View Full Version : JLA Questions
Hi, I have a few questions about the JLA and I was hoping someone here could answer them.
1. What is the current roster of the JLA? (plus any major changes you know about to the roster in future issues.)
2. What is the roster of inactive members, like if the JLA where in trouble what former members would help? (Formerly Known as JLA is already involved.)
3. What is the name of a villain (and powers) that would take question 1 to defeat but, could do it in one comic. (need Watchtower cleared.)
4. What JLA member would you like to see get killed sacrificing themselves in battle? This cannot be answered with the members Batman, Wonder Woman, and unfortunately Superman.
I am asking these questions because I am going to try and write at least a 5-comic "Return of Doomsday" storyline and submit it to DC to see if it will get printed. If not I will just post it here to see what you guys and gals think. I would like it to go into the regular universe but, I will take Elseworlds and just kill Superman and another member.

Anyone who has been a member and is not an inactive member is an inactive member. Practically every superhero in the DC universe, see JLA #23

Amazo, powers of the JLA. Dr. Destiny, dream powers.

Good Luck, Doomsday has come back several times. As of the Last Laugh miniseries he is intelligent but not as brutally savage. For more info read Justice League of America (2nd series) #69 when Doomsday tangled with the JLA before he went on to kill Supes.
sorry had double posts.
Well, waaagh1 pretty much got it pegged. But there are a few other great villains that could be used to "clear the tower".
Desparo. Psychic, strength, really powerful. It took the JLA and the JSA to beat him in "Virtue and Vice", back when he was teamed with Johnny Sorrow. If not him, maybe...
Starro. The first nemesis the JLA fought, now much cooler. He's an alien that spawns a million little aliens that latch onto your face and control you. To stop him, they had to get help from Sandman! (The freaking DREAM MASTER!) If not that one, then maybe...
Prometheus. The smartest man alive. He's like an evil Batman. His parents were criminals and were killed by the police, so he sought revenge on all forms of justice. With his amazing technology, he managed to take down (in order) Steel, Martain Manhunter, Zauriel, Huntress, Batman and Green Lantern. If Catwoman hadn't been undercover and whipped him in the groin, they probably wouldn't have been able to stop him. He's super smart, super techno, and pretty cool.
Those are all the ones I got off the top of my head. But yeah, kill off John Stewert. He's boring and annoying.

John is getting to be a better character. Ever since Cosmic Odessey I despised him but ever since the JL cartoon he has gotten better. He has escaped the James Rhodes shadow and become his own character, not just another "replacement" character.
I forgot about Starro, Despero, and Prometheus (who STRONGLY DESERVES a clix).
But you could always right a prelude to your story as the JLA finishes up a previous case, it has been done and is true JLA storytelling. (I'm still waiting for the minature evil JLA story)
Really, there are a BUTTLOAD of cool JLA villains. Shall I rattle them off...?

Actually Steel had (at that point) reversed the virus in his armor & would have beat Prometheus w/ Plastic man's help no doubt... Catwoman just happened to provide a distraction... Still a painful day for Prometheus...
Go Here:
Justice League (http://www.mykey3000.com/cosmicteams/jla/index.html)
Menu Item 2 lists all members (past and present)
Menu Item 6 lists a boat load of villains.
Thanks for all the help and info guys. Thank yuor rouge2 for the website it will definitely come in handy.
Questions one and two are pretty much taken care off, but I would like some more feedback on questions 3 and 4. I don't read DC comics, except for Birds of Prey, so for the villians can you give me a little background. I think the website will help me with this but, just in case. I think I may get rid of John Stewart but, he will go out with a bang.;)
*ahem* "and unfortunately Superman?"
What you saying you'd like to see a DC universe without Superman? Come on it's like asking for a Marvel universe with no Spiderman or no Wolverine.
Superman is to comics what Hulk Hogan was to wrestling what Abe Lincoln is to presidents what Micheal Jordan is to Basketball.
If you say Superman people of any sex, age, race, creed, think of comic books.
If you say name a comic book figure to any random person you would get Superman's name in response probably 90% of the time.
Yeah I'm playing favorites ... look at the sign on name.... so?
You want a good Superman tale? How about the current stuff. Some of the best stuff I've seen in my long time in comics. Just don't knock the character for a few bad writers and one lame cartoon producer.
I've said my peace.
And now I can comment on your post.
You want to make heads roll with Doomsday? He's already killed a GL and a Guardian. (Doomsday: Year One)
You want a story with teeth? If this is an Elseworld's tale how about having him show and the team realizing they can't stop him so they call in villians. I would much rather see Doomsday destroying Darkseid, Despero, Amazo and such as these are figures we never see full on aggression towards as they are the bad guys and they never really have the chance of dying because they are fighting people who don't kill.
Killing off John Stewart would be cake for DD. It should be used as a means to enfury the league. Re-killing Superman would be expected and a little boring. Now making him the only one left in the end. That's good Elseworlds. Oh don't forget that in DC current that Doomsday can speak with his latest incarnation. Real speech... actual intelligence. Still not a genius, but able to string a sentence together. Thought that'd help you since you aren't a huge DC reader.
I liked the idea of Doomsday vs Villains. Amazo could be reprogrammed so that he adapts the powers of Doomsday and then they just become locked in battle for the rest of eternity. oooooooh.
You might want to keep in mnd that DC (and any other comics publisher) as a matter of policy, normally do not accept unsolicited stories. At least that's the way it used to be, but I have no reason to believe that's changed. If I am wrong, though, please feel free to correct me

This is just a personal choice of mine. I have never liked Superman and probably never will like Superman. I don't have any specific reason, I just don't.
As for submitting it I am mainly doing this for myself and if they take it okay if not that is okay too. I am going to submit it once I finish it (awhile from now)and post it on this forum to see what people think.
And what is Doomsday: Year One? I have never heard of this and I love Doomsday so I would really like to read it. Is it contained in the TPB called "The Doomsday Wars?"
I have pretty much got the story in my head I just need to figure out certain plot points and write it all down.
I appreciate everyone's opinion whther it is negative or positive as long as it isn't childish, which no one has done yet so I appreciate that.
