Okay, I finished reading The New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract this morning.
Thought:
I do realize that Wolfman and Perez intended to kill Terra with the inception of this story. However, does anybody else think that she was way too frickin' powerful? It seems like there were no limitations on her earth-controlling powers other than her sanity and scope. She appeared to be the most powerful out of all the Titans.
Don't get me wrong, it was an excellent story which I enjoyed reading. However, it was very upsetting to have the most powerful Titan be an emotionally disturbed, immature, back-stabbing, evil, lying little girl.
Question:
Is Jericho's death available in a trade paperback? Or will I need to hunt down the issues?

I think that was the point. It messed up the team emotionally for a long time afterwards.
I love the character of Terra, but unfortunately, I think the book had started to slide by the time Judas Contract started. The characters had all become a little too pat.
The glory days of the Wolfman/Perez titans were the first two years, IMHO. Judas Contract was set up in issue 2, but by the time it paid off, it seemed kinda humdrum. The best part of the story is finally seeing more about Slade's background.
I didn't like Jericho, but I like how he came back recently as a villain. I never read his death, but I think that occurs longs after the series was considered to have jumped the shark.

I’m not sure of the feasibility, but it would have been more surprising if Wolfman and Perez revealed Terra’s betrayal in later issues, instead of informing the reader early in the series. Moreover, I think this would have made the story more dynamic and captivating: suspense.
Hmmm...the first two years of Wolfman and Perez’s run on the New Teen Titans were the best? Is this available in trade?
Surprisingly, I enjoyed the book: immensely. However, this is the only collection of Titans stories that I have read. I will be purchasing the Terror of Trigon next. Events I relished in Judas Contract: watching #### Grayson absolve the Robin identity and adopt the moniker of Nightwing. As you mentioned, the origin of Deathstroke is what made the book. I enjoy when talented writers create origins and motivations for characters that weren’t previously noted. For example, when Geoff Johns penned the origin and motivations of Captain Cold. Good stuff!

I think Jericho is uber-cool! However, the costume is strange. Or more accurately, dumb. Also, the presentation of his power in the story is corny: switching to a panel of his eyes with a caption that says, “Contact!”
Wha?! Jericho recently returned as a villain? How recent? You wouldn’t happen to have issue numbers, would you?

Long time no see 4AD. To answer your question, Jericho became a villian in the first arc of the new Titans series by Geoff Johns. It's a pretty good book and is worth picking up.

There is a disturbing lack of trades for any of the Titans.
The first sixteen issues will be available in the near future - as hardback Archive Editions, each containing 8 issues & retailing for about $50 each. Then there's The Judas Contract, then Trigon. And that's it for Perez/Wolfman. The JLA/Titans crossover that launched the new Titans series is collected, but none of the issues from the actual series are.
I do have to disagree with implication from IM that everything after the first 2 years was never as good. Who is Donna Troy is still one of the most emotional issues of any comic I've ever read, and the first year or so of the Baxter edition of the Titans was good too. Pretty much anything that was Wolfman & Perez was good in my book.

Remember, this was over 20 years ago ;) Man, that makes me feel old, since I can still remember buying those issues. Lots of stuff from the early '80s was dumb or corny.

It's the first 5 issues of the new Teen Titans title. It's scheduled to be released in trade in the next few months.

Thanks for the info Grinner. Guess I won't have to search for those issues...if I can wait.

I guess that wait is only a week. According to the DC website, the Teen Titans trade is going to be released next week, March 31. Collecting issues 1-7.

The first Archive edition of the "New Teen Titans" is already available (think it was published back in '99 actually). It runs for about $35 on Amazon (really one of the best places to order new archives unless you've good luck on E-Bay). It includes their initial "DC Comics Presents" appearance, issues #1-8 and assorted Perez pin-ups.
The second archive will be released in June of this year (along with "Golden Age Sandman" - plug time! :) ). It's up for pre-order ($35) on Amazon.

Grinner, I don't think that it's all bad after the first two years, just that it's nowhere near as good as when it started. NTT was my favorite comic for a couple of years. It certainly had moments, and "Who Is Donna Troy" and the wedding annual were a couple of those. But those first two years were solidly great. Just when one great storyline would wrap, another would begin. You went from Deathstroke to Trigon to Deathstroke to Brother of Evil without catching a breath. And then there's Blackfire and the Starfire/space arc. It was an amazing run.
Judas contract, while a solidly good story, feels like an echo of those first two years. I just reread both the first seven (I bought the Archive, even though I have the originals) and Judas Contract recently, and the difference is clear.
