Hey guys, if you're going to be attending WWE, post here, so we all know who will be there representing the Realms community. If you're coming to WWE, make sure you write your HCRealms screen name on your entrance badge so we all know who you are!

I'm not a Ninja lover, but I thought you and your Ninjas would like them.
Personally, Ninjas are like those pesky gnats in the summertime.
I always think of The Tick walking by the row of Ninjas holding nothing but a twig and being totally invisible to The Tick.
Perfect example of Outwit in HC. :cheeky:

Those comics are sweet!
When summertime comes, us Ninja will be VERY pesky at the conventions. Even if noone likes us on here, they MIGHT like us there...:)
I loved that part of The Tick as well.

I'll be seeing you guys out there. I'll be making the trip up from Florida, right after I get home from Japan.
I am sooo ready to play some clicks in person...this is gonna be SWEET!!
I should bone up on my Japanese for you Iceman425.
I was self-teaching myself a few years ago, but, sadly, got lazy about it. :(

I'll also be there......I'm sooooo excited. I hope to see you all and get in some fun games. Have a safe trip all and I'll see you in line :p
I'll be there too.
Also there was another thread about this a little while back where we agreed to all meet at the bar of the Hard Rock Cafe at 7 Saturday night. One hour after the con closes.
The Hard Rock is attached to the Convention Center, so its easy to find.
Sound off here too if you plan on joining us for happy hour.*

Heh, when discussing how much space 4 grown men with luggage would have in my car, my friend said that he would need at least 2 pairs of pants. We asked why, and he said "I plan on throwing up on myself at least once during the trip" I guess this would be as good a place to start as any! I am sooooo in, nothing goes with clix better than a couple of frosty beverages. Even better the hotel is only like a mile away. I can add Philly to the list of cities I have stumbled through late at night! Boston, New York, Miami, San Antonio, Munich.......
Oh, and I will be going to the con too.

Is there anyone sharing rooms or anything? The 'tardog and I haven't got ours yet, but we will get around to it. If anyone wants to share one or has one to share to cut down on costs, post it here. I'm sure I'm not the only one looking into this.

I am in with 4 friends, one is a realmser named KozmikKommando that is mostly a lurker, except his fan-fic in the Fan fic section. I really want to meet some Realmsers this time, I didn't meet many people at MegaCon unless they were dressed like the Punisher, Arwyne, Elektra or Daredevil. I don't think anyone will come over to me simply because I put URLMAKER on my badge... Happy hour sounds good. We can do that before the stri.... er... club hopping.

Hey, DCFan thought the same thing when he was at WWChicago, and lo and behold I played against him our first Battle Royale of the convention. He's not near the prick he may come off as being on here (and noone was trying to beat him up either).:)

Kepplock,
I can't give specifics about the games that will be going on, because I'm sure they'll be different from last year. But I can say that there will definitely be sealed events going all three days.
As for parking, the convention center area is one of the few places in the city where it isn't much of a problem. If you're staying overnight, check with your hotel. They'll let you know where the best place to park is and you might be better off just leaving your car and walking or taking public transportation. By the center are a pretty fair amount of open lots which aren't too expensive, especially if you get in early. Its also pretty close to the Gallery which has a nice size garage.
Where you coming from in South Jersey? I live in Marlton. The wife works in Philly.
MKelly - Yeah, it'll be cool to meet you. Iceman and I have already said we're getting together. If you guys need anything, let me know.

They're my favorite part of the con. For those of you who don't know what a Battle Royale is...
The Envoys wait until 8 people sign up for one, Based on Universe (either Marvel or DC. I guess Indy will be included this year as well...), you buy 1 booster of whatever set you guys choose, I think they were $5...you open your booster and that is your team. You play 4 people to a map, on 2 maps. Once two people are completely KO'd from each map, the "Final 4" get together on one map, and duke it out until there is only 1 team left standing.

Actually Cap they have changed the format slightly (at least this was the case at WWTX). You are now paired with someone based on dice rolls. If you or your partner is taken out completely then you are both done. Its a good idea but the pairings tend to hold their alliance into the last game even though it is supposed to be every one for themselves.

03/24/2004, 15:40
Battle Royale with cheese......you know why they call it that don't you? :p
Man, I'm looking forward to this more and more. Regardless I think its gonna be tons of fun. A quick question, I only have advanced tickets for 1 day. I'm now thinking that maybe I should stay another day, would it be wiser to get it now or can I get it there, and if so can I get it the day before or does it have to be the day of the con. Thanks ;)

I think after WWE last year they added the shrinking board part to it also. So that campers couldn't get by by being ignored.

The new way isn't that bad. I forgot to mention that they mark 4 squares in the middle. If you and your team mate are the only ones occupying any of those squares you get to give one piece on the board a click of damage that can't be reduced. It gets real messy in the last "you're on your own" round as you have no more team mates to work with.

Mar-vell,
Great! Thanks for the info. I've been to a few Flyers games at the old spectrum and finding good parking was a pain. I'll probably try to get there nice and early to get in the Galactus line. Not sure if I'll do any gaming. I'm barely up to speed on the old rules, much less the new ones. I'll probably try to watch a game or two.

Anyway back to WWE. To those that have been. Should I get Friday off of work or should I just stay for SAT and SUN?
Someone mentioned that they didn't notice the Hard Rock Cafe when they were there last year.
While I've always known there was a HRC in Philly, it wasn't until a few month ago I knew it was connected to the convention center.
This would have been good news for those of us who waited out in the rain last year to get a table at another restaraunt!
Also last year I tried to get people to meet for breakfast at the farmers market across the street. It bombed. Nobody showed.
I guess I need to know my audience.
Breakfast = indifference.
Beer = hordes of smelly gamers.

For one, it costs the same to attend for 2 or 3 days.
Also, if you plan on gaming, the extra day is good for checking out the con before you lock yourself in a room with little clickies for 2 days.
There's not a lot going on Con-wise on friday though. Maybe some signings, but only a few panels and other exhibits. Still, if you're looking to do shopping, you can get to the goods before the weekend crowd cleans out the dealers.

As for a hotel, I don't know what the prices are, but if you check out any number of online resources from hotels dot com to priceline, you can probably get a decent deal.
Even better if you split it with friends.
Though any way you slice it, it won't be cheap.
Also, the 3 day pass is $40, or $20 a day for singles. (I think, don't hold me to that.)

Yeah, whatever you do, don't use the listed hotels for the conference. Those are really nice and at upwards of 150 to 165 a night. The budget hotel listed is sold out already. Anyway from what I hear the city tourist board (google?) has much better deals listed. I would expect 100 or less per night if you find someplace a few blocks away. (guestimate)
Con badges are 20 bucks a day OR 40 for the 3 days.

I came last year and would quite like to come again as I know Philly well and have lots of friends there. But last year the attractions were: the MW nationals - appalling organisation; the Marvel Worlds - not much better; the Battle Royales - outrageous turtling and collusion; and the rest of the show - extortionate dealers and otherwise completely forgettable. This year we have the added attraction of camping on concrete for Galactus. Hmm.
The only reason to go seems to be the chance to have fun with you guys. That's cool but I can do that here too. I'm still thinking about it ...

they've apparently changed the Battle Royale format to avoid collusion, it's posted earlier in the thread warden... It seems that the rules change every time they run this. They're actually written down now but they are not easy to find. But I'm good at tracking this stuff down so here's a link to make it easy:
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/documents/HeroClix_Tournament_Rules.pdf
You'll see that there are two versions - standard and team rules. At WWLA, the standard version was used and, surprise, surprise, we hear that there was collusion again. As for the turtling problem - there are other variants which have been tried to fix this - shock the turtle, king of the hill, whatever. They have not been documented and so it's anybody's guess whether these will be used at WWE or whether the envoys in charge will come up with some other fix. There's no way to know because the envoys haven't been selected yet and probably won't been assigned until the day itself.
Of course, that's just a side show. What really matters is the Worlds. That document contains rules for that but there's a disclaimer too :6.2 Changes to World Championship Format and Rules
Due to the unpredictable nature of the convention environment, format and rules may be subject to change, although WizKids will take every possible measure to prevent this. In the event of a change in format or rules, a message will be posted to the HeroClix forum on the WizKids website, and announcements will be made at WizKids gaming area and booth at the convention. That's not unreasonable but phrases like "every possible measure" are just fluff.
Andrew

I'm not suggesting that you live in Camden, just that that might have been your car.Well, it wouldn't be the first time a car mysteriously showed up in Camden without the owners knowledge!
I live just outside Philly, and while I do venture into Jersey on rare occasion (when its unavoidable), I do try to steer clear of Camden.
That, and my license plate doesn't say 'AZS'.

I am not going to mention those websites you go too that involve small furry rodents, or even though not all of us have to pay for it, some of us don't need to turn the lights off just to get through it.

Betsons?
Well I just found this thread again. The e-mail notification told me I didn't have access to this thread anymore, so I figured it got deleted. Man doesn't that always get me. I don't care if a thread gets deleted, but I really like to read the stuff that causes it, it can be pretty funny stuff. But I am eternally curious.
How much do you guys want to bet that there's someone bound and gagged in Rogan's car?
Seriously... He's doing everything in his power to get dozens of possibly psychotic gamers to come stay at his house and see his handcuffs.
Creepy.
Man this Galactus thing really turned out to kick WizKids in the a s s! Alot of people need to realize first off how big WizKids and Wizard promoted it. The amount of $$$ they spent on promoting come be the first to get your Galactus at WWLA or it will be at WWLA, ect. The way they posted and worded their ads it seemed like everyone and their mother could get one. Hell the very first thing you show when you got your badge and looked at the program for the show was a big a s s Galactus on the front cover. Telling everyone come and get it and be the first in no specific words. The false messages they portrayed in their ads of giving people false hopes. Having everyone attending the show think they could get one relatively easily. That just was plain wrong. It was funny one the first day of sale as soon as the doors opened. Security people said to a big mod trying to get into the show (to be the first to get Galactus) "don't run". Well guess what happens when you tell a mod that big not to run? THEY RUN! They got lucky no one got hurt too bad. I felt sorry for some of those I heard got stepped on during the running of the bulls for Galactus. All in all the show was a total cluster F@%K and it wasn't just WizKids. The whole show was a miss. Wizards didn't know what was going on half the time. The signers were late over and over. They had to be reminded where to go and sign at what times. During the whole show it seemed like all I heard was ------ ------your suppose to be signing at booth #----. Please show up there. There is a line waiting for you or something to that effect they said on the intercom. WizKids logistics was all missed up. They kept running out of this and that. They forgot to bring or didn't get curtain promos for the show, ect. Poor company Reps. at the show you can tell by the look in their eyes they thought they had an easy assignment, because they kept running out of excuses for their companies screw up. People yelling at them over and over, lmao. The Envoys were very friendly and helpful. They made the best out of all of it. They tryed to calm people down for WizKids major screw up. Of course WizKids turns around and blames them for the near riots. It's pretty sad when big company's start blaming their volunteers for their screw ups. Oh did I mention the back door sales going on. I saw people with like 8 bag of Galactuses (how the hell needs 8 Galactuses?) and dealers buying them on the side from WizKids without getting in line. Stuff like I'll hook you up if you hook me up was not heard just from ears. As you all read or have read the different posting on WWLA happening. I have been to many, many shows and conventions. It is very advisable that you hear my next words of advise. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY GOING TO A WIZARDS CONVENTION!!! They don't know how to run one and all they care about in the $$$ you put in their pockets in the long run. Well hoping this is helpful to you all and if any of you have any Galactuses just laying around the house. Send one my way please :)

Yeah Maraxus, please keep the Galactus talk to the "Complain about Galactus" forum, formerly known as "General Discussion."
1. I don not want thugit staying at my house, he'll scare my pets.
2. A "nipple cap" incident will NOT be occuring, as yeti might get the wrong idea.
3. There will be no egging of my car. I have an arsenal that puts ro_gan's Trooper barracks to shame. ;)

Herd it on 790 this morning.
He walked into the gate and some guy said.
"Hey look everybody it's Richard Simmons, let's all drop our bags and sweat to the oldies"
And then Simmons slapped him.
I couldn't stop laughing when I herd this.
The guy pressed charges and Simmons was sited for assault and allowed on his flight.

When exactly do tickets go on sale? Some friends told me thay've already ordered their tickets over the phone. If you can find a phone number, I'm sure they'll sell you a ticket now.
Also to everyone else, I highly recomend getting tix in advance. Not only do advance ticket holders get in a 1/2 hour early! But they also don't have to wait in a HUGE line to get tix the day of. (An hour to 2 hour delay.) And for icing, Wizkids often gives out 1/2 issue reprints (WW exclusives) to advance orders.
The Ultimate Spidey 1/2 that I got last year is supposedly worth $45. The con ticket itself was only $40.
Thanks for the tip, azs.
Now someone just needs to find a phone number and post it here. I'd do it, but I don't want to.
