Painting Help!!!

i am not a very good painter, and i have been trying to make mods of my fav heros that are not in clix yet (obviously), but they never turn out very good. They always looks sloppy and just bad. I have been painting for a month and really need some help. i will put pics of my baddness up soon

Helpful hints from your Uncle Sabotage (who has no clue what you are painting): Wash your figs in soapy water before you paint. Use only acrylic paints. Get some good brushes. Lemme rephrase that last one: get some GOOD brushes! Start out small and simple, like a simple touch up paint job on some figs you pulled with sloppy painting. When ya master the basics you can move on to dry-brushing and washes. Spraying your figs with clear gloss poly will protect them, but they will look kinda silly. Clear gloss poly protects, dull poly doesnt, but it looks good. Solution? 2 Coats of gloss under the coat of dull. Click my homepage link and look at E Hulk for a simple repaint. Thats about all he got except a wash and poly. Oh...yeah..I did strip the paint off him first. It seems to actually come off the IC figs but not the newer ones :cross-eye

dry-brushing and washes??? Sabotage, can you explain how do that, I try some times lear but I cant do any yet. Explain how do that please.
