View Full Version : MicroClix: The HeroClix Flash Game

I've recently started playing online via Play By Post, and although I'm having a blast, trying to keep track of moves, fig stats/positions via several references/applications is driving me mad. The Fig Manager and Map Tools CM has come up with are great, but there's no way to save my current game stats other than using a notepad-type app to log my games, and painstakingly recreating fig positions on the map from scratch every time I pick up where I left off on my last post.
The solution was to create MicroClix. Heroclix for Flash.
Build teams. Log moves. Load/save games. All in one program.
Originally, I began my work in Java, but had compatability issues, so I switched to Flash. ActionScript is not the ideal scripting language for something of this magnitude, but the point is I wanted to create a compact and semi-flexible program in a relatively short amount of time. While it is far from perfect, it IS coming along nicely.
However, this process is EXTREMELY time-consuming. I will be ready to release the beta in the very near future, but the fig database will be incomplete. Thus, I will post news and files on my website, hoping that whoever wants to improve
MicroClix can and will. I'm not actively seeking volunteers for this project, but just wondering if anyone else out there is
designing something similar (with Flash).

Wow! Excellent work! If you need a beta tester, that used to be my job title, so I might be of help.
Looking forward to checking it out!

i am somewhat new to the scene (stopped playing at clobbering time and just started up again) so i'm not really familiar with the programs you speak of. I am, however, familiar w/ somewhat similar online programs for Magic...
If you're already familiar with it, then i apologize for saying too much, but basically there's a progam for Magic players called Apprentice which allows players to play over the internet with a database of card information and gui's to display and move the cards as well as for keeping track of tokens and life... it does not however, actively keep the players within the bounds of the rules or restrict the players within their actions.
Is this something similar to what you had planned to implement or are you looking for something that's inclusive of the rules? The reason I ask is it would seem extremely difficult to tweak w/ each rules revision that is released..
spider_ham
04/23/2004, 00:47
 Yes, I am familiar with Apprentice, and actually use it for Marvel VS games online. :) MicroClix is not inclusive of HC rules, so it is up to the player(s) to keep tabs on damage, movement, powers, etc. It's basically a Play By Post utility for online HC gamers. However, for the future I am considering a more advanced version (to be written in C++/C#) featuring a 3D playing field (rotate/zoom) and character animations (movement, combat, etc.). Just imagine Battle Chess for collectable miniatures...
MicroClix won't be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I'm sure someone out there will find it useful. Hope I answered your question!

:ermm: I've atomized the original beta version is favor of redoing the program in isometric form (simulated 3D), for several technical reasons. One, it just plain looks better in 3-D :), and two, I ran into problems concerning the "interactivity" of dials during gameplay. Also, the program kept locking up every time I performed a close-up on specific sections of the map. Pushing the limits of Flash, perhaps?
There were other minor problems, of course, but mostly this decision is based on the fact that I don't have much free time to code, and I would like to make MC the best it possibly can be from the get-go. Sorry for all of you out there who are eagerly anticipating its release, but it's going to take a bit longer to restructure (hopefully, by the release of Ultimates, or early-mid June)! Hang in there!

This looks incredible. Sometimes I don't have time to play heroclix aside from the weekly tournaments. But when I do have time nobody is at home or willing to play face to face. I have been considering playing by post so this looks like a great tool and interface to assist online gameplayers! Look forward to seeing the finished product!
I've dabbled in flash since Flash 4 but haven't really gotten the hang of actionscripting. What you're doing looks pretty schweet.

05/27/2004, 22:51
Thanks for the support, fellow clixers. I took a break from MC for a few weeks, due to an increased work load. Ideally, I'd like to release it when the entire HC library of fig stats and scans are finished, but due to positive response and demand, I might just release an incomplete version for testing purposes. Give me a few weeks to cook up something.

The Beast (aka MicroClix beta v1.0) will be uploaded to my site this coming Friday. If TPTB don't mind :), you can post valid comments in this thread regarding bugs, gameplay issues, interface, desires, etc. once you have downloaded and playtested MC.
Happy clicking!

Looks great! I can't wait to try it. You're the man for even attempting to do this. Since it is flash, it should work on both PC and Mac correct?
spider_ham
06/12/2004, 18:29
You'll need at least Flash 6 installed to play, and it shouldn't matter which platform you're using, although MC works best in *groan* Internet Explorer.

Wow that looks really sweet! Keep up the great work.
Please please please tell me you will be able to play this solo!

Thanks for all the hard work!

06/14/2004, 04:41
To answer your question, ScOttRa-- YES!!! :) Fortunately/?unfortunately, this first version is geared toward solitaire/offline play. Although you wind up managing both teams (Avengers), you can always "play" as your favorite.
Hey if you still need any play testers let me know, I'm on a G4 Mac running OS 10.3.4

Man that looks awsome. Very nice work!
Few questions.
Are there going to be multiple maps to play on?
I dont see any, is there any hindering terrain?
Will you be adding DC into it? or is it in there already? what about Indy?
If DC/Indy will be in, will you allow mixing of universe TA's?
Are there going to be patches for new sets?
Sorry for all the questions. Just woundering. thanx

Sorry, all those questions reminded me of that!

FYI, Wolverine187, the test version (beta) will only feature one outdoor map (the Marvel IC Starter map), two constructed Avengers teams, and yes, hindering terrain, among other types. Eventually, MicroClix will contain the entire catalog of figs (including the "biggies"), allowing for Marvel/DC/Indy and mixed-universe play.
The first "official" version will feature multiple maps to choose from, and I'm even considering "stacked" maps.
Now, go to my site and download the beta version! Do it!

Didn't play 'til the end (it'ds late) but loved what action I got in! :)
One question: If an attack generates knockback do you briefly switch over to the defending player so they can move the knocked-back fig or did I miss something? That was the only thing I could think of . . .
(Just so's you know, it was the 1st of Quicksilver's Flurry attacks that generated knockback on the Hulk! %&*#$ because there were no other enemy figs adjacent :(  )
spider_ham
06/16/2004, 08:41
Yes, skeevo666. You can quickly switch to the opposing team and move the KB'd character (you might also want to log a message to keep track of the action).
Thanks for the feedback! I'll put a Knockback button in v1.1 so you won't have to switch over to move a "knocked" target character! Should've thought of that one earlier...
Hey Clixer,
I noticed on my Mac under OS 10.3.4 that I have to use the arrow buttons to move the hand, it does not respond to the mouse.
Is that normal?
Other then that the only thing I have wished for is a zoom in feature, and I wish you could select a character and then bush a button to see their dial, so you could easily compare your Attack to a figures defense while choosing a target.
THANKS FOR ALL THE EFFORT!
ScOttRa
wow.. impressive!
I look forward to new versions!
spider_ham
06/16/2004, 16:03
Thanks, ScOttRa!
The Zoom feature will be added in v1.1. Originally, the game was set in a fixed "Zoom" mode (12x12), so you had to scroll the map in order to see ahead/move/fight characters off the default viewable area; It won't take that much effort to reincorporate...
The only way to move the hand (Selector) at this time is with the arrow keys. I'm working on making the game entirely mouse-driven.
Dial information (the current click) is displayed at the bottom of each Team Bar.
As far as viewing character dials in order to compare attack/defense values, the Combat button already allows you to do so, but will declare a [combat] action in the log when pressed. Or, you could always make a visual comparison by glancing at the AV/DVs.
If you're implying a feature that works similarly to the Combat button, but for comparitive purposes (won't declare an action), that can be arranged. I'll create a "Compare Target" button (a crosshair) in order to make temporary value comparisons; a message will be sent to the game log.
Or, perhaps, you meant something more visual (a popup window)? Interesting possibility. I'll see what I can do!
This is tragic Spider_ham! I sat at work playing a game of clix with myself for a while.. lol
my only concern for this is that WK doesn't think you are "infringing" on their game.. because technically with a flash version games could be played with no $$ invested in the game itself...
Though when you think about it the play by post is the same way.. I don't neccissarily HAVE the pieces I've stated I'm using..

Hear ya, DemonRS!
I'd gladly remove/alter MicroClix if WK ever gave me a big thumbs down! :( However, programs such as Apprentice exist on a similar level-- they're free, and utilize official card/fig images/stats. I just don't see online "post" gaming impacting Upper Deck's or WK's profits. WK's main target demographic is 12-21 year-olds, with the majority of them being "meat" players (offline), who neither have the time nor resources necessary to get online and play. MicroClix is a few steps ahead of text posting, but it's essentially the same thing-- just more advanced.
Then again, I'm using the actual fig images, but WK makes them public by posting them in their figure galleries for viewing. However, I must make it clear that I am in no way attempting or intending to break copyright/trademark laws by using their photos. I've also created and collected several hundred Microheroes that could replace them (hence the name MicroClix), if the need to do so ever would ever arise...
Besides, playing a physical game of HC is a more visceral and enjoyable experience, which doesn't compare to any electronic version. :) I support WK by purchasing their product, and will continue to do so until they stop makin' figs.
*Still waiting for that Master Mold big fig, guys!

ScOttRa:
No offense intended by that comment! I'm an "older" player, myself! :noid: The TG should be 12-70 year olds! I know a few "vets" who can kick arse with the best of `em!

I might just switch back to using my Microheroes-- it gives the game a bit more "originality," and a greater comic feel. Thanks for the support!

I'm afraid you are making the wrong choice, but I understand the fear.

Here's the deal, guys:
After much consideration, and given the positive response and interest, I will continue to work on MicroClix. :)
However, major changes must be made to make it as WK-friendly as possible. MC will still feature "smart" icons that generate action-related text, but official pics/symbols will not be provided. I will use Microheroes images to represent figs. For the sake of reference, the PAC feature will remain.
I have added an additional disclaimer to my site stating as such, and if ever WK does feel the need to contact me for any reason, I will welcome any opinion(s) and carry out any requests they make of me without question.
As the Beatles put it: "We can work it out."
Awesome news that you are going to continue work on MC. After an 8 month break, I want very badly to get back into heroclix, but hesitate going straight into my local tourneys considering all that I have missed and need to learn, and came back here to find if any advances have been made in the online department and was extremely happy to see that there was indeed.
If you need any help, with hosting or otherwise, I would be more than happy to do what I can to help you out. I could always be a mirror for files when they become posted if needed. Just let me know, good luck and keep up the great work.
spider_ham
06/19/2004, 07:56
Thanks, Wix.
MC v1.1 is fairly toned-down, but I've improved on the playability (too many icons/restrictions in the beta). The newest feature allows players to select their starting maps (four outdoor Marvel/Indy) and teams (constructed X-Men, Brotherhood, Titans and Indy lineups).
you could also not put ANY stats or characters in and have it at the begining of the game ask how many pieces and you have to define their stats (and it would show in the message box to the right)
Keep up the awsome work!
quick question, when will the next version be out?? :)
spider_ham
06/19/2004, 16:00
DemonRS:
As far as "stats" go, the Fig Editor portion of the MicroClix Manager will allow you to add fig stats/powers to a database, then load your figs/teams when you start a game. This makes it easier than having to manually add fig data EVERY time you use the program. Same deal with maps. Although, after reading your comment, I might integrate the editor(s) with the main program... I'll experiment with that feature in v1.3. Thanks! :)
The next version should be up by Monday or Tuesday, at the latest. Teams are still "hardcoded" for test purpses; I want to have all fig stats/data retrieved externally ASAP. :knockedou
spider_ham
06/22/2004, 05:52
The new version is up. A few bugs remain, but they can easily be avoided (read the FAQ for more info). I'm still working on the database-- hopefully, you won't be stuck with the included teams for too long!
:) Happy Clixing! :)
excellent second release... now if only the other teams could compete with that avengers team.. ;)
Every other team is great for under 300 pts it's a decent vs. battles.
but the avengers come to something like 700 pts.. I'd say the game would be slightly in their favor.. ;)
spider_ham
06/22/2004, 16:11
DemonRS:
Thanks! I forgot to change the Avengers' team data to R status; the V Thor and Iron Man really push the odds in their favor! I almost included DC teams (Bat Family, JSA, JLA and KC), but I didn't want to delay the release.
For v1.2, I'm hoping to add Big Fig support (Sentinel, Sinestro, Galactus), more maps (four indoor) and an "Edit Team" feature where player can choose their characters/TA.
Can't say for sure when I'm going to release that, since work is pretty hectic as of late.
I might issue a re-release of v1.1 with the corrected Avengers and additional DC teams in a few days, however. Keep one eye open!
Juventino
06/24/2004, 07:32
Is there a way to save the game?
my eyes are officially pealed.. ;)
spider_ham
06/24/2004, 14:28
Juventino:
I'm working on the save feature-- Flash can be a bit difficult when it comes to saving data! I'm experimenting with different file types (TXT, XML, SQL) to determine which is the most balanced in terms of scripting and end-user friendly. At the very worst, you'll have to copy and paste data manually, but I don't think it will ever come to that.
Back to the lab!

Spider-Man swings in with Mary Jane and a bag of Hostess Fruit Pies. "Uh-oh. Better get Micro!" Hulk defeately sits down on a car, crushing its hood. Canned laughter booms in the background.
All kidding aside, I took down v1.1 for major changes. I'm adding an Inventory/Army Builder feature and overhauling the interface-- everything will be windowed/collapsible. I'm jumping straight to v2.0-- it's still going to be a solitaire version, but you'll be able to fully customize teams/maps and track PBP games via save.
Anytime soon after v2 are you gonna encorperate thing into it for online play? that would be pretty awesome :)

Just a few comments regarding the next version of HC:
* v2.0 will be off-line, but you will be able to create/customize characters and teams
* Map size is user-defined (for mini-maps and custom/scenario games)
The source (Flash MX) will be included with the game for those wishing to modify/add features, since I'm extremely busy as-of-late and won't have any time to continue working on MC for a long while.

Wow..this looks awesome Spider-ham! Wish I'd found this sooner...I've been wanting to get back into PBP games, and this looks like it would beat the pants off anything else I've seen. Great work!

Oh that's just great! If nobody what's to help each other out and return the favor of DemonRS's initial and helpful distribution, then this program will probably never get very far. In Spider-Ham's last post he encouraged everyone to make a "wishlist" of features. Well how are we to do that when no one is willing to give out the program. Especially to someone that gave it to them in the first place.

I'll dig up and upload an older version of MC to my site within the next few days (hopefully, a more *recent* version, since I don't have access to my backup disc with v1.2 at the moment :( ).
Relax, guys and gals!

The betas are up!
v1.1 and v1.2 are ready to download and test. Post your comments here!
(Note: v1.2 is an updated version featuring figure images-- future versions with feature numerals representing characters, or user-defined, where players can add their own figure pics/scans. And BTW-- I do own all figs displayed in v1.2)

when will we be able to play against other people online?
I was planning on making an online connection hook up for spider_ham's game, but lately ive been working on my Heroclix Online, plus I dont have the source file to it, so I cant integrate anything if I dont know what its running with and was variables it holds. :)

Demon:
At the present, MicroClix uses data from external text files. I've been having trouble working with XML/SQL, due to the combination of a dying/####py computer + recent loss of online capability, which explains the lack of any *recent* development. I'll need to get a working system with Flash installed before I can clean up the source and upload to my site.
Sorry for the delay, clixers!

Slowly, but surely, the new MC is underway...
cool, this time you're making it with C/C++? or are you still going with Flash?
Mines getting a lil further, but hit a speed bump when I started coding the power rules in.

Still Flash, due to portability and smaller filesize.

Definitely like where you are going with this program. I was thinking about doing a similar singleplayer-only version of heroclix (sort of like a trainer) in C++ using the windows API. I was going to use LUA to script the AI and everything. Still may due it in the near future. Your program gave me alot of inspiration though! Keep up the good work!

The first release will allow the user to create local profiles and store custom teams/play against them in Solitaire Mode. I'll try to upload new screenshots sometime this week.

so any new updates on progress, i've almost gotten mine to the point were Beta Testing would actually be worth it. Cant wait to see some screen shots or somethin of yours. Keep it up!

Wow! v2.0 is looking Fantastic!! But I had one question/concern you replaced the images of the figures on the map with colored silouettes. My question is..how would some be able to tell the differance between figures on the same team? I know that you will probably be able to mouse over or click on a figure to see who it is, I did notice the stats in the top right corner, but wouldn't it be easier to be actual figure images on the map for a quick visual way to see who is where? Just wondering. Keep up the great work Spider-Ham!!
spider_ham
11/26/2004, 17:52
Thanks for the feedback, magius!
My primary reason for eliminating fig images on the game board/map is twofold:
1) Keep file size to an absolute minimum
2) Allow players to upload their own images/avatars (figure- and non-figure related) from external sources
Number 2, specifically, allows for more customization. What if you wanted to use a comic scan or customized image instead of a standard fig photo? In the future, I'm planning to render the game board and figs in "3D," so figures represented on the map will be "skinned" (and the actual photo/scan can still be displayed in a separate window).
Incorporating figs on the map means more coding/image manipulation time. After all, there would be 600+ images to import, which means a HUGE jump in file size... Since there are still a significant number of online players using 56K, I have to take every factor into account.

Putting in your own character artwork/image! Wow that's great! The possabiltys are endless. This will be an awsome experiance, a great way to play when you can't get your friends together. I can't wait. Thanks again Spider-ham
spider_ham
11/29/2004, 23:10
I put your suggestion into effect, Magius: players will be able to choose their map "avatars"-- numbered silouettes (team color-specific), or uploadable image attachments. I've found that transparent GIF images of Micro Heroes work fairly well, since the program "downscales" them to the appropriate ratio.
Any more suggestions are welcome, of course, although adding small touches like these means about a few days' worth of code time.
Cheers!

I have abselutely no clue....
Just so you know, Microclix is like soo close to working on my palm pilot it isn't even funny!
now if only I could get the finger to move or the popup menu to scroll down..
infact inclusion of the ability to use the system with only the mouse would make it palm pilot compliant.. :)

use the keyboard is for entering usernames/profiles and typing chat comments. Everything else is fairly intuitive...

My computer suffered the wrath of Firelord last night (i.e. Power Surge), which effectively fried all of my hardware (mobo, RAM, HD...)! Fortunately, I did manage to back up all of my files a few days ago, but it's going to be a while before I replace the key components and get MC back on track. :ermm: At least I have my plastic counterparts to help me pass the time... :)

For some bizarre reason now, the program won't read the dials of team members on the second and greater team slots-- in other words, gameplay can only be realistically limited to Character vs. Character for the time being. Odd, since everything worked fine up until yesterday evening...
I'll still release this "prelim" version for comments/playtesting, but keep in mind that I am working on getting the problem fixed ASAP. Stay tuned! :p

I've been checking out this program for awhile waiting for it to be done, hope its done soon! I was wondering what you used for the database (access, sql or what)
btw CLRxICE has a cool tile mapping program, but I forgot the link :( he was gonna make it fully playable but gave up ½ way. Maybe someone else with some VB+Access skills could convince him to let them finish it. (just a thought)
I do not believe that he uses a Database like that, he uses XML files to hold the team info, but everything else is unknown to me :)
spider_ham
01/19/2005, 23:35
No database (yet). ;)
Team data is stored in a single XML file, while fig/character data is stored separately. Users can access/view characters by typing the appropriate filename (minus the .xml extension) in a field on the Build Screen.
Originally, figure information was stored in set XMLs, but due to overflow errors, I had to resort to individualizing everything. Made programming a bit of a pain. :ermm:

Any ideas what this means, and how to fix it?
Thanks

Snake_Eyes898:
Thanks! Strange error, since I tested MC on other computers after DLing the program, and eveything worked fine. !:ermm:
The problem could be related to the ZIP. I'll try to post the actual SWF (compiled flash file) on my site by this weekend. I just thought that including everything in one package would make things a bit easier for everyone. :disappoin
* * * * *
If anyone else is having similar problems, please let me know ASAP! Detailed problems (like the one above) would be greatly appreciated! :)
It doesn't show any of the Roster characters and none of the pictures, if there were supposed to be any.

Did you click on the folder icon after selecting the set? If there is no figure info in a set file (.set), nothing gets displayed. Also, you'll have to click on the View icon once your are able to highlight a figure in the field.
No figure images are included. However, if you do examine the existing .fig files I've made, you will see the corresponding image filename.
I've just uploaded a new version of MC, available as a standalone flash program, a new ZIP, and a FAQ. Check it out! Hopefully, this will solve any problems you're having! :)

OK so I downloaded the newer verison, unzipped it etc. BUT.....
When I finally got into the game (Saw the screen with the little superheros and big galactus etc, very cool)
Something went wrong. Very wrong.
OK so I'm at the start screen, I typed in 2 usernames thinkin I'd try this out. Then I couldnt figure out how to get it started. I finally used one of the drop downs at the top of the screen, and clicked 'Play'
Now this brought me to a screen, with a bunch of stuff on it. To the right and left were blue and red, and each had a little window with a Galactus hand. Pick teams etc etc. Didnt know how to do any of that.
So the next thing that happens (and this is the worst) is when I get in to the game screen, everything is weird. The map is flashing, and repeatedly changing. Kinda like someone changing TV channels really fast. Also, the two galactus hands off to the sides (the red and blue ones) are both doing the same thing, except their flicking through all of the team abilities. And I cant click on anything, and I'm kinda scared lol. So yeah.
Whats up?!?! And please dont tell me I broke anything.
spider_ham
01/28/2005, 18:39
I think you need a new TV! :p ;)
Seriously, though-- I've had a number of comments regarding bugs, user problems, etc. Since some people are reading the FAQ, some aren't, and others just can't get it work for whatever reason, I'll break it down for you right here:
1. Either right-click and Save As on the link to the standalone version of MC2, and set up the folders manually OR download the ZIP and extract. Double-click on the Flash file (.swf).
2. Enter name on the "Login" Screen.
3. On the Build Screen, select a set expansion and click on the Folder icon.
4. If there are any figs in the set file (I've only included a few for some sets, due to time constraints), highlight the figure name. If there aren't any, tough luck. :)
5. Click on the View icon. If the fig appears, you can browse through the dial. If you want to use this fig, click on the Add icon to add it to the Roster.
6. Rinse and repeat steps 3-6 for each side until satisified.
7. Select a map (Outdoor by default).
7. Click on the "2" in the Logo to play.
8. On the game screen, highlight a figure from the Team List. Click on the Check icon to "activate" it. It should appear in the display window at the top, with stats/powers listed.
--------------
I'll recheck the ZIP, but as I mentioned earlier, I haven't had any trouble extracting, settting up, and playing a game. Hmm.... :ermm:
I really hope this works for you guys/gals! :noid:

02/01/2005, 16:42
If you're having trouble trying MicroClix under Flash Player, and if the Flash plugin is installed with IE/Netscape, open a new window and drag the flash file into it. Make sure that the set folders reside in the same location of the program, though. :) If that doesn't work, try using a Haymaker. ;)
As I mentioned earlier, it worked fine on two dozen computers I downloaded and extracted the files to. Probable causes: no set files/empty set files, possible Netscape incompatability (was only able to test with IE; don't know if FireFox is capable at this point).
If the set files are empty, use Figure Editor to create new figs and append the set files to include them. I'll updating FE to generate set file script.
Good luck! :knockedou

:p Thanks, adamical!
You'll have to add a few lines of script to the set files (using a text editor) in order to access the figure files. Read the FAQ at my site for more info. Enjoy!
Hey, downloaded this a while ago, but just sat down to mess with it today. Once you figure out how it works, it seems to work really well. I'm using it in Firefox as well. Thanks!
One thing I will mention: the dice rolling mechanism may need some work. I played a game this afternoon, and rolled 10-12 threes, 3 critical misses, and only rolled >7 four or five times. Now I'm not exactly Longshot when it comes to dice rolls in real life, but that seems a bit extreme. I'll probably be rolling dice on my worktable next time I play.
Other than that, works great! Just need to spend a few hours in the character creator so I can get a few more pieces in there...
One more thing: is there any way to add in new maps?
spider_ham
03/24/2005, 20:50

Thanx! The dice roll algorithm definately needs improvement. The next update will address bugfixes and allow users to load custom maps, which can be created via my Map Editor. ;)

Just dropping in for a bit...
The new version is currently underway! The interface will basically remain the same, but map size and type will be completely customizable. I'm creating a Map Editor and an improved Fig Editor, as well as adding Feats, BFCs, and new game mechanics.
I might have to switch back to Java, depending on well Flash will handle new routines.
Later! :p

Snake Eyes:
Actually, I started working on a SW-themed program a while back, but it got placed on the backburner when I started on MC. I might pick it up once DigiClix is finished. Thanks!
I'm confused. Is this an online game? What do I download? Sorry to sound so ignorant.
It's a program that SpiderHam is working on to let you play clix online, or at least help keep track of a play-by-post game. Follow the link on his signature, all the info's there. As well as some other cool clix stuff.
Actually, its not online enabled at all, spiderham is only focusing on Solitaire mode. Its a Solitaire version of Heroclix, mainly for strategy and practice, but if you have a friend at your house, you can play them on the same computer. :D
