...or, "How posts of a like type should be entered into the same thread."

So, I know a LOT of people were mad over the weekend, and understandably so. Further, you came to the right place to talk about it, here, on this site, where other like minded people would be available to discuss it with.

However, one think that irked me was that the moment a good number of people got mad and started posting, many acted like the rules and guidelines of using a forum were thrown out the window.

Here's the thing: HCRealms hosts Forums for different topics. Within the forums are threads. Threads are composed of individual posts.

Once a Thread is created regarding a specific topic, that's where all other posts regarding the same topic should go. Each post does not require a new thread that is simply a variation on the theme.

This maxim was not followed, and we end up with a morass of threads, all voices shouting the same ideas, but none really heard. Especially on a hot issue like this one was (or is), these posts need to be concentrated into a few threads, not spread throughout the entire site. By concentrating these posts into a few key threads (for example, maybe one for each day, what have you), the discussion can build upon itself, instead, members that wish to become part of the conversation are tossed to the wind, trying to chase down relevant threads.

This is not the kind of thing you will probably ever get "warning points" for (unless of course you are blatantly spamming, but that's another issue), however, in the future, do not be surprised to see many like threads popping up all at once merged into a single thread. After all, this is the reason we "sticky" threads like "Official Unleashed Pulls Thread" and "WizardWorld LA - Sound Off" at the top of the General Discussion thread. - Thanks

Part II, or..."Welcome to the internet..."

Welcome to HCRealms. Unlike the real world, you will never be judged here by the way you look, how tall you are, what you smell like, how straight your teeth are (or aren't), or any other physical characteristic. On the internet, or more specifically, on a message board, you will only ever be judged by your thoughts and ideas, and how well you convey them via the words you type.

Think about that last part for a minute. You have probably never met most of the people here in real life. All you can judge them by is what they type here. And the same is true for you...everyone else is judging you by what you type here. This is why things like spelling and grammar ARE important, to a certain extent. Your words are all your thoughts and ideas are being judged on. Make them count!

So why not delete the threads?

Seriously. Rather than just sit back and watch it happen, why not fix it.

Sorry if this is rude.

Okay, it's the end of heroclix and HCrealms as we know it...Thugit has apologized for something he has said. ;)

And it's just that simple.

Sorry if this is rude. We're not trying to control the conversation or censor anyone. Everyone is welcome to their voice.

The point of this is too keep like conversations together. And to keep particularly heated topics from overrunning the forum.

And no, that wasn't a rude question.

Also there is something to be said if a Wizkids rep logs on to the site and all ten topics are about how everyone is upset at Wizkids. That's a surefire indicator that something might be wrong.

Ultimately we got an apology on account of the en masse rage sessions directed at WK. More than that would have been nice, but with reason we got all that a normal person could give us.

There weren't that many Galactus threads and the traffic tended to be concentrated in a few busy ones as you are wanting. The issue controls itself by natural evolution. If a thread gets posted to then it stays hot and is bumped to the top. If it isn't, then it drops out of view.

More important is to keep people on topic. The topic of this board is HeroClix not the attitude of other forum members. The worst offenders are people who whine about whiners - they start threads all the time like this one:

http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87246

This has been moved to Another Realm and that's being generous - I think they should just be deleted as they are playing at moderator wannabes and we have more than enough moderation already.

Merging me-too froth is ok but you need to be careful. I once spent hours preparing and writing up some special Christmas scenarios. I took great care in their presentation and so was incensed when a moderator merged them into another scenario thread without so much as a by-your-leave.
My reaction was to edit all my material out of that thread and never post anything like that again here. If you think you know best how to present such material then I suggest that you start with azs and Ravenproject's figure reviews. Merge all those threads together and see how they like it.

I think warden has a point here . . .

:ermm: if this is true, why hand out warning points? (I obviously know the reason warning points are handed out. Just pointing out the contradiction)

You are by far the weirdest poster I've ever encountered in the Realms, and I was around when Demosthenes was spouting off about Powerbomb!
