View Full Version : Help with the basics...
I am going to attempt some basic mods and wanted some advice. Now I am just trying this out, so I really don't want to spend too much money on this stuff, anything that can be purchased from Walmart or Michaels would be helpful. I needed some info on several things:
1.Do I need to prime the figs?
-if so which kind of primer, paint or spray?
2.What do you use to take the figures off of bases?
3.What do you use to stick the figures to bases?
4.What do you use to "coat" the figs?
-once again the kind that you paint on or spray
Specific names of brands or products is always helpful. I have had people tell me to get a good plastic glue, then not tell me a brand. Hopefully these mods will turn out well and I will return to the boards here and post my new army. Thanks.

1.) I'd really reccomend you do. I wash the figs in soapy water water and dry them prior to priming. As to brand I swear by Games Workshop but many people tell me thay use automotive primer. I like white.
2.) An Exacto blade wedged in underneath where the fig joins the dial and a gentle rocking motion to slowly loosen the two.
3.) Any super glue but Zap a Gap is my preferred choice.
4.) Usually I use crystal clear matte spray and a brush on gloss medium.
5.) When you are at michaels buying paint I reccomend Americanna for its brilliant colors, always helpful when painting super heroes.
Good luck with your mods.

one more tip for ya, to help in gettint the figure off of the base, you might toss it in the freeze for a few mins, like 5 mins or so... this will make the glue more brittle, and make it easier to take off the base with out messing up the top of the dail.
Not a must, but a helpful thing to do.
