View Full Version : Ok, I'm just more than a litle ticked off

6. Articles can be in any of the following subjects: strategy, unit analysis, team analysis or ability analysis.
For two weeks I had this guideline on contest submissions for the article contest waved in front of my face. There were articles written in said contest area about how my article had no place being there, and it's STILL there.
I decided to try and be the better man and requested the judges move my article to a more appropriate section since there were MANY HCRealmers who said my article on how to be a better HCRealmer wasn't an article on strategy, unit analysis, team analysis or ability analysis.
Now people have been posting their private messages to the contest board. Now people have been writing about how they got a Galactus or the good times they had at a convention.
I'm sorry, but for this post OLD school Shin-Goji is coming back. I put aside my past and tried to share something different and helpful to the Realms. What did it get me, a slap in the face and constant jibes about how innapropriate my article was, even to the point of plagarism. Some nobody called GambittheKing, who hasn't posted a single post, writes an article criticising me and "Oh yeah, Scorpion roxxors, that's my point." Sounds like a duplicate ID to me, since the real persona didn't have the huervos to publicly say anything.
Well now where has my article been moved? Oh, let's see...Oh yeah! It's been moved to the Strategy/Tactics section! Wow! So it DID fall under guidelines.
I suppose I should take solace in the fact that my Sentinel Data File 001 is the number 1 or 2 article overall, but before some of these choadmonkeys have the moldy gobblewhompers to criticise ME, maybe they should take a look at themselves. Just because they couldn't write their way out of a wet paper bag is no reason to get jealous. There are some #### good articles up there right now. #### good ones.
*Playing the Villains
*Surviving and Winning at HeroClix Conventions
*Give a hand to the Veteran Hand Ninjas
But what do we see jockeying for position?
*I had completely given up hope of getting big G....
*Why my left nut should be a clix
*Firelord roxxors suxxors!
To hell with this noise! Learn to practice what you preach, and thank you VERY much for getting me ticked off enough that I had to go bipolar on everyone, and go back to an attitude I've been trying to get rid of for the better part of a month!
Funky Jett, get me my Prozac, it's obviously worn off.

What a way to brighten up my day, cheers.
Shin, your only bipolar? I thought you at least were tripolar ;)
Honestly, I couldn't agree with you more, a lot of these articles just simply do not belong.........

I am sorry I have gone off like this, especially after I have tried an attitude adjustment. But I've held my tongue for weeks now and it's like being told you're worth about as much as a hill of clixpoints.
Yeah I have to agree. Most of these "articles" are pointless drivel.

Well, I never noticed all those carppy articles on the home page, but I have to agree that they don't belong on there.
I read your Sentinel write-up a while back and it was great, so I gave it a 5 rating:)

You know, I had forgotten the rules when I posted my article. I guess I'll try to move it. I never criticized your article, I enjoyed it. I hope my 'Good times...' was not pointless drivel to folks, but if it was....oh well, I thought some might be interested in it.
Sorry to interupt your bipolar event;)

S hin-goji,
That's right nice of you to say -- thanks. I'm sorry to hear you took so much flak for your own article. Where is it again? I'd like to have a look.
This message has been condoned by the ruler of Latveria.
You are still the man in my book, Shin. ;)
BlueAndorian: I actually liked your article :) Nice to see something positive about LA. Don't think it should be in the contest thingy but I did like it. I've seen an article or two with some blantent rules errors, and ......well not my place to critisize.

You know, Shin. I totally agree with you. Especially the part that you don't quite state outright: there needs to be some kind of filter on all the junk postings people put up as "articles". I don't even look in that section much anymore because it is little more than another message board at this point.

Actually it's almost worse. At least with the message boards if you have mistakes (like Tarnish mentioned) someone can actually post where you flubbed up. Of course, that's for the ones that actually have a topic...:cheeky:

Shin for all its worth, thanks for the time. Your sentinel data files were great, especially since I learned how to play one from it. Your article/s are a carp load better than most of whats gone thru here, and your one of the few people of whom I read posts from. Around my area even people actually know you by name, well as shingoji. Stupid people get attention, smart people are remembered. Keep it up man.

Thanks for the support and apologies for my quadpolor event. The con carticles while off topic are positive which the realms can use a lot of. I did follow my own article's guidelines at least in that I didn't post off diarrhea of the fingers in an instant, this is something that has been bugging me for weeks now. Because of my past behavior, i should have expected a skeptical public when it came to my attempt at being more positive.
Shin, you're wasting your time trying to be nice with most of these people.
There are some people on the boards who can't post anything without people jumping all over it because of the name of the person who posted it.
I think we need more of the OLD Shin.

Shin,
ALL of the articles that I've read from you have been great; the fact that you used the word "choadmonkey" makes me want to find all of your articles and rate them as high as possible. Repeatedly. It was just that good.
in mentioning my article...I admit tho' that an article on "how to survive conventions" may not have helped in the case of WWLA :disappoin
I will admit, however, that my article is on the border of the contest rules...as much of the advice is general. I did want to make the advice easily available to convention goers, so the articles seemed like a good place for it.
The 'contest' aspect has me a little off-balance: I haven't voted on many articles, but I found myself giving 4-5 for the good ones, and just not voting for the ones I didn't like (talk about grade inflation)...and I haven't voted since I submitted my own.
I've also found the mix of articles to be 'odd': I like the individual figure reviews...but things go downhill fast when the article becomes "Team it with a Doombot/LSH/Taskmaster".
If I could retro-vote for great (non)articles of the past, I would want to see the ballot consist of: the Marquee primers, the Sentinel-philes, the Infinity Gems scenario, the Brood v. Xmen scenario, et cetera.
For myself, I hope to eventually post some scenarios: some with pre-constructed teams, some for more open formats.

I didn't know that the articles were supposed to be for the contest only. I thought anyone could write a piece and everyone could read it. I don't give a flying &*&* about any article contest, but when I want to write or read something different I will.
If I write an article outside the confines of the contest and you don't like it.....don't read it. Then bite me, Darn it, don't you understand the world isn't made to suit you people!

Who gives a #### about the borders of the article....it was a darn good one! You should be happy it's up there, I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Don't worry about other people's opinions on this subject. If it doesn't belong a mod will tell you.

The whole contest is just a joke. The good articles are just bathing in the #### that Shin-Goji talked about.
I bet I could win by drawing a naked lady out of ASCII symbols.

I would love to see how they word the Warning Level on that one :)

Oh no...the return of the "best caboose" list

I vote for Union Pacific. Thier cabooses rock. They are much better than Amtrack.

Oooh, naked ASCII... good call. That'll be a winner for sure.
Is it just me, or is it really good to get to see our old buddy Shin back to form. I know you have done your best to be the nice guy, but it really comes down to this: Do wht you are good at. Shin, you are good at telling people they are, lets say, less intelligent than a steaming pile of monkey poo. Its what you do, and it is one of the many reasons we like you. I am all for you relaxing, but even your shrink will tell you that blowing off steam is a good thing. So instead of kicking the dog or smashing your Skrulls, just let people know how dumb they are. We all will feel better.

Shin, seriously, we're all just in your shadow here. (Now, when's that Sinestro file coming out? j/k)
I'm just trying to figure out why my article for the contest hasn't shown up there yet.

You're also talking about the guy guy who, for the 475th Episode of Twisted Kaiju Theater, paid $60 to have his ex-girlfriend [a stripper and model] come in, lay down naked in front of his Godzilla collection, and then shot an entire episode on her body. I'm not the moral compass to say the least :)
I REALLY need to start reading Kaiju. I think the site is probably about to crash.

Shin, you the man!
I had the fortunate pleasure of reading your article and it was the most articulate work I've seen in a while. It was something that needed to be said, cheers.
As for that firelord article... roxxors and soxxors? What the heck is that? I am offended by l33t sp33k. I am going to insist that be moved. I am sincerely offended.
I also enjoy ranting. Why don't I write an article about it? It would be more relevant to the game than some of the stuff that's up there now.

I have to agree with Shin on this one. While on a lot of subjects, I quietly disagree with him, or comments he's said, I really, really enjoy his Sentinel articles. They are very well written and the dude is just plain witty!
I also agree about the poo-filled water that's treading in the contest section. I feel I have written two great articles (shameless self promotion!) that are being bogged down by articles that don't follow the rules.
Shoot, even if I wouldn't or won't win, I'd still like the chance for people to read them without having to wade through "roxxors" type articles.
shin-goji
03/24/2004, 23:44
Cybervenom, your articles are great, don't let anyone tell you different. Anyoen who has to write an article about roxx usually has them for brains.
