Why it will rule in my mind: They didnt go wussy on this one people. RATED R. I mean, read the fine print below it. It says something along the lines of "Extreme Graphic Violence". I kid you not. This one is shaping up to have more blood than the Shining elevator.

The prieviews do look good. And the reports I hear is that the movie is true to the character, so it looks promising.

I guess we'll see soon enough....

"You cant kill me, Im already dead."

Thomas Jane delievered that line DEAD ON. It almost makes me get goose bumps, but since that makes me sound flamboyant ill say "It makes me say awesome"

 It'll be awesome

Oh, and it takes a killer to kill a killer:devious:

Everyone and everything I've read about this movie gives me no reason to think it's anything less than spectacular, and possibly one of the best Marvel movies to date.

Hopefully better than Daredevil....

Before the Punisher kills John Travolta, I want to hear him say this....

"This is for Battlefield Earth."

He deserves Punishment for that one.

It looks a little too well lit to be a Punisher movie to me. And it gets -20 points for being associated with that lame song by Staind or whichever "wah--poor me" group that is.

Sadly, I 'll still be first in line to see it. One can always hope for the best.

Eh, I dunno. This got a strong R-Rating so we probbaly havent seen the tip of the iceberg from what the previews have shown

Punisher is more of an anti hero. He punishes the bad guys and protects the innocent by giving the bad guys a taste of their own medicine.

The song sucks for it, but thomas jane is an awesome actor, and I know he will play an awesome part. He's alot better then that sissy Ben Affleck, whom couldn't punch his way out of a plastic bag.

i dont like stained and the movie is opening on the same weekend as kill bill 2. the bride beats frank for my ticket unless i decide to moviehop. jonathan hensleigh, the director for punisher doesnt look too impressive, he wrote jumanji, die hard 3 and armageddon. this is his first film directing.

It's awesome. I saw it at an advance screening on Thursday. The violence is frequent, but not gory. It is a touch on the gratuitous side, which kind of surprised me coming from a Marvel Film. But that all seems in line with the character. In reference to the "song"... it's hardly in the movie part of the movie at all. Thomas Jane is awesome, but Travolta looks like he's cashing a paycheque. There's even a storyline in here that screams of "Othello". Great laughs too. There were a couple of scenes where the girl I went with and I both said at the same moment... "NICE"... and a lot of crowd pleasing stuff. So far... my #2 movie of the year. Great job by a first time director.

PS... this frees me up to see KB:V2 on Friday... or as soon as possible... for FREE... the perks of working in a movie theatre are great.

Well, aside from the less urban setting, (Frank using Miami as his base of operations seems so wrong to me) it looks promising. And, it won't take much for Thomas Jane to out preform Dolph Lundgren.

Is it true that the movie will be loosely based on "Welcome Back, Frank"?

Having read the novelization about a month ago, I'm mixed on my opinions so far. Mind you, I'm far from a huge Punisher fan - I'm in the thugit camp of "heroes don't kill when it's avoidable" - but I'm also not totally adverse to reading the character.

They do a very nice job of updating the character as, frankly, Vietnam War Veteran just doesn't work very well for someone Thomas Jane's age. :) You also get to know Frank's family better, including his parents and extended family and there's something to be said for that. It's a lot easier to see Frank go totally cold blooded (and he's even colder than comics Frank, I'd venture) based on the massacre that goes down in the movie. Frank does also put together some pretty intricate plots beyond walking into a building and shooting everyone Matrix-style.

Downsides that I can already see approaching like a freight train: John Travolta loves to chew scenery and this is a movie that'll let him do it. The overall movie just strikes me as something from the late 70's/early 80's plotwise (which, in fairness, makes sense considering the creation of the Punisher was from that time period) - cop loses family and goes on vengeful gratuitous violence filled killing spree; I just keep thinking of how proud Charles Bronson's "Deathwish" character would be of the Punisher. :) Does anyone believe Rebecca Romijin-Stamos as a down-on-her-luck ghetto waitress? She might surprise me, but I've got my doubts. :) Some of the ways he kills the villains strike me as overly cornball, but we'll see how well it translates to screen. I agree that Miami just doesn't seem like the right place to breed the Punisher - not that it doesn't have a fair share of crime, greed, corruption and seedy areas - but something about the character always screams "New York" to me. 'Course if they did that then you'd have to have Ben Affleck's Daredevil show up (and, hey, I actually liked that movie rare as that may seem. :) ).

It didn't help him become an action star.

I think the movie will be good if it is about a "War on Crime" instead of just a revenge or punishment movie. It being centered in Miami churned my stomach a little bit because the setting plays a big parts in movies for me, but I can live with it.

I'm really afraid to see it, and that's just from seeing the commercials for the soundtrack!

I wasn't aware it didn't take place in NYC, that's unsettling for a Marvel anything not to take place there! ;)

I'll probably see it next week sometime.

Well, Catwoman is licensed by DC. It is being made by WB, as far as I know.

And it's totally going to #### ###, that I know for sure.

If they have punisher happen in NY with both Daredevil and Spiderman running around marvel would have to come up with some lame excuse as to why those 2 heros don't take Frank out....so hence...Hello Miami......(I think)

I'm looking forward to Sky Captain, actually. Looks like great pulp fun -- with good actors, to boot.

well according to Halle's interview in People, its her movie, her thing and has NOTHINg to do with Batman, so the fact that WB has anything to do with it is new to me. that wasnt mentioned in her article.....

It will have some great boob shots though right?

trapt?

btw it would be so funny if during the final scene with punisher and john travolta (theres gonna be one)
punisher says to john "I need a man, this heart was built for 2" (Grease)

and it does seem like it will ####
john either makes or breaks a movie

It'll be good. There is no way you can pg13 punisher. I didn't like the previews and that "already dead line" is so cliche and I hated most of the music. Broken is an averagely good song but the guys voice is annoying. However when I saw the online trailer, I gained much more hope.

mostly he breaks movies. travolta is the only thing that makes me hesitate.

catwoman is pretty much guaranteed to be bad. While I think Halle is one of the hottest women alive, she looks terrible in that suit. She also can't pull of action roles to save her life, I really wish she'd stop and go back to drama.
