I haven't written a fic in a while, and I don't even like them very much. But hey, here's my little shot at an out-of-continuity fic regarding two awesome charecters. This fic contains very little action, so if you really want action, read that one about Kilowog. Thank you.
"Tornados around 2 AM" by zaurial.
It was around 2 AM. A multi-colored figure was seen quickly scaleing a fire escape, followed by heavy panting. The figure rested their hand on the railing, then slowly continued their way up, until they approched the top of the building. It sat on the ventilator and caught its breath.
Suddenly, a high wind picked up. A bright red humanoid surronded by wind landed on the building. The two figures examined each other, then made eye contacts.
"Red Tornado." they said in unison.
The first one took of her helmet, which was really just a soup pot.
"I... I really shouldn't be out here." She said. "It's just the team's out stopping Brown Adam or something, they were in a hurry, and I got, well, bored. What's your excuse?"
The robot sat down on the edge of the building. "I suppose I don't have one. I'm currently a Justice League reservist, and I just don't have anything better to do at night."
Ma Hunkle nodded. "Funny. I always saw you plugged into an 'lectrical outlet at night." She laughed a little.
Red Tornado, the robot, looked up. "Yes, patrol is Batman's area."
"Who?" replied Ma.
"Never mind. I just thought, maybe he's got a good idea. I did stop a mugging."
"Well, good for you!" Ma exclaimed. "I stopped a few muggin's at my peak. Haven't really done much since. Heck, this is the most super-heroing I've done in years."
The former Tornado Champion suddenly jerked his head up. A loud alarm was set off. Ma Hunkle put on her helmet to dampen the noise.
"What is it?" She shouted.
"It's a group of what appear to be teenagers robbing a 7-11. They are all wearing yellow masks." The robot replied.
"Yellow masks...?" Ma Hunkle remembered the mob that forcd her into exile to save her children for fifty-three years. She couldn't let that happen to anyone else. "Outta my way!" She shoved past the other Red Tornado and looked down the side of the six story building. After a few silent seconds, she looked at him and said almost accusingly,"You taking me down or what?"
Moments later, a bright yellow Honda revved and sped away into the distance. The Red Tornados, one carrying the other, flew after them. They were fast, but the car was faster. The Tornados didn't catch them until they pulled over at a house in suburban Keystone City. Red Tornado set down Red Tornado.
"Sorry. I guess my legs just ran out of power." the robot said. "Is your back alright?"
Ma grunted and snapped her back. "I'll be fine. Let's get them!"
The robot's wind from his hands blew down the front wall. 5 kids with yellow masks stared in shock at the two heroes, the one pulled a gun. One, two, three shots fired, all deflected by the tall one's spinning arms. The two in the back made a break for it, and the remaining three stayed shooting the robot. Ma went after the others.
The three kids wouldn't quit. They fired bullet after bullet at the Red Tornado, and every single time it was deflected. Finally, the Tornado whipped up a whirlwind that threw them around the room, smacking into the ceramic poodles and pictures of sad clowns.
"What is this, your grandmother's house?"
One of the kids said something in Spanish.
"I'll keep that in mind." The robot shot back as he dropped them.
Meanwhile, Ma was just about on the two that escaped. Miraculuosly, she managed to grab the torn jacket of the slow one and flung him against the wall. The other one reached in his jacket, but Ma just took off her helmet, thrust it on his conk with a, well, conk, and hit it as hard as she could. The kid dropped to the floor, skidding the wallpaper off with the handles.
About twenty minutes later, The Tornados took their place back on the rooftop. Ma turned to her partner.
"We did a good job, eh?"
"Yes." Red Tornado replied solumnly. "Shall we go again tomorrow?"
Ma sighed. "I don't think so. I had a great time tonight, but it's just too much. You probably hear this all the time, but I am ACTUALLY too old for this."
There were a few seconds of silence as they looked down on the city.
"However," Ma interjected. "If we DO do this again, maybe somewhere more exiting. Like Gothom."
"I wouldn't suggest that." said a voice from the shadows.
The Tornados looked at each other, and the new one flew the old one home.
