I must be extremely brief, as I am on my way to have lunch with some friends, but the tournament is fast closing in and I need to get the info out.

More details will follow later today or tomorrow, but the essentials are as follows:

$20 entry fee.
400 point constructed. DC only. No dupes except generics.
KO points only. Wins are irrelevant. Whoever has the most points at the end of the day wins (and I assume will take the case as their prize).
5 rounds of 60 minutes each.

There will be one prize for every 2 players in attendance. Prizes are the case and LEs. If there are 16 players, there will be 7 LEs given out in addition to the case; if there are 30 players, there will be 14 LEs plus the case.

The tournament is at noon, Saturday April 17th at HobbyTown in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

I will post a list of the LEs and a link to the WK page for the tournament, plus whatever else I've forgotten to mention.

This is not to be confused with the tournament DariusDax1 is running tomorrow. (In fact we had originally set them up for the same day, so I moved mine.) Maybe I'll see some of you tomorrow, in fact.

Wow, I left out some seriously key information. Like an address! (I had my best friend and his g/f almost literally standing over my shoulder, saying "Let's go already! We're hungry!")

The tourney can be found here (http://www.wizkidsgames.com/eventdetail.asp?eventid=294749)

HobbyTown is located at:
17115-C West Bluemound Rd.
Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005

LE prizes that will be given away are:
Maxima of Alderac
Montgomery Kelly
Masahiro Arashi
Keiko

Additional LE prizes are dependant on how many people play. Some of the choicer potential items include:
Kitty Pryde
Bobby Drake
Matt Murdock
Philip Masters (no box)
Michael Jon Carter (no box)
Madame Hydra
Roger Falcone
Sarah
Marc Spector
Calypso Ezili
Elektra Natchios (CM)
Nebula
Hippolyta Trevor-Hall
Donna Troy

I will have further details on the prizes in the coming days. (I know basically how I'll be pooling them, but I don't really have the time to make it clear right now.)

First choice of prize (which I assume will be the case) will go to the winner. Second choice will go to the second place finisher. Fellowship gets third choice. Then 3rd place, 4th, etc., will choose until one prize has been awarded for every two players.

There will be a 30-40 minute break between rounds 3 & 4 to get food. (There's a Subway literally 20 steps from the game room, and I will see what else is in the vicinity.)

I have enough laminated maps for 32 players. I will probably get a few more before then, so maps should not be an issue. I am working on having a stand-by player, so we need not worry about bye rounds if an odd number show up.

I'm probably still leaving some stuff out, but I need to go get some more sleep before I go to work tonight...

If anyone has any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to post!

I signed up about an hour ago. :p

I will definitely be there, to drop off your maps, if nothing else (or to loan you mine if yours aren't done yet - I dropped them off this morning and am leaving in a moment to pick them up if they're done).

I'm hoping you get 28 players. I'm definitely in if it's only $10. If it's $18... I don't know, we'll see.

How cheap must I be, that I'd rather have twice as many competitors, seriously diminishing my chances of winning, rather than pay full price???

Not that I'm expecting them to be in hot demand, but I've got some uniques I can throw into the prize pool as additional choices:

U Vision (glued)
U Wasp (glued)
U Professor X
U Cyclops

U Parasite
U The Key

U Siamese

Ok, here's how it works:
The first five prizes into the pool are the case, Maxima, Sgt. Kelly, Keiko & Arashi. (One could also choose one of the uniques listed above instead.) At 12 players (and every four thereafter) a "pick" gets entered into the pool. The "pick" lets one choose from these LEs (or one of those uniques from above):

Nenora (no box)
Raksor (no box)
Blade (no box)
Rahne Sinclair (no box)

Madame Hydra
Kirigi

Roger Falcone
Sarah
Marc Spector
Calypso Ezili
Elektra Natchios (CM)
Nebula

Hippolyta Trevor-Hall
Donna Troy
"Phasing" Green Lantern

Eddie Nashton
Jervis Tetch (no box)
Thomas Oscar Morrow (no box)

And at 14 players (and every four thereafter) another pick gets entered, this time from the good stuff - what I will call "pick list A." (Ok, they're good only in the sense that they're level 5 LEs [and one's a six])

Matt Murdock
Kitty Pryde
Bobby Drake
Philip Masters (no box)
Michael Jon Carter (no box)

So, for instance if there were 20 players, 1 gets the case, 2 could pick from "pick list A," 3 could pick from the other list (or one of those uniques), plus Maxima, Sgt. Kelly, Keiko & Arashi would be available till someone chooses them. As outlined originally, the winner picks first, then 2nd place finisher, fellowship, 3rd place, etc.

Hopefully, that's not too unclear.

A day or two before I started this thread, there was a fire next door to HobbyTown. HobbyTown did not suffer any fire damage [in fact there was virtually NO fire damage to the other store either; the only casualty was the lettering of their name on the front of the building - one of those big light up name signs, which must have shorted out or something; it was heavily scorched and - by the time I saw it - had been chopped off of the building by the Fire Department], but there was extensive water damage, either from the sprinklers or the efforts of the FD. All their 'clix were destroyed (though Unleashed was not in yet), as well as all their CCG stock and some RC cars (and the cash register as well).

The store manager said they would be open in a week, maybe two. So I went ahead with publicizing the event, though not as much as I might have. Well, it's been just over 2 weeks now, and, as these things go, I was just at the store and they cannot guarantee that they will be open by Saturday. They are *hoping* to be open Thursday, but they are still putting up shelves and the building inspector has to give his stamp of approval before they can reopen. I was hoping that we might help to celebrate their grand reopening with this tourney, but in light of the uncertainty surrounding when that reopening will be (as well as the *extreme* lack of interest the tournament has generated), I am - with great reluctance - cancelling the event.

The following weekend is, of course, the marquee, so if I reschedule it will not be this month. Any feeback will be greatly appreciated, whether positive or negative, public or private. Don't like the format, the price, the prizes? I want to know. I may not be able to change some of those things, but at least I could accurately gauge the interest level.

Hopefully this isn't coming across wrong. My disappointment at the failure of my tournament is as nothing compared to the loss HobbyTown has suffered, and I realize this. I had hoped to bring in some business for them, with a good-sized crowd for this tourney. It would be a small thing, but it's the only thing I can do. Alas, it does not seem meant to be.
