I think Teen Titans is the best current DC series right now, what about you?

JSA.

Followed closely by HERO and Gotham Central.

JSA

There are a few series I hope improve real soon (because they were great for so long (JLA...)

I also like the non-continuity Fables

JSA close second the Flash. JLA is blah right now. When Johns leaves JSA (hopefully not soon!)he should go over to JLA.

Like many people on here I can't give enough praise to "JSA". The plotting and script are key-on consistently. The art works wonderfully for the style of the team. The mood the book means to invoke - tradition plus a new legacy - really is communicated in an excellent manner to the reader. Finally, the cast of characters is just great fun: Green Lantern, Jay Garrick, Dr. Mid-Nite, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, Star-Spangled Kid and others quickly grow to be characters that you just hate leaving when you reach the end of the book. Biggest complaint about "JSA"? Having to wait that month in between each issue.

Outside of the standard DCU, I also strongly recommend "Fables". It's hard to pin down the reasons for this, but I still say check it out. Many of the characters are interesting - you even take a character named "Prince Charming" seriously! - and the storylines definitely keep you reading. There's more to it than just that - an almost indefinite quality that makes the book really live up to its' name.

Other Recommendations: The Flash, Hellblazer (read it before Keanu's movie influences it too much), Teen Titans, H.E.R.O., Gotham Knights, Gotham Central and the Legion. The new "Swamp Thing" also looks like it has potential. I had hopes for "Superman/Batman" but the total destruction of Luthor's presidency has made it hard for me to enjoy. :)

HAWKMAN is excellent... as is GOTHAM CENTRAL, a book I had almost no hope for. TITANS drops a few points to me for a few reasons: 1. The recent art sub Tom Grummet... always hated his art, and this was poor even for him. 2. The regular artist (name escapes me now) doesn't have the best visual storytelling. But still an excellent book.

Also on the list: BATMAN ADVENTURES. Since the relaunch, it has been great... stories of a consistency and intelligence of the show itself, and filling in the continuity established in both the show, and Batman Beyond. Sadly canceled due to the new cartoon.
BATMAN/SUPERMAN: I personally loved the Luthor takedown... for the first time in a LONG time they did what was promised. We were told this was a whole end/begining for Luthor, and they did it, so I congratulate them on not doing a big tease and no follow through as Hush did with it's big Batman/Joker meeting.

I think declaring best is dependent upon preference, but here is what I enjoy reading:

1. JSA
2. Outsiders
3. Flash
4. Rose and Thorn
5. Teen Titans
6. H-E-R-O
7. Birds of Prey
8. Green Arrow (took a dramatic fall after the latest issue)
9. Aquaman (still undecided and unsure where this is going)
10. Swamp Thing (still too early to tell)

I also enjoy Hawkman, but didn't place it on my list because I'm approaching it as a "new" title that I haven't read yet due to the change in writers.

I have been blown away by an elseworlds mini going on now called -Superman: Secret Identity-

And it has been an incredibly great read, it is by Kurt Busiek with art by Superman Alum Stuart Immonen.

It is by far the best "What if superman were real story" I have ever read and one of the best overall superman stories ever.

It's on issue 3 now and you should be able to get the first couple issues, don't let the price tag scare you it's worth it.

Or, wait a few months and it will be in trade form!

I also have heard extremely great things about Superman Secret Identity. However, I have not picked-it-up because my interest in Superman stories has always been very slim. However, considering the incredible things I have heard about it, I guess I should overlook my bias for Superman. Great writing is great writing, right?

However, if it's coming-out in trade paperback, maybe I should wait.

I've also heard New Frontier is excellent, but I am waiting for that to be released in trade paperback. With DC, who knows how long that will take.

JSA would definatly be near the top.
Outsiders is also really good.
Hero is great.
Flash, Teen Titans, Hawkman-Hell any Dc book by Goeff Johns rocks.
Fallen Angel has been pretty good so far.

And this isn't counting the good Vertigo books-
Y-the last man
Fables

And you can technically count Wildstorn as DCthen you have
Sleeper
21 Down
Both very underrated books

1) JSA
2) Superman/Batman
3) WildC.A.T.s 3.0

In that order. Although, Jeph Loeb is really nailing the characters of Bruce and Kal-El (as well he should since he has written plenty of stories for both men) and might be upseating Geoff Johns.

JSA.
Who could argue with that?

Teen Titans is second, but stumbling with the reintroduction of boring Wolfman-era characters like Brother Blood and Deathstroke.

Aquaman is gaining...fast.

12 replies and JSA gets 7 votes!

Fables comes up behind at 3, then Titans, Outsiders, Gotham Central and HERO at 2

One other vote was for Hawkman, again with the strong JSA feel

Noticeably absent: Batman's own solo series and Superman's own solo series

Maybe DC will listen?...

New Frontier is excellent

JSA is excellent.

I'm enjoying Teen Titans, Outsiders, JLA (at least the most recent issue), and Flash.

My favourite current DC Series is far and away Human Target. Very slick, very cool. Can't recommend the book enough.

After that it's easily JSA.

I like the current Batman arc, but am jumping off when Winnick comes on. I just don't like his writing at all.

Two of my previous favourites that have been on a downward slide, Hawkman and Legion are getting new creative teams, so that's a good sign that they'll pick up again.

I'm not thrilled with Flash lately and have been toying with dropping it. Hopefully the new storyline will improve things.

Too early to tell yet for Swamp Thing but I have high hopes.

JSA... of course. JSA is everything X-Men and Avengers should be and exactally what JLA shouldn't be. Dead on characterization and my only complaint in the book is Mr. Terrific. Loathe that character.

never read JSA really but now it looks like I need to!

right now I'm really hoping the Flash and Green Lantern books really take off again with their new "directions." I've been a pretty steady GL fan and I missed Ron when he left and now I'm pretty pumped that he's coming back.

Well my second book would be Y: The last man.

Talking all time best DC book? Preacher.
