Well, here we go. The rules are-each person can nominate two people. Please provide a short(one paragraph) description of powers and abilities. We are looking to get to 32 for the tourney, so we would like to be over that total for nominations-40ish. So we need YOUR input, people of the Realms. Remember, this is lightwieghts- so think in those terms. I'll hold my noms to see who we get. You can nominate a character from:

Boy did I pick the wrong day to put this up:ermm: The biggest day on the realms since they announced retirement. I am still hoping to get some responses to this however. feel free to throw your favorite little known comics stars into the battle.
well I"ll go ahead and nominate Rose "Gan'ma" Ben from "Bone"
Rose Ben is a skilled physical fighter that has strength and toughness beyond that of a normal human being. She can be assumed to be immune to blunt and bladed attacks from sources of even high end human strength (although probably not gunfire, or other mechanical means of damage) and her strength is such that she can break down walls constructed of most wood (although not any sturdier material). She can also run faster than a cow. In addition to her physical might Rose can determine the location of people or places by concetrating momentarily, and she can communicate, in a limited fashion, through dreams. She is typically dressed as a milk maid and carries no weapons, although on occasion she uses a sword.

Thanks for checking me on that BigSoph. It is 2000AD. We have three so far, so I will add a fourth:
Shadowman(Valiant)-Jack Boniface was given a mask that when worn grants him the powers to blend with shadows, increases his agility, speed, and endurence to the peak of human levels. Also has some regeneration ability, but this is strongest only at night. An above average hand to hand fighter, most other areas are basically the best a human could hope to be.
I will also hold out my second nom till we see who else we get.

Badger (Capital comics, First comics, Dark Horse, Image, this guy gets around)
He's mildly insane. He has multiple personalities and martial arts skill to rival that of even that bat-eared guy or the flag dude with the shield.

Savage Dragons' Bullseyesque companion and founding member of Freak Force. She has amazing hand to hand combat skills but primarily relies on her uncanny aim with her darts. Hence the name.

Midnighter is too powerful i think. He has beyond human level strength, duarability, ad reflexes, and a horrifying healing factor. He carries an arsenal of nearly unparalled proportions on him at all times, some of which can kill people with superman like defenses he will probably be the best armed person in the tournament. He can see in numerous different spectrums. His brain has some kind of gentically engineered system built into it that allows him to account for essentially every fighting style known to man or that can be reasonably imagined, this allows him to inately devise every possible battle startegy and counters therof. He keeps several "spare" sets of organs inside his body, he has at least two fully functional hearts. He is also, cruel, merciless, and fights dirty.

Little to no superpowers for the lightweights?
I will say Stryker from Cyberforce, Image:
He has four arms, three on his right side. The three arms are cybernetic, and he has super strength in those arms. He has a cybernetic eye which can do lots of stuff, (think Cyborg from Titans). Also he carries a array of guns, like the Punisher, mostly four hand guns. Also great team leader and tactition.
Ninjak- Valiant-
He has no super powers, he is like James Bond with a ninja sword. He is a great fighter and does everything a ninja should. Stealth, sword, throwing things, hand to hand combat master,etc. One bad man.

She is a warrior scout for the reptilian Saurian empire. Saurian's strength, speed, and combat reflexes exceed human levels. She is cunning, ferocious, and is proficient in close combat and firearms. She does not hesitate in using lethal force. On the contrary, Saurians have the advantage of eating their enemies and absorbing their knowledge and characteristics. For example, she killed and ate a member of a water race and developed gills and learned where the spaceport was located.

On a power level, we are looking at guys with low level or no powers. In DTMs thread it was guys like the Punisher, Spiderman, Dr Midnite. The guys we have so far are really good. They are of the level I am looking for. Lets just get a few more.

But I would like to change my Stryker nomination. If possible I want to chnage it to Backlash, from Image. He can turn into mist and form back, it does wear him down if he uses all the time, and has whips that come out form the backs of his hands. Outside that he has no other superpowers. He was the hand to hand combat trainer for Stormwatch. He years of experience, and is an awesome character.

Info on Paul
Paul the Samurai is the Arch enemy of the Ninjas. He is the last remaining Samurai, and is more then a little neurotic. He has single handly been waging a war against the crack Ninja troops in Japan, and when their leader comes to America to over see the recapture of the Thorn of Oblivion, Paul follows him here. He teams up with the Tick, but in the end must start a detective agency so he can get the money to return home (after helping to shatter the ninja empire).
Paul is serious, and driven. He can never draw his Katanna and sheath it unless it draws blood. As he's a little excitable he tends to have lots of band-aids on his hands from having to cut himself before putting his sword away. Paul is a master of all matial arts, and a supremely skilled swordsman. He is about as quick as is humanly possible (in fact the ninja lord even says he could not hope to prevent Paul from crossing a rough top and stopping him from killing his hostage). When Paul comes to America he holds the Watering Crane position for the entire flight in a wheel well (so stamina is immense too), then gets off the plane and beats the stuffing out of the ninja mob that has been dispatched to kill him with his loaf of french bread (he bakes his katanna into a loaf of french bread to disguise it so he can bring it to America with him).
He then proceeds to beat the carp out of every ninja he comes across with his loaf of french bread, even threating the high and mighty ninja lord with bits of it still stuck to his sword.
All ninjas in this contest will basically keel over and die vs Paul. He's just a fun char, but then that's what you expect from a Ben Edlund character.

Healing factor I believe for Deathblow. (I thought about nominating him too.) Thats all I can remember, he gained it back in the day when Team 7 was exposed to the gen factor experiment. He was young then, but it didn't show up for many years, they thought it failed to work on Deathblow when others recieved crazy powers from it. Plus he and all old Team 7 members can sense when each other are around, i.e. my Backlash nominee.
How about Marv from Sin City or Jody from Preacher? to tired to write up a description, so if someone can provide one or the other, or I will try to do one tommorow.

I'll throw in my second nomination now-Arwyn. She has Ayden's bow, which uses a neverending supply of energy arrows, which explode on contact. she also is an above average hand to hand fighter, and always has a sword with her. Her speed and strength are above average for a human female, but has an incredibly high willpower.
Here is a Marv summary that I stole from a web page that I think is pretty good.
Living in Sin City is not easy ... At least not for Marv who, after being a loser his whole life, met the woman of his dreams one night only to wake up next to her corpse the following morning. He had slept through her murder, for he was drunk. Marv had been defined by his only friend Dwayne as a person out of time. He would have been an excellent gladiator: simple, but deadly. Marv lives by his very own code and it includes protecting women and children by any means necessary. Hence, that morning he only knew one thing for sure : somebody was going to pay. The first thing he did was to break a few skulls to find out who did it. Problems began when he realized that very powerful people might be related to that murder. He also discovered that Goldie had used him for protection, but he did not give a ####. He followed the murder trace from street rats to Kevin, a mysterious cannibal who never spoke, and then to Roark, head of Sin City church and practically everything else in the city. Even simple-minded Marv realized that he was following the path to his own death. Marv had no superpowers, unless stubborness, high resistance to pain and ugliness might be considered as such. Hence, he murdered Roark with no regret and was fried in the electric chair.
Now me again
Like most ground level hero's it is hard to gauge skill and toughness without seeing him in action. Marv is by many accounts the toughest character Frank Miller ever penned. When he finds someone who can outfight him by manuverability, he takes hit to handcuff the guy to himself, then keeps taking hits to take the guy down and out. Like most Sin City characters, he comes to a bad end, but still manages to taunt his executioners after the first go round in the electric chair fails to kill him.
Jody is an even harder one to describe without seeing him in action. Here is a web description of him
Jody is much more dangerous. The man is bad, quick and remorseless and knows his way in the art of bloody killing anything alive. He taught young Jesse how to fight and beat the #### out of him quite often. His last words before Jesse strangled him were 'how proud I am of you'.
The only real "power" he ever demonstrated was a resistance to "the word" which doesn't really bear on this contest. He is a vicious fighter, hand to hand or with guns and almost guarenteed to do something so brutal and unexpected that it will throw even a hardened character. In my eyes he was one of the most up front evil characters comics have ever come up with. His creators apparently think so to, as demonstrated by the following real life conversation my friend Tom and I had with Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon at San Diego Comicon

ENNIS: Jody, why do you want Jody? DILLON(sketching): That bastard still gives me nightmares. Im glad we killed him. IM GLAD WE KILLED HIM(finished sketch) ENNIS:(puts hand on Dillon's shoulder to calm him) DILLON:(laughs nervously and hands Tom sketch)ME: Um, could I get Cassidy then please?

dude, no, don't even put flash gordon in, it's game over for everyone if he's in.
I love Flash to death, but it's so not a fair fight if he's in. He's Flash, he simply never looses, ever.
Conan would rock as would Tarzan and Phantom though.
Maybe stick in John Carter instead of Flash.
Wouldn't you want to see Flash Gordon square off with the Phantom or Conan? They never lose either. Something has to give!

Max - the small white rabbit from Sam and Max. Sam and Max are Freelance police who get all kinds of odd and bizzare cases to tackle. Max is the small, fiesty, psychotic lagomorph that is basically thrown at any problem. He bites evil demons of the underworld on their heads and destroys Death Spheres by flicking on his lighter in the sewage compactor. Sam and Max are routinely saved from impossible circumstances by stupid, and banal heros that make you go 'what on earth?' (such as Sgt. Flip and the Rubber Pants commandos, or the Howling Cephlopods)

My second Nomination will be Ozymandias (I think that's how you spell it) from Watchmen.
Ozy' physical body is at or near the peak that a human body can possibly be. He is an incredible combatant who has beaten a world famous crime fighter in personal combat (Rorshach) while having a conversation with someone and eating dinner, without being touched. He is either alert enough or so good at judging his opponents attacks that he can defend himself from attacks even from behind. He can also catch bullets fired even as close as three feet from him with only minor cosmetic injuries to his hands. In addition to being physically dangerous he is also a master of several scientific fields and an incredible planner, having masterminded an intricate multi-layered scheme to create wolrd peace that only a handfull of people were even aware of(and that handful did not inculde most of the people involved in its execution) as well as finding a way to hide his activities from an entity that could see through time and was essentialy omniscient in all other regards.

True he can catch bullets but compare that to someone like Deathstroke, or Wolverine, they can disreagrd machine gun fire. Plus Ozy is unarmed.

I saw it earlier posted, I want Raphael.
I agree that he is very gifted, but he is really nothing more than a very well honed human fighter. I would say he is in, but it seems like he is on the bubble. Since we have drug this out a while I will open up noms. to those who have already nominated, you may nominate an additional person(except JayThor who has four in the game already:p ).
SteveRogers:Since I have opened it up for more nominations, I will put Snake Eyes in. I had forgotten he was in Image, and I think the silent assassin fits this tournament level well. This will put us to 28.

Well for number three then I'm gonna nominate Captain Nemo from League of Extrodianry Gentleman
Captain Nemo is an infamous pirate that captains a submarine (called "Nautilus"). He is a ruthless and skilled fighter, he can be seen weilding a sword as well as a harpoon gun of his own devising that functions as a low tech machine gun. Nemo has been witnessed to hold off squads of trained and/or experienced and armed individuals single handedly or alongside one of his fellow Leaguers, Mr.Hyde, with this and lesser weapons. He has been described as being even more ruthless than the infamous serial murderer Mr.Hyde.
I missed the limitations, so thanks for the kind words and the noms being accepted! I promise no more for this level, though I had a couple in mind, I'll keep them to myself.:grin:
I can't wait to see who you have for the next few battles, other than Supreme!!!:p
I am going to add another competitor.
Archer(Valiant)-Archer is an expert marksman, has an incredible agility, is an above average hand to hand fighter. He also has a high willpower and above average human strength. He is always in posession of a crossbow and quiver of arrows.
I am going to take nominations until this evening. Tomorrow we will do any weeding out that is needed, and the games will begin either after that or the next day.

I think they would be good because Casey is just a little less powerful than most, but he can dish it out with the best of them

Yeah!!!! I can nominate any person, make mine Ballistic from Cyberforce of old school image days. She has technological enhancments, and she perfect aim, she can throw a knife and hit someone running close to 200mph. She can throw stuff and almost always hit. She used drinking straws as dealy weapons. She carries with her a machine gun, knives, and a hand gun. More info in a few minutes, get my source book out.

I think the only one who doesn't really fit is Max.
I don't know, he just kinda seems out of place here.

Ozymandius is a bit on the powerful side, but I think with Conan and Tarzan in the fight, he fits.

PDB-I think you are thinking of The Maxx, the big purple guy who had an animated version of the story by Sam Kieth on MTV. It is my understanding that this is a different character. The big purple Maxx would be a great idea for the Heavyweights, but is too strong here. If it is the same person, then I misunderstood Maniac_mnt's description.

no it's not the same person. Max is the other half of Sam and Max, freelance police. They have several comics by stever purcell, and were made into a Lucas Arts video game of the same name. Max is also the large psycotic blaster wiedling rabbit that makes a cameo in the Dark Forces series games. Plus for a while they were a fox cartoon show.
Sam is a large dog dressed in a grey suit who is always eating popsicles or similar (in a spoof of many detective shows where the lead is always chewing on a toothpick, or sucker). His prefered weapon is an oversized dirty-harry-esqe six shooter.
Max is his diminutive, mentally unstable partner. There are very few problems that can't be solved by just tossing max at them and letting him go spare. Sam usually makes fun of his little pal, and Max seems to enjoy it. Not the most accurate shot, Max makes up for it with lots of shots, and a the approach that violence solves everything.

hate to say it because she rocks pretty hard but I think Lizard Lady is overpowered for lightweight, at least in her most current form. Ozy is probably my next vote (now if we had plugged Rosarch or the Comedian in there...)
I'm gonna vote for:
Ballistic-she carries weapons capable of killing anyone in the list and cannot miss with them, therefore she beats everyone easily.

Ok, I agree Ballistic is too much for this group. She can hit 99.2% of anything she aims at. Plus her weapons are way high tech, so I will withdraw her from this tourny.
Ozymedias is my second vote.
