I made these little buggers just before I started on the Falsworths for Syzyx's contest. Just photoed them tonight, and man, you can't make out any of the hours and hours worth of detailing. :( I lit it like a bonfire, chose a neutral background and still got some realitively poopy pictures. I tink it's time to get a real camera if I want to show off my new bursh tricks. Thoughts?

The mods look cool. Do you have clear gloss on them? I been struggling with that as far as pictures go. I ususally gloss them and then dull-cote but seem to have wandered away from my own good idea...

No cover coat at all, that's just "raw" acrylic paint ATM. I might have figured out how to fix it, I'll post more after I see the latest batch of pics. I usually dullcoat once the weather gets nice enough to not frost the final mini.

Actually, i think the pictures are still better than most of the pictures on this board. If you really want a new camera, don't let me stop you, though.

Your pics are fantastic. I believe there's no way to really capture a three dimensional object in 2d. If you ever see an actual Van Gogh painting in person, you'll know what I mean.

Unless you have money to burn (in which case, call me), then forget the new camera.

I think they look pretty darn spiffy. Not familiar with those Champions characters. Are these from the newer version of the game not the Hero System version?

I think that unless you plan on buying a super high end camera, thata about as good as you're gonna get. I think they look fine.

Did you use a flash? I get my best results by shining a light on the figure AND using a flash.

I got better pics!! :) I used the advice of filtering it through photoshop for better light levels and you can see them a lot better now I think. Same address, let me know what you think!

And I forgot to answer questions...

Everyone: Thanks for all the praise, they turned out pretty spiffy IMHO. :)

Thalstrak: These are the Champions from Champions/Hero 5th Edition, the new one. It's back to being Hero System and no longer Interlock. Steve Long (The god of gaming IMNSHO) is the new owner of Hero and he consistently churns amazing product of high page count at staggeringly low prices. I'm trying to buy literally everything he published because honestly, with all the good stuff he's done at Hero Games, I won;t need another gaming system ever.

Chalga: I should try the flash idea. This time I just lit the bejeezus out it and then altered the light levels in photoshop.

Carlos: Dude, I've seen your mods, why do you need lessons? Your mods rock! As to the depth of color, I learned a LOT from this website: http://hot-lead.org/gallery/gallery.htm This guy is simply staggeringly good. After that it's just practice, practice.
