In the Tenth Circle story:

Is it me or is that the Doom Patrol? A friend of a friend who is the disant three times removed cousin of a complete stranger told me that Byrne will be starting a new Doom Patrol series. Apparently the originals will be brought back, the Vertigo series (and its DC prelude), and the most current series (with that carpy art)will not have existed. How they survived the island blowing up will be a good story. I wonder if the same creative team of Claremont, Byrne, and Ordway will be used.

I just hope they get Claremont, Byrne, and Ordway OFF the Justice League as soon as possible. I HATED the issue they did. The art, the lousy, out of character dialogue, the lack of respect for the last 80 or so issues of the JLA title.

A load of CARP.

Look, its a vampire, and his teeth can penetrate something harder than steel! And he says because EVERYONE knows Superman is helpless against magic. Excuse me? When did the article detailing Superman's weaknesses appear in the Daily Planet so any carpilly drawn vampire doofus can use the knowledge? And what happened to Superman's mental resistance? His mind was supposed to have been invulnerable also, at least to the extent of his body. The explanation being that he is able to form his defenses against anything he can understand, which is how they came up with magic as a way to hurt him. Plus this contradicts the Superman Thor fight, where he catches the hammer, showing that just because something is magic doesn't mean he turns into Stephen Hawking. I HATE Byrne, Claremont, and Ordway.

You want proof Byrne sucks? Read "Superman: The Planet Stealers" and see that he hasn't gotten any better since. Proof Claremont sucks? Anything he's done that wasn't his initial run of X-Men. Ordway? Just look at the comic.

I will not give them a single penny of my money. And I won't buy JLA until these overrated hacks are removed.

Oh, I almost forgot, it probably IS the Doom Patrol, since there are signs pointing to the X-Men all over the place, (recruiting young mutants, using a cerebro device to locate them, the X symbol), and the X-Men were a blatant rip off of Doom Patrol. A group of heroic misfits who were hated and feared by the world they were sworn to protect, led by a mastermind in a wheelchair. Sound familiar?

I wouldn't put it past Claremont to try and take a cheap shot at X-Men like a spurned lover attempting to get a little payback by pointing out their ex's flaws to the world.

I've met him, and he IS that petty.

Um, go to the DC Comics webpage....

http://www.dccomics.com

and click on titles shipping in june...look at JLA - the group is some new Justice League (Justice League Extreme or something equally silly sounding...)

From how they look - it reminds me of John Byrne's "Next Men" series from years back.:ermm:

I like next men! But yeah, I was more excited with Lee and Loeb on Batman and now Superman than I am for the Byrne Claremont duo on JLA-

And for vampires-they drink supermans blood they die!!
Or at least that happened to "drac" in one o' the superman books

Eagerly awaiting for Kelly and Manke to return......

For their last arc:disappoin

Yes I saw the short blurb about JLA #100. That team, called the Elite, has nothing to do with the Tenth Circle storyline. At any rate why would this team "return" if it just appeared in the last issue? It is the next JLA arc and a new maxiseries starting in July. I did not read the article myself but the latest Wizard says that Byrne will be doing a new Doom Patrol series. The characters shown in JLA #94 are exact copies of Cliff, Larry, Rita and Niles with some minor adjustments, actually if it was Cliff Steele he was in the shadows and that would be a dead givaway if we were to see him clearly. This mysterious group of four are none of the two female "heroes" shown on the cover of issue 100. I think it's a safe assumption to expect this group of four to be the best superhero team ever. John Byrne has done DP before, and DC is going back to the Silver Age with it's current stories so far.

And yes Vampires can pierce Superman's skin as it were ordinary flesh, since Post Crisis this has been always the case, a more recent story is when Dracula himself but the bite on Clark in a Superman story that took place after OWAW. As to why they know this it's anyones guess but Supes has tangled with many mystic bad guys, i.e. the Demon, Morgan Le Fey, Dracula, and Felix Faust to name a few. I wasn't too impressed with the story but if the whole point of this story arc is to reintroduce the DP then I'm all for it!!!!!

Dude bag on Byrne and Claremont all you want I'm right behind you, they do tend to #### most of the time, not all. (byrne was in rare form for Alpha Flight) I dislike Byrne most of all for his raping of Superman. Byrne can be a decent writer but he has to be reigned in, he does not deserve Carte Blanche. I think his run on Superman and Spiderman proved that. When he does not have free reign he can produce some good stories now and then.

But Ordway?!? He's the man! I appreciate his pencils and inks. I haven't read any of his issues but he brought back Captain Marvel back from comic death after Giffen's and DeMatthiss' run with him. If anything Ordway is making Byrne's art tolerable.

Well, actually it is common villian knowledge of Supermans weaknesses. There have been news stories of his weaknesses. Also, Superman has been bitten by vampires before. The blood prooved too strong for the vampire to handle, but there are multiple schools of vampire. Superman is far from invulnerable to mind control, part of the reason why he entrusted Batman with a Kryptonite Ring.

I didn't like the artwork for Wonder Woman. A Tiera that encircles the head like a headband and hair that is 20 years too old. Also she went running off to the "Amazon Archives" rather than doing some footwork.

However I think this comic was brilliantly done. I rather enjoyed it, but that is just my opinion. You got to admit, it was better than the previous storyarc with the talking monkey named Peppy and Superman being drawn like a fat, middle aged, pig man. I am excited to see what else is in store next issue. Also good usage of Raven, a guy no one knows anything about. I think these three will have fun exploring Faith and Raven.

It is indeed the Doom Patrol, sorry if that spoils ya.

John Byrne has confirmed on his message board that he's relaunching the DP, in what they're terming a "Wonder Woman Style" reboot. ie: This will be the DP's first appearance in the DCU, and all continuity involving their previous adventures is considered never to have happened.

i like the Doom Patrol, always have. My favorite run was under Morrison, and to have that be null and void is actually kinda sad. But the new series might rock, who knows. i still maintain that continuity can be cleaned up without rebooting, but hey, to each their editorial own.

At least it means it's pretty likely that Byrne won't be getting his hands on Crazy Jane and Danny the Street. ;)

It doesn't spoit it for me cause I have liked the Doom Patrol since My Greatest Adventure #80, I tolerated the Second series and thought it got better when it crossed over to Vertigo with Morrisson. The best story was the solo story where Robotman's body got sick of being controlled by a human brain, kicked Cliff Steeles brain out and threatened to blow itselt up if someone tried to put a new brain in it, besides the gay moment between mallah and the Brain it was great!

This reboot causes waves to be certain, Beast Boy, (Changling) aka Gar Logan was the DP's unofficial mascot and several crucial storylines in the Teen Titans had him and his step dad Mento, ex-boyfriend of Rita Farr, in them. Byrne is infamous for these reboots, some work some don't. Some people will say: "DC just had a series about the Doom Patrol!" Well even though it had Robotman it wasn't the Doom Patrol without Niles, Larry and Rita as well, plus the art was stinky.....pehew!

LOL ... Danny the Street should only be handled by Grant. It's a shame to "wipe out" continuity, like the issues I have are some sort of paradox. Sigh ... Crazy Jane, Flex Mentallo, Danny the Str...err World ... too much fun. Ever since reading it I've been pretty hooked on anything Morrison writes, especially if he's trying his hand at something mainstream, ala JLA or New X-Men ...

While I agree- Byrne has put out a lot of, well, reeking garbage, I really liked his "Man of Steel" miniseries in the 80's. A character has never had such a worthwhile revisioning, and still, to this day, I think it's the best take on Superman anyone's ever done. (Especially compared with the new "Birthright" series. Luthor and Clark friends in Smallville? WHAT!?! Like that makes sense later when he doesn't recognize Superman.)

I noticed the Doom Patrol-esque ness of the group in JLA, but I never imagined it was supposed to be them. I thought it was just some sort of homage.

The deal with the vampire drinking supermans blood in an earlier incident was that his blood had sunlight power in it since his body absorbs it, sort of like when atom sent steel and superboy/girl into him to cut out the kryptonite infection and it was all full of energy filled cells. When the vampire bit him, it got ashed by the sunlight. I was kind of suprised when it didnt happen in this issue but hey, beats a shapechanging monkey and a League that doesnt see the danger in ultra powerfull aliens that came to check on earths progress, says humans were a mistake, and then keeps wanting to go back and look at the slums and extinctions over and over again...
