I guess I'll be the cat. But I think my South Park Clan name is funnier than my JSA one.

I thought we already had a Flash, and I did include Starman and Hawkgirl on my post several pages ago.;)

D'oh someone IS the Flash.

Rokk, JayThor is the keeper of the records around here. The list comes from him of former and current members, alas I am trying to catch up on all of my history of JSA, and my level has not reached all knowing as of yet.....

But I have learned much from you Mr. Rokk Krinn, you almost have me getting the Legion added to my hold box. ;)

JayThor he is right, the list is lacking! I will found out who was the Flash. Be right back.

Thank you kindly, SGL. :) Though are you going to throw things at me when I point out Shiera Hall was Hawkgirl and not a Dr. Fate (and that the gestalt/merged Fate was never a JSA member? :) ). And to ease your record keeping - Dan Richards and Paul Kirk were the two Manhunters.

Hey, someone has to keep you new blood JSA'ers on your toes. It's all about the past. :)

JayThor
04/23/2004, 08:16
The Strauss' (the married couple) were never a JSA member. They were JLA. Shiera Saunders was Hawkgirl, and is reincarnated as Kendra, hence, only one slot open for Hawkgirl.

For accuracy sake, there was also a male Firebrand, Danette Reilly's brother. He had no powers, but was just athletic.

Can I switch to Dr.Fate?

JayThor
04/23/2004, 23:29
Why be a dupe, when you have your own identity? Reddy got serious props from Superman and Flash for his time with both their teams and working with the youngsters. I figured we would only use Kent when all the others were filled. It is your choice, though.

DragonFro
04/23/2004, 23:42
I must have been gone for awhile, because I was pretty sure I started the JSA clan a few months ago. I read where jaythor mentioned being part of it early in this post. So where does this leave my JSA clan?

JayThor
04/23/2004, 23:45
MIA I guess. No one ever posted on it, and I couldn't even find it when this one started. Sorry. Nick started it over again, and it has kept rolling. Feel free to pick another great character and jump in!

DragonFro
04/24/2004, 00:03
Well I guess that seems fair. I'll take the role of Kent Nelson as Dr. Fate. Though I feel I've let the JSA down by letting the first clan vanish.... (dramatic pause)
Please forgive me.

JayThor
04/24/2004, 08:57
Think of it as the end of the first team in the 70's and the resurgence in the 90's.

04/24/2004, 21:25
DragonFro: so as Hector Hall, should I come to you for advice on the magic of Nabu?

Yes, you should. Don't ask Nabu, he is not always a nice guy......;)

Hello my fellow clan members! GL here after a rough marque event. Sealed is hard to manage some times, what were your teams? Mine was the following:
EXP Dr. Fate (;) JSA always baby!)
Vet Deadshot
Vet Frost
Vet Uncdercover cop
Exp DEO

I love the Suicide squad clixs and the comic, but against the Vet GL's they had a hard time, but I made it into the final four out of ten players. I handed a Mr. Bones Black Adam team his butt, in a ugly slaughter where he lost everyone and I lost no none. It ended in a great comic book ending:

The last turn I get, Bones has run for four turns now, Fate. Frost and Deadshot are in pursuit. Last turn, on top of the roof, Bones thinks he's safe behind some blocking terrian. Deadshot has a bead on him at blast him for 4 plus knockback off the roof! Dead on splatting! That one was fun. How did you all do?

Sorry Dragonfro about the last clan. Welcome back!

"DOn't break a hip!"

Friday, I had the misfortune of playing against a guy who pulled a KC Superman at a Marquee. Needless to say, he won. I did get second, points-wise. This guy is so lucky, he pulled another Superman on Saturday for the Marquee I judged! He won that one, too.
My team:
E Green Lantern
V Hawkgirl
R HDC
U Nubia
R Deadshot

As a judge, I got Kara Zor-el, but I really wanted a Hal. The Super-lucky guy, who is a friend, traded me the 2nd Hal he got for a Trigon's daughter (LE Raven). Hope the rest of the clan did so well!

supermangl1
04/25/2004, 12:23
I walked away with a Vet Deadshot who I really wanted but didn't pull in a entire case! Oh well! It sure was fun!

NickFury15
04/25/2004, 12:31
I don't even get to go to tournements, let alone marquees. The judge at the comic book store I'd play at lacked the brain power to turn off the lights and lock the door after he left a tournement, and needless to say, he was fired. Obviously, the owner of the store is a little nervous appointing a new judge after what happened (the store could have been robbed blind, thank goodness it wasn't), so we've never had another tourney.

I finally got to read my JSA. Great story. I loved the explanations of faith by Dr. Midnite. I can't wait to see where this story goes. It looks like another great epic building.....

JayThor
04/28/2004, 08:11
Sand was leader in the book, even with Green Lantern, Flash, and Hawkman around. Seeing as the job is pretty low-stress;) , I think you'll do fine.

supermangl1
04/28/2004, 09:25
I second that opinion!

supermangl1
04/28/2004, 16:00
Well my fellow clan members, some of you might have come across my "Goodbye Kyle Raynor...." thread in the DC discussion forum. It seems that Hal Jordan is on his way back into the spotlight. While the details are not clear yet, the current Green Lantern series will end with #181. And "Hal will be back with a ring and in the outfit." Fear that Kyle will not fair well in the upcoming months. What are your thoughts about it? I am very sad about the idea of Kyle losing his series, and have a sense of dread that he won't survive much longer. I hope I'm wrong about it though.....

NickFury15
04/28/2004, 16:30
I just picked up the new Jim Lee Superman, and there is a panel with Kyle having some trouble fighting something.

To tell you the truth, I couldn't be happier about Hal coming back (maybe, we aren't sure!). I don't really like Kyle, but Hal is my favorite comic book character.

JayThor
04/28/2004, 16:41
Alan is actually my favorite ring-slinger, but I grew up with Hal. Kyle stories have been good, better than anything with Stewart or Gardner.
Hal as GL- I am guessing this will have something to do with the storyline currently in JSA?

JayThor
04/28/2004, 16:43
I did like the old Hal stuff.

greg_wolf
04/28/2004, 22:37
it should because johns is doin the green lantern rebirth series in october which is the bringing back of hal. it was said that kyle will play a major role in this though.... i bet kyle will hang around for awhile and probily do the goin into space thing or something i don't know.

JayThor
04/29/2004, 08:01
Kyle will not just be dumped, IMO. I think he will still be around, in some fashion.

Gentlegamer
04/29/2004, 08:51
That would explain why Hal Jordan showed up in the last JSA . . .

supermangl1
04/29/2004, 10:08
I'm trying not to jump to any conclusions, but Kyle doesn't much respect with alot of creators, for instance Alex Ross, who refused to paint Kyle in any story or poster. (he did it once, but said never again). I would love for Kyle to start the corps with Kilowag.

But there is a mini series that Hal comes back in, and it says Kyle plays a major part in the series. As a fan of Kyle, and all Green Lanterns, I fear that he may not make through.....but then again this is comic books he'll be back in a couple of years!

Doom05
05/01/2004, 00:31
I am back. I havn't been on In a while and this has probably already been discussed in other threads but what do you all think about the new Ultimates teams?

supermangl1
05/01/2004, 09:45
Well I think that the team symbols look awful. They could of done that better, imho. But the powers themself are very useful, except for the Morlocks, because it going to be hard to get everyone into positon to get that power to work. The Serpant society is very cool and powerful, so is the Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men. I perfer the Ultimate titles over the regular Marvel universe, so this is good to see. The Ultimates could be very powerful, but like it was said before, the 'anti-stealth' power is not cheap. Could be bad for all Cap A. I hope not though.

JayThor
05/01/2004, 09:47
I don't care for anything Ultimates, for the most part. The Serpent Society is cool, the Morlocks was unnecessary, the Ultimates TA must have a high cost, because it is very powerful. THe X is just a rip of 2000AD. Saving my money for the next DC set.........

supermangl1
05/01/2004, 17:06
I'll buy a some boosters at the Wizard World in Chicago to get the LE Surfer and Invisble Woman, but I'm saving money for the cheap bins and back issues of JSA. But I'll get probablly about 10 boosters.

NickFury15
05/02/2004, 13:13
Well, let's get the ball rolling on the thread again...

What JSA villain do you want to see portrayed as a Hero Clix the most?

I'd love to see a Brainwave Jr.

greg_wolf
05/02/2004, 18:33
i would like to see a prince of darkness dr fate mordru or a obsidian.

Rokk_Krinn
05/02/2004, 20:05
Sportsmaster. Heck, they could even justify it by saying they're trying to crossover to Sportsclix buyers. ;)

NickFury15
05/03/2004, 00:05
Well, luckly, Unleashed gave us one of the JSA's coolest villains, Black Adam. But calling him a villain is kind of like calling Magneto a villain. It's only part true.

Hatut Zeraze
05/03/2004, 00:12
My 1st choice for the next JSA villain for heroclix:

The Fiddler!

2nd choice:

Johnny Sorrow (duh!)

Gentlegamer
05/03/2004, 00:15
Oh, Black Adam is a villain, alright! So is Magneto . . . but they are both the very interesting kind, like Richard III and Macbeth . . .

JayThor
05/03/2004, 08:12
1. Obsidian- a definite need, as AE for Alan Scott

others that need making:
Blackbriar Thorn
Brain Wave Sr. and Jr.

supermangl1
05/03/2004, 08:27
I want Brainwave Jr, just without the Jr. on the dail. To me he showed himself to be the biggest telepath/mentalist in DC, where there is no many like in Marvel. He should have a big attack and like a 10 range, with mind control of course.

After that Obsidan would rock!

supermangl1
05/03/2004, 08:29
YEAH!!!! Over 300 hundred posts!

'balloons drop from ceiling' Yeah!

ok I'm done.

supermangl1
05/03/2004, 08:59
Here is an interesting news tidbit I found on 'newsarama.com'

JSA kicks off the two-part “Waking the Sandman” story in June, bringing Silver Age hero Cave Carson into the mix to find the missing Sand, who’s been trapped underground ever since he literally prevented the earth from pulling itself apart. Artist on the arc is Jerry Ordway.

Let us rejoice!

NickFury15
05/03/2004, 12:17
For Brainwave Jr., I can see a 10 range, triple attack. Give him an 11 or 12 as his attack #'s, and Psy-Blast.

JayThor
05/03/2004, 16:21
That attack would be too high. 10 on the Vet, he is a normal human. IMO.

NickFury15
05/03/2004, 16:33
Professor Xavier got an 11.

Brainwave is basically a Professor Xavier that isn't afraid to use his powers!

JayThor
05/03/2004, 16:59
But with much less experience, due to his age, and often being comatose.

By the way, supermangl1- that sounds like it will be a great storyline.

NickFury15
05/03/2004, 17:18
I don't think we'll have to worry about Brainwaves dial, since we probably aren't ever going to see one. I think we're going to be stuck with 1-2 JSA characters per set (we got lucky with 3 in Unleashed!). Brainwave isn't very high on the demand level (though I really want one)

You can compensate by using an E White Queen, but she's not up to his power level.

And yeah, I'm glad Sand is coming back! Still like Teriffic more, JayThor...

JayThor
05/03/2004, 21:11
I don't know. he will probably get a figure/dial. He has been around for 20 years. I think that should get him a figure. I love the White Queen idea. I just have to come up with a good male figure to use.

THat's ok about Terrific, Sand is still a better leader.:p

supermangl1
05/04/2004, 01:19
I think we might get a Brainwave figure. Probably in a unique form but he should be awesome. In the Green Lantern series he took out Jade, Alan, and Kyle. And we all saw what he did in Black Reign. I think he deserves an 11 attack. If you can mind control three different people with HUGE willpower, and mind control Captain Marvel without effort, then he should have a big attack. And a 10 range. Super Senses with like a 16 def. Physic blast a few clicks into his dail.

Oh and I'm excited to see Sand back myself!

JayThor
05/04/2004, 08:24
With a 10, he would only have to roll a 6 to hit Captain Marvel. I agree on the 10 range, though 3 arrows is going to make him very expensive. Remember, the Mr. Mind worm was in him during Black Reign.

supermangl1
05/04/2004, 09:29
That is true Mr. Mind was inside him. I wonder if he amped up his powers any or if he just ate away at the tumor in his brain? You could have a Brainave click and a Mr. Mind LE!

JayThor
05/04/2004, 21:19
I think he was amping him, while feeding on the tumor.

NickFury15
05/05/2004, 19:44
Before conversation gets too flat, why don't I throw another topic out there:

For all the fans of DTM's tournements, which do you prefer, the solo fights, or the team? If you like the team battles more, did you prefer themes (like JSA, who won!), or the format as it is now?

I like what's going on now. Half the fun was seeing who would be on which team.

JayThor
05/05/2004, 21:32
I don't really follow them, they tend to be too long. I do occaisionally vote.

supermangl1
05/06/2004, 03:07
I agree that the current form is fun. Getting to see who got teamed up is cool. I love the Catwoman, Captain America, Solomon Grundy, and Doomsday team. It would be the funniest book in comics ever. Catwoman puts the moves on Cap, who is trying to control the situation, and failing horribily, Grundy staring blankly at Cap's multisylabic words, and Doomsday contstantly running around smashing through all the walls. Well fun to think about.

Anyone know who this Cave Carson guy is, whose suppose to help JSA find Sand.

JayThor
05/06/2004, 08:13
Cave Carson is a spelunker/adventurer, who had his own book/part of a book a long time ago. He had teammates, a girl love interest, and many adventures underground. DC was big on teams like that. There was a diving team, a time travel team(led by Rip Hunter), Atomic Knights, etc.

Kid Zero
05/08/2004, 01:36
The Diving Team were the Sea Devils, I think. Don't forget the Challengers of the Unknown.

JayThor
05/08/2004, 08:49
Sea Devils with Dan Dorrance as leader, I believe. No wonder they were part of the Forgotten Heroes....

supermangl1
05/09/2004, 00:54
I can't wait for the next JSA to come out. I had the slowest comic week ever....no titles!!!! It's enough to make someone weep.

Is it next Wednesday yet?

JayThor
05/09/2004, 08:27
I know the feeling. When I was single, I used to get 30 titles a month, so I had books every week. This was over 10 years ago. Then I had to cut back to 10 books a month after we got together. I still usually had at least one book a week, and usually more. Then the children came, and the list was cut down further, eventually to only 4 books. Now at least 2 weeks of the month pass without a comic at all.
:(

I understand the comic budget idea. I am married as well, (to one rather fine woman) and my comics are part of the budget. Now I only have 5-6 titles on my pull list, but I might grab one or two off the shelf as well. So I used to get 20 different titles, when I was younger, but now I get what I really want and am happy with it.

But NO comics is hard in a week is hard.......

Side note question, has anyone else seen this Digtial comics at Toys'R Us? They are the comics put on DVD with the panels shown with someone reading the word balloons. They were like $13.99 for like six issues, and I said no way. But the Crossgen titles were only $3.99. So I give it a shot. Anyone seen these things?

Kid Zero
05/10/2004, 02:40
Wasn't Dane Dorrance? I forget...

JayThor
05/10/2004, 08:00
I pick up an occaisional book from the shelf, like the Firestorm #1 that just came out. I got the Avengers/JLA crossover, and the Hawkman issues from Black Reign storyline.

I double checked, and it was Dane Dorrance from the Sea Devils.

Maniac_nmt
05/10/2004, 23:12
I recently picked up a couple of JSA issues dealing with the 'Black Reign' story line.

Could you cue me in a little on the back story (the two issues I have, one has Black Adam on the cover smashing through the JSA, and the other has Atom Smasher with his mask all torn up on it). I'm at a loss for how eclipso ever got used by a hero, and one that sounds like he used to be on the JSA.

The seen with Atom Smasher snagging the jet and ripping Terrific and Midnight out was classic though.

Did these former JSA members/heros just up and follow BA off to Khandaq? Or is something else going on?

JayThor
05/11/2004, 08:04
Montoya had tattoos that allowed him to keep control of the Eclipso gem, but still access the powers. When Eclipso was defeated in the last big storyline (around #50), he gained control of the gem.

Black Adam has been encouraging Atom Smasher to leave since AS killed Extant to save his mother. Adam thought he would be able to get the JSA to help him, but later realized they would not help in taking over a country. He then went about finding members and non-members that were sympathetic to his ideals.

supermangl1
05/11/2004, 10:38
The Black Reign storyline was great, but it is also in a few Hawkman issues, not just JSA. There is some interesting things going on, Black Adam found out just who has nothing left to lose and built a really strong team. I strongly recommend you pick up the other issues.

supermangl1
05/15/2004, 11:37
Another great issue this month! What did you guys think about it? It was still kinda creepy with Spectre hanging around with no eyeballs and oozing. He said some very interesting things....

I have to say I love having Rex Tyler as Hourman. I'm use to seeing Rick just freak out and go paranoid. Rex is kicking anyone's butt he can find to kick. He fling that truck like a frisbee. Awesome issue. What were your thoughts on it?

Gentlegamer
05/15/2004, 14:20
I'm thinking it is time to pick up my pulls at the comic shop!

NickFury15
05/15/2004, 18:25
Last issue was great. Can't wait until Hal comes back as GL (wink, wink)

Have they ever gone into how strong/durable Hourman gets?

JayThor
05/15/2004, 22:04
Guys, I have a favor to ask. I know you get excited, but Please don't divulge story info until the following month, to make sure everyone has a chance to read their copy. I only get to the comicbook store twice a month, since it is 30+ miles away. I won't get mine before next weekend. Thanks for the consideration.

supermangl1
05/16/2004, 09:06
Sorry JayThor, "I shall resist!" It is good issue but we of the JSA clan will withhold on info on it till you post that you have read the issue.

Have they ever said how durable Hourman is? I think he's bullet proof, but I don't know how much he can resist. Any else know? it seems Rex is more resistent to damage then Rick was. It may just appeaer that way though.

JayThor
05/16/2004, 09:16
I don't mean to be a pill, but it is a pet peeve of mine. I had a friend who always wanted to read my books and then talk about them before I had a chance to read them. (I would be reading another title. I used to get lots of books weekly, before marriage.) He would comment and ask questions while reading. After a while, I wouldn't let him read them until after I finished all of them.

As to Hourman, I don't think he is bulletproof. DC has always been pretty vague about power levels and resistence levels. After all, Wonder Woman is supposed to be close to Superman in power, but still needs the bracelets to block bullets. Go figure. Hourman gets a boost in strength, and I'm sure that gives him some resistence. The way I figure it, he heals fast and gains immunity to disease, so if he gets shot, he just heals up quickly.

I finally got to read my JSA for this month-

Is it just me, are do the writers have a better average than Ted Williams?
They are consistent in giving us a great story, month after month. I found myself thinking about the Per Degaton story as I read this one, wondering how it fit. The Alan/Hal reunion was great, and we got to see some serious power from Alan without the wood thing being used.

As to Hourman, I was wrong! He most assuredly looks bulletproof to me.:o

Yeah thats why I asked, zombie with the Tommy Gun let him have it, yet he picked up that truck and chucked it anyway. It was an awesome issue! Still thought it was weird no one flinched at seeing the Spectre. Who if I was a DC superhero, would more then likely not want around.

What did you think about Hal saying God forgives heroes, "Even John..."
Being John Stewart I believe. That is a very interesting statement. Is Hal just jealous or does he resent John for screwing up all those years ago?

JayThor
05/24/2004, 18:10
I think it has to do with the Mosaic series. I didn't read it, but I think Hal sees John being forgiven for many deaths, and that he could/should be forgiven, himself. I guess more will be explained on that, leading to his return as GL. Hopefully they will get rid of Stewart, or at least ship him off into deep space. Kyle is just getting shafted royally in the GL book. Hopefully that will change for the better as well.

Wow, it's been hard to get back and post here as much as I would like. So what are your favorite top 3 comics you get not including JSA. Which would be #1 for each of us, due to how hard it rocks each month.

Mine are (not including JSA):

2. Nightwing
3. Aquaman (yes I said Aquman)
4. Secret War (I know it's marvel, but I'm a sucker for painted comics)

Pieter - the current Mid-Nite (not Night as I see a lot of people typing) - is a great character, but without McNider you wouldn't have Cross. Charles did far less battlefield healing and didn't carry as many gadgets but he was outstanding; except for a few "revisionist" versions of him, Dr. McNider was one of the most beloved members of the Justice Society (and helped kick-off the All-Star Squadron). My suggestion - before you go take a name, know something about the character so you don't take it from someone else that might actually be a fan of the character? :)

Oh, and as for the comics question, SGL, in no particular order but sticking with DC (or their imprints):

1) Nightwing (the storyline's got me hooked)
2) Fables
3) Planetary (okay, probably doesn't count as a monthly..:) )

supermangl1

I really like the Nightwing title. Though I know some are not happy with some occurances of late. I see it as believable, I know if I don't sleep for a couple of days and get the tar knocked out of me, I may not be at the height of reasoning power.

I too get The Ultimates, but isn't it more of a quarterly title ( ;) )? I love it when it comes out though.

Haven't kept up with Thor since he went Odinforce. Is he still nigh all powerful?

JayThor
06/21/2004, 08:54
I liked Black Reign better, though they were both good. I was suprised that Hal was still Spectre at the end, since he is heavily rumored to be returning to the GL identity. I love how the writing team manages to include so many members in their fights, without making it look like it is a walk in the park, like the JLA staff usually does.

Both Green Lantern and Mister Terrific were injured rather nicely in the end fight. It's good to see a battle not leave participants unscathed, like in other comics . . .

I have to admit that seeing Hal give up on Redemption and go the Vengeance route fits the character a lot better. It's almost tragic in a way - you had hoped he'd learned the lessons of the past - but at the same time, you can tell something is brewing because of it (while I don't always support the idea of the Uber-Bat, I really back Bruce's opinion of Hal's actions and seriously hope the Bat gets to knock Jordan down a notch :) ). Besides, with Mandrake's artwork and all of the walking Spec-victims, it was a real nice trip down memory lane.

My main disappointment of the storyline? Here we are finally getting to see Portsmouth after all of these years and we really don't get to see much of an update on it. Obviously Doc's "crew" has grown substantially and we _hear_ that Camille is still around but, blast it, I want to see her! I admit, I was geeking out when I heard Doc was returning to his home town for a storyline and thought it might center a bit more on him - and he certainly wasn't ignored in the storyline - but it did seem like the story could've taken place pretty much anywhere. Oh, and anyone on the JSA Discussion Thread (DC Comics Forum on HCRealms) has already had to endure my rant about how Pieter's a real screw-up if he let his mother die the way she did (and it's no secret how much I love the Mid-Nite's so it's hard for me to say that. :) ).

Funny thing about Terrific getting rushed in for emergency treatment: the panel where he gets hit, it doesn't look like he was clocked that hard - we've seen him nailed worse. :)

doctorfate77
06/24/2004, 23:24
regarding the whole Spectre thing, why is it that he has never taken to punishing the killer of Bruce's parents? be it Joe Chill, John Corben, or what have you.

With the bridge between Hal and Bruce, why has that never been visited before (as I'm this clans' SPECTRE, I'm pretty curious) as an attempt to reconnect, as odd of a make-up as that would be...

"Bruce, I know we have fallen out of favor with each other, but I'd like to make it up to you."

"and HOW do you plan on doing that, Jordan?!?"

"I found your parents' real killer and i turned him into a Whack-a-Mole game. Here's the hammer. Cheers, mate!"

*Bruce and the 25-foot Ghost of Vengance share a meaningful hug*

I mean, It's obvious that of all people, The Spectre would know the right guy to punish.

just a thought...

JayThor
06/25/2004, 09:18
If not Spectre, then the Crimson Avenger. Imagine her tracking down Chill and Batman with his "no-killing" attitude trying to stop her....

Rokk_Krinn
06/25/2004, 11:45
I think the problems with Hal inflicting Vengeance upon the killer of Batman's parents - besides just finding out who the killer is (as post-ZH it's an unidentified individual) - would be that even against the man who destroyed his family, I can't see Bruce condoning the gruesome acts the Spectre would inflict.

There's also the problem of taking away Bruce's sense of closure by performing the act for him. Think about it: you've devoted your entire life due to the actions of this one man - one you've sworn to someday find and bring to justice - and then someone you don't even like or trust comes along and kills him. Bit of a void left there, I think. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the thug's fate is best left in the hands of Bruce and for Hal to take away that final decision from Batman would totally destroy any future bridge-building attempts.

I debated whether or not Hal could use the Spectre's powers and connections to at least find out the identity of the killer and pass it on to Bruce, but somehow I think his duties as the Spectre would then make Hal go inflict a horrible punishment on the thug, leading to the above problems.

doctorfate77

I think the idea was disclaimed later in the story arc as it was widely hinted that Luthor was trying to distract the Bat with a made-up story. I know editorial decree from the Bat Offices is that the killer is still unknown (something about them wanting Bruce to view each criminal as potentially the killer).

Obviously, I vote bad.

Rokk_Krinn
08/09/2004, 10:33
I've despised the loss of Captain Marvel. He just really fit into the style and idealism of the JSA, plus it was a nice nod to his Golden Age history. Not to mention, I was really liking the idea of Billy and Courtney. Hey, I admit it - I pay more attention to the soap operas than I do the action. :) 'Course that's also because the soap opera aspects require more words ergo more to read which means I get more for my money than just splash panels.

JayThor
08/09/2004, 23:11
I agree. He is old-school, and that made him fit better with the JSA than the JLA, IMO. I also liked the budding teen romance. He fit her much better than Jakeem, though I do miss seeing him and T-bolt/Johnny.

I don't think we missed anything. Last I heard of Jakeem was when Jay mentioned to Marvel that Jakeem was worried about Courtney and Marvel.

Actually I'm loving having the original Hourman around and wish we'd get more than just a couple quick panels with him in the issues. :)

I don't mind him there, I just liked the new blood.

boneyard is able to confirm that there will be several members of the JSA in the next set (more than 2 this time). I can't wait for the new set!!

In fairness, Unleashed was actually pretty nice to the JSA fans. We got: Billy, Teth, Kendra and Hector. I'm really hoping Mid-Nite makes it into the set so I don't have to run another $500 Promote the Man contest. :)

Even Fate was only the E and LE. I want a REV of Doc Midnite, Mr. Terrific, Wildcat, Powergirl(E for JLA), that are JSA on two out of three dials, if not all three. DOn't get me wrong, I like Fate and the rest, we just seem to get shafted on when a hero gets the JSA. Black Canary as a Rookie, Kendra as E, Jay and Starman not at all....

I'm not sure Terrific and, especially Mid-Nite, should have R versions on the JSA - they had careers prior to the group.

Oh, and Kendra was with the JLA - albeit briefly - during the Obsidian Age storyline. Carter was really miffed they asked for her instead of him (actually, originally they wanted Billy and Wisdom of Solomon told him "Not this time.").

Well New Comic Week finally hit rural Canada and did I get to see a lot of old friends. For someone that had a carefully packed away horde of comics featuring the "not really" sandman and his sidekicks brute and glob it was pretty cool to see them. I had all kinds of flashbacks to things like Sandman having to hitch a ride from Santa to head of mischief they had caused and such. Of course, that got somewhat overshadowed when my Legion showed up with some of my favorite Subs and Academy members...was DC shooting for nostalgia month or what?

Sorry I've been waaaaay to busy to post much the past couple pf weeks. But I must say it's been a great couple of weeks too though. Went to Wizard World, meet the writer Geoff Johns, got a JSA Black Reign issued signed, very nice guy. So I just picked up my new issues, and JSA rocks again!! I have no real clue who Glob and Brute are, but I loved the issue, and the cover was completely awesome!

I hope that Marvel gets to come back to the JSA soon, I really liked him there. (The DC Panel at Chicago said that after the Cap. Marvel mini, he would be dutifully employed somewhere in the DCU, refering to Marvel. So heres to hoping he comes home to the JSA!)

I loved that Brainwave guest stared in the lastest issue too.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wandered over to the rumor mill, and Green Lantern is happy! There is Mr. Freeze on the strongly rumored list!! Well he be useless, probably, will I play him often probably.

And underneth in the less likely Rumored section, the entire JSA team. It seems for sure we will get some more JSA members, he's to hoping Dr. Mid-Nite (the best medec ever, who can turn around and kick your butt!!) Power Girl, Mr. Terriffic (outwit) and all the rest!

Hey Salakk, glad you found the joy of the JSA. The best written and most enjoyable comic printed today (imho...;) ) !

So everyone say hello to Salakk or should I say Ted Knight a.k.a. Starman!!!!!!!!!!!

Wear your title as symbol of honor!

As side question did anyone pick up JSA Strange Tales? I was too busy trying to find all of the Batman: War Games issues to try a new title, not enough funds. But I would love to hear how it was.

JayThor
08/23/2004, 13:55
I did, and it was very good. I look forward to the rest of the story! I also agree that the JSA is the best book going right now.

Welcome to our new (old) Starman!

Bring on the true GL, Alan Scott, to Heroclix!

Now I don't want to bash any other comic book companies, but I thought the X-book relaunch was suppose to make it easier to jump on and pick up the books. It seems to have gotten worse to my mind. Magento died, then he was Xorn, and now Exculiber seems to be saying he wasn't really Xorn, just swapped places? Huh???

Yet somehow the X-books sell very well each month. I say demand quality from your comic book companies! Is a quality story and at least decent art too hard to give? Thats why I love JSA, Teen Titans, Aquaman, and even Outsiders and now Batman. Good art and a solid story month in, month out.

Quality rules my friends. Rant over ;)

Now am I alone in getting impatient waiting for the next DC heroclix set?

Thats a hard one, it depends a bit on who is writing. For sheer love of the character, Jay and Ted would be tops of my list. I have really enjoyed the modern Mr Terrific, and I was always a fan of the old one...

Alan,Capt. Marvel, Ted, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Sand. I like Alan b/c he's the original GL.

Marvel b/c he is just cool and fun to read about.

Ted b/c he makes me laugh.

Mid-Nite b/c he is a unique character in the world of comics, a fighter, a highly trained medic, blind, and is a man of faith.

Sand b/c his powers seem the most unique to me out of the bunch.

Heh. I think we get to answer this pretty frequently but it's always fun. :)

Anyway, no question in my mind - heck, as older Realmers know I even made a failed attempt to get people into reading about the guy with a big money contest - is that my favourite is Dr. Mid-Nite...both of them. There are some real differences between the two and I urge people to learn about them. :)

WHA?!!?!?!?! JSA clan on the second page? No sir! I'm glad GL has come home to find this horrible injustice!!!!

I just read the latest issue of JSA, and I have to say it was just friggin awesome! I loved it. Everything about it, fast paced, action, drama, time travel, heart wrenching decisions. Good stuff guys! All three Hourman in the same page! Never saw that one coming.

09/20/2004, 14:57
I really don't see Rex letting Rick die, or Johns (because he's writing it) because that would cause a one major headache. Well at least in my mind it would. It be honest, Rex has been alot of fun to have around instead of depressed Rick. But I'm not sure, would that mess up the timeline and unravel the timestream like a ball of yawn, causing Metron to show up to talk way too much and be annoying like in every other time travel stroy arc???? I hope not!

Good to see you again Dr. Fate! How was talk like a pirate day?

And I just thought about Dr. Fate talking like a pirate with the helm of nabu on......

" Don' ye be tellin' me wha' tu do Naboo! I be da' only Fate weilding Doc 'round here, shut up or I make te walk da plank! Arrrr...."

Golden helmet shining in the sun on the helm of a pirate ship, with a patch over one eye hole.......

ME TOO!!! sorry, it's contagious. I think we will get Alan Scott, at least the KC, but I truly hope for the REV with JSA/Mystic/JSA. I think we get Power Girl, too, since she is a cary over from the early JSA, then Infinity, Inc, then JLA, then JSA again. She has lots of history, and is one of the more popular females not yet made.

My pick/guess:
Alan Scott
Power Girl
Wildcat

supermangl1
10/07/2004, 20:09
Agreed!!! If they make any of the JSAer's and don't give them the JSA team ability
*cough*cough* Jay Garrick and Starman *cough*cough*
I might just flip out. I really want more JSA people. Any of them. Even the reserve members. Actually that would rock! A set with three or four members and one reserve member.

I know we do this often, but if you could pick one reserve member of the JSA to be in Legacy who would it be?

My choice:
Uncle Sam - who wouldn't love to have Uncle Sam pick up a dumpster and crush Kobra with it?

You know what? It REALLY needs to be Feburary, so I can use birthday money to buy a truck load of boosters.

******At a tournament*****

Them - "So who did you bring?"
Me - "I couldn't decide. Either my JSA team w/ Ma Hunkle LE, Suicide Squad with Red Tornado w/ pot helmet, my JLA team led by Red Tornado, or my Despero under Red Tornado's guidance team. It's a hard choice!"
