care if I win one here or not. But it sure would be nice.....

My understanding of "chase" figures is that they're just popular figures that are hard to get, so people chase after them. Nightcrawler, for example.
Psylockeslover
02/28/2004, 12:36
Chase figures are figures that are purposly rarer than normal pieces.
A while back, WK made special figs for MK that appeared about one for every pallet. I can't remember the actual number, but there are several cases in each pallet. There were 4 different figs, and each one was going for Thousands on Ebay at one point. Perhaps a MK player can help fill in some of the details.....
The Bat Sentry fig is a Unique, and you have the same chance of pulling it as you do with any other specific UniqAnd you think getting a Nightcrawler is tough....

OK, that last bit got a little garbled because I hit the wrong button, and I can't edit here. What it should say is:
The Bat Sentry fig is a Unique, and you have the same chance of pulling it as you do with any other specific Unique in Unleashed. (a slightly lower chance of pulling a specific Unique in other sets since there are 13 Uniques instead of 12)
And you think getting a Nightcrawler is tough....

Given how much I whined in my responses, I probably disqualified myself from winning (impartial my eye), but hey, I had to tell them I was only buying singles from now on until we have local gaming going on. I may as well burn my money (illegal though that is).

what did everyone say about the timing of expansions?
I think that a larger set is cooler every six months because o fmy wallet being on Life support.....flatline!!!...clear!!!
I love the sevey four months option but this way is more practical.

I visited the WK site and looked at MK. They had a promo where you can buy a starter with some new rules they made and you get a booster of LEs along with it. Some kind of internet one-time only offer. I think that's the redemption program they were talking about.
Sounds good!
Might be nice for HC.

My only concern was the DC vs. Marvel section. I hope they're not considering giving DC the heave ho or something.

02/28/2004, 17:35
I'm not sure if the Marvel vs DC questions were really that necessary. They should have a pretty good idea from their sales numbers. The answers people give should only corroborate the sales figures.

I have finish the survey and i was glad to have made it all the way to the end and the pop me this question in the midle
"You have reach a point in were you can go ahead and try to win a galactus or stop here" You all know that i click "go ahead and bring them on!!"
Well i hope i can win that Galactus figure or i would be happy just to win one of the prize.
Peace

LOL very true.
A friend of mine did not like the survey. He wanted an opportunity to explain exactly why he hasn't bought any HC, MW or MK in months.

02/28/2004, 23:27
Yeah. That's the thing with surveys. You sometimes wish they were private interviews instead.
I did not participate in the recent chat, but I read the transcript with interest. So what should I answer to that question?
Can I elaborate on the reasons why I don't often participate in tournaments?
Let's hope that many people repsond to the survey so that WK can use the results and, combining them with feedback from envoys, venues, judges and players, are then able to discern trends and patterns.
The best way for a company to succeed is to accurately identify their market, understand their customers' needs and then respond appropriately.
I think this is a step in the right direction.
Cheers!

Indeed, I wish there had been an option to describe why it is I don't attend tournaments. I hardly think it's wise to lump those that actively choose not to compete with those who can't for logistical reasons.
My proximity (or lack thereof) to the summer cons leaves me out of the running for a Galactus, but at least I've got a shot here. Regardless of whether it's just another drop in the bucket; it's always nice to have the chance to contribute your thoughts.

I find it interesting that the survey comes after the banning news and after the chat about the banning news. Someone in marketing needs to figure this stuff out.
This survey should have come first so the players could feel they had some input into the tournament changes and are not just listening to changes pronounced from on high.
SpakSpang
03/01/2004, 13:22
Angry Salad: Why not do what I did on the survey. I chose other and then listed my reason not to compete.
I have two: Not having enough clixs to make a tournament worth team...and I don't want to waste my time and lose.
2nd: Not enough time usually for me to spend playing clix at a venue.
I just finished, and, frankly, I don't care whether or not I win Galactus. If I do, I'm still going to spend $100 at their booth in Philly to get the LEs. I do like them at least pretending to listen to us though. I say pretend just because our comments may or may not actually affect anything. Good job to them, though for giving us a say!
Finished.
I wonder if they really will give out a prize and if it really be randomly chosen if they do.

I'm really curious if they will announce the results of the survey after it's over.
Especially the part where they ask how you think wizkids should "handle" the overused strategies and peices of Heroclix.
For those of you that remember Overpower, their answer to this was to put out new sets and game factors that "countered" the overused stategies. And we all know what happened to Overpower after that. :(

It amazes me how many people have actually mentioned the Galactus in commenting on this thread.

It depends how the Bat Sentry is done. Like Thorgrin said, MW had a piece recently that was distributed 1 per case. So there were 9 Uniques per case instead of the usual 8 (with that special piece always appearing as 1 of them). It has been hinted that the Bat Sentry might be done the same way.
What this meant was that the limited piece was actually more common than other Uniques (assuming even distribution of Uniques) because you had an 8 in 12 chance of getting your wanted Unique in any case, but you were guaranteed the special unique for every case.
So in 12 cases, there would be 12 of the special unique, but only 8 of each of the other uniques.

Ya but sales figures would be misleading. Of course Marvel is outselling DC, considering there is what 3 marvel sets for every 1 DC set and a Marvel set comes out every 2 or 3 months and it's 6 or 7 months between DC sets. And wasn't Cosmic Justice a small set to boot? So there's a LOT more Marvel figures out there, and more different sets which means people are gonna buy Marvel more often than DC simply because there's less chance at duplicates. And to make thigns worse they have aleasys hyped Marvel more, both in terms of special figures, but in the amount of time they mention them on the site. Look how much pre-hype Critical Mass got, with nary a mention of Dc during that time. Then just when Unleashed is set to come out, suddenly Marvel has a new set (Universe) so they talk about that to take away the spotlight from DC. Then as UNleashed is getting nearer to comming out, they announce the next Marvel set further taking away the spotlight from DC. Then there's Galactus...
Perhaps they are putting the feelers out, trying to figure out if they should start upping the rate the DC sets come out if they find that a lot of people on the survey say that the DC set interests them the most.

Yeah, my attempt "froze-up" too. I was 10 minutes into it and clicked on NEXT to go to the next question and got locked on a big, white screen with the words PARSE ERROR, followed by a lot of computer gobbledygook I didn't understand. Oh well.
Everyone make sure they mention that they will buy less Wizkids this year because of their decision on Crimson Skies/Shadowrun:Duels. That'll show 'em:grin:
