Hey guys,

just got my copy of She-Hulk #1, and I must say I am pleasantly impressed. She's my favourite female character in all of comicdom, and I really think that they got her character spot on. Who is this writer? I've never heard of him before.

The art is nice in some parts, but not always. Shulkie looks great, and some of the characters are good, but others (especially Cap and Blizzard) are quite bad. I think he just has problems drawing full face masks (or it could be deliberate). I really enjoyed some of the panel layouts and angles though- very nice sense of page design (eg. when Jen transforms on the bed, or kisses her parking permit, or punches the force field...).

The story has me intrigued as well. I like how they have made the various aspects of her character so integral to the story, and also made very clear the contrast between the human Jen Walters, and her big green persona. Nice to see.

How about everyone else?

I liked it!!

Loved the art!!

Hope they don't play it too much like Sex in the city and Alley Mcbeal.....I didn't think She Hulk had too much of a big deal against Jen persona, but hey, it's not like the last series (by byrne-what 15 years ago?) gave much of a look into her depth.....definetly a step up from the recent #1's marvel has pulled outta their butts.....

I liked it a lot. I love the old Byrne She-Hulk series, and this one has potential to be as good. It's definately still got the humor.

The art was good in most parts. Cap's face was bad, but blizzards didn't bother me. She-Hulks hands seemed to small in almost every panel though.

Besides that, I really enjoyed it. I would like to see a bit more action. The 2-3 pages of action in #1 was my favorite part of the book. I definately recommend giving this book a try.

Jen has always had a problm with being Jen instead of She Hulk. Before her transformation, in spite of her intelligence an talent she felt like an ignored wallflower. As She Hulk she feels she has control over her destiny instead of being a victim of the waves of life.

It's not an ego trip thing, but a wanting to be the real her thing. What's cool is that it looks like this series is going to explore what it means to be the real her. That being Jennifer and/or She Hulk isn't neccesarily mutually exclusive. Hence the irony of the end of issue one.

I love Bobillo's art. He did an awesome job over in Mechanix (good Shadowcat mini). I loved the way Blizzard looked as dorky as his Clix. It kind of put him where he belongs as a third rate villain.

I also hope we see her dad and Weezi return in some capacity. There are so few heroes with family roots. It would be an original way to go.

Yeah agree, I think the Blizzard thing was deliberate. Last time I saw Blizz (in Thunderbolts) he had a snazzy modern looking costume. Cap looked bad though...wonder if that was deliberate?

As for the small hands on Shulkie, I noticed that too. I'm an artist myself, and I can tell you from experience that it's really hard to draw hands on the muscular type women such as She-Hulk. If their hands are in proportion then they end up looking too masculine. To get them to look feminine means making them look too small. It's a very tricky thing to do.

So I assume her ability to transform is a result of the Red Zone story from Avengers right? Or has it been going on longer than that?

Jen regained the ability to change in The Search for She Hulk story arc in The Avengers (now in TP).

Jack of Hearts accidentally made her powers go haywire, and when he fixed them, the genetic lock was also corrected.

When it came to She-Hulk, Byrne couldn't write his way out of a wet paper bag with people tearing holes in the sides for him.
The cover of #1 is worth the money by itself. The art inside is very stylized, and I cna see the writing could end up as a Superhero Sex in the City. I'm definitely giving it a chance.

Don't sugar coat this shin. Tell us how you really feel. LOL!

So was Rusty and his...I mean Iron Gian...oops sorry Sentinal really that good? (just ribbing you)

If you recheck Byrne's run I think you'll find all the industry jokes, not to mention tongue in cheek tribute to the Golden and Silver Ages.

I loved it! The artist makes her really hot. The difference between Jen and Shulkie is great, it's funny, the return of MODOK, classic, awesome, getting it next month.
