Foundation Gaming Convention is back again on March 5th-7th, 2004 at the Okemos, Michigan Holiday Inn Express Conference Center. There will be gaming events of all types all weekend long, and 24-hour open gaming starting Friday at noon through Sunday evening at 7pm, along with a large dealer room, auction, and other special events. Details on other card, miniature, board, roleplaying, and video game events can be found at www.foundation-games.com .
Here is a schedule of Heroclix events for the weekend, along with a list of prizes that will be given out at each event:
Friday, March 5th, 7pm: Scenario "Created Equal", Cost: $5, Judge: Michael Macias
Description: Team Requirements: 400 points, One male figure and all others must be female (Questions about gender will be decided by the judge at the event), Only one LE or Unique on the field, No named duplicates allowed. Rules: Male is worth double points if KO'd and the game ends immediately with the KO'er as the winner. No range combat may be used against the male, only close combat. Prizes include "Bobby Drake" LE for first place, and 8 unique figures for 2nd-9th places (Darkseid, Desaad, Catwoman, Joker, Professor Xavier, Juggernaut, Wolverine, Nightmare). This event is sponsored by Major League: Each player will receive a $1 gift certificate to the Major League booth, good towards any purchase.
Saturday, March 6th, 11am, Battle Royale Tournament, Cost: $7 (includes booster pack), Judge: Charlie Cook
Description: Eight players divide randomly into two groups of four. Each player opens their booster, takes one figure, and passes the rest. This is done until everyone has a team of four (there is no point limit). The highest dice roll goes first; you cannot choose to go last or defer it to someone else. Working with the person next to you, each team of 2 tries to win and make it to the next round. This is done by eliminating ONE of their opponents completely. This means wiping out one person's entire army. Once that is done, the team of 2 moves on to the next round. Any figures lost in the battle remain lost, any figures that are damaged remain damaged. There is no clicking up to full health. In round 2, the 2 winning teams battle it out again. When one person is completely eliminated, it turns into a three-for-all, where it's everyone against everyone, until only one person remains standing.
The time limit for each round is 45 minutes. If the game is still going on when the buzzer goes off, sudden death rules begin. Sudden death rules: at the beginning of each turn, every figure takes a click of damage. In the event of a tie (everyone dies at the same time because of sudden death rules) the players will roll two dice, the highest roll winning the game. So kill things fast!!! To speed the game up, "Barrier Rules" are in effect. At the end of turn three (when everybody has had three turns), a barrier begins around the board (put a barrier token at each corner). At the beginning of every turn, the barrier moves toward the center (in a diagonal direction). Anyone caught in the barrier at the beginning of the round take one click of damage, or if they pass through the barrier during their turn (or forced through the barrier by an opponent), take one click of damage. You only take one click of barrier damage per round. Prizes for this event include "Arthur Curry" LE for first place, and 8 unique figures for 2nd-9th places (Darkseid, Desaad, Catwoman, Joker, Professor Xavier, Juggernaut, Wolverine, Nightmare).
Saturday, March 6th, 1pm, Scenario "There And Back Again: A Moloid's Tale", Cost: $5, Judge: Michael Macias
Description: Special Scenario Rules: Team should be 300 points with no figure over 80 points and no uniques or LEs will be allowed. Each team will have one moloid (use your own or the judge will provide you with one). Each moloid will have a defense of 20 and super senses. The moloid will be able to move each turn without taking push damage. The rest of your "fellowship" may have only one character representing each team ability (only one avenger, one x-man, one skrull, etc.) but you may have up to three non-affiliated team members. The goal is to move your moloid from your starting point to your opponent's starting point, pick up a token, and move back to your starting point. If you complete this task you gain 500 points and the game is immediately over. All maps will be indoor maps. The winner will be based on Wins with points used as the tie breaker. Prizes include "Natasha Romanoff" LE for first place, and 8 unique figures for 2nd-9th places (Darkseid, Desaad, Catwoman, Joker, Professor Xavier, Juggernaut, Wolverine, Nightmare). This event is sponsored by Clem's Collectibles: Each player will receive a $1 gift certificate to the Clem's Collectibles booth, good towards any purchase.
Saturday, March 6th, 5pm, Battle Royale Tournament, Cost: $7 (includes booster pack), Judge: Charlie Cook
Description: See above for description.
Prizes include "Ted Kord" LE for first place, and 8 unique figures for 2nd-9th places (Darkseid, Desaad, Catwoman, Joker, Professor Xavier, Juggernaut, Wolverine, Nightmare).
